Antis describe Otto as obsessive or simp, who is after Kallen and doesn't respect her love for Sakura. ~*~ To answer the question... Yes. Otto is obsessed. But not for Kallen's love, but for Kallen's life.

He says that himself and is aware of it. And this “obsession” can be traced back to a profound fear of loss that runs throughout “Elan Palatinus”.

Otto's view of the world underlines why he desperately wants to bring Kallen back to life:

This event recreates an alternate version in which Kallen follows the path that Otto did out of love for Sakura. In this event, Otto intentionally binds Kallen to Sakura and Yae Village so that she does not return to Schicksal and be executed. If Otto only cared about Kallen's love, he would have accepted this risk rather than leaving her with her bElOvEd Sakura. ~*~ And if we're already talking about Sakura and Antis mostly prefer SakuKallen, I'll say something to the lady now.

If the worn-out fake version of your passionate love tells you that you're a little obsessive, then there's something to it. You might not get it that way because Kallen's story is a shambles. But Kallen intended to return to Schicksal. It's being teased in Sanka Saga...

As well as in "The Gratitude Arc" and also in "Dark Sakura Tales". This webcomic only exists on the Chinese HI3 site and appears in "The Gratitute Arc", "Divine Key" and "Elan Palatinus".

In this webcomic you also get to see a completely different side of Sakura. You can tell that she can't cope with Kallen leaving her and would prefer to keep her with her. "In many dreams she had dreamt of making you belong only to her. She thought, she had found her own beacon of light. But that Light chose to shine on otheers instead." By the way. In "Dark Sakura Tales" Kallen never left Yae Village, she just wanted to prevent the human sacrifices. I would have understood it, if Kallen had actually left Yae Village to seal the box, as initially assumed. But no. She was never gone. And Higokumaru can only manipulate. Manipulation involves taking advantage of doubts, fears and weaknesses. He cannot implant thoughts that are not there. In that case, I wonder how obsessed one can actually be? I can only feel sorry for Sakura. But in my opinion, that's only the case in this manga. As shown above, there are several indications that Kallen left Yae Village in HI3, if only to complete her mission. In Gun Girls Z there is an alternate story in which, under the Herrscher's influence, she actually forces Kallen to stay with her.

sitting bolt upright in the middle of the night with the realization that furina is not a parallel to seele, she's a parallel to veliona. walk with me,

obligatory disclaimer that i do not think furina and focalors are an "expy" of the seeles [taking this word away from hyv fans and putting it on a shelf] because nothing shared across these games is ever a one for one copy. even for characters whose names and appearances are the same or similar, inspiration is drawn from multiple different sources. [talk to me about different aspects of mei being seen in makoto and ei respectively, and yae miko being more like rin / higokumaru than sakura]. the setting and tone of each game is very different, and this shapes the characters in different and interesting ways.

i enjoy seele and furina's stories because they're distinct and different entities!! but it's fun to draw comparisons between the two and see what aspects of these stories have been repeated versus where they differ from each other.

like okay listen. i've understood the shallower parallels between focalors and furina and seele and veliona for a while. there's two of them. one of them has short hair the other long. the sea of quanta / the primordial sea. the little mermaid analogies. the shade of life creating focalors's predecessor / veliona being a stigmata of the previous era herrscher of death, seele becoming the herrscher of rebirth. okay yeah fine whatever.

the seeles' story is one of codependency as a result of trauma and isolation, and recovering from it and learning to rely on each other in healthier ways. focalors and furina's story is one of loneliness, duty, and sacrifice.

but both of them are about identity.

since the time they came into being, both furina and veliona have taken on this role of protector to something they hold dear - furina's doomed people, veliona's meek and fragile other half. in order to take on this role, they put on masks - furina's arrogant and exuberant showmanship, veliona's harsh and sarcastic demeanor - to hide away the insecurities that lie beneath.

and when their counterpart is killed / separated from them, these insecurities come right up to the surface, and they're at a loss for what to do with themselves. they don't know who they are if they're not projecting this mask and playing the part of protector. who is veliona when seele grows stronger, makes more friends, doesn't need her anymore? who is furina, after five hundred long years, when she doesn't have to pretend to be a god anymore?

without their counterpart to hide behind, to give them meaning, who do they have that cares for them? that sees past the mask they've put between themselves and the world?

perhaps surprisingly to them, a lot of people!

their friends pick them up when they stumble and pull them forward into a more hopeful future where they can be themselves and live their own lives. seele assuring veliona she does want her around, bronya accepting her, the herrscher of sentience trying to get her to be more confident in herself. neuvillette looking after furina's financial costs, clorinde inviting her out drinking and to meet up with friends so she doesn't stay locked in her apartment forever, the people of fontaine accepting furina as she is.

in the end, they don't entirely abandon these masks of theirs, but repurpose them, borrowing that false confidence and making it into something more real as they take steps to discovering who they are and who they want to be.

I agree with you about Otto being the best wingman, but not about his love for Kallan. You don't call your friendship or familial love, "love of my life." What Otto did for Kallen, he did out of love for her. Because he had romantic feelings for her. And yes. You don't like the love triangle, because you want to see Otto with your OC and WISH Otto didn't have feelings for Kallen. ~*~ The problem is that most antis equate Kallen Fantasy 3 with Kallen Fantasy 8. Kallen Fantasy 3 belongs to the main story and covers a story, in which Kallen has to fight against the evil fox in order to be able to marry Otto later. The fox (ATTENTION: male version) means Higokumaru. Kallen Fantasy 8 is a side event in which Kallen fights through various classes as a student and at the end competes against the vixen (ATTENTION: female version) Sakura. Both have some fighting genes through an experiment.

I only see the terms “someone” and “her”. Otto probably didn't even know Sakura's name. So Otto also has a hard time being jealous of someone he doesn't even really know. ~*~

Otto's wish is that Kallen is alive and happy. He has already proven this in “Elan Palatinus” and also in the side event “Sanka Saga”. Even if Kallen chose Sakura, it wouldn't be a problem for him. Unlike Sakura...

Modern day AU, this pic is what happens like everyday Otto would be, like, the BEST wingman ever. Think about. He's RICH. He can get Kallen and Yae the top restaurant in town completely reserved for them. Limited events? He can get them tickets. He wants Kallen to be happy. Sanka Saga confirmed that, Otto isn't jealous of Yae, he SUPPORTS Kallen's relationship. So he would totally be the best wingman. Of course, he'd have a conversation with Yae alone, summarized in "If you hurt her I'll make you pay" because yes. After all I never saw Otto's love for Kallen as romantic. It's more similar to Philia or even Storge rather than Eros. He care deeply for her, wants her safe and is willing to dirty his hands to keep her safe. And she does care for him, not romantically either, but she cares.

(Source) They are great childhood friends and in a modern AU they'd still be so. Otto has always been supportive of her, he would support her love for Yae Sakura. I think this dynamic is very entertaining and makes room for very fun and wholesome shenanigans. Personally I like it way more than just a boring and overused love triangle that doesn't even respect the game canon anyway.

I just finished Sanka Saga, and it made me question: is there any universe where Sakura and Kallen (and Sakura's sister, too) are happy? Just one? I'm not asking for too much, right? Right?

Non-canon events...

I mean technically Sakura, RIN/Higokumaru, and not-actually-Kallen are chilling in Theresa's stigmata. Theresa having Sakura's stigmata also ~kind of~ implies that she has the Core of Corruption but that's probably just a plot hole. idk

But that's the Previous Era RIN, so Sakura was still forced to kill Yae Rin and she's just dead and SAKURA died getting RIN to stop killing people when she went nuts as the Herrscher of Corruption so I guess they both kinda killed their sisters even if neither ever wanted to.

And then Kallen is just dead, like SAKURA and Rin. The Kallen in their stigma space is more of Sakura and Higo's collective memories of her made into a person.

That was confusing to say so I made a visual and this is the situation just before the Gratitude Arc in the comics or Sakura Samsara in the game.

So that's main story canon covered.

Events? Lots of the really old events (before captainverse) had them just existing with each other very happily. Then captainverse came along and now every event has to rip out your heart...

At least in the cooking events they're okay.

Concept artwork for my upcoming Genshin + Honkai fanfic! tentatively titled "Vulpecula Infernus" and intended to be the first story of several which fall within what I call the "Remnant Era AU" ^.^

Although since these are concept arts, these aren't 100% accurate illustrations of what happens in the text; certain details like clothing, scenes, etc. may be different between the text & art.

After so long, Yae Sakura makes her first appearance

Just to state, Yae Sakura has appeared in the titles of Guns Girl Z and Honkai Impact 3rd.

Within the lore of GGz and HI3rd, she was a miko priest. But sadly, due to the traditions of her village, Yae Sakura's father ordered her to kill her sister Yae Rin.

(I don't know if Genshin will kill Rin as well)

As a result, Yae Sakura was left with grief and pain, until she met a woman called Kallen Kaslana. Of course, due to the appearance of said woman, Yae found a mysterious cube and sadly she got corrupted by said cube or box which contained the 12th Herrscher. The Herrscher of Corruption.

And that's how she gained her fox ears.

This is a panel from GGz, the lore related with Yae Sakura and the 12th Herrscher is the same for GGz and HI3rd.

For Genshin Impact is is clear that her design is different due to the place she'll appear eventually but well, time will tell whenever tragedy will be with her or not.

As for the electro archon, it is clear that it'll be someone that resembles Raiden Mei.

When it comes to explaining away the screenshot from Gun Girls Z, some people are really inventive. Now it is said that Otto dreamed the whole thing or that Stigma World is a dream world. I suspect that this can be traced back to Sakura Samsara?

Let’s take a look at Sakura Samsara. Fact 1: Sakura was sealed into the Stigma World by Kallen along with Higumaru, afer her suiside. Fact 2: Kiana were able to enter the Stigma World through AR, probably a virtual world. Fact 3: Kiana tried to break the course of samsara. Fact 4: The seal was broken, allowing Sakura to possess Theresa's body. Theresa's soul was thereby drawn into the world of stigma. Samsara (Sanskrit, n., संसार, saṃsāra; Pali: saṃsāra; literally: “constant wandering”[1][2]) is the name for the perpetual cycle of being, the cycle of becoming and passing away or the cycle of rebirths in the Indian religions Buddhism, Jainism and sub-streams of Hinduism and Manichaeism.[3][4] In some Indian religions, this cycle is viewed as suffering (see Dukkha/suffering). Long story short, Higokumaru controls the stigma space. Kallen is just a product of Sakura's idea of ​​her. Sakura doesn't want to leave the Stigma World to continue living there with Kallen. It is called the dream world, because this world was artificially created by Higokumaru and contains neither the past nor the future. As I have already written in “Reincarnation and the Future”, the stigma world adapts the principles of the artificially created soul world, but has a connection to the Inmaginary Tree. That represents humanity's future, past and present. Neither Otto nor Theresa would be able to manipulate the stigma world like Higokumaru. So the future shown in the stigma world is real.
