asking as a newcomer to the hiddlesworth fandom: what happened in the summer that shan't be mentioned?

posting under a cut for those that don’t want to be reminded of the drama:

last summer, tom dated taylor swift for about three months. the fandoms... exploded. it was a lot of drama and nonsense, with people saying it was a faked relationship, or that she was pregnant, or blah blah blah. whatever your side of the thing was, they dated for about 90 days, then split, with her accusing him of only using her for fame. make of that what you will.

during this time, ragnarok was filming. there were some rumors that tom and chris weren’t getting on as well as they had before -- during a phone interview, chris basically handed off the phone to tom without a lot of warning and it was seen as unusually abrupt for him. they also didn’t seem as close as they had been during the press touring, with tom being a lot more subdued and out of focus.

now, it might’ve had nothing to do with the hiddleswift relationship at all! it’s just that the cooling of tom and chris’ interactions intersect with it and a lot of people have drawn the conclusions that chris was unimpressed with tom’s antics during the summer because, frankly... he made an ass of himself.
