Joel Embiid and Serena Williams are the king and queen of social media in 2017
Tumblr media
Presenting the 2017 Yahoo Sports Royal Court of Social Media. (Amber Matsumoto/Yahoo Sports)
This year brought plenty of great social moments, but these athletes were the best of the best on social media.
King Joel Embiid
Where to begin with Philadelphia 76ers star Troll-el Embiid? He’s had a plethora of viral moments this year, but none were more epic than his takedown of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball and his dad on draft night.
Please dunk on him so hard that his daddy runs on the court to save him.. https://t.co/cMvt5RYiSQ

Queen Serena Williams
Williams began 2017 in style with her seventh Australian Open title and 23rd Grand Slam title, but it was her pregnancy reveal and subsequent birth of her daughter, Alexis Olympia, that shook the social media world.
Meet Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. You have to check out link in bio for her amazing journey. Also check out my IG stories ❤️❤️

Prince JuJu Smith-Schuster
Not only did JuJu turn 21 this year, he also became a social media icon with his various touchdown celebrations. But nothing compared to his #TeamFindJujusBike campaign after someone stole his favorite mode of transportation.
‍♂️‍♂️ MY BIKE GOT STOLEN WHY PEOPLE GOT TO BE LIKE THAT?? pic.twitter.com/W01q63IY0d

Princess Simone Biles
At 4-foot-8-inches, Biles has good height for gymnastics. It helped her win a record four gold medals at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. But, compared to 7-foot-1-inch Shaquille O’Neal, she looks … even smaller.
hey Shaq

Sir Knight of Kindness J.J. Watt
Known for his generosity, the Houston Texans defensive stud ignited a social media fundraising campaign to help out the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Watt initially started out with a goal of raising $200,000, but it eventually ballooned to $37 million in donations in one of the best uses of Twitter of all time. For his efforts, he also won Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year award.
Recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey will be massive. We must come together to help rebuild our communities.https://t.co/SR6DmnNbyM pic.twitter.com/iiMsG2i4dl

Duchess of Dates Genie Bouchard
What began as a simple jab at the New England Patriots’ huge halftime deficit against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI turned into a date with a stranger. You gotta love Twitter (and love) in 2017.

Court Jester: Kevin Durant
Because only a fool gets caught using burner accounts.
KD has secret accounts that he uses to defend himself and forgot to switch to them when he was replying to this guy I'm actually speechless pic.twitter.com/9245gnpa3c
