Softly the rain outside played a melody she wanted to capture but just didn’t know how. It was such a sweet, soft sound that couldn’t be described in words. It was a echo but nothing more. Some sensual beating of natures heart. How could you capture a heartbeat?

The door creaked open and was shut close shortly after. Eli carrying in two mugs for the two of them. Both filled with the tea of their preference. The smoke of it was dancing through the air before dissolving into nothing. Cooling off.

He put them on his table before turning around to talk to the girl, who was sitting on his bed, about the song they were just about to write.

He invited her over to his after reading a bit of her poetry by what you could call rather an accident than for the reason of her offering it to him. Rob had given it to him, explaining that it was from a friend and that he should hold the papers for him while he set up his bass. The words memorized him and he could imagine a rhythm behind it. It was as if they were his own, but at the same time they weren’t. They told a story he saw himself in but he wasn’t the main character. They felt like one. Sharing a mind.

After talking to Rob about it and inviting her to a band practice before going to his home, she agreed to work with them. At first, she was mad at Rob for just handing the papers out like they were free advertisement and embarrassed that someone else besides her closest friends read her most conscious thoughts, but the lads were nice and she quickly bonded with them, which made her appreciate it a little more. Plus, she was now actively working together with people that she was convinced had a great future in front of them. For most people, you could tell if they were gonna be stars in their future at the mere age of 17, but with them, you just knew.

“What are you thinking about?” Eli asked, sitting down next to her. His eyes switched between her profile and the world outside his window. He watched the rain but to him it was a rather ordinary thing to admire.

“It’s beautiful. The rain, I mean. It’s so loud but so gentle,” she explained, turning her head to look at him. “I’ve tried writing about it, but I never really got to capture it’s beauty quite like I hoped to. It always seemed off.”

He had never heard anyone talk about nature like that - besides Bobby’s endless speeches about birds. But that - the rain and it’s magic - he understood it - not like the birds. He just sat there and watched her like he couldn’t comprehend she was real. What a mind, he thought.

“I think you can’t capture the most beautiful things in something like words or pictures. Reality is always more fascinating,” he answered, watching her to make her understand what he was referring to. Her.

“I don’t think that’s true,” she argued, pulling her legs up to sit cross legged opposite him.

Eli did the same, turning so he could look at her fully. “Then how do you explain your struggle with writing about rain?”

She shrugged. “Maybe I’m just bad.”

“When you’re bad then I’m horrible. No, even worse than horrible. A total disaster,” he joked, making her laugh. “You wanna test it?”

“How?” She asked, intrigued by his offer.

“We each write one poem about something that we find semi beautiful and one thing that we are fascinated by. Then we see which one is better,” he explained his idea.

“That’s not gonna work,” she said.

“You don’t even wanna try? Party popper,” he said, looking bored at her.

She laughed at his behavior before finally agreeing to his offer. “Which one do we write first?”

“The semi beautiful,” he decided.

Getting paper and two pens, he hands her what she needs before they both think and create.

“I say, we write the other one now and then we compare them together,” she said after they both finished writing their first poem.

They kept on writing, letting their creative stream lead them where they went with their poem. Y/n noticed, how every 2 seconds, Eli would look up at her and watch her for a moment before continuing writing.

“Can you please stop looking at me?” She asked, feeling small under his gaze.

He was still writing, so when he heard her talk he quickly looked up. “Sorry, what?” He asked, still half immersed in his lines and verses. Not expecting her to voice anything while concentrating.

“I don’t like when people look at me when I write, so could you please stop that?” She asked him.

She didn’t want to be rude, but she felt uncomfortable when she knew someone was watching her while she was willing to write about something personal. It was a nagging feeling she couldn’t shake off. Some distaste she imagined reflecting in their eyes, disgust of her mind. Some sort of making fun of her while writing. She felt insecure with the knowing of eyes watching her, afraid she might fail in front of them.

“Can’t do,” he said, deciding to just shoot his shot. Now or never, right?

“Why not?” She asked, putting her pen down on her paper and looking at him.

“I have to focus on my subject while writing.”

Kayn flexed his eyebrows on fleek to the camara before turning to Sett. Without a beat he goes: “I like your elbow,” and then giggled. Sett felt offended by the weird compliment tried to elbowed him since he liked it so much. 

> Kayn loves his fans more than any other Heartsteel member, so he screams the fandom name into a mic everytime he can. Kayn will scream “HEARTSBEAAAAAAAATS!” at random times during interviews, podcasts, and concerts.

> In Japan, Yone explained to the interviewer that the other members of Heartsteel arent very good at speaking japanese. Out of nowhere, Aphelios says to the interviewer in fluent japanese: “I like your videos, your videos are so nice.” “Oh, well, he can speak a little” Yone said dumbfounded. 

> In another interview, Sett kept singing Despacito throughout the whole show, embarrassing himself. K’Sante kept repeating that he was a rapper and not a singer, so people wouldn’t think that Heartsteel songs sound like that. 

> The interviewer asked how they deal with girls and fangirls in their dating life. Ezreal simply answered: “I don’t think”

> At the Grammy’s, someone ask who is the bad boy in the group. Everyone quickly looked at Kayn. He just smirked to the camera with confidence. “I’m bad boy,” he said with his ego up his ass. 

> Yone was hosting a Q&A at a fanmeeting. He picked a question about them hanging all the time because of Heartsteel. “Do you ever get tired of eachother since you live together?” he read aloud. Ezreal jumped from his seat and hugged Kayn over his shoulders. “No, you are my bro,” Ezreal said with a big smile while the punk tried to push him away, even if he liked the attention. 

> K’Sante has a tradition with Heartbeats at every concert. He will craft red hearts to incorporate into his outfit on stage or show in creative ways for the audience to show his appreciation for their support throughout his career.

> At a podcast, Aphelios revealed that he likes to draw, he even showed some of his drawings. The host encouraged him to post his drawing to social media. Aphelios said that his drawings were a secret. The host giggled and said: “Not anymore since this will be uploaded to YouTube.” Aphelios stayed quiet after that fuck up. 

> At a radio show, the host asked Heartsteel members to present themselves and say something most people don’t know about them. K’Sante went first and thought about a secret he was willing to share. “I’m hungry. Top Secret,” he said, making everyone laugh at the booth. Sett confessed: “My underwear is black.” Everyone looked at him confused.

> At a Halloween Special, Heartsteel went to a haunted house. Sett tried to square up at every zombie he saw. 

> They were playing air hockey at an arcade once. K’Sante and Sett were playing against eachother. Sett hit the pock so hard that it flew out of the table and landed on Aphelios nuts. Everyone laughed at him while he was holding his balls in pain.

Part One: Author Interview

Q: When did you first start writing? What keeps you going today? 

A: I've honestly been writing for as long as I can remember. I've always loved creating stories or thinking of ideas I would change in the books I've read. As a kid, my dad and I would read all types of books together at night before bed, which had always sparked my interest. And whenever I was given my first phone and introduced to online media and more fandom spaces, I realized I could write what I wanted. In middle school being a theater kid, most of that consisted of writing musical fanfics.  The drive to keep creating is what keeps me going. I am in the process of trying to write my own original book, And while I have barely started it or even figured out a plot  I want to be able to be the person who can make others feel seen in my words. 

Q: What are some recurring themes you’ve noticed in your writing?

A: I tend to get really into the character's heads. I will write their internal monologue sometimes more than the actual scene itself. I notice that sometimes I may write a good 100-200 words purely on how that character is feeling. Sometimes it can be good, but also it is a habit I am trying to break to keep the pace going and not make the fic seem “stuck.”

Q: What kind of music do you like to listen to while writing

A: Honestly all different types. I have character playlists that I listen to while writing for a specific character if I really want to channel them internally, but the songs can range from Jhariah, Noah Kahan, Alex G and many more. I have to get myself into their mindsets for me to write them or I am stuck on a blank page for hours.

tarot reading for scavenger hunt item 8

One day, before the big snooze, Frank did tarot readings for some of her girlfriend's mysterious coworkers with her special lovers' deck. Here is what she found:

Three of Lydia's coworkers visited me that day to ask about their work crushes. Without giving away anything about what they do of course. Just like Lydia, honestly! For all of them though, I used my lovers' deck to do a reading with one card for their perspective on the relationship, one for the crush's perspective, and one for their relationship and future overall.

My first visitor was a shy, sweet American named Felix. The poor boy told me he was in love with his best friend. I've seen plenty like him before, pining for someone who only ever notices them in the wrong way. At least as far as they can tell. But we're here to see what the cards can tell, so let's consult them.

The nine of cups shows us Felix's feelings about the relationship. Cups are an emotional suit and the nine is a strong expression of that emotion. But even just from speaking with him I could tell Felix has strong feelings for this person. He shouldn't worry about whether the friend will turn him away if he confesses because his love for them is already obvious, even if they don't realize its nature. This is also the only non reversed card in the spread, showing that although Felix's feelings are certain, his friend's and their future are weaker at the moment and will depend on what actions he takes.

The eight of staves reversed represents a sudden change that is being delayed or held back. This suggests that Felix's friend is waiting for him to make the first move, after which he will make a decisive choice.

The two of coins represents balance, especially in work or practical matters. Knowing that this is a work friend especially makes me think this represents how well Felix and his friend balance each other out and work well together. Because it's reversed however, there's an aspect of that relationship they have yet to unlock, perhaps a romantic one.

My overall advice to Felix is that his friendship is strong and his friend knows they're very loved, so this is just the right time to try to take that friendship further. If he takes the right actions, there could be a big change in his relationship which makes it more complete.

My next customer was a man named Alec. I do hope he found some peace in his life, he seemed very wound up. But the cards do predict some possible romantic success in his future.

The five of cups is a card that represents great turmoil, but the fact that it is reversed means Alec is beginning to move past those troubles. In this card, someone looks only at the negatives in life and never sees the possibilities. Being reversed in this position suggests that by considering a new relationship, Alec is starting to find the paths to happiness in his life and recover from a time of despair.

The prince of coins is someone who works hard and has a materially successful future ahead of them. In this reading, we can assume this diligent person will put that same effort into a relationship with Alec and their mutual wealth. They are also someone who enjoys the physical pleasures of this world, another positive in a romantic partner.

In the lovers' deck, Arthur and Guinevere represent the archetype of power. Like King Arthur and his queen of myth, this also comes with the wisdom to wield that power together, building on each other's strengths. I can only say that if Alec lands his crush the world had better watch out!

My advice to Alec is that this seems like a great relationship to pursue which will bring him great happiness and out of a dark time, but first he should make sure he's ready to move on from his past regrets in order to be a fulfilling partner.

My last guest only introduced himself as Q. He seemed doubtful of the tarot, but willing to ask for its advice in a trying relationship. Love and hate are not always so different from each other, and like many before him, he spoke of someone he had at first hated but frustratingly come to love. Despite his lack of faith, the cards gave him this sound answer.

Arrows in this deck represent the importance of communication in relationships and (like the traditional swords) knowledge. Both being reversed here suggests there is some knowledge lacking on both sides of this relationship. The ten of arrows or swords can also represent a decisive ending. Combining these two, when Q improves his communication with his crush, an end will come to this difficult phase of the relationship.

The queen of arrows is the feminine culmination of this suit, suggesting that Q's crush has the potential to be an open and eloquent communicator. However, its reversed position and Q's comments about this person's aggravating communication style (or lack thereof) tell me something is preventing them from sharing the interpersonal expertise they possess.

Despite these roadblocks, the final card is the famous lovers Romeo and Juliet, representing tradition. This means their relationship may take on a traditional structure like marriage. However it may also be that societal tradition is the issue constraining their relationship at the moment. Most relationships flourish when people let go of societal expectations while also creating their own forms of structure.

My advice to Q is that he try to open up to his crush and encourage them to be open with him. I would also recommend they try to find the traditions that are important to them without worrying about what other people think, just like Romeo and Juliet. Although that story is a tragedy, with the right choices, this one won't be!

After all that, I discovered that despite the secrecy, Lydia's job does have the usual workplace drama! I'm sure all these men will find happiness with their crushes. (through the power of multishipping, all of Frank's positive predictions can come true!)

it was another day in twisted wonderland when you walked down the halls of night raven college with a certain heartslabyul third year. he was chatting about the latest trend on magicam and he asked if he could do it with you. the trend? it was a short q&a video wherein the audio consists of questions, and people - usually a pair - would answer them.

"alright, i can do the trend with you. during lunch break?"

cater beamed and nodded at you, humming in response as he waved his phone. "yup! we have two classes before lunch, so... see ya later then!"

you nodded at him with a smile, waving at him as he waved back at you while walking to the other side of the hall to where his class was. you had history and astrology as your two remaining classes before lunch while cater had mathematics and alchemy, so you two had to separate ways for now.

after your classes, you were in the cafeteria with a bunch of heartslabyul students as you had your lunches together. cater was seated beside you as you both talked about random things, that is until he pulled out his phone and said, "let's do the trend!"

he then propped his phone up on the table with the camera on, ensuring the two of you were in view. after that, he pressed play and while recording, the audio of the trend was also playing, which gave you two a live reaction to the questions being asked.

while you two were doing the trend, trey was minding his own business, having his own lunch while listening to the conversation that ace and deuce had every now and then - since they sat with them for today.

"who cries the most during a movie?"

that was the first question those at your table had heard. both you and cater started answering the question by pointing to one another on who would most likely cry while watching a movie.

"who is most likely to get magicam famous?"

you pointed at cater while smiling at the camera.

"who is most likely to friend zone someone?"

cater pointed at you, to which you reacted with a playfully offended gasp.

"who checks their social media first thing in the morning?"

you pointed at cater.

"and finally, a lighthearted question. who loves the other more?"

a soft chuckle left your lips as you heard that, pointing to yourself as you claimed to love cater the most, and he was pointing at himself, too.

of course, you love cater, he was your best friend on the entire campus and he certainly loves you as well, except his love extends past the platonic light that you seem to have for him.

but you obviously do not know that.

trey heard the question, which made him look up at the two of you. the vice leader noticed the way cater avoided his gaze while laughing softly as he placed an arm around your shoulder, which made trey glance at you as if he was aware of a little secret that cater hides from you.

cater took his phone and started editing the video before posting it to magicam, stating the hashtags that he typed down out loud so you could hear, and then tagging you in the video as well.

as soon as it was posted, a slight vibration was felt in your pocket as you took out your phone which showed a notification of cater's post that you were tagged in. the two of you then chatted for a while until it was time to head back to your afternoon class, so the two of you parted ways once again.

cater and trey walked to their next class together as they both had astrology as their first class for the afternoon. while walking, cater was reading the comments on the video that he posted recently and trey did not fail to notice this. the last question in the audio replayed in his mind as he asked, "have you thought about confessing?"

cater was caught off guard by his question, looking at him with a surprised expression before laughing it off, "pfft... what are you talking about? why would i confess to f/n?"

"...i never said it was f/n."

trey had an amused smile, wanting to chuckle at cater's reaction as he immediately shut his mouth for a bit before letting out a sigh, "ah... i've been caught..."

"it was fairly obvious. have you thought about confessing your feelings to them?" asked trey as he continued walking down the halls with cater.

the third year let out a hum as he said, "nah, i don't want to confess. i prefer things as they are right now." trey gave him a quick, knowing glance as he replied, "uh-huh... if you say so..."

"and besides, they only see me as a friend," muttered cater under his breath, trying to keep up his smile. maybe what he told trey was a lie, maybe he did have thoughts of you two being an item. would you go out with him to cafés and share a drink together? would you proudly show him off on social media? would you two take plenty of pictures together?

would you actually accept his feelings?

Hi! I've been reading BMTL again and I have quick q- in BMTL, how did Dan and Amy 'plan' their wedding? Was it a spur of the moment thing? Was it Dan or Amy's idea to do it during Jonah's announcement? :)

Hey! I'm so glad you are rereading and thank so much for sending in an ask! I love BMTL asks!

Dan and Amy's wedding is one of those things I made up in the super early days of writing--like literally when I was thinking of article scraps for that first chapter--and I knew I wanted their wedding to be very untraditional and kind of spontaneous...and then later I was like "sh*t, how does this actually work in practice." So I've spent a lot of time thinking about their wedding, haha.

The way it goes in my mind is that Dan and Amy (and Cassie) are on their way to court an eccentric lumber multi-millionaire in Maine who demands that people who visit him arrive in the most eco-conscious way possible (he's one of those rich people who get very rich off some exploitative industry and then feels "bad" about it)

So Dan and Amy are driving up in an electric car instead of flying and their car has some sort of malfunction (it's probably a Tesla ☠️) and they get stranded in some cute little touristy town on the coast of New Hampshire. The car can't be fixed quickly and they find themselves on the town's main street, feeling very annoyed and wondering what to do. Dan and Amy are in the middle of bickering, of course - maybe they're sitting on a bench in the town square or something. Dan takes a look at their surroundings and sort of processes how picturesque it all is, and then he looks at Amy and Cassie who are probably both ignoring him and has a genius idea that he and Amy should get married. It's partly driven from the fact that they are stuck and (unusually) don't have anything else to do in the moment, but also from the deep, abiding knowledge that even if they both drive him crazy, there's nobody he'd rather be stranded with anywhere than Amy and Cassie (plus, they've been "engaged" at this point for quite some time). He doesn't remember until later that Jonah is going to announce his presidential campaign on Youtube or whatever, but it's an extra cherry on top of the whole day.

So they are able to pull the whole thing together really quick - they get a marriage license and Dan sends Amy to the local shops to get a white dress and he rustles up a photographer and a ring and Amy gets a bouquet from the florist and voilà! They get married and take many photographs. Amy is relieved they get the whole thing done in an afternoon and also that she doesn't have to deal with her family, but of course she also finds it secretly romantic that Dan had the idea so spontaneously. Cassie enjoys getting to wear a white dress and tearing Amy's bouquet to pieces afterwards.

(I just looked at the first chapter and apparently I specified Portsmouth, NH as the place where they get married, which is not really a small town but probably feels small to cosmopolitan Dan. The Portsmouth courthouse is hideous though so they definitely do not get married there. Maybe Dan gets someone to marry them somewhere more picturesque...I could see him showing up at the local party headquarters and hounding some volunteers. Or maybe Portsmouth is where all the local reporters rush because they don't necessarily know where to go. Maybe I need to update that part of the chapter a bit, haha.)

also, right before they get married, Dan tells Amy he killed a dog. she's just relieved that he's not confessing to being a serial killer.

and they all lived happily ever after!

I dont know if you want to respond to this ask because it's about Tom and post Romeo and Juliet. I write this cause there have been so many think pieces bout hisbchiuces and some fans catastrophize, and I value your perspective on these things.

I'm excited for SM4 and Uncharted 2, but after that, I don't want Tom to be a part of Avengers 5 or any crossover until he has success outside of the MCU.

He's too talented to be stuck in that franchise that rn doesn't sound secure and looks to be dependent on him. Shawn Levy gave him praise a few days ago, teasing a deadpool crossover and for me thats an alarm bell in my head because it's so obvious they are trying to make his SM the Iron Man of that universe. What is baffling with me with his career is that he's doing these films cause he wants to, but deep down, I don't think he just wants to do just this. I remember the q&a for TCR for sag-aftra and how he was scared to go outside of the MCU bubble before taking that role and how he was happy he was doing this.

I'm confused because it's not just for money to stay in that universe. Tom avoids fashion shows and campaigns that could pay more than a movie star salary. He could really milk his persona for money due to him being a walking meme. He actively avoids socialising in hollywood or going to parties or events, yet he's stuck doing sequels? Tom is still young, he can always come back to those films cause the demand is high and i dont mind those films but i want some more variety. I selfishly want to understand where his head is. I want style as well as a blue screen.

The winner rumours are giving me hope because it's a risk, and I know Tom can do this. I think my irritation for his existing ip as of rn is those toxic fanbases and biased critics that use it against Tom as a cautionary tale. Don't do Marvel, or you'll end up like him like he isn't in high demand and talented af. Like JE is considered a movie star yet tell me a film he's opened as a lead not supporting, that made profit for over 200 million? They always move the goalposts for Tom and also Z, but that's for another day, lol.

If there's on actor Tom should look for inspiration, it's Tom Cruise. Take away his personal life, an actor who didn't fit the mould for most male actors of that time,he's the only one career that has still stayed intact. I remember reading that after being cast for his role in the interview with a vampire, he was swarmed with hate against him doing the part. Even the author and brad pitt were against his casting, and he proved them wrong. He doesn't have an oscar, but he's still considered a movie star as opposed to his peers who faded out.

Hmm...I mean, I guess I can sort of understand that sentiment. You just want him to not be typecast as a Superhero, or to be seen as someone who can only be successful in action films/popcorn flicks I'm assuming? I think that's pretty fair. With that said, I will say that even though some of Tom's projects outside of Spiderman haven't been as well-received as we as fans might want (i.e. "Cherry", CW, TCR, I personally thought TDATT did pretty well actually), I will say that he's been very fortunate that a LOT of these have been only STREAMING projects. It's not like they were put out in theaters, so even if they weren't that well-received by critics, who cares?? It's not like they had "box office numbers" to also worry about.

Plus, who knows if these films might have done well at the box office even in spite of negative film critics' reviews? 🤔 Did anyone ever consider that? Either way, to me, it hasn't been that big of a deal?

With that said, I mean, I DO think it's good to go to Hollywood parties SOMETIMES, because those afford you a lot of ways to network and meet people you look up to, and maybe influential people who can possibly give you another acting job at some point. 👀 To me, it's just smart?? In Tom's case, he's UBER famous, so he might actually be trying to TEMPER down his fame a bit, so that's why he prefers not to really be out there. I'm not really understanding what this has to do with anything. MOST actors take on roles that speak to them or ones that they find either challenging or interesting. MOST actors aren't taking roles because they think "Film Twitter" is going to like it. 🙄 Most actors don't even care about what their fans or people are going to think when choosing roles.

They choose to do a role because it's a great opportunity to maybe work with a great director or cast that they've always wanted to work with, or because the story/writing/plot is very compelling and it's a role that they can really sink their teeth into.

Yea, Tom did an amazing job in TCR! 😃 I'm sorry the series was so heavy that it kind of made him go into a dark place while filming it 😔, but overall, I'm really glad that he went outside of the grain and did something very different from the norm! 😊

When Mr. Arno Dun opened his door to let me into his tiny downtown flat, up on the twelve story and with that last-century 'one-bedroom' antique layout, even I was starstruck.

I've done interviews with everyone from CEOs to world leaders to the faces of A-list actor-musicians, but this was The. Arno. Dun. I, like most of our readers, grew up seeing his face on every box of cereal, snack bar, every ad both at home and on the street.

The face of the The Most Likeable Man, whose likeness had been leased by a a tenth of all companies in existence, lived in an apartment that was not worth the price of one minute of his own face.

The first thing he said to me, he confessed, was that he couldn't afford his own likeness either.

"I kick myself every day for letting that clause stay in the contract," he told me. "I didn't realize at the time, or I thought, or hoped, that they weren't serious about not letting me use my own face for personal use."

The room we were sitting in was nice enough, well-lit, and with family photos on a nearby desktop. While the grown children in the group photos shared close resemblance with Dun, his face was, of course, notably absent.

"I spent half my royalty money buying an old cottage out in the middle of nowhere," Dun said. "but that just made everything worse. People looked at my face, and wouldn't leave me alone. It was interesting, after seeing over 50 years of pre-aging for various brand and demographic-nicheing needs, how the most famous face in the world had actually ended up looking. More frown lines, and a saggier neck.

Still, a face rated most appealling to Broad Demographic Marketing aged more gracefully than most could ever hope for.

Q: so you've worked other jobs then?

A: oh for sure, sure-- whatever I found, here and there. I used to like working with people, but with my limitations, it's made that rather difficult. Q: How do you feel about the alternate-face clause, over half a century into the contract?

A: I don't mind it most of the time, to be honest. It means I don't show up in the background of stranger's videos as myself, so at least I never go viral that way. But…

A: I don't like it when I want to be in a photo. with my friends. with my family. I don't like seeing a stranger's face in the middle of them, instead of me.

Vikings star Travis Fimmel: meet the Victorian farm boy dazzling Hollywood

As Ragnar Lothbrok, the star of Vikings, Travis Fimmel lets his acting do the talking. Now, his talent for understatement is earning him some big roles in Hollywood

The soaring white sails of the Opera House and the grey steel arc of the Harbour Bridge are gleaming in the morning sun as the beelines of cars and pedestrians in the streets below weave into the organised chaos of rush hour, gearing up for another work day. But up here, perched above Sydney harbour on level 36 of the Shangri-La Hotel, all is peaceful, except for the civilised sound of clinking crockery and Travis Fimmel, padding about in his socks and trackies, snapping open a fridge door in the Blu Bar to grab two bottles of mineral water. He hands me one and for a brief moment we both stand in silent reverie, drinking in the dress-circle view. "Quite something, eh mate?" he says.

The star of the hit TV series Vikings is looking a tad unslept and dishevelled – his piercing ice-blue eyes are puffy and his thick brown mane could do with a brush (he will later 'fess up to a late night at the Star Casino, losing money on the blackjack tables). It's easy to forget that this serious actor, who is more easily recognised when he's on acting duty in his fierce Viking garb – tattooed, often bloodied skull, deer-skin tunic with matching axe and shield – started as a buffed-up underwear model for Calvin Klein. The sulking surfer boy face that launched 1001 billboards across the world in 2002 (reportedly causing the odd traffic jam by ogling drivers) has evolved into something weathered, handsome – and vastly more interesting. Like Mark Wahlberg before him, Fimmel doesn't like to talk about those camera-clicking days in his tighty-whiteys, and I've been warned if I so much as broach the subject he'll march out of the interview

I ask him whether he gets recognised much in the street. "Not much," he explains, slumping into a chair opposite me across a conference table in an adjoining room. "If you want to be seen, mate, you will. If you don't, well, you won't."

He takes a gulp of water, grabs a felt pen – and proceeds to doodle in a pad. Not an idle scribble, mind, but an elaborate sketch, which resembles a rather fetching Viking amulet as it begins to take shape. I've been reliably informed that Fimmel is uncomfortable doing interviews and that he only does them under sufferance because of the pesky publicity clause in his contracts (this particular chat took more than 18 months to organise

To top it off, although he's affable and exquisitely courteous, he's not exactly a big talker, tending to reply to questions in short, soft-spoken, matter-of-fact sentences (in preparation for this story, I read one Q&A in which the reporter's questions were approximately five times longer than Fimmel's answers). Although he occasionally looks you directly in the eye, I must confess that as I watch the 37-year-old doodle away to his heart's content there are one or two awkward moments when I'm tempted to spin my pen on the table or play Flappy Bird on my iPhone to puncture the silence.

After the first 10 minutes of our chat I decide that Fimmel, who grew up in country Victoria, is the shyest, most un-actorly actor I've ever interviewed. When he occasionally replies in more than two sentences at a time, it seems like a verbal explosion. I wind up abandoning most of my pre-prepared questions and trying to navigate a less formal conversation, starting with a subject that's usually fail-safe with most blokes: sport.

you were about to type something in response, but your typing was interrupted by the sound of a familiar voice.

the camera cut on, and you were greeted by a familiar face. she was smiling, seemingly fixing her audio settings.

"there we go, hi everyone!!" she waves at the camera, beginning to read some names out as she greets everyone.

if chat wasn't moving fast before, it certainly was now, it being filled with HIIII's, HELLOOOO's, and "HI JAYDE CAN U SAY MY NAME PLS ITS ___."

she'd chuckle at those comments, eventually replying and saying their name like they asked.

after chat died down though, she started speaking again. "alright! so as you may or may not know, im going to introduce you to someone during this stream!"

she smiled, looking away from the camera, mouthing something like, "d'you wanna come here?"

behind the camera, a blonde-haired male shook his head, looking down slightly. she laughed at this, putting up a finger to her camera and walking away from the frame.

"c'mon, i'll hold your hand okay?" she says to him softly, taking his hand in hers.

he nods at her, a small smile appearing on his freckled face. as they walk back into the frame she smiles.

"introducing!! my sweet boyfriend, freminet." she lets go of his hand, pulling him into a hug. he flustered-my waves at the camera, smiling at the physical contact.

j: good question! we met (sort of) because of his siblings actually. i bumped into him trying to get into the opera epiclese, and conveniently we sat next to each other in the front row.

f: jayde confessed first actually.

j: WHATT. saying "i love you" on a random tuesday doesn't count as an confession.

f: he chuckles at that. well, i asked her out one day we were hanging out. that confession was a mess though... he shakes his head, his cheeks slightly becoming pink.

j: it was really cute though! he was stuttering the whole time, it was so adorable.

f: acts of service, gift giving, and physical touch.

Deidre IS dating Alisaie from the later third of SB on!!! Esteem (who has to deal with ALL pushed down emotions not just the negative ones, such as "I can't fucking deal with a crush rn we don't have TIME for that there's a WAR going on") basically corners Deidre into biting the bullet and confessing XD.

Special knowledge tho... Is that Deidre's younger brother who ran away to become a pirate when he was 12 because their home life was not great (absentee mom that Deidre had to replace, Mom basically in Yotsuyu's pre-viceroy position but because of her father not her husband leading to.... Many half siblings Deidre had to raise) named Caelen ends up with Alphinaud XD. In-laws squared. Alphy is Bi and highly susceptible to 'the pirate is hot' u.u

What kind of dynamic does Wynn have with the twins?

esteem being used as a means by which deidre confesses is the funniest possible outcome to the drk storyline. this is everything i've ever wanted from esteem. fucking fantastic.

also i get alphinaud. pirates? hot. dont blame him whatsoever for that. i really like deidre's backstory!! it's really interesting. does she ever visit her half siblings?? is her mom ok now, or is she still stuck in that kind of situation??

wynn is very much a parental/older sibling figure to the twins!! especially during their initial forays into eorzea when things were the roughest. they do their best to keep an eye on the two in the hopes that the twins don't find themselves in over their heads, but wind up failing more often than not. f.

i don't think in my canon alwynn left with minfilia and the other scions after the bloody banquet; i find it hard to believe they would have left ul'dah unless alphinaud was with them, and i don't think they would have let minfilia go back either even though hydaelyn wanted her to remain behind. so instead they escaped with alphinaud and pipin.

which also meant that the status of the rest of the scions was in even more doubt than it is in canon. i think alphinaud and wynn probably got really close in the time between ARR and HW+in the beginning of heavensward, given that as far as either of them knew they were the only scions left. it was very much a "i can't lose you too" type of situation.

alisae and alwynn got their own special "oh god we're all alone" bonding time in the post-sb patches after the other scions got called away to the first, which especially fucked with alwynn after alisae got pulled away in front of them. tough luck mate.

I was talking with @livingincolorsagain and these random thoughts came into my head and next thing you know, it became a million years long. It’s kind of long, so putting some of it under a read more.

Also, shout-out to @talk3tiv3 @lupusxuniversum and @saryasy for wanting me to post it, so here.

So, I was thinking about writing and having this idea about Bucky not able to be able TO write (he can journal but journaling isn’t really something polished and unique, it’s just emotion and thought dumping for his own private eyes) but he has all these overwhelming feelings about Sam. 

He wishes he could write beautiful love letters, like he had been taught in the past, but words end up clumsy and silly in his head after all he’s been through and he thinks that the 40’s version of him could do that but not him. And all his letters would be too hard or plain for a guy like Sam who deserves romance and to be wooed. 

His therapist suggests if he wants to write creatively but letters and stories are too hard, to find another medium. Maybe something like drawing or music or etc. Bucky says he’ll think about it. Even though he went to art school with Steve, drawing was more Steve’s thing and he was skilled at it. Bucky’s art skills tend to be more engineer based and whatever he draws wouldn’t convey the feelings in his heart. He’s ok at singing — not the worst but not the best, he can hold a decent note but not all the time, and sometimes when he gets too distracted, either caught in the feeling or too goofy, his voice goes off key. He doesn’t want to embarrass Sam like that, though Sam being serenaded is an idea he tucks away into a pocket. 

And then he goes to the bookstore, a local one that has second hand books but also sells new things and they’re having a live reading of some local artist. Bucky stands around in the back, curious of the group, and turns out it’s a poet, reading some of their favorite poems but also a few of their own from their new book. 

And the poetry — the poetry ranges from extremely beautiful and full of flowery prose to some very simple but hard hitting lines that stick after the next one is read. There’s prose poetry and poetry with rhyme that seems more like the melody line of a song. The last fifteen minutes, which is what Bucky catches, goes by quick with a short q&a session, and Bucky gets the courage to ask about poetry, writing it, how to go about it, especially if you haven’t done it before. It’s the last question that gets answered coz it was so thoughtful, and the poet gets too into the answers but that’s ok coz the rest of the audience is raptured just as Bucky is. It feels like the lecture hall of an English class and Bucky is the most willing student.

And then once the answer is finished, the autograph session is up and Bucky gets in line, sees the table full of the poet’s work. Several books, including the newest, but also a selected anthology of poems with annotations from the poet, a mix of their work and others. Bucky picks up that one, seeing the subject matter is varied along with their newest book. It’s autobiographical almost, but it talks about life, loss, love, and politics and the way the world affects those with a voice not of the white, cisheteronormative majority, especially non-Christian, and it’s certainly an eye opener. It’s someone’s voice not of his own but not to control him, but to tell their own truth to share to others willing to listen. Yeah, he hasn’t bought it yet, but he is gonna get it signed. 

He’s near the end of the line, letting others go first who might want to see this poet, vibrating with anticipatory excitement. And then his turn comes up and the poet’s eyes brighten and thank him for such a wonderful question. And then, seeing both books, asks 1) which one he’d like to sign or if he wants both coz he’s near the end of the line so it’s no struggle and 2) what made him ask that question earlier. And he confesses a bit about having all these thoughts and feelings but no way to put it in words until he heard the poetry today. And he wondered if that could be for himself too. And the poet is like, well, it might not always turn out good, but you keep writing until something feels right and you do it again and again. You can keep the old attempts or trash it, you can edit the hell out of things if he’s that kind of person or just start from scratch, but it’s a process of discovery if he’s willing to take it and not be perfect from the get go. But it’s definitely guaranteed to help get all those feelings out no matter now pretty the words sound or not. 

And then Bucky gives thanks and the poet asks for his name and he gives his full name, James Buchanan Barnes but if you’d like to use my common nickname, that’s fine and the poet pauses and blinks looking at him like, I knew you looked a bit familiar. Are you for real that’s your name? 

Bucky laughs like, yeah yeah that’s me and the poet is like I know people name their kids after famous people all the time so your name isn’t what bugs me it’s just putting your name with your face made it click. 

Bucky goes, oh. 

And they both have a laugh and Bucky goes “you can address it to Bucky, if you want” and then the poet writes some words of encouragement on the anthology hoping these poems will help guide Bucky on his writing journey for whatever is inside his head and heart and for their own hoping he enjoys these words written, to a fellow poet. And then they shake hands and Bucky rings up the books, not getting any of the other potential new sci-fi or fantasy novels he was thinking of getting and goes home. 

Sam isn’t home which is good coz he doesn’t want him to know what he purchased. Puts the books in his room.

He brings out a clean journal from his journal stash — he hasn’t stopped chronicling his life for his own edification and he sometimes doesn’t want to go buy some more to write it down. Finds one that looks “artsy” enough and picks a pen and starts writing. It’s all a dump of feelings and emotions, loss, memory, belonging, feeling out of time. Also about rediscovery, healing, finding home again, finding hope, finding a love he never thought he’d fine. Home and happiness and family and a place to belong. And Sam. All thorough lines that lead to Sam.

Sam sees Bucky scribbling away in these notebooks from time to time but doesn’t question it — not from his collection when they confiscated it back in Romania (and took forever to get back) or when he asked him about it and Bucky explained it was for his memory and therapy. 

But on a free weekend, one day, he sees him with the light shining down on his face, sometimes almost like a painting or a well shot photograph and he makes these faces, sometimes beaming with pride, sometimes scrunched like he’s scrutinizing something under a microscope and then crossing things out enthusiastically or erasing depending on if it’s a pen or pencil. And it gets Sam curious. Bucky has been writing with more face journeys going on than he usually does just journaling. 

And he asks. 

Bucky lightly goes, “oh, I got into poetry recently. Something my therapist suggested.” 

Sam is like “you, writing poetry?” 

Bucky goes “yeah, I don’t know if it’s any good but it’s nice to create something, something positive with these hands.” 

And Sam thinks those hands have done positive things already: fix the boat, help out with their neighbors, with Sarah and the boys watching over them or helping with errands or family game nights, helping Sam with his wounds, shielding people from getting hurt, lending a hand to pick them up. 

But Sam doesn’t say anything and he goes makes a joke about Bucky wanting to be the next best American poet and Bucky laughs and goes hell no, I’m not that good, but thanks for the vote of confidence. 

And then Sam drops it and asks if he wants anything for lunch since there’s still leftovers but he’s gonna fix a sandwich on his weekend off. And Bucky goes you go ahead, I can fix one myself and gets back to writing, the cats winding their bodies around Sam’s feet in the kitchen since Bucky is too preoccupied. Sam setting a sandwich on the side table anyway as he scrolls on his phone, reading his ebooks or watching a vid or two at a reasonable volume so he can hear it but not distract Bucky. The cats sometimes looking at Bucky but then cuddling with Sam. 

Bucky, finishing, lost in his words and sees Sam lightly napping on the couch, the cats doing the same. The sandwich on the plate. He writes about the serenity and how perfect that moment is. Home and peace right there. Takes a pic with his phone surreptitiously and makes it his lock screen before he eats the sandwich. Cleans up after both he and Sam and washes the dishes, the cats mildly awake and listening to the rushing water but don’t move.

Bucky starting prep on early dinner because time flew so fast. He makes something he’s good at that Sam also thinks is good and they haven’t had it in awhile. Once it’s out of the prep stage the cats get active again and start to eat and drink while Bucky is in full swing, Sam waking up to the smell of home cooked meals made with love and Bucky lightly humming. 

He rubs his bleary eyes and trots slowly to the kitchen, asks with a yawn if Bucky wants any help and he says, no but it’s almost done, I need to set the table and Sam touches his arm going, I’ll do it and goes and does it. 

After it’s set, Sam peers over Bucky’s shoulder as he’s taste testing for seasoning and Sam’s like let me and like an indirect kiss he tests it and it really is the right balance of seasoned. Bucky’s cooking practice is paying off. 

And it’s there Bucky can’t help himself with Sam’s soft smile of contentment, pleased at the taste, his warm brown eyes, and the close proximity of him — he tells him a poem. A poem about him, and love. It’s short, it’s from his heart, it’s about right now. 

Sam blinks and he goes “that’s beautiful. Who wrote it?” 

Bucky goes, I did. Just now. 

Sam is all damn that’s wow. You? Just now? That’s good poetry, Buck. 

Bucky goes, “only because it comes from the heart”. 

And then, he says another poem, about his heart, his love, and the two of them. 

Sam laughing a shocked chuckle, are you confessing to me? Are you saying you love me? Are you pulling moves right now? 

Bucky goes it’s not a move when it’s what I really feel for you. 

And Sam, Sam’s eyes are tearing up, he can’t believe it, and Bucky turns the stove off, he places the spoon down, he cups Sam’s face, his thumb brushing his check under his eyes like don’t cry, sweetheart I don’t want to make you sad and Sam grabbing his hand and going and kissing his palm, kissing his lips, chaste and sweet and a tear falls; he presses his forehead against Bucky’s while Bucky wipes his tears and he looks at him and his eyes are saying it’s been so long since someone loved me like that who wasn’t obligated, someone who has seen me at my highs and lows, someone who has been with me to the brink and back and Bucky kisses him again and goes I love you, Sam.

Then the cats meowing leads them to break away and for Bucky to serve dinner, for Sam to hear all of Bucky’s poetry writing woes and journey, interspersed with Sam’s thoughts of the day — catching up on family, neighborhood gossip, his viewpoints on some of his high school friends getting together and the few videos he watched while Bucky was writing. Both of them laughing and rapt with attention. And love, so much love. 

And then later, for Sam’s birthday, he gives him a little rough handmade booklet of paper full of poems he wrote about him.

His therapist, after he reveals this, is pleasantly happy and surprised, along with the good developments in his life. 

And Bucky is truly happy, settled in a way. He has a family, a home, a love, a community, purpose, a place to belong. It’s not always smooth and some days there are setbacks but they’re surmountable. 

And there’s Sam. Sam’s happiness can get him through all the dark days, he’s sure.

A - Affection; how they like to show their love.

Regulus does a lot through touch and reassuring looks/smiles. He finds it hard sometimes to express just how he feels about you, especially considering expressions of love were severely lacking in his life. But when he holds your hand or caresses your face, he feels as if he's spilling all his secrets, and hopes that you understand them.

B - Beauty; what do they especially admire about you?

Your warmth. At first it was practically disarming, but overtime he learned to embrace it and miss it when it was absent, when you were absent. It would be so different to what he was used to, especially with the people closest to him. But he would adore the change that was you.

C - Cuddles; how they like to cuddle you.

Most of the time he likes to have his arms around you, sitting up slightly while you lay against his chest. There's a sense of safety he finds in knowing that you can hear his heartbeat and that it doesn't scare you off. But sometimes, he likes it when you take him in your arms and he can nuzzle in the crook of your neck.

D - Dancing; their favourite place to dance with you.

He is simply a hopeless romantic, and loves to dance with you when it's dark and raining outside, when the two of you are almost completely alone. He loves watching you smile as the rain seeps into your clothes and dampens your hair, and when you rest your head on his chest for some shelter.

E - Excitement; do they get excited with you about things?

Regulus likes to understand things before he gets excited about them with you. If you come running to him with an elated expression and start rambling about whatever brought you this pleasure, he'd want to know why. He'd want to understand you and relate to you. Almost always, he'd become just as excited as you.

F - First Date; your first date together.

The Astronomy Tower. Regulus would want to be alone with you, without prying or judging eyes. It wouldn't be much, maybe some snacks and a drink he brought for you, but he would want to hear you talk and laugh and to see you smile. He'd want to know your likes and dislikes, the memories you cherished, and things you looked back on and laughed at.

G - Goals; do they have things they want to achieve? Do they include you in these things?

For Regulus, his future goals remain largely unclear. Before you, he thought it was simple, but afterwards it would become far more complicated. With the weight of his family, and Sirius' abandonment making it heavier, he would often try to avoid the thought. But if you ever brought it up, he'd tell you that wherever you were, he would be.

H - Honesty; how open are they with you?

Very. Trust is something extremely important to him. While he may not tell you everything the second it happens, he does have every intention of letting you see every side of him, even the parts he wished would vanish from existence. Upon getting to know you, the trials of his family would be revealed slowly, rather than all at once, so he didn't overwhelm you. Of course, he'd be terrified, but he knew it was better that way, and he knew that you would love him all the same.

I - I Love You; do they say it a lot? did they say it first?

Regulus does not say it first, though he'd be sure he felt it first. He confesses straight after you, though, and gradually says it more and more over time. Expressing his feelings would not come easy, and sometimes, rather than tell you how much he appreciated you for listening or how beautiful he thought you were, he simply said 'I love you' in replacement, hoping that it would be enough.

J - Jealousy; do they get jealous?

Not necessarily jealous, but rather insecure. When he sees you laughing with someone else, he'd wonder whether they were better suited to you--they were warmer, more free, happier. Perhaps he brought you down, perhaps he weighed you down, and though he didn't express these insecurities out loud, he'd always seem to be easily read by you. And you'd always be there to reassure him when you needed to.

K - Kiss; their favourite place to kiss you.

Your hands. For Regulus, hands mean so much, represent so much, and yours are his to kiss and hold as much as he pleases. To him it would feel incredibly intimate, despite the fact that your hands can touch others, but that they're only his to kiss and hold. People can always get close, but never as close as he can.

L - Little Spoon; who’s the little spoon?

The majority of the time, you are the little spoon. He likes the idea that he is able to protect you, actually make you feel safe and wanted; it's one of the things he prides himself on. But, there woulds be times when he needed to feel that, and revelled in the warmth of your embrace tightening around him, holding him close.

M - Melody; what’s your song together?

I think your song together would be 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' by The Beatles.

N - Nicknames; do they use nicknames for you?

Yes a few. Some of them would include 'treasure' and/or 'my treasure' because he adores you and could not think of anything better than you. For him, you are what people search for their whole lives, sometimes without ever finding it. And, because he speaks French, ‘mon chéri /ma chérie' for definite.

O - Open Book; how hard was it to get to know them?

It wasn't necessarily hard, just gradual. However, you would have always suspected that Regulus did not have it easy and were content with him going at his own pace, and appreciating that he was brave enough to reveal it all to you. It never seemed too slow, rushed, or overwhelming--he picked his timings well and never let things become too heavy. He'd also be very conscious that everyone had their own burdens, and would make sure he always left time and room for you to air anything you wanted or needed.

P - PDA; how affectionate they are in public.

Not very much at all. He prefers to show you his love when it's just the two of you. But he isn't afraid to let other people know that you're in a relationship, and will often intertwine his fingers with yours, whisper things in your ear, and kiss your temple.

Q - Quirk: a weird but loveable trait of theirs.

He never signs his name, he always signs R.A.B. Even when it's small notes to you, little love letters, or ordinary letters, he will never sign it as Regulus, but with his full initials.

R - Romance; how romantic are they?

So much. He loves leaving you love notes, writing love letters to you, slow dancing with you, playing music for you, watching the stars with you, whispering sweet nothings in your ear, snuggling up in bed with you with a good book. He loves to do it all.

S - Secrets; do they keep secrets from you?

Not really. Perhaps only ones he thinks would unnecessarily hurt you, like what his family says about you. He doesn't tell you because he doesn't think it matters, they don't matter to him, only you do, and he wants their words to mean nothing.

T - Thrill; do they like to keep the relationship new and exciting?

He likes to, and he tries. He certainly likes surprising you, even if only to see that smile. He likes taking you places, learning your favourite songs on the piano simply because you like hearing them, taking you on spontaneous trips or dates. He's not on for grand, public gestures, but he still keeps excitement in the relationship his own way. But he also knows when things need to be slow and calm, and doesn't mind it either way.

U - Understanding; how they comfort/support when you’re upset or anxious.

He knows that most things said would be wrong, even if they were intended to be reassuring and understanding. Even when you talk about what's bothering you or don't, it can be hard to say the right thing. So instead, he takes you in his arms, rubs your back, kisses your cheek and gets you any comfort foods that you wish for. Sometimes, words speak far less than actions.

V - Vexed; how easily they lose their temper.

With his family, and even with Sirius, Regulus can lose his temper very quickly, but you understand that their relationship has not been easy, nor do you care for his family. With you, it's rare that he loses his temper or raises his voice at you. When he does, there are usually other factors that have contributed to his mood, and he is quick to apologise afterwards.

W - Weakness; what’s their weakness what it comes to you?

Your smile. So easily it can make him feel like he's falling from the stars, watching the constellations become smaller and smaller as he slips into the earth's atmosphere, burning and smiling and falling completely in love with you every time he sees it.

Regulus likes to speak in French to you when there are things he is too afraid to say or things he thinks sound more romantic when said in another language. Even if you can understand him, there's something less nerve-racking about saying it in French, it's almost like he's playing himself in another world, but still hopelessly in love with you.

He doesn't like to think about the future often because he knows how easily it can change and fail to meet your expectations. He only hopes that he is with you, facing whatever is to come. He prefers to focus on the present, where he already is with you.

Incredibly still, almost scarily still. The only time he moves is to be closer to you, closer to your exuding warmth.
