EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE

Erderly people often have trouble with learning about new ways of communication. That’s why my classmates and I have decided to create a educational resource to help the out!

Per fer-ho ens distribuirem per espais culturals on hi va gent de la tercera edat per fer conferencies explicant l’ús d’una xarxa social molt coneguda, l’Skype. Volem tractar aquest tema degut a l’evidència de l’increment de les estafes, sobretot a nivell telefònic, a la gent gran. Un dels casos que es produeixen més sovint es dóna quan alguns membres de la família viatgen a un altre estat i els avis volen comunicar-se amb ells. En molts casos, i degut al reajust de les pensions també, això ha suposat una situació econòmica familiar critica, ja que les factures telefòniques s’han pogut fins i tot quadruplicar el preu. Amb la intenció d’eradicar aquestes estafes i de la modernització, introducció i potenciació de l’ús de les noves tecnologies, ens comprometem a informar, ensenyar i tractar de les noves tecnologies amb tots aquells interessats. La nostra finalitat és que tota aquella gent gran interessada i amb recursos disponibles pugui utilitzar l’Skype amb tota normalitat. Per fer-ho repartirem infografies amb l’explicació de què, on i quan ho farem per a reunir el màxim possible de discents i optimitzar el nostre recurs. A més comptarem amb el suport d’un prezi per a presentar el projecte i un PowToon explicatiu per a sintetitzar la nostra idea. Ambdós els adjuntem a continuació.

also, i ran into smoothie boy yesterday while out with brown eyes. smoothie boy cut his hair and fuck i forgot how cute he was. he might come out to my performance for hhcc. i doubt he will but i mean he said he’d try and he asked about dance which means he remembers stuff about me. he was also the only one to hug me out of the other people he was with and i knew one of them better than him possibly. i’d really like to see him more often if anything. he’s a super cool dude and i miss seeing his face.

i don’t think i talked about it yet, but jay made a promo video for hhcc and the whole thing gives me that feel i get from music. like it’s honestly like a movie and it makes me feel so whole and like i belong somewhere and i just love the video so much. so it really sucks that hhcc is low-key falling apart. but that’s okay i have a wonderful mentee i love and can look after and i can get as much back as i put in so i just gotta give it all.

Internet Security

Now a day everyone uses the Internet some way or another. Some use it for social media, to see who has “liked” our posts, to find out what our friends where up to yesterday by going onto Facebook (because if you don’t post it, it’s like you haven’t even done it). Others use the Internet to read the news on different papers and to check what the weather is going to be that day. Very few people can say they don’t use the Internet every day.

It’s very easy to keep yourself connected and even more in a dangerous way. Since you are a little kid, you can go onto Internet and be a part of this weird virtual world by creating a digital identity. A digital identity anyone can see. There are no limits, and that’s the reason why people have to learn and get educated about the dangers it can affect them mentally and physically being a part of the Internet. The parents of the minor are responsible of this education, as well as the school. However, it is the parents who would see a change in the behaviour of their child if an addiction to stay connected begins.

Isolation, little interest in their relationships, in their academic activities, in their own health and hygiene can be important signs to detect an addictive issue to being connected. If this is the case, the minor will try to maintain connected as long as possible to feel satisfied, but as time goes on this feeling will disappear, and then they will want to spend more and more time on the computer or their phone. When they stop being connected, they get an unpleasant feeling and it affects their personal relationships.

When this addiction is detected, the parents or the educator has to apply solutions to solve the problem to help with the minor’s mood, in which by now would be nervous, depressed and frustrated. The first and hardest step is to get the minor to accept there is a problem. Until they don’t understand they spend too much time on the Internet, there is no way to solve anything. When this is achieved it’s not a good idea to totally ban the use of their computer or phone. What professionals recommend is to set time limits, to not be able to use their phone when it’s lunch or dinner time. It is also very important that this addictive behaviour is what it’s causing the mood swings of the minor.

Getting an education on the dangers of the Internet is super important. Not only because it’s easy to get addicted at any age, but also because privacy is something everyone deserves and is often overlooked at on the web.
