Scratching my brain trying desperately to think of a combination of idiots that have not kissed eachother

I think what really fucks with my head and made me come back here is that they really thought they were a sure thing.

Like, when Harry sang "Baby, you were the love of my life" and when Louis said "meeting the person you might spend the rest of your life with at 18" is just confirmation to me.

They thought they were each others' forever when they were barely kids. Which is normal, because teenage love is something intense and you think you're gonna feel that way forever, but also. There's something quietly devastating in the thought of two teens just knowing, living together and hoping and seeing the rest of their lives unfurl right in front of them when they look at each other, and already knowing the hardships that life together involves and wanting it just the same, wanting it deeply. Wanting it to the point that years and years and years later, when adolescence and its candyfloss dreams of a future are already gone, when adulthood has set in, when laughter lines are forming, you still think of that person and "that was the love of my life". Your life had barely started and you had found them but you were too young to navigate the world together.

You're supposed to remember your first love fondly, ten years down the line. You're supposed to quietly chuckle when you think you wanted to spend the rest of your life, all 70+ years of it, with them, because those are the dreams of youth and down the line you've found more mature loves, you've realised it could never work the way you thought at 18, the way you dreamed at 16.

Being the love of someone's life is something that happens when you're older. Because it's not the love of your youth, candy and skinned knees and cigarettes you can barely smoke without feeling faint, it's the love of your whole life. You only get one of those, I think. Some don't even get one, they get important loves and fleeting loves and loves they can't get over until they do and loves that overcome death. But being the love of someone's life means you're supposed to be there from the start to the finish line, even when you're not actually, physically there. To think that at 18, it's normal, it's free falling for the first time. To think it at 26, of the very same person, it means it was real. It was true and maybe you let it go, maybe you didn't, maybe it's just a pause to catch your breaths and you know you'll find each other again, but. I think it just confirms what we've always thought, of that look they gave each other. "Even as young as you are?" Nod, and then look, and then look away, as if you've exposed your vulnerable belly to the only person who could pierce it, the only person who matters, who has the ability to burst your bubble. Even as young as they were.

I don't ascribe to the idea of "the eyes of love", usually, because pictures never show you the full story and editing is a storytelling form and storytelling is everything, but. That look. That look is what TS meant when she said "the look in my eyes that would have loved you for a lifetime". And that's okay because it's sweet and it's teenagers choosing baby names, but that usually stops. You don't go around calling your first s.o. the person you might spend the rest of your life with.

There's something to be said for the fact that H, who, even with his lothario bullshit image, even as part of a boyband where fanservice and common sense would dictate he should keep himself free and available, has always been someone who's wanted to get married and have children and he wanted that as early as 17, still has not come even close to that. In the public eye, love of my life can only be about England (despite, y'know, the inconsistencies around the fact that a whole country could never take a fucking plane, Harold) because there's no way any of his public relationships could be defined as the love of his life. There's no one he's shared this much of his life with, at 27 (by now 30, but he's written it that he had barely reached a quarter of a century. This makes me nauseous).

Except there is (or there has been) somebody, and that same somebody talks about knowing you'll grow old with someone when you're barely old enough to drink and how that responsibility was too big for their heads. It makes me feel sick to think of the way L talks about too young because it's like. It's not someone you want to spend the rest of your life with. It's someone you might spend the rest of your life with. It's not about wanting, it's not about wishes, it's about knowing the possibility is very real and a foregone conclusion unless life gets in the way. It's not the uncomplicated heat of star crossed lovers who dream of being together but ultimately can't. It's still waters, running deep, after years and years and years. It's the reality of loving someone and knowing you're gonna fight and still love them. It's hindsight telling you your foresight was right all along, and that must be scary enough.

I don't know what they're doing right now, I don't know what is happening in their lives, but I hope they find peace. I hope they find each other again, if they've ever lost each other. Or they find a new love, a love that doesn't make them live with the regret of their could-have-been. I wish them the best, I wish for them to be able to look back and chuckle at how young they were.

I love you, family. Dad, because you are my biggest fan, and I’ll never get tired of the way you smile when I pick up a guitar and play. Mom, for being my best friend and most trusted companion, even in times when you were my only friend. That was just fine. Hi Allie, as a new Larrie, thank you for all of your resources! I'm making a chronological order playlist of songs written about their relationship (songs by either H, L, or both). I found your timeline for HH and it was helpful. Do you know if songwriting timelines for HS1, FL, Walls or even 1D songs already exists somewhere? Or have info about when "Larry" songs were written?

Hi, dear. Wow this is going to be hard, I’m going to link you the songs I can remember we have information about, but I really don’t know about the others, you’re really going to have to dig deeper. Figuring out where and who they wrote the songs with can help you, so IMO you should look for the co-writers and the studios they recorded to try to track it down from there. 1D songs are easier because they had limited time to write most of the songs since they had a crazy schedule with one album per year.

Midnight Memories = were written mid-2013

Four = early/mid-2014

MITAM = between April and June 2015 (here's more info about Home and IICF)

HS1 = Harry was filming Dunkirk between May- June 2016, he cut his hair in early May and we know he wrote these songs before that:

After Dunkirk, Harry and Louis completely disappeared in Jamaica between September and October 2016, I believe most songs of HS1 were written in this period, except for Two Ghosts, here's a post with this discussion.

Walls = They were back in Jamaica apparently between Feb and March 2017 as well, and Louis implied he wrote Always You not long after that (here's a post), he wrote WMI around Autumn 2017. And Walls and KMM were the last two songs written for the album so probably somewhere in 2019, you really going to have to dig here because there's this gap between 2017-2019 when Louis wrote a lot of songs.

Fine Line = There's a timeline for Fine Line here.

FITF = No timelines as well, but apparently he didn't start writing until after he left Syco in July 2020 (he mentions being excited to start writing again). He has a lot of pictures in the studio between May and June 2021, he was in Mexico in April 2021, so this seems to be his most productive months on writing FITF. He wrote WAOYF during Autumn 2021, and BTM early in the process. He tells where and who he wrote most songs during the listening party, so I’m sure these tweets will be able to help.
