So I just finished Burning Shores, and it was alright!

Fighting a HORUS? AMAZING!!!

Helping to bring home all the Quen? Felt good!

But uh, Seyka? And that whole thing? Hm...

I don't like that they pushed Seyka to be Aloy's romantic interest, where so far they've not given an option. I get that she's similar to Aloy in most aspects, but I really don't like how it was obvious from the start that they were going to try and culminate into a romance, for the first time, with someone Aloy knows for like 3 days :/

Aloy has only just begun to open up with people, accepting friendships/just general interactions with people that were denied for most of her life right now. Now, as much as I ship Aloy with people (Talanah/Erend/Avad/etc), she's not in a position to jump to another tier of personal relationship this early on in her personal journey past being a Sobeck clone. I 1000000% don't mind the LGBTQ aspect of this at all, and I kind of thought they said Aloy was gay already???, so please don't think this is me against that at all. No, I don't like the fact there's been no indication of being able to romance, and they push it on this woman Aloy doesn't know in a DLC, rather than exploring that in FW :/

Overall I thought it was alright, just kind of short. The setting is really well done, the story was pretty good, and seeing some older faces like Gildun made Burning Shores feel a lot more connected <3

Also, it was really touching/heartbreaking to see Sylens, and the tribute was really nice at the end <3

Just finished the Horizon Burning Shores DLC and not sure how I feel about the Seyka/Aloy pairing. On the one hand, awesome! Glad that it’s confirmed Aloy is canonically queer! But on the other hand, since this was a DLC, it felt kind of rushed and I didn’t have much time to really grow to like Seyka as much as I did the other characters in the main games. I think if they had much more time to flesh out her character and her dynamic with Aloy I would have been happier. I’m all for a slow burn and this ain’t it.

Hopefully they’ll get more playtime together in the next game and the story allows them to rekindle the relationship at a slower pace. The ship has potential, and I think that would be more interesting for me. But as it stands now I’m just kinda ehh about it
