this made me tear up. from the perspective of someone who has been disabled for all their life with a condition like viktor’s, those moments where he’s floating hit so hard.

for the first time in life, he likely felt no pain in his body, weightless and unburdened. he could move without the pain and GODS it makes me wanna cry. the mere thought of being free from the chains of chronic pain is overwhelming. i can’t blame viktor for wanting to “evolve” himself - it’s rooted in internalized ableism and the desire to live unbound by your disability’s limits.

and god, people fail to realize how important jayce’s leg getting injured and becoming “crippled” is. his journey in the destroyed future mimics viktor. i honestly don’t think the timeline would have succeeded if jayce didn’t experience that, for it was that personal experience that gave jayce the final piece to truly connect with viktor.

ANYWHO viktor will forever be my favorite character and i love jayce and i love jayvik

A nice little detail I noticed tonight.

They bar the door with Viktor’s cane, so when the Enforcers break in, the cane breaks too.

And then the next thing we see is Viktor floating, with his amazed smile, his childlike wonder.

There’s this sweet, almost bittersweet implication that he’s transcended his body, just for a moment.

He won’t feel so free in his body again for years, until he drops his crutch and runs on the docks.

The ways that their partnership is imprinted on his body, and the stages of it reflected through his body—how he finds freedom and joy that first night; how he’s wasting away during the period when Jayce’s attention was elsewhere; how Jayce reconstructs him through love and it’s too much for him to take; how Jayce’s body comes to mirror his; how they’re both bodiless in the end, and free, like it’s taken them years of suffering to reach the purity of that first free moment again—will always be so moving to me.

Arcane is a story written on Viktor’s body.

OK HI REBLOG CUZ I FOUND A BETTER PICREW!!! also add another hybrid to the pair and also also to go into the lore, thank you @oneoftheextras aka jude aka creator of lockjaw for answering my questions lol <3 here's the trio below!!

from left to right, we have mimi (19, mouse hybrid, she/her), kiwi (21, bunny hybrid, she/her), and sage (human, 24, they/them)

mimi and kiwi were adopted at a very young age (age 1 for mimi, age 3 for kiwi) after sage's mother, emma finley, met them at the hybrid assistance organization she worked for. because mimi and kiwi were adopted so young, they were raised more so as children than as pets with sage as their older sibling. it was sage who named the pair 'mimi' and 'kiwi' as a young child, which their parents used as inspo for mimi and kiwi's legal names, miriam and kiara finley.

growing up, sage never thought differently of hybrids, a protective and fierce older sibling towards their younger sisters. their parents emma and connor did their best to ensure a good future for all three of their kids, but given the societal bigotry and stigma around hybrids, they had limited options. while sage would attend regular school, mimi and kiwi received their education at home by emma, who opted for a remote position with the hybrid assistance organization so she could raise her kids.

mimi would later express interest in computer science while kiwi would find love with creating art, learning to do so while under emma's schooling curriculum. meanwhile, sage would find themself thriving in debating at school.

in the present day, sage lives with mimi and kiwi in a modest apartment funded by their parents. sage attends law school while mimi and kiwi pursue their passions at home. the three siblings cherish one another very much and because of their sibling bond, sage is an out-spoken supporter of hybrid rights and hopes to become a lawyer to make that a reality.

jayce & viktor?? these boys LOVE plus-sized people. viktor’s a stick so he uses plus-sized!reader as a pillow or a weighted blanket when he’s overstimulated. jayce, on the other hand, loves how soft plus-sized!reader is in comparison to his muscular form and loves to cradle them like a beloved stuffy. both love plus-sized!reader’s rolls, dips, cheeks, etc. (thinking of their body makes jayce blush and viktor feral)
