A narrow antique copper tub is a handsome, albeit unusual space saver. The bath has been slightly raised above ground level to show it to greater effect, and the tiles have been continued up over the edge of the platform.

I always liked complex patterns that were created using a single tile. For example, the following pattern looks rather complex at first glance.

But it is actually created using a single hexagonal tile.

The idea came from a board game called Palago which uses exactly these tiles. Here is the middle part of the pattern using actual tiles. Unfortunately I don't have enough tiles to create the next level.

Another interesting property of this pattern is that it can be extended into an infinite pattern which is aperiodic. This pattern shows up for example in the tiling of the aperiodic tile found by Joshua E. S. Socolar and Joan M. Taylor. (Not to be confused with the recently found aperiodic monotile by David Smith, Joseph Samuel Myers, Craig S. Kaplan and Chaim Goodman-Strauss)

our medicine cabinet fell off the wall in our bathroom so we r taking the opportunity to paint the walls and change things around a little and i’m just. rly rly excited
#we live in a rly old building w cool little hexagonal floor tiles and a big old window in the shower and a pedestal sink#lots of charming details#but the walls are this horribleeee like purple brown toned gray???#and the lightbulb is RLY yellow#and there’s ugly window film on the window and all the old white shelving was put in poorly#so i’m excited to give it the love and care and respect it deserves !!!#the people who lived here before us were def trying to millennial gray the bathroom which is the most disrespectful thing 2 me#in such a pretty old building🥺🥺🥺#but a fresh coat of paint and new outlet covers and window film to honor the age of the house will go a long way :)#personal
