Day 2: Dreams and Nightmares

Another night, another nightmare. Alfred lay upon the bed, one arm stretched above his head and sweat glistening off his bare chest, the sheets wrapped around his legs. If someone had been in the room, they would have seen his eyes twitching beneath closed eyelids, soft moans and whispered “no”s coming from his lips.

In tonight’s nightmare, he was in a gray world devoid of any other living things. Plants  were doubled over, wilted. The trees were skeletal, branches fingers that scratched at the sky with each breeze. The air was hazy, filling Alfred’s nose and mouth with the acrid smell and taste of burnt. Then, suddenly, there was no more smell or taste. Like static on an ancient television screen, he sniffed and there was nothing to smell but a necrotic dead smell.

He kept walking, but there was nothing more. No one. No thing. No one that he loved was here. No thing that he held dear was here. No joy.

Panting, he sat bolt upright, panting. Running a single hand through his hair, combing back his bangs, he glanced at the clock. Two in the morning. This was a moment to gamble.

He could choose to go back to sleep, and hope for rest or face more nightmares. Or, he could just stay awake and greet the day, facing more of the never-ending exhaustion.

First one done by the author's hand, yet still a request OTL; second is part of events' crazyness canon (and heta). He's not the only country that dresses like a dad, others including his brother and America (post by coralcatsea gathering all 3) (+Hima thinks that young Americans dress like Japanese dads in specific, looks like the same thing Gil is wearing).

Heta-people could lag behind his own people fashion anyhow.

3 black hoodies, 2 from Hetaween + 1 leather(?) jacket, card illus (not very, canon...). He dresses in black, right, right? Right. Black Hoodies and Leather Jackets (+Denim) (and Boots, ignore the rest)

What to do with this information? Whatever you want. I use some sort of scale for multiple interpretations:

-Canon(plus): Dad Rock + Metalhead (Wacken Open Air ref) and/or Grunge. Maybe listens Punk >:(, maybe not anymore or only old bands, while only maybe has clothes with bands patches.

-Canon(plus) but still boring (fuck): Listens Punk (first love: East German Punk+Classic), however no piercings and not many bands patches :(((--Extra: Friends with punks but soon drives them insane or vice versa, can't live with them for long. Conclusion: Mf still too much soldier-like.

-Fuck it, ye olde good Punk!Gil: At least some piercings, has a battle jackets and the patches aren't only music themed; in friendly terms with the locals to the point of crashing in squatted places; dude likes teaching so could impart knowledge in self-managed community services... Not too much soldier-like anymore!

Hetaween 2022 Unfinished Draft

Day 8, Oct. 29th:

Prompts: Friendly Ghost / Moonlight / "What are you so afraid of?"

Danny Eflman’s croon floated through Alfred’s buggled, softened brain and lulled him into an easy sprawl of limbs across the couch. A martini glass tilted precariously on his knee.

“C’mon, Zero”

Wispy and simple, Zero drew close and sniffed skeletal claws. Surely, the familiar detected the depression hidden by advanced decay.

The screen went momentarily black and a pale, drawn face bore into his soul. 

Oh my yeeshy stars. 

Alfred finished the martini and paused A Nightmare Before Christmas to a pour sundae glass of Cuba libre dolloped generously with French vanilla ice cream.

“Why does nothing ever turn out like it should? It feels like COVID scared the Halloween spirit out of America, 

He shivered, “I can feel it in my bones.”

so, we've decided to change the blog name as we feel it will be very likely we go ahead with another hetaween event this year. you should still be able to find works specific to last year with the #hetaween 2022 tag, but it made sense to not have a year-specific blog if we're planning on having a recurring event! hope that makes sense to everyone, and we look forward to celebrating again with you later this year! 👻
