The people Normal wants fulfillment from in the department of family (sparrow) , friends (linc) and romance (hermie) arent avalible to him. But he continues to vie for their attention and sets himself up for being continually hurt. Normals father isnt proud of him. The role for Lincs best friend is already filled. Hermie doesnt return his feelings.

But at the same time, his mother has been there for him. Scarys always been the bro in his corner. And to say the least normal isnt emotionally ready for romance anyway.

Obviously what rebecca provides cant replace & isnt the issue w/ normal seeking the support he sorely needs from his father, and scary isnt his childhood friend, but these are still people that are and want to be by his side. Its very interesting that to normal he doesnt obtain the social fulfillment he desperately needs from the 3 particular people hes put on a pedestal he doesnt receive any at all and hes unloved and alone and no one understands him (rejecting the advances of people who would want to fill these roles while simultaneously still stewing and bemoaning the rejections towards him)

Utterly fascinated by how miserable of a person normal is and how he purposefully perpetuates it because of his fixation in wanting perfect unattainable scenarios to play out and how self aggrandizing he is through his self flagellation.
