reading exile rn, cant believe im almost done reading gog already... coryn falling so easily to the strigas manipulation has some sad implications tbh
#like coryn grew up entrenched in a similarly manipulative environment#among the pure ones knowledge was restricted and lies were told about their history#so its kind of depressing to see coryn so easily be swayed by a guy who thinks further restricting knowledge in the tree makes him more-#-virtuous yknow#its a combination of factors i think. coryns always been a little put off by his lineage and whether it makes him evil#so its easy to see why he would fall for the rhetoric of abandoning 'vanity'#as well as the dual nature of the ember of hoole. it can bring great power but it can corrupt those who are selfish#...i think coryn fears that he is similarly dual natured#and his upbringing makes him uniquely suceptible to the strigas tactics#and everyone thinks of the striga as a good owl for saving bell and helping out during a fight against the pure ones#being resistant to him initially seems ungrateful. and then you let him in for a little bit and then hes got you and now hes burning owls#at the stake#hes a good villain so far im enjoying exile quite a bit
