But in movies like this, it is v common to see women act just as a pillar of support for the man to come home to when he faces failure. it was my pleasure writing it. i looooved maara/bommi, it has been a long time since i was this invested in a romance story for a top hero in recent memory, and even less so in suriya’s films recently tbh. i think the last pairing i loved this much was rc2 with priyamani, and even then her char wasn’t as fleshed out as aparna’s

bommi was really written soo well and i know the bar is so low in tamil cinema that we’re all falling for a woman with an arc separate from the hero and has her own goals to achieve not tied to his, but that’s really the state we’re at unfortunately. i wish it sets a new standard too but considering big hero subjects are usually very shallow and bland with their women leads, i’m not having my hopes up. sp was just a nice breath of fresh air in her characterisation and their romance too having the emotional and sexual weight without the crudeness.

me tooo i was already interested in them from the trailer alone and the pics they released. so i was pretty hopeful maara/bommi would not just be a good pair but also have good chemistry since i could feel suriya/aparna’s vibes from the promos alone, and i was right. they were great together

i am sooo glad for aparna’s casting too. i love that she isn’t the slim and fair heroine we always get. she looked natural and good and i loved her in it and actually found her very attractive on her own, with or without maara, which is not something i say for most of suriya’s heroines in his films. some of the best pairs for suriya have been people like aparna or priyamani in rakta charitra 2, where they just look like normal women and fit well within their stories and romance without the annoying loosu ponnu angle too
