Kirishima and y/n have known each other since birth as both of their mothers were friends. They dreamed of the two of them getting along and, in an ideal future, getting married and giving them grandchildren, but it was too early for the last part. They became inseparable and did everything together; They went to the same kindergarten, same high school, and even managed to enter the UA. However, because of y/n "sanation" quirk, she was at another class. But that wasn't an impediment for seeing each other every day. And when she wasn't with Kirishima and his friends, she would be helping on the nursery as part of her training. Her mentor, Recovery girl, always said that she'll take her place when she retired, so y/n needed to work extra hard if she wanted to be able to save heroes' lives during battle.

Kirishima was y/n's number one fan; she was his muse, his rock, and his 'best friend' while for her...he was way more than that. She was in love with her best friend and came with the realisation, at a very young age, that he didn't see her as a potential partner so she kept her mouth shut for all this years, scared of rejection.

However, lately, Kirishima's been more protective than normal; At first, she thought it probably had something to do with the LOV's recent attack, but certain actions made her think otherwise...

The other day, Deku came in with new injuries, and because he was a regular patient, he talked a lot with y/n while she treated his wounds. They became very good friends as she was one of the few who knew of OFA. Kirishima hadn't noticed how close they were till he came in later that day to check on Midoriya and found them siting next to eachother (shoulders touching and being VERY VERY close for his liking) reading and talking about his notes. He was standing at the door annoyed by the scene happening in front of him, and suddenly, a new sensation came with it, one he couldn't put into words, but it felt similar to fear. Of what? He was yet to find out...

He decided enough was enough and entered the room, making his presence known. Izuku might have noticed the intense look Kirishima was giving him cause he tensed and moved a little so his body wasn't touching hers at all; He knew that, even though the redhead was such a great guy, when it came to her, he sure as hell would beat someone up just because that person looked the wrong way (Midoriya has seen it many times). Y/n didn't think much of it as she greeted him with a kiss on the cheek and kept doing some reports that Recovery girl has left for her. After she was done, they left so Izuku could rest, but not before she gave him a quick hug and said their goodbyes. Kirishima was rather quiet all the way to her doorm, and once they arrived, he said 'You are really close with Midoriya, ah?' 'Yes, he's a really nice guy! He comes almost every day so he's my favorite patient by now' His face turned into a frown to that and respond 'Is that so?' He hadn't stopped looking intensibly at her, and it was making the e/c girl nervous. <Why does he sound like he's jealous?> The girl was wondering when suddenly, he grabbed her forearm gently so her body was now facing him. His eyes were no longer on her but the floor, and he whispered 'I don't like you being that friendly with him. I'm supposed to be the one who receives your hugs and the one you tend their wounds of!' He paused for a few seconds and finally looked at her as he continued 'I don't like sharing your attention or you affection. I know it's selfish but lately, when I see you with others, it hurts and it annoys me...I feel kind of left out and I don't like it one bit' Someone would of assumed this 'sensations' Kirishima was having were of pure jealousy or envy because of the threaten of her finding someone else and that this might have been his confession but no. He's convinced himself, and her, that it was his mission as a 'big bro' that he needed to be sure the guy she settled for was a nice one. That night, both of them went to sleep with a huge weight of their hearts. Y/n because she realized that nothing has changed and that she'd always be his friend no matter how cute she dressed or how mature she acted, she'd never be his first option. As for him... He felt his chest tighten at the thought of her being with some other dude.

The next few days, he did everything in his power to not let Midoriya or any other of his friends near y/n, but he couldn't control everyone for too long, could he? It wasn't long enough until UA most handsome guy, had to pay a visit to the nursery and even took the chance to invite her to endeavors agency to work with them. She was very excited to tell him about what happened and that she accepted their offer, but Kirishima had to pretend that he was happy when he actually was feeling sad)?

Since then, mister cute face has spent too much time with her and did everything together; from eating lunch to going on missions alone and then having dinner at his house (Midoriya and Bakugou were there too but still) The redhead was going crazy to say the least. However, he began to wonder if these emotions were similar to the ones a brother would have for his little sister or more like a boyfriend would have for his girl. The word 'jealousy' came along with those thoughts and so he understood why he got so annoyed and anxious whenever she was with someone else or how worried he got by just the idea of her having a boyfriend or even marrying someone; marrying someone who wasn't him. He was in love with her! All this time, he actually thought he was doing the right thing by being protecting her from praying eyes but he was just keeping her to himself instead. He realized how mistaken he had been and needed to make his intentions clear for her even if she rejected him. He just needed to find the right time

Harry and Ginny: three famous love stories before theirs

I still hold the ridiculous hope that one day I'll be able to write a deep full analysis of Harry and Ginny's soulmate dynamic and callbacks to other popular love stories are a part of that analysis. But because you asked so nicely, I want to discuss a bit the two examples you brought up and I'll tell you about another that is one of my favourites.

Orpheus and Eurydice (Greek mythology)

The whole matter of the Chamber of Secrets parallels Orpheus and Eurydice's story, Harry is Orpheus and Ginny is Eurydice.

It is assumed or strongly suspected that Ginny is dead, and Harry goes after her anyway and finds her in a state between life and death. Eurydice dies but Orpheus still pines and searches for his wife, and the existence of the possibility of bringing her back substantially puts her in a position between life and death.

Harry through parseltongue, a particular talent of his, is able to access the Chamber (which is underground). Orpheus through music, a particular talent of his, is able to access the underworld.

Through their journey, both Harry and Orpheus are obliged to leave behind their companions.

Lockhart in the journey loses his memory, a reference to the Lethe in the underworld, the river of forgetfulness.

Art is an important element to remain alive and get out: Fawkes's song (and tears) for Harry, his music for Orpheus.

There's also the element of not looking in order to succeed in saving the girl, Harry can't look into the basilisk's eyes, and Orpheus can't look back at Eurydice.

Tom is an evil version of Hades. Ginny is also both a representation of Eurydice and, in a way, Hades's wife, Persephone.

The obvious difference is that Harry actually saves Ginny.

Peter and MJ, The Amazing Spider-Man (1963 - ongoing)

If we talk about the cinematic versions of Peter and MJ we find a parallel with Harry and Ginny in the break-up scene.

At the end of the first movie of Spider-Man starring Tobey Maguire, Peter refuses MJ, recreating the classic scene of the hero lying to the love of their life about their feelings in order to keep them safe. To protect them they push them away. And the scene happens at a funeral. Now, Harry does break up with Ginny at a funeral for very similar reasons. But the very important contrast is that Harry is extremely honest with Ginny, he doesn't lie about his feelings for her. It's a reference and yet a subversion of the trope (a thing JKR often does with them -> The meaning of Ginny's name).

But let's talk about comicbooks Peter and MJ.

MJ is a character that is talked about in the first issues of The Amazing Spider-Man comics as the "nice girl" who is the niece of the neighbour (a friend of Aunt May). Aunt May keeps trying to set Peter and MJ up but the fact that MJ keeps being described as a "nice girl" makes Peter believe she'll turn out to be ugly, so he avoids meeting her. In issue #25 she appears for the first time but is hidden behind a plant. It's only in issue #42 (November 1966) that we really meet her for the first time. She appears in Peter's doorway making arguably the most iconic entrance in the history of storytelling:

And so it is, that Peter discoveres how MJ is actually a fun, brilliant, extremely good-looking redhead.

Until this point of the story, Ginny has been Ron's shy younger sister. We keep being reminded of her, she is constantly associated with Harry's love life, we know that she is supposed to be in a way that we are not allowed to see, we see her but not clearly, like she is hidden, and then she makes this outstanding appearance. She is confident, speaks directly to Harry and makes a funny clever joke about Harry shouting like a maniac. She grabs all the attention and defeats any negative expectations. OotP is in many ways Ginny's debut.

Personally, I think this is the most interesting parallel, but there are some others that I think are worthy of being mentioned.

MJ is in competition with another love interest, Gwen, but she always ends up being the winner, in the sense that she always comes off as the more charming, brilliant, show-stopping one. The one Peter always ends up having more chemistry with (fan fact: this happened in spite of the original plan of the writers).

In OotP, there's a subplot of constant confrontation between Ginny and Cho, and Ginny always ends up being the winner. Not only in absolute terms of her personality but specifically in terms of her ability to connect with Harry (this on the other hand was very much done on purpose).

A turning point in Peter and MJ's relationship is a harsh conversation where Peter is completely distraught over Gwen's death but MJ refuses to make him indulge in his self-pity:

While the subject at hand is different, it is a scene that holds similarities to the lucky you scene in Harry and Ginny's story. Harry is all rattled about the possibility of being possessed and he is throwing himself a bit of a (understandable) pity party. Ginny is the one that doesn't back down from the challenge of confronting Harry about it, regardless of how horrible that "I forgot" is, and she is there for him. That is a turning point in their relationship because Harry sees Ginny in her entirety for the first time.

'All been talking about me, have you? Well, I'm getting used to it.' 'We wanted to talk to you, Harry,' said Ginny, 'but as you've been hiding ever since we got back — ' 'I didn't want anyone to talk to me,' said Harry, who was feeling more and more nettled. 'Well, that was a bit stupid of you,' said Ginny angrily, 'seeing as you don't know anyone but me who's been possessed by You-Know-Who, and I can tell you how it feels.' Harry remained quite still as the impact of these words hit him. Then he wheeled round. 'I forgot,' he said. 'Lucky you,' said Ginny coolly. 'I'm sorry,' Harry said, and he meant it. 'So... so, do you think I'm being possessed, then?' 'Well, can you remember everything you've been doing?' Ginny asked. 'Are there big blank periods where you don't know what you've been up to?' -Chapter 23, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, JK Rowling

Another thing that MJ and Ginny have in common is a very clear identity and storyline that makes them independent from their love interests despite said love interests being the main characters. They also both acquire fame due to their jobs despite coming from a poor family and they both have traumatic pasts (even if for different reasons). They are also both the youngest in their family.

Peter and Harry are both obviously the main characters with special abilities and they are both orphans who lose a surrogate parental figure. Peter though, gets a much better childhood than Harry.

Laurie and Amy, Little Women (1868-69)

What if I told you that Harry and Ginny have a lot in common with a couple of characters from the work of Louisa May Alcott settled in the Massachusetts of the 19th century?

Laurie is a rich lonely orphan that meets a poor loving family with many children (the Marches). He gets really close to them, and he grows up with them. He is specifically best friends with one of those kids (Jo) with which he has a very tumultuous kind of dynamic and he ends up developing romantic feelings for her. Amy is the youngest of the March family and always seems to hold a soft spot for Laurie. Laurie even saves Amy's life at a certain point, partially helped by Jo. Despite a few years of age difference, Laurie and Amy always get along really well, and they even flirt frequently once they are a bit older. But between his feelings for Jo and his age difference with Amy, for years it's not possible for Laurie to develop proper romantic feelings for the youngest March.

The parallels with Harry and Ginny seem quite obvious. Harry is a rich orphan who befriends a poor loving family with many kids that treat him like one of their own. He is specifically best friends with one of the kids, Ron. Ginny is the youngest of the Weasley family and has feelings for Harry from the start. At one point in the story, Harry saves Ginny and for part of that rescue, he has Ron by his side. Once he grows up a bit, Harry develops feelings for a girl (Cho) with which he has a very short tumultuous relationship. It needs to be clarified though, that while Laurie's feelings for Jo are quite intense, Harry simply has a hallway crush on Cho. Regardless, there's a Jo in Harry's story and she is represented by a fusion of Ron and Cho. And, as it is for Laurie, it takes years for Harry to acquire full proper romantic feelings for Ginny, despite the fact that there was always a certain tenderness between them. What keeps Harry from developing proper romantic feelings for Ginny in this case is not really the age difference but the general lack of time spent together, due to Ginny's paralyzing romantic feelings mixed with Harry's complex life (even if not being in the same year at school doesn't help). Cho also serves as a distraction for a while.

But let's go back to Little Women and talk about when everything changed between Laurie and Amy. Laurie's marriage proposal to Jo gets rejected, which leads him into a spiral of despair and very debatable coping mechanisms that he puts into action all around Europe. But in his travels in Europe, he meets again Amy, now a grown woman, mature, beautiful and commanding, and with a man ready to propose to her. Laurie and Amy spend a lot of time together, they have fun, and they share common values and interests, but more importantly, Amy is the one able to shake Laurie out of his spiral of despair and self-pity. Laurie inevitably develops romantic feelings for Amy, but wonders about his moral integrity because Amy made it so easy for him to forget the hurt Jo caused him. Ultimately, Laurie puts his life together and realises that he was destined for Amy, that he would have eventually fallen for her anyway, that they are inevitable. Laurie and Amy marry and he officially becomes part of the March family.

Again, the parallels with Harry and Ginny are evident. It is when Harry is full of rage and sadness that he meets the real Ginny, a Ginny who has matured, has a boyfriend, is fun, shares interests and values with Harry, and seems the only one really able to shake him out of his misery. She affirms herself as a source of comfort and optimism in Harry's life and the more time they spend together the more Harry's feelings grow. Throughout the entirety of the proper explicit development of Harry's romantic feelings, Ginny is taken, let it be OotP or HBP, which doesn't help matters. And when Harry finally realises his feelings, like Laurie, he is faced with a moral dilemma: Ginny is Ron's younger sister. And while Ron is simply Harry's best friend, it is nonetheless a dilemma of loyalty, like it was for Laurie. Harry, in spite of his best efforts, eventually accepts that he can't escape Ginny or his feelings for her. He has no doubts about him and Ginny, he is confident about them as a couple, and he knows that it is what was always meant to happen:

'I just wish I’d asked you sooner. We could’ve had ages… months… years maybe…’ 'But you’ve been too busy saving the wizarding world,’ said Ginny, half-laughing. -Chapter 30, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, JK Rowling

Harry and Ginny eventually get married and Harry officially becomes part of the Weasley family.

She has no problem to fall for a "second son" meaning "not the first born/male heir" (Waymar and Loras are third sons),

Courtly Love, most of them impossible, or intended to remain unconsummanted, or to end tragically and others to be unrequited (Waymar and Loras belong to celibate orders, Loras was gay, Sansa was betrothed with other boys/men).

Dark haired guy with Redhead girl is a romantic trope, more in particular "Heroes want Redheads." George loves Lord Byron and Byronic heroes (like Jon) are usually dark/dark haired, also George loves the Pre-Raphaelite movement, and Pre-Raphaelite muses are redheads. George loves redheads, he married two of them.

The Witch Queen - Big Bad of the series. Actually makes her first appearance in Book 6/very end of Book 5. Corrupted by dark magic, roughly a thousand years old. Barely even human anymore, the dark magic has taken over. Very loosely based on Agatha Harkness.

King Undral - Big Bad of the series. Shows up for the first time in Book 7. God of the Under, King of the Dead. Hates his job and thinks mortals are worthless and stupid. Cold Businessman and will torture anyone who angers or undermines him.

Extra Stuff

A little bit on the different regions in Eltya that we see in the books

Dinvirty: Tris and Kaye's kingdom. Nestled in one of the biggest mountain ranges of Eltya, almost always in a deep blanket of snow with freezing temperatures year round. They are they protectors of Keyon's Gate, the one thing keeping the Witch Queen imprisoned. Based on the Vikings and the Roman Empire.

Goke: Snow and Lan's kingdom. Not far from Dinvirty on the other side of the mountains, with a slightly more temperate climate. Mainly deep woods with some lakes and small rivers. A little bit less colder than Dinvirty, but still gets frequent snow and rain with very cool temperatures year round. Based on the Medieval Gothic Era.

The High Seas: Cass and Erica's region. A lawless land in the waters surrounding Eltya, including the lush but deadly tropical islands surrounding the main continent. Very hot with wild and rough seas, filled with very large and dangerous sea monsters. Based on the Golden Age of Piracy.

Dryklan: Max and Monty's kingdom. Settled in the second biggest mountain range of Eltya, the mountain mines filled with the purest ore and finest metals. Other than mountains there is the forests, one of which spreads into Greyvenhill. Temperate region on the warmer side, with lots of rain. Based on late 1700s/early 1800s French Aristocracy.

Farkle: Elliot and Hestia's kingdom. The fallen and long lost kingdom, overgrown with deep and cold pine forest and dangerous magical creatures, with villages on the outskirts. Temperate region but on the colder side, with frequent snow and wet weather. Based on Mid 1800s English countryside/The Last Russian Dynasties.

Greyvenhill: Sapphire and Raven's kingdom. Mostly in the middle of the continent and relatively flat with grasslands throughout and swamps towards the coast. Trading hub of the continent, with the most river and coastline out of the other kingdoms. Very hot with just enough rain to keep grass and trees alive, more humid towards the coast. Based on Authruian/Robin Hood Medieval era with a touch of Scottish/Celtic in there.

The Under: The Afterlife and Underworld. Desolate and devoid of life, everything down there is hellbent on making you suffer. Mortal souls rot away there until who they were in life is gone and they become demons themselves that serve the Dark King. Unbearably hot and dry. Based on Goblin Valley in Utah and the underground caves in New Mexico.

The Sands of Doom: The Witch Queen's imprisonment for roughly a thousand years. Completely devoid of life, with nothing but sand and tall thick cliffs on both sides. The only exit is a small gap in the mountains, closed off by the high wall called Keyon's Gate, guarded by the fiercest warriors in Dinvirty.

Other things:

Triveya has a pet dragon! His name is Torch, he's dark red, and he's basically a puppy with claws and teeth that breathes fire

Triveya also lives in a giant tree library complete with a fireplace and living space up top with a glass roof. She hundreds of books, mostly on magic

Hestia has servants that she made out of fire in her castle, because she got lonely and couldn't do the upkeep of the castle on her own. There's Embers, the genderfluid butler with their tiny lizard companion Coals, also made of fire. Then theres Flicker and Ashes, the cook and the maid.

Raven has a big family back in his home town. He has two big brothers both of which are in the army with him, and three little sisters (triplets). His parents own the tavern and inn of the small town, and his mom is the best cook for miles. Yes Raven is a total Momma's boy, that's why we love him.

Ok, since Tumblr doesn't seem to want to let me respond to this post

I'll start a new top-level post to explain myself. YOU CANNOT SILENCE ME! (ahem. it looks like something got corrupted is all.)

The original post was a complaint about the cinematic trope of the good guy being indicated by blonde hair. By extension, we tend to see the good guy dressed and lit more brightly unless someone deliberately goes out of the way to subvert that trope. There are a number of reasons this is bad, not the least of which is that perpetuating the "dark=bad / light=good" meme does people with darker skin no favors.

I added a further complaint about the villain often being cast as a redhead. I was brief in my gripe, and got asked about redheads who happen to do bad things in more nuanced situations.

And to that I say bring it on! I love morally ambiguous characters making questionable decisions because they needed someone to remind them about Uncle Ben! What I'm not thrilled about is these guys:

These are just the first three I thought of, but I'm far from the first to notice the trend.

I really just wanted to clarify that I don't think redheads shouldn't be flawed characters, only that this trope of making them irredeemably bad should be added to the same pile of kindling as "light=good / dark=bad".

Give me a nuanced character with clear, understandable motivations who sometimes (or even frequently!) makes bad decisions but is basically just trying their best. Then I won't care what color their hair is.

Yep!

How to Marry a Marquess by Stacy Reid. The heroine is actually trying to attract the attention of the hero, to be fair, but she tells him she's looking for someone else with the idea that if it doesn't work, she can get someone else's attention. He doesn't want to make a move (they're longtime friends) because he's a scandal due to his recognition and raising of his illegitimate child, and he thinks the heroine won't be able to handle being an outcast with him.

Beauty Tempts the Beast by Lorraine Heath. The heroine's a fine lady whose family is in disgrace, and she figures the only way she can get cash is by becoming a courtesan. She offers the hero a trade: if she teaches the women in this brothel he accidentally owns how to be ladies (so that he doesn't have to own the brothel anymore lmao, he's very dear) he'll teach her how to be a seductress.

In Want of a Viscount by Lorraine Heath. This isn't like, exactly what this trope is, but it's pretty close. The heroine is an American businesswoman who's not interested in marriage, but her mom really wants her to marriage into a title. The hero ends up teaching her how to Do Things, in part because she figures she won't get that kind of thing with anyone else.

When the Duke Was Wicked by Lorraine Heath. Again a variation, but pretty close, and this is one of my "if y'all wanna see how a real man would do the P*lin s3 plot" books. I mean, the heroine is even a redhead... Anyway, she and the hero have been family friends for forever, he's a doooooggggg, and she's definitely in love with him but knows he's a dog. She has a massive dowry, so lots of men are after her, but she doesn't know how to recognize a truly good dude. So he agrees to help her, which leads to him teaching her things a "man who truly loves you" would do. Most of those things are dirty!

Variations where the heroine teaches the hero:

Hotel of Secrets by Diana Biller. The heroine is experienced and the hero is a virgin, and she ends up giving him... lessons.

The Mistress Experience by Scarlett Peckham. This one isn't out until 6/25, but put it on your TBR because it's AMAZING. The hero isn't a virgin, but he is very inexperienced, and he hires the courtesan heroine to stay with him for a month and teach him how to please a woman so that his future wife has a good time.

A Holly Jolly Ever After by Sierra Simone and Julie Murphy. The heroine is fresh off a divorce from a husband who never... got her there, and she's super bummed out. She's going to be in this racy Christmas movie (go with it) with the hero, who's become infamous for this tape that leaked which suggests that he certainly doesn't have the issue her husband had. He ends up teaching her how to be comfortable with her sexuality so that she can have a healthy relationship.... obviously with someone else.... SO HOT.

A/N: Warning, this will contain some potential spoilers for a future fanfic I will try to post in the future. Please read at your own risk and enjoy. Profile picture is done by @akluthor1998.

A young girl from Earth who had received a “Cuphead: Don’t Deal with the Devil” book from her grandmother, Raina finds herself literally pulled into it and wind up on the Inkwell Isles. There, she meets the Cup Brothers and helps them collect the soul contracts all the while trying to keep well away from the Devil, who wants to steal her grandmother’s necklace. Throughout her adventure, Raina will soon find out about the origin of the necklace and Bestemor’s previous connections with all of Calix Animi and the Devil himself.

The Ace:

She is a very skilled swimmer and five times winner of her swimming competitions. Her excellent swimming skills do come in handy on certain occasions such as pulling a Big Darn Hero moment of saving the Cup Brothers from drowning from time to time.

She’s also good at tennis, which does come in handy when she needs to deflect any attacks or at least fend off against imps when her yo-yo’s not enough.

She also does ice skating in her spare time and is very good at it.

Action Girl:

Once she started adapting to the magic of her necklace, she slowly becomes this, most especially when she helps the Cups face up against the Devil in A Turn of the Page.

She fully plays this straight in the sequel and in the TCS universe following after.

Animal Motifs:

Raina is strongly associated with dolphins. The dolphin is said to represent peace and harmony. Dolphins are also joyful, graceful, compassionate, intelligent, generous and protective. Rather fitting with it being one of her favourite aquatic animals. And the dolphin is also said to symbolise cooperation and freedom.

Cats are a bit for her. She has cat little cat ears on her hood and she has a Siamese kitten she dotes on.

Bag of Holding: Since her visits on the Inkwell Isles, her backpack surprisingly developed some cartoon logic as she could practically fit about anything in there more she normally could back on Earth. It also serves as a convenience for the Cup Brothers when she suggested carrying the collected soul contracts inside it in A Turn of the Page.

Batter Up: She occasionally uses her tennis racket as a last resort to defend herself and will use it like a shield to deflect any attacks like she would bat at a tennis ball.

Big Fancy House: Both her parents own and run a Spanish-Norwegian restaurant, they earned enough money to afford a very nice house that could practically pass up as a mansion with a nice scenery of the ocean at the back.

Blonde, Brunette, Redhead: Raina has brown hair, making her the brunette with Zoe as the blonde and Jayden is the Fiery Redhead.

Blue is Heroic: She wears a bit of blue and she’s the Kid Hero of her many adventures.

Book Smart: Downplayed. She gets some decent grades on her school tests and she enjoys reading.

Break the Cutie: She has a couple of close calls of the Devil trying to cut her down.

Braids of Action: She has a strand of hair done up in a braid over her shoulder and she’s an adorable Kid Hero armed with a magic necklace.

Brainy Brunette: Downplayed. While she’s nowhere near the level of Matilda Wormwood, Raina is still a very bright kid, who is very cunning when it comes to thwarting the TCS Devil’s schemes, has some knowledge in both sides of her family’s culture and is very fluent in Spanish and Norwegian.

Bully Hunter:

But Not Too Foreign: Her mother is Norwegian while her father is Hispanic.

Changed My Jumper: Downplayed. She is a little girl from modern day Earth in the late 2020’s stuck in the Cuphead world which takes place in the 30s. While it’s true that TCS Sally Stageplay wears trousers, some of the characters never often see a child wearing clothes like denim jeans and hoodies which would not be seen or worn until later on in the much more modern years.

Cheerful Child:

Childhood Friends: With Jayden and Zoe. Raina had been very close with Zoe since kindergarten and Jayden joined their friendship circle after she defended them from bullies in the second grade.

Children Are Innocent:

Class Princess: Raina is beloved by everyone in her class for her willingness to help others and to stand up to any bullies.

Compressed Hair: During her swimming training and competitions, she always keeps her hair tucked away beneath a swim cap. But when she takes it off, her hair cascades down.

Comically Serious: She is a young girl from the Real World, acting mature for her age, stuck in a wacky world of cartoon characters with the classic Pie-Eyed and rubber hose animation style. So, she does tend to be more serious all the while still partake in the crazy antics of friends and enemies alike.

Cosmic Motifs: Moons and stars given the design of her necklace. She also has a crescent moon and a couple of stars on one side of her long legged pyjama pants.

Costume Evolution: Back in A Turn of the Page, she wore an icy blue shirt beneath a purple hoodie and dark blue jeans. Over onto the sequel and the adaption of The Cuphead Show, she would trade them in for a purple T-shirt and a denim hoodie jacket.

Cute Bookworm: She enjoys reading a lot of books that catches her interests. She most especially fantasy adventure stories. And she is most adorable when she has her nose deep in a book.

Daddy’s Girl: Downplayed. Raina has an equally close relationship with her parents but she has a slightly more close one with her papá if his Affectionate Nickname for her is of any indication.

Damsel In Distress: Pretty much played straight halfway through in A Turn of the Page. In defence, she pretty much didn’t know about magic her grandmother’s necklace contains during her first encounter with the Devil at the casino. And she was still adjusting to using its powers whenever Dice or some imps try to snatch her before fully Took a Level in Hardcore.

Damsel Out of Distress:

Deadpanned Snarker: Nowhere near Jayden’s level but she still has her moments.

Does Not Like Spam:

It’s a little known fact that Raina hates mushrooms. The authoress must have a recurring gag about most of her characters, most especially her persona/avatar, hating them.

She doesn’t like zucchini.

At one point, Raina mentioned she never liked pineapple due to being shocked to learn it’s used as a pizza topping.

She would never eat livers or kidneys since she finds the latter and the former gross.

She doesn’t eat duck or lamb.

Elemental Motifs: Water, being the element of change, is fitting for someone who had gone from an emotionally uncertain little girl to the Hardcore Adorable and adventurous heroine in the events of A Turn of the Page. Water is also fitting for Raina since she’s an excellent swimmer and her star sign is the Pisces which represents the water element.

Out of all the villains on the Inkwell Isles, Raina deeply despises King Dice for being a sleazy Smug Snake while he antagonises her and the Cups.

It’s safe to say that she has an extremely sore spot for TCS Ludwig for being snooty and trying to exploit her musical talents while attempting to steal all the credit for the song Cuphead wrote.

Raina was specially inspired by Alice from Alice in Wonderland.

Her characterisation also takes some inspiration from Dorothy Gale from The Wizard of Oz.

She also shares some Bully Hunter and Cute Bookworm traits from Matilda Wormwood.

Free-Range Children: At the age of eleven, she’s independent to walk from home to the local swimming pool centre and back again.

Friend to All Living Things: If her affections for her Siamese kitten and fondness for dolphins are of any indications.

Friendship Trinket:

She always wears a bracelet made by her best friends.

At the end of A Turn of the Page, the Cup Brothers give her a new hair scrunchie with a bejewelled seashell charm after she lost her old one during the final showdown with the Devil.

Girls Love Chocolate: Comes with the territory of being a kid with a Sweet Tooth.

Girls Love Stuffed Animals: She has a variety of plush toys ranging from dolphins, turtles, seals, sea lions, and some of her favourite Pokémon like Primarina and Popplio. She even keeps a teddy bear dressed in a pyjama onesie with dolphins on it on her bed, which she had since she was two.

Graceful Ladies Like Purple: She as graceful as a Tomboy with a Girly Girl Streak can get and she wears some purple. She occasionally plays this straight in a dress on special occasions.

Gratuitous Spanish: She is very fluent in Spanish from her father’s side and it’s one of her main traits that she would occasionally speak Spanish in most of her sentences. She also occasionally refers to her friends as her almigos/almigas.

Hardcore Adorable: Jerks and villains in the cartoon world better beware! She’s a cute kid armed with a magic necklace and she’s not afraid to use it!

Hidden Depths:

Identical Granddaughter: Aside from the reveal of half of her last name is Náttúra, the Devil was able to pinpoint her as Yelana’s granddaughter by recognising her by eye colour as well as the strong family resemblance. It is said that Raina looks like a brunette and dark-skinned version of her Bestemor in her youth.

An Ice Person: The magic of her necklace enables her conjure ice magic like Elsa from Frozen.

Innocent Blue Eyes:

Innocently Insensitive: As kind and well-meaning as she is, Raina is still a child who doesn’t know better and sometimes is still capable of making honest mistakes.

It Was a Gift:

Her magic necklace was gifted to her by her Bestemor.

Her bracelet with the beads were specially made by her B.F.F’s for her 10th birthday.

The seashell hair scrunchie was made by the Cup Brothers from the book.

Kid Hero: She’s only 10-11 years of age and is the main protagonist next to the Cups.

Killer Yo-Yo: One of her necklace’s magical abilities is to weaponise her toy yo-yo. That also includes the string extending to be as long as she can will it to be and Spin to Deflect Stuff.

Kindhearted Cat Lover: Aside from dogs, Raina adores cats and she currently has a Siamese kitten she named Coco.

Little Girls Kick Shins: With or without a magic necklace, Raina isn’t too shy to kick a villain in the knees such as King Dice.

Long Hair is Feminine: Downplayed. She has long mid back-length hair and is a Tomboy With a Girly Girl Streak.

Making a Splash: Her necklace’s magic enables her to conjure water magic or manipulate any water close by just like out of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Morality Pet:

She serves as this to TCS Cuphead, serving as positive influence on him, steering him away from his most naughty in some of the canons such as undoing his insufferable behaviour in the near-climax and end of Lost in the Woods.

Raina had also reasoned with Mugman into not letting his jealousy of Cuphead’s Hidden Depths get the better of him and do things he’ll end up regretting.

She also provides a moral compass for TCS Ms. Chalice.

Nice Girl: She’s very polite, friendly and a fun person to be around.

Oblivious to Love: Both versions of Mugman have a crush on her and she doesn’t seem to notice.

One of the Boys: Since her adventures on the Inkwell Isles from both the book and cartoon show, Raina gets along with the Cup Brothers swimmingly and they really value her company and friendship to heart.

Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Being in possession of her grandmother’s magical necklace helps with that.

Plucky Girl: According to the Devil in the book, she takes up more after her Bestemor.

Purple is Powerful: She wears a bit of purple, half of her necklace is purple and she is a very powerful magic user.

She Cleans Up Nicely: She’s still a cute girl through and through but she does show off her feminine side in a dress.

Sizeshifter: One of her necklace’s magical powers is giving her the ability to shrink herself as well as her allies down to the size of a mouse such as when the Cups have to battle Werner for his soul contract.

Supreme Chef: At some point in between the end of “A Turn of the Page” and the sequel, Raina learned how to cook mildly more advanced meals as she managed to make a perfectly good meatloaf specially for her lunch to take to school. She most definitely takes after her parents.

Sweet Tooth: She enjoys candies and other sweet treats as the next kid.

Toast of Tardiness: Subverted. She had never been late for school, but she did once had to be rush out of the cottage with a churro in her mouth when the Cups told her they were meeting Chalice a lot sooner than planned.

Tomboyish Ponytail: Downplayed. While she has her down, she has most of done up in a half-ponytail and she is still a tomboy with a feminine side.

Tomboy and Girly Girl:

While she does still has a feminine streak to her, Raina still serves as the Tomboy to Zoe’s Girly Girl.

She plays this straight with her purely as the Tomboy while Ms. Chalice’s the Girly Girl.

Trademark Favourite Food: She really enjoys churros, especially dipped in chocolate.

True Blue Femininity: When She Cleans Up Nicely, she looks extremely pretty and feminine in blue.

Even if the servant kept up well to hold a good reputation among the other RSA students, Louis had those days where quickly everything bothered him... on that day it didn't help that he had to endure Kimon being visited by Andrew and tried hard not to spill tea over him... Then this full of himself hero had to sho him out of the way cause he didn't want his dumb attractions to get out... His temper was already on edge... and whats worse he had to run into Atticus at that point for some related task where Carol recommended him to ask Gaius for advice cause she couldn't come over.

After Gaius helped him with the task atticus stopped him from walking out the dorm.

"So how did that scuffle with the red haired noble go?"

"I don't wanna think about him neither nor talk about him."

"Stop being so childish really. I did my best to defend you from not getting a scuffle with a noble house and that was how you thank me."

It was true... his aggresion got him in trouble and he appreciated Atticus helping him out of this mess... worse despite their bickering he knew some feelings lurked inside his heart... yet he decided to ignore them for one sake... he swore himself to not get distracted by his duties to take care of Kimon... yet he could be oh so easily swayed as well.

"Just cause you have a feud with him don't let your foul mood out on me."

"Thats not it... "

"Then what is it, be clear about why excactly you have such an aggresive tone to me."

He glared Louis right in the face, suddenly something inside him made him snap... he pressed his shoulders to the wall and pinned him against it with his arms... leaving Atticus confused and a little red from him being that close.

"You idiot its cause I don't wanna admit it."

"Admit what?"

Now he done it... he had to say it but there was no backing out now..

"I been sorta crushing on you since seeing you in court like that."

"What?!"

Seeing his bright red faced somewhat relieved Louis and made him be more bolder, he leaned a bit closer holding his hand on his face and nodded.

"I didn't want to admit it cause... after all with my job I don't even know if I can handle a partner too. But it happened."

"Tch... fine then I admit to it as well."

"You admit?!"

"There is a reason I took more time then on some other cases with yours... cause I wanted you to suceed over that, aside seeing that redhead eat his words. I guess I like you as well in a way... even if you piss me off as well."

"I can only give that back."

Suddenly both kinda realized how close they were to another... Louis couldn't really pass up the opportunity, especially with the tension surrounding them... and so he grabbed his wrist and placed a kiss on him... catching him even more off guard...

"Well, then I guess I will see you later."

He quickly made his escape, after all he was busy enough but he also didn't want to face the awkwardness of the situation... at least he got out what he wanted to say.

Somewhat Keres was kinda stumped visiting Aiden, because they were greated with quite the chaotic sight. The Kitchen was full of displayed horror themed dishes, some with movies they even recognized well and called among their favs... everything was much more spooky themed and the oddest was seeing him turn around from cutting something ,face splattered in a bit of red sauce before he washed it off his face.

"I didn't expect you stop by this early..."

"You asked me to come so I did, but was today a theme day or why does everything look like this. I didn't expect there is so many ways to imitated the movies."

He sighed a little dissapointed.

"No I made them myself..."

"ALL OF THESE?"

He gave a small nod... in actuality he wanted to surprise them with it in a way to show a bit of why he likes them and maybe get a chance to show them but it being misinterpreted already made him tired enough. Seeing them nerd out about each dish however returned that smile and made it worth it.

"Pick any of them, the rest I can still give to my dorm members."

"Then I will keep this one.... but say why do so much work when it wasn't for an event."

"It was cause its for you..."

"Huh!? You don't need to go through that much to cheer me up or something. Or pity me."

"Thats not it."

They still didn't get it... yet he was so bad at getting his feelings across...

"Come to the Balcony with me, then I can tell you."

With a bit of hesitation they nodded and followed along. Just for him to take a deep sigh and turned to them.

"I have feelings for you."

"A-as a friend right?"

"No as someone who is in love."

".....is this a prank or something..."

Slowly he got frustrated and to have to get it across he seemed like he had to prove it. So he grabbed their wrist and placed a small kiss on them.

"Does that get across what I mean?"

No response... however their face turned as red as a tomato and they lost a bit of balance as he catched them a little.

"I s-see... I just... didn't expect you to."

"I know. But it is true."

"Why me then? There is so much better options."

"You really are an idiot are you... who else spend so much time with me and didn't run away from me."

They really had to process all this, but Aiden was fine with that, he settled to hold their hand explaining himself and hoping to at least finally get through to them... this would take a while for him to explain.

"So here is the deal, you can turn invisible, right?"

"Yup yup, so you are gonna flock those marbles around and I will always take it out and put it somewhere else so the person loses right?"

The both were again up to no good, Verde making one of his games on the street while Ame helped him manipulate things in his favour... this plan worked at least untill eventually someone had the right UM to figure them both out... and so they both went on the run, Ame forgetting in between that Verde can't float trough objects like her...

And so at least she went back and floated him up the building to escape so they can hide away... floating over his shoulder as he counted the money.

"That was totally worth it, look at how much we got."

"Well done master!"

"You still have to call me that?"

"I dunno, its fun to me, especially cause I promised you, I will be bound to you like a contract."

"Hope fully one that doesn't cost me anything."

She chuckled and leaned forward.

"I will take smooches as payment."

"Fine you will get one."

At least for now they both had time to get a bit cuddly at least untill the air was clear and they would find a good way back to their schools... Ame couldn't help to tease Verde into some danger onto their way back but at least... they were both laughing a lot.

Who would you rather reform and why?

Two adorable attractive redhead animal females who aren't liked enough by the execs and writers to reuse again as a hero but are liked by a number of fans, and not only that but have yet to be TRULY redeemed.

I wanted to believe Blue Sky would later bring back Scratte and have her icy heart truly defrosted and making her a member of the herd, but that never happened. Instead, just more characters and no reformed saber-toothed squirrels, and hardly any fanfiction writer even tries to make it so.

Now, it's too late for Scratte to be reformed, considering Blue Sky is no more. But it's not too late for Suki. She has yet to truly redeem herself. Sure, she got Crystal arrested and helped the Moon Troupe get booked for the Majestic, but her heel-face turn raises several questions and seemed to come out of nowhere and not treated like a big deal.

Honestly, while making her the overarching antagonist would make sense and pull Illumination out of the gutter of "just okay films", I think she has too much potential to become an amazing character though that's trumped by the negative tropes and the pressures to make the third film different than the first two. After all, we have to include surprises to keep audiences on their toes, right?

We honestly don't know if Suki will be worse or not, but it is not NOT a possibility, as Illumination doesn't even want to treat her like a character you'd want to be friends with.

No, I'd rather have her have her own movie where there's more given to her character, including more flaws, making her more likable and relatable than she was in 2 instead of going for the whole "pretty woman is actually bad" trope.

Though, the point of this meme, if you were to choose between ultimately reforming Scratte and Suki, which would you pick?

I'd personally pick both, but the ones in charge of canon are ultimately done with Scratte and it doesn't feel believable her belonging with the herd.

PERSONALITY.

Despite growing up in a noble family and one of the patriar families of Baldur's Gate, Synnove has never known what power and privilege truly is. Ever since her mother's death when she was little, Synnove was treated coldly and belittled by her abusive and neglectful father who treated her as a burden and mistake instead of as a daughter or his heir. Because of it, Synnove grew up with bad people pleasing traits and perfectionist traits, trying to do whatever she could to get her father's attention or some affection from him. At first, it was the reason she decided to become a Bard, wanting to learn all she can in every skill, but Synnove quickly realized nothing she ever did would matter to him.

Now with a desire to break free from her chains and find her place in the world, Synnove leaves home and everything she knew behind. And despite finding herself now stuck with a tadpole also threatening to take her agency away, she will do what she can to break free and save the world. 

She likes those who are kind, help others in need (even animals) and look to solve problems in a diplomatic and subtle way, but also appreciates snarkiness, rebellious and mischievous attitude and supporting autonomy. She dislikes those who are downright cruel, try to control others, or belittle them. 

She hides a dark and troubled past behind a smile and her caring nature. Synnove uses songs and her sarcasm as coping mechanisms for when she is stressed out. 

BIOGRAPHY.

Born and raised in the upper city of Baldur’s Gate, she is part of the noble elven family – House of Willowlight. She is the product of an unhappy arranged marriage between her parents.

Her father, Thalien, works as a magistrate. Despite being a Sun Elf, he tends to be cold, strict and harsh with his daughter. Thalien is living up to the reputation of Sun Elves being known as haughty and reclusive and believing themselves to be superior to non-elves and even other elves. Synnove gets her looks from him with her red hair and golden eyes.

Her mother, Faelyn, is a powerful sorceress and a Moon Elf. When Synnove was a young elfling, Faelyn—unhappy with her marriage— ended up sneaking away in the middle of the night, leaving her family behind. She doesn’t make it far outside the walls of Baldur’s Gate, instead ending up found murdered. However, Synnove doesn’t know the truth— that her mother became one of Cazador’s spawn, one of his seven thousand souls for the Rite of Profane Ascension, locked away in a cage for centuries with others. Synnove gets her personality and sense for adventure from her mother, at least that’s what her father tells her. She is only left with memories of her mother telling her stories of legends and calling her “My Sun Gift.”

In the years being raised by her father and grieving the loss of her mother, she does everything she can to get affection or praise from her abusive and neglectful father— something to show she has worth besides just being his heir he wants to marry off and get rid of. So Synnove takes up the deed of learning all she can and becoming a “Jack of All Trades”, whether it be trying her hand at magic, writing, music, or learning how to fight and heal. Along the way, she finds her desire to become a Bard. However, nothing she seems to do will ever please her father or make him regard her with care. After her father has declared he has found some Noble lord for his daughter to marry, Synnove decides to try to follow where her mother didn’t succeed and trying to find her greater purpose in life outside the walls of Baldur’s Gate, running away the day of her arranged marriage and breaking free from the chains of her old life.

Synnove manages to make it outside the wall, visiting taverns and inns and singing her songs in return for room and board, but along the way she ends up getting kidnapped by Mind Flayers and infected with one of their tadpoles. A stroke of fortune lets her escape her captors, but the tadpole in her head will still turn her into a mind flayer… unless she can find a way to remove it. And this is where Synnove’s story of adventure begins, running into other companions also infected with tadpoles, creating a story in the making that will be told in Faerûn for years to come.

The Sun's Gift --- When returning back to the city of Baldur's Gate in Act 3 with her traveling companions, Synnove discovers the truth about her family, but most especially, about herself in particular. It involves the legend of a ring known by many names--- Sunwalker's Gift, Ring of the Sun-Walker, the Sunlight Ring, and most notably, The Sun's Gift--- that imbues it's wearer with the ability to walk in the sun and not be harmed by fire or sunlight and to manipulate it. It's something that vampire's in particular have been wanting to obtain for themselves. Long ago, it was created by a group of nomadic sun elves.

However, Synnove discovers through her father the truth about the legends of the Sun Gift and her family bloodline. The Sun Gift isn't a piece of jewellery. That is just one of the false stories told to protect it's true origins. 

The Sun Gift is a person and the ability that flows with the blood in their veins. And besides her father, Synnove is the last living member with this ability in her bloodline.

Lumine nods along. She was exhausted, having just wrapped up a fight with the Fatui playing their games outside of diplomatic jurisdiction. If it weren't for a certain darknight hero appearing to offer his coat and home for the night, she was sure she'd be snoozing away on the open fields by now.

But sleep was the last thing on her companion's mind. "Recount to me today's events with the Fatui, I have an inkling of what they're planning." was what he said before placing his coat on her shoulders. Truly, she felt more of a business partner than an acquaintance, not that she's complaining if it helps her to find her brother faster.

Thinking back now, she's grateful for his generosity anyway: The winery was beautiful and large with traditional Mondstadt furnishing, a testament to the centuries of heritage it holds. Eyes skimming the perimeter, Lumine notices a peek of H/C hair from behind the redhead, a figure trying hard to blend with the shadows of the manor. She recognizes you as the madame of the winery, having heard a rumor or two about the famed wife who never quite had the strength to leave the adobe.

Hiding away in a corner, you glanced anxiously at her.

'Y/n should be asleep by now, eh?' Lumine giggles quietly to herself, inconspicuously offering you a soft smile. Dealing with an overly worried husband was definitely something she could relate to when it comes to her brother, Aether. As much as she understood his concerns, it wouldn't hurt to sneak around every once in a while! With that in mind, she resolves to help you just this once.

Lumine wraps her hand around Diluc's wrist, leading him away from you. "Now where was the guest room again? Let's talk and get this over with. I'm exhausted!"

She hopes she gave you enough time to escape.

"Welcome back." Your voice cuts through the dark main hall. Diluc almost drops the coat he took off.

"Y/N? Why are you still up- your fever-" He quickly puts a hand over your forehead, tsking when he could barely differentiate your temperature from the warm disposition of his palm. He slips his hand lower and you wonder if he wanted to cradle your cheek, instead, it rested on your upper arm. "You're still sick."

Dulled hair and pale skin, you blended with the gloom of the manor. The memory of your wedding night – how you looked, how you suffered – flashes in his mind before it's gone by the next blink. His worry soared all over again, adding to the anxiety caused by Kaeya's words in the tavern a few hours prior.

"Why are you up?" He clenches his jaw, hands gripping onto your upper arms. Don't you know how dangerous this is?

"I was waiting for y-"

"I told you you didn't have to do that!" He drops his hands from your sides, voice raised more than he means to.

You stayed quiet for a while, oddly calm before questioning. "Were you with miss Lumine again?"

Diluc's brows furrowed, taking a step back to exhale, an attempt to hold back his growing frustration. It wasn't that he's frustrated at you, no – well, perhaps. He just wanted you resting in bed dammit! You didn't need this wifely duty of waiting for him to come back simply because of your obligations to a contract.

You didn't need to know about his business with the Abyss and Lumine.

"No, I was closing up the tavern."

"But she was here last night, right?" You inquire, hands pulling the shawl over your shoulders closer. He eyes this intently.

"Yes? What about it?" He didn't mean to sound harsh, he really didn't. Diluc was never one for words and with his mind elsewhere (on sickbeds and abyss mages, on Kaeya's words and if you're warm enough) .

You bit your lip, huffing out. "I understand that... you can meet others and that this is your manor but-..." You pause, looking for the right words to say. "For the sake of reputation, wouldn't it be better in the tavern? You have apartments in the city, the one above Angel's Share, in particular, is beautifully designed, you-"

"What?" Diluc interrupts, there's a settling feeling of anxiety in his stomach, "Meet others? My manor? Reputation?" He repeated, boots loudly making their way back to you as you step back by reflex.

"You... think I'm having an affair?" Diluc faltered in disbelief, "An affair."

You look away from the towering redhead, suddenly interested in the hardwood flooring. Nervousness crept through your skin in goosebumps as you start to ramble. "Of course, there's no problem at all in that, I mean, you can do as you wish. We're free to love who we wish and-"

No problem at all.

These sentences slowly register in his mind as your voice drifts away. Kaeya's words in the tavern echo to him in memory.

Keep acting like that and it won’t be long before I have her all to myself. The cryo user had claimed with so much ease and confidence, as if you were on the tips of his fingers, only one snatch away-

"Kaeya." He mouthed, almost as if he didn't mean to. "Archons, you love Kaeya." His hand quickly makes its way to cover his face, he wants to groan into it but he bites his cheek. His brother, of all people.

He remembers how he took the contract from him.

"Kaeya? What?" Your stutter, "Love him? Diluc, what on earth are you going on about!"

He took away your chance for love.

"That's why you invited him out for tea, right? That's why he's- he-" A crackle of lightning and thunder graces the sky, illuminating the room with a flash. Diluc's expression is a mix of heartache and frustration, yours equally matching his. The penetrating sound of rain waves through the tension between you.

"That's not it! That's not it at all!" Your shawl falls off your shoulders, tears welling up your eyes.

"Then what is it, Y/N!" His voice rises and he isn't sure why. He's exhausted and he's losing you and he's scared. "What is it!" He demands again and all you can think of is him.

"The truth is, I love you." You could say but you don't. Your tongue holds you back and you choke on the weight of your own lungs, avoiding his expectant gaze, you turn away to the foyer. Hands quickly make haste on the oversized brass handle as you push open the door, running out into the heavy rain.

"Where are you going?"

You don't respond.

Perhaps you were delirious, sick with fever, impulsive– It was terrible how you shivered, gasping on your own breath. The rain poured and soaked you, the occasional thunder resonated with the thumping of your heart. It was freezing.

"Y/N! Get back in here!" You hear him call after you.

"No!" You screeched, hands rolled into fists by your sides, tears cascading down each cheek as they join the falling rain. How could you ever return? You were a parasite. Leeching off everything when he deserved so much more.

Your emotions were overwhelming you, your thoughts spiraling into an endless abyss of him him him; of medical bills on his office table; of a bright blonde traveler and her wide smiles; of your stupid parents; of stupider contracts; of wine you can't drink and weddings over your budget; of him him him-

So you run and run and you think you've gotten far but his footsteps splashing on puddles never faded from your hearing and soon you're stumbling, foot lodged in mud, shoulder bumping into the wood of a grapevine, nightdress dirtied. With a glance behind you, you realize you barely made it far at all.

You can't even run away.

Diluc is immediately by your side, warm hands pulling you closer to an even warmer torso. Even kneeling in the cold of the rain, in the dead of the night; even in your shivering and gasping to breathe properly, he is warm.

Yet you scuffled out of it, hands weakly trying to rip his arms away, fists hitting on his shoulder, form squirming to get away from these oh-so-complicated feelings you've bottled up for too long and-

"Please," Diluc's voice breaks you out of your struggle. "Please. Please, just- you can love Kaeya." His voice cracks and there's a tremble in his arms. "I won't say anything anymore. You can stay in the city, take any apartment there. What do you want? What do you need? Anything- everything in the winery is yours, it's all yours, just please come back inside with me, please."

With the declaration out in the air, you hesitate to reply, scared of what emotion might show in your tone. "Why?" You ask.

"You'll get sick," He responds, "You're still sick. Your fever- please, let's go inside."

He wonders if you'll refuse him again as you allow him to help you stand. Maybe you'll run further away from him, far from the winery, into the city and in someone else's arms. What would he do then? Can he really handle the heartache of taking out the horse drawn carriage to drop you off Kaeya's apartment? He feared the worse when you don't follow the pull of his grip. Your hands intertwined, palm against palm with his.

"Why?" Voice resembling a plea, your E/C eyes meet red ones, "Why are you offering so much for me?" You inquire.

"If you get worse, I'll lose you." He states.

"What does it matter?"

"Why must it not?"

"We're a contract."

He hesitates, eyes scanning yours.

"To you," he starts, "To you I've been a contract. And forgive me if that's all you've ever expected of me but I-" Thunder crackles.

Diluc was never good with words, but he should have done this long before he slipped the ring on your finger. He didn't have to mean anything to you but goddamn will he hold back and let you think you mean the same to him.

"I have loved you for the longest time and-" A crack of thunder, "For archon's sake will I ever let you get so sick again over something I'm entirely capable of preventing. I have loved you and I'm not about to lose you. I have loved you. I love you and you plague me. I'm in love with you. I can't think of anything else; I don't need anything else." He chokes out, composing himself as fast as he lost it, "So please allow me to love you. Please come home with me."

It's like a dream come true; it is a dream come true with the way relief washes over you with every mention of love.

"Alright," You mumble out, squeezing his hand tightly with yours, "Let's go home."

"By the way," You hum. It's been a few days since the incident, the worse of your fever passing. Diluc sits by your bedside skimming through paperwork as you rest, reading a book.

"I really love you too," You smile and he freezes, staring at you.

"Diluc... your papers are on the floor... Diluc?"

What stupid idiots in love.

"Happy anniversary!" The small group cheers, clicking their glasses of wine and juice with an echo of laughter.

"They're acting as if it's their anniversary." Diluc narrows his eyes, arms crossing and wondering why he even bothered to bring out some of his finest wines for them. Your giggle breaks through the noise and his expression softens. Ah yes, he knows why.

"It's not every day the esteemed master Diluc invites everyone, much less the knights, for a free drinking party in the tavern." Kaeya muses, tilting a glass of alcohol to his lips.

"For the record, it's an anniversary celebration. Not a drinking party."

"Still. It's the first of its kind!" The cryo user added, "Not so bad a result if I do say so myself. I was getting tired of babysitting your relationship. To think you only needed a push in the right direction~"

The redhead groans, shoving the other with his shoulder but despite the annoying attitude, there's a ghost of a smile twitching the corners of his lips.

"Although," Diluc sighs, unfolding his arms to look at him, "You didn't have to go as far as saying you'll take her for yourself just to get a rise out of me. That was just low."

Kaeya laughs, one arm about to wrap over the redhead to which he quickly slaps away, "Why, can't take a joke? I must say, it did end up working a bit too well."

"Yeah, yeah," Diluc shoves the cryo user before walking away to approach you you you-

You who looked just as pretty as the day a teenage Kaeya Ragnvindr saw you from the top steps of the winery staircase. Kaeya who wanted to catch a glimpse of what an old contract had to offer, nervous and shy, worried you wouldn't be too keen over an adopted orphan yet you waved ever so gently when you spotted him.

Kaeya Ragnvindr who believed he could find love if it were handed to him by your hands. Kaeya who wanted to take you far away until he caught a glimpse of his brother's lovesick face.

Diluc Ragnvindr who perfectly greeted you like a true noble's son; Diluc who wasn't much for small talk yet your conversations transversed through topics like you were desperate to hear every syllable pronounced by his tongue; from his role as the Cavalry Captain to your hobbies, everything bloomed with life and laughter as Kaeya could only watch his first family and first love fall in perfect sync.

Kaeya learned of love the day he handed the contract to his brother.

Kaeya smiles at the sight of your husband pulling you up to dance before turning to the bartender.

"Another glass, please."

"You shouldn't be drinking." Diluc says as he approaches you, "We just left the doctor's office and you're already-"

"It's grape juice, love." You chuckle as he leans down to plant a kiss on your cheek.

"Oh how sweet, to think I'd see the day Diluc Ragnvindr take his wife to her doctors appointment together~" Lisa teases as the redhead rolls his eyes.

"Speaking of the doctors, Y/N, how's your condition? We're still up for next week, right?" Lumine inquires, placing a hand on top of yours.

"Yes, we're still up for next week, Lumine; The new medication works wonders; And honestly, Lisa! Diluc's followed me in every doctors appointment now. It's nothing new."

Lisa laughs, "It's just so amusing that it took him a year to get over his crushing stage. Tell me again how it happened? A confession under the rain, was it? Oh, so romantic!"

"Oh, oh! And I heard from the maids that he carried her bridal style all the way back home~" Lumine adds, a teasing grin on her face.

Diluc groans, pulling you up and away from the Librarian and traveler. You wave them goodbye as you follow.

"Everyone thinks some kind of love story happened." He mutters to you once you're far enough away.

"Well, it's better than admitting how you clung to me in the rain~ And you cried so cutely as well-" He cuts you off by popping a grape to your mouth.

"Keep talking and I'll tell everyone how you puked on my shirt right after confessing."

That shut you up real quick.

A little character/story analysis to end the series!!! I really like doing these huh

First thing's first! How did you like the perspectives? Like over analyzing Lumine's gestures when they were barely spared a second in Lumine's own POV (Ch3-4); Or your POV of a cold Diluc when he was actually just distracted from work; or Kaeya's POV of workaholic Diluc when he's actually thinking of you this time?

Unreliable narrators are the best for misunderstandings!

Diluc and Reader belittling what Kaeya always wanted, "a contract" is probably what pushes him to the edge

If you read through all the chapters you might notice the subtle hints on how busy Diluc is. I wanted the idea of a busy Diluc to justify how out of touch he's been with you.

From the flashbacks we see a sort of trauma Diluc has in being selfish with Reader. Sure at some point he could've thought "Maybe they'll fall for me if I take action" but look where that lead him: to you being deathly sick on your wedding day. He wanted the wedding celebration, he wanted to see you under a veil, now he's paying the price. (ch.3) It's the "I almost lost you bc of me" trauma

And if you remember back how he practically killed Crepus to put him out of his misery :D then you know why he's so scared of being your trigger

While Diluc's reason was trauma-oriented and his general difficulty in communicating, yours was more about codependence. You hesitated to even talk to him, if you could help it, you'd rather exist by not existing in his life— yet at the same time, you're only human and repressing your emotions could sometimes lead to outbursts.

If you've ever heavily relied on someone, then you'd understand the feeling of never wanting to burden them with anything. Especially if you're useless to them (which sickly reader kind of is). You were ready to let Diluc do whatever he wanted, including taking in a mistress.

Had this been a longer series (and if I had been a better writer), I would've gone into depth on reader obtaining her own sense of independence, but I'm keeping it short instead to keep the essence of a dialogue fic :>

Mickey Milkovich was NOT freaking out, he was just mentally acrobatting his options.

As the top rated Event Planner in Chicago his reputation was in peril if he couldn't pull off this wedding.

Fucking TikTok, fucking influencers, fucking Instagram.

How did social media go from Myspace and fun shit on tumblr to people making money off of shit they posted? It boggled his mind.

He had been booked as a wedding planner for an Instagram makeup artist named Kember Bay, and her basketball player boyfriend Hutch Kline. And they wanted all the stops pulled, practically a fucking Cirque de Solei show.

But if he bombed this he would be out, done with the business, it would ruin him and he would be back doing kiddie parties dressed as a super hero.

At the moment there was only a couple days before the wedding, they were in the middle of doing the pre rehearsal dinner where Mickey usually had two people act out the wedding while the bride and groom watched and noted anything they wanted changed before the actual rehearsal dinner. Then at the real rehearsal dinner the bride and groom would practice and usually it all went without a hitch.

Except the subs for the prehearsal didn't show.

Mickey was practically running through the corridor looking for someone, anyone who would step in for him, but everyone seemed to be out of the hotel or in bed because he didn't see a soul.

He passed the hall that led to the gym and then stuttered to a stop a tall redhead was coming out of the gym.

"Yo Red, wanna make a hundred bucks?" Mickey called to him to get his attention. 

The redhead looked around to see where the words had come from, then seeing Mickey he raised an eyebrow and walked towards him. Mickey's breath caught in his throat as he got a better look of the redhead. He was tall, taller than he looked initially, Mickey barely came up to his nose, his hair had a curl to it, he was spattered with freckles, and his eyes were the color of clovers.

"Did you just ask if I wanted to make a hundred bucks?" He asked, his voice confused.

Fuck.

"Yes, I'm in a jam, my subs for the event I'm planning didn't show and I need someone to just follow my cues for like an hour. I'll give you two hundred if you just come with me now." Mickey wasn't trying to come off as desperate, but that's what it sounded like.

"Uh sure, I guess. Want me to change first? I just finished a workout and I'm a fucking mess." He asked gesturing to himself, he was in a pair of long basketball shorts and a black tank top that clung to him tightly.

Mickey shook his head, "There's no time, it starts in five minutes, and these little influencer bitches will kill my business if i piss them off in any way."

The redhead nodded, "Alright, lead the way then." He said with a shrug.

Mickey grabbed the redhead's wrist and broke out into a run pulling him along behind him.

They reached the ballroom just as Kember and Hutch did, Mickey nearly causing the redhead to run into him as he stopped abruptly.

"Mr. Milkovich, we are excited to see the prehearsal." Kember greeted him with a hug and air kisses, Mickey fucking hated how people thought that was fancy acting, but she was signing his paycheck so he wasn't gonna complain.

"Thank you Kember, Can I get you and Hutch anything to drink?" Mickey asked looking between them.

They shook their heads no, but the redhead seemed to need some water so Mickey went to the small mini fridge that was hidden behind the ballroom bar and grabbed some water for him.

"Thanks." He murmured taking the bottle from Mickey, his fingertips brushing Mickey's.

"Thank you man, I need the help, what's your name?" Mickey asked trying not to mentally catalogue every bulging muscle that the tank top clung to on the ginger.

"Ian, Ian Gallagher." he said with a nod.

"Thank you Ian, alright I'm gonna go over the plan with those two, then you and me are gonna act it out, okay?" Mickey asked.

Ian nodded, "Sure."

Mickey smiled, his heart warm as he turned to Kember and Hutch.

"Alright, so we'll start at the other end of the ballroom, Ian will come down the walkway here and walk down to the platform here, we'll each climb a side, then the German Mennonite minister Guengerich that Hutch's grandfather picked out, who is here," Mickey nodded to the older man standing at the risers.

"Will recite the words, we'll recite the vows, then that part of the prehearsal is done and then we'll play the song set and taste test the cupcakes that are prepared. Sound good?" Mickey asked looking between Kember, Hutch, and Ian, glad to see all of them nodding.

Mickey nodded at Ian to go to the end of the walkway while he waited at the platform, he started some music on his bluetooth speaker using the phone in his pocket.

Kember and Hutch turned to watch Ian walk up the aisle, Mickey couldn't help but watch him either, he was a fire touched god among men, he was freckled and tall and fucking beautiful.

Mickey gulped as Ian made it to the platform and waited at the side Mickey indicated. As the chorus on the song began Ian and Mickey both began to climb the steps to the risers until they reached the top and stopped in front of Father Guengerich.

Mickey had learned that day that Father Guengerich didn't speak engligh, just German, so he had google translated as much as he could about the prehearsal and run through with the vows.

Father Guengerich nodded and pulled a bible out of his pocket as well as a piece of paper, he waved it and a pen out to Mickey.

"He needs to know our names so he can say em right or some shit." Mickey said scribbling his name on the line the pastor had indicated then passed it to Ian who did the same.

Father Geungerich took the paper back and slid it into the pages of his bible, then he began speaking, nodding at Mickey and Ian's hands indicating for them to hold each others.

Mickey reached for Ian's as he turned and held Mickey's, Mickey felt a breath escape him at the warmth encompassing him.

Father Guengerich's voice was flitting in and out of Mickey's head, he didn't speak a fucking word of German, and as far as he knew he didn't speak english, which didn't seem to matter because he started speaking in Plautdietsch.

After he said some words he looked at Ian, who seemed to get the hint, "Ian Gallagher," he said softly, his hand gripping Mickey tighter.

Father Guengerich then nodded at Mickey who gulped and said, "Mikhailo Milkovich."

Father Guengerich smiled and then recited some more words and then gestured to Ian.

"I do." Ian smiled.

Mickey chuckled, knowing that they were probably supposed to say more, but I do did it enough to keep it going and wrap it up quickly.

Father Geungerich looked from Ian to Mickey who cleared his throat, "I do."

Father Geungerich said a few more words and then made some hand gestures, then nodded his head, as if letting Mickey and Ian know it was okay to kiss.

Mickey blushed furiously, but he got on his tiptoes and pressed a quick kiss to Ian's cheek.

He stepped back looking at him, catching the dreamy look in his green eyes.

They stood there looking for each other for a moment before Father Guengerich cleared his throat.

Ian and Mickey looked at him, he was producing a piece of paper with his signature at the bottom.

Mickey, confused, took the paper and read it over, his mouth falling open witch terror and shock.

"What is it?" Ian asked trying to look over the paper over Mickey's shoulder.

"That motherfucker actually married us!" Mickey couldn't help but yelp looking up at Ian in shock.

"What?!" Ian shouted reaching for the paper in Mickey's hands.

"He must not have understood that this was a dry run, fuck now I've got to get a new marriage certificate for the actual wedding tomorrow, then get another fucker in here that can understand him and translate shit. Then..." Mickey trailed off looking up at Ian.

"Fuck, we're married." He said softly.

Ian raised an eyebrow, "And you didn't even propose." He clucked his tongue in mock disappointment shaking his head from side to side.

Mickey eyed the smart ass redhead then felt a blush swirling in his cheeks, "Well, you didn't get us rings." he pointed out with a grin.

"Guess my new husband and I will have to go out and find rings and have dinner after our wedding is over." Ian said unable to suppress a giggle.

Mickey laughed, "Is my husband asking me out on a date?" he asked arching his eyebrows at Ian.

"That's how you keep the romance alive babe, keep dating even after you're married." Ian grinned mischieviously.

"Alright hot stuff, let me wrap this shit up here then we can go on a date." Mickey challenged.

"Sounds good to me husband." Ian said leaning down and pressing a kiss to Mickey's forehead.

"Fuck, I'm in trouble." Mickey muttered to himself.

Do they play any instruments? Sports? Ruby played flute in middle school, and still sometimes does during camp music class or songs around the fire, if she can duet them with Chris's guitar. In high school she was a cheerleader, which surprised everyone because she's pretty reserved and bookish. She wanted to play hockey but her school was too traditional to let a girl do that. She'll play volleyball at camp with the campers and counselors.

What are some items they always carry? For one, the silver bracelet with a heart shaped ruby charm that has a hidden silver blade, which Chris gave her on their six month anniversary. (Charm its inspired by below).

Aquaphor lip balm, the kind in a squeeze tube. A plain zippo lighter. Her silver plated knife, which is a serrated combat knife with an engraving of the Hackett name on the blade. Some kind of medical supplies, what many would call a mini first aid kit. Outside of camp: At least one vial of wolf's blood. Her silver Colt 1877 double action Revolver with pearl grips (see below), which has been in the Hackett family for generations and was originally intended to be a first anniversary gift from Chris, but some unforeseen circumstances had Travis give it to her early instead. Several packs of silver ammo.

Do they collect anything? Unique rocks and gems she finds in the wild, "vulture culture" stuff like teeth, bones, feathers etc, statues and figurines of birds.

Plot

A bunch of rookie teenage superheroes and their journey to becoming family, protectors of the city, and eventually defenders of the world over the course of five years and five books- following their adventures in crime-fighting, chore rotations, grocery shopping, fighting and protecting each other like siblings, and saving the world.
