Monday Murals - Vhils at UNESCO
The one behind the Paywall. Once you look for something you find it everywhere.
This will make Vhils art piece number 5 in Paris that I have photographed (I think the others he had made in Paris have been demolished).
I made the mistake of thinking that the wall would be accessible to the public but it is actually part of the UNESCO permanent art collection so you need to first get in the premises. It was the little push I needed to finally book a tour.
The work, created especially for UNESCO and unveiled on July 12, is a 31-meter-long fresco featuring eleven UNESCO World Heritage sites on different continents. But this creation by Vhils is also a tribute to Ellen Wilkinson, British politician, feminist and reformer, who was President of the Organization's inaugural Conference.
Mada'in Saleh, Saudi Arabia - The Great Pyramid at Giza and The Sphinx, Egypt - Casa Battló, Barcelona, Spain - Hagia Sophia, Istanbul, Türkiye - Timbuktu, Mali - Cemetery in Surat, Gujarat, India - Cathedral of Brasilia, Brasil

Cathedral of Brasilia, Brasil - Ellen Wilkinson, 1891-1947 - Roman Forum, Italy

Every religion and community in India practice their own culture and enjoy it to the fullest. India celebrates holidays according to state, religion, and society. Festivals in India are never ending and every day is something to celebrate.
Diwali
The nation commemorates Lord Rama's homecoming to Ayodhya after a 14-year exile by lighting diyas, making rangolis, adorning homes, donning new garments, giving out presents, and setting off fireworks. People also revere Lord Ganesha, who represents moral beginnings, and Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of riches and prosperity. In West Bengal and Odisha, it is referred to as Kali Puja. It is known as Bandi Chor Diwas in Sikhism, and around this time, worshippers light the Golden Temple of Amritsar and enjoy fireworks displays. All around the nation, Diwali melas are organized. In Karnataka, there is a five-day celebration, which can be witnessed during India tours. In the Braj region, Diwali is devoted to Lord Krishna, and as a result, they worship Govardhan Mountain. Numerous thousands of people come to the venue to watch the spectacle showcasing the nation's unity and cultural diversity. You need to register for this event from government websites during your India tour packages.
Holi
The festival of colors is the friendliest holiday in the nation. The night before Holi is Holika Dahan, when all negativity is burned in a bonfire. The Dahi Handi festival is held in Mumbai, Pune, and Gujarat, during which groups construct human pyramids to reach a yogurt pot that is suspended at a specific height. In Gujarat, traditional dances are presented at the temples. Farmers in Gujarat's Kutch region paint bullock carriages with Krishna statues to perform pageants. People participate in devotional songs and celebrate the holiday in North East and South India, respectively. The most important Indian festivals are observed in Mathura, Vrindavan, and ISKCON.
Durga Pooja

In the eastern and north-eastern states of India, it is celebrated over a period of ten days and is a significant social occasion. The believers take pleasure in the lengthy and intricate procedures. You are surrounded by colorful streets, pandals, bhajans, and dazzling lights throughout the festival season. Additionally, to commemorate Maa Durga's victory over the buffalo demon, actual animal sacrifices are made at the temples of West Bengal, Odisha, and Assam. In Karnataka, it is known as Mysore Dasara. The scheduled dates could change.

The Indian state of Gujarat is responsible for numerous contributions to the globe, some of the most notable of which are the natural splendor, wildlife reserves, and hill resorts found there. Sculpture, handicrafts, arts, and festivals all contribute to the prosperity of the state in their own unique ways. The Indian state of Gujarat, which can sometimes be referred to as the "Jewel of Western India" due to its location in Western India and its reputation for beauty, is the focus of the thematic guide and overview that is presented in the following paragraphs. It has a total shoreline of 1,600 kilometers (990 miles), the majority of which is located on the Kathiawar peninsula, with an overall land area of 196,024 square kilometers (75,685 square miles). In addition, it has a population that is higher than sixty million people at the present time. Dresses in the traditional style of Gujarat: Kediya or kurta can be worn on top of the traditional Gujarati costume for males, and either dhoti or chorno can be worn at the bottom of the traditional Gujarati outfit. Chaniya Choli and sarees are two of the most common forms of women's clothing in Gujarati culture. You might have observed that they've taken to wearing salwar kameez more frequently in recent times. Caves, stupas, monasteries, temples, and monuments dating back to ancient times can be found throughout Gujarat. These buildings are excellent illustrations of the Indo-Sarcenic architectural style, which mixes characteristics of the Hindu architectural style with those of the Islamic architectural style. The city of Ahmedabad, which is also the capital of the Indian state of Gujarat, was the first in all of India to be designated a World Heritage City by UNESCO.
