Monday Murals - Vhils at UNESCO
The one behind the Paywall. Once you look for something you find it everywhere.
This will make Vhils art piece number 5 in Paris that I have photographed (I think the others he had made in Paris have been demolished).
I made the mistake of thinking that the wall would be accessible to the public but it is actually part of the UNESCO permanent art collection so you need to first get in the premises. It was the little push I needed to finally book a tour.
The work, created especially for UNESCO and unveiled on July 12, is a 31-meter-long fresco featuring eleven UNESCO World Heritage sites on different continents. But this creation by Vhils is also a tribute to Ellen Wilkinson, British politician, feminist and reformer, who was President of the Organization's inaugural Conference.
Mada'in Saleh, Saudi Arabia - The Great Pyramid at Giza and The Sphinx, Egypt - Casa Battló, Barcelona, Spain - Hagia Sophia, Istanbul, Türkiye - Timbuktu, Mali - Cemetery in Surat, Gujarat, India - Cathedral of Brasilia, Brasil
Cathedral of Brasilia, Brasil - Ellen Wilkinson, 1891-1947 - Roman Forum, Italy
Parthenon, Greece - Ayutthaya, Thailand
Yucatan Pyramids of Kukulcan, Chichen Itza, Mexico
