Late Nights [Part Seven]
Part Seven..
Read Part Six Here
A/N: Here we gooo..
"Morning fellas!" I chirp as I step into the garage. My gray flannel pants sliding against the floor with my fuzzy duck slippers. I pushed my long brown waves out of my face and placed my hand back on my mug, hugging it to my body. The boys were on either side of Baby, giving her a deep clean.
"Morning" Dean smirked, "nice slippers."
I stuck my tongue out at him, then took a sip of my coffee. "How did you sleep?" Sam asked with a smile.
"Pretty good actually. I'm back to my habit of going to bed at three in the morning and waking up around eight to help you guys."
"Speaking of help" Sam paused, "thank you for the new mattress. Dean kind of told me you were behind the whole thing."
"Oh, you're welcome! Do you like it?? I replaced it last week before we left for Texas."
"Like it? I love it! Best surprise ever. Especially after a week long solo hunt. I was going to thank you earlier, but you've been pretty busy since you got back." He made his way across the garage, pulling me into a tight hug.
"Anyways, I'm going to start breakfast while you two finish Baby. I was wondering if you two had any requests?"
"Bacon." they both stated in unison.
I giggled and made my way back to the kitchen, starting the usual Sunday breakfast we always have.
"These waffles are the best!" Dean mumbles through his mouthful of food, reaching for another piece of bacon.
"Can I ask you something?" Sam asks as he takes a bite of his bacon.
"Shoot."
"Why are you going out to dinner with him?"
"What are you talking about?"
"He broke your heart, and now you're just going to act like it never happened?"
"Sam, I'm not acting like it never happened. I know better than that. I can't seem to forget what happened, but I still want him in my life. Even if it's only as friends, okay? Besides, I doubt he'll even show."
"You doubt he'll even show and you're still going??"
"Sam, it's a diner down the street, it's just dinner. I have a guard up now, everything will be fine. If not, I have you two when I get home. I'm not going into this with a ton of false hope. I'm just trying to keep someone I care about in my life."
"Fine, I understand. But if he hurts you again, I swear.."
"In all fairness love, I think Dean- o will beat you to it." I giggle as I take a drink of my orange juice. "What are the plans for the day anyways? Research? Do we need to go anywhere?"
"Nope, just a lazy day today. Movies, junk food, the works."
"Okay cool, I'll catch up on laundry for all of us so we can be set for the week. Then, I'll get ready for my dinner-type-thing tonight. I'm not really sure what to call it. Anyways, don't worry about cleaning up breakfast you two. I'll get it soon."
"Make sure you dress in a way that would make him regret leaving you, I know I would regret it." Dean gave me a smirk and a wink as I made my way to the rooms to start collecting everything.
"You would have to get me first, hot shot." I smirk as I walk backwards, quickly turning around and making my way down the hall.
I exhale slowly as I pull my jean jacket on, observing myself in the mirror. My long hair is in loose curls, my face simple in only foundation, mascara, and pink gloss. My eyes travel down my body to a white lace trim cami, light wash skinny jeans with a matching denim jacket, and gold braided gladiators. I tilt my head to the side adding gold threaded earring and then slip on my gold watch to my wrist.
"Well look at you." Dean beams at me as he leans against my door frame.
"How do I look?" I ask, feeling my heart pounding in my chest.
"Like an absolute goddess, he won't know what hit him."
I smile as my phone chimes from my bed, my heart racing a little more now. Hey, I'm leaving now. I should be there in five or so. Okay, see you soon :)
"Wish me luck! I'm probably going to walk since it's a nice night."
"Good luck, and if anything happens call Sammy or I." Dean picks up my phone, sliding it into my hand. "We'll be there to pick you as soon as possible, understood?"
"Understood. Have a good night Dean." I step up on my toes, wrapping my arms around his neck.
I make it to the diner before he does, taking a seat at a booth that helps me see the front door clearly. The bell chimes and I look up, my heart starting to race again. Six feet tall, blue green eyes, and dark hair walking through the door. His eyes scanning the place, quickly finding mine as a smile forms.
"Hey!" he reaches towards me as I stand up, pulling me into a tight hug. I reach an around his neck and squeeze back.
"I didn't think you were going to show." I teased as I sat down, glancing at him before looking at the menu.
"I almost bailed last minute, honestly."
"Ha! I knew it! But you're here anyways, so it doesn't really matter, right?"
"Right."
I was about to open my mouth when the waitress popped up to take our order. "A bacon cheeseburger with extra onions, a double order of fries, and a vanilla shake please."
"I'll take a turkey club with fries as well, and a sweet tea please."
"Coming right up!" she smiled as she tapped her pen against her notepad and making her way to the kitchen.
"So what's been new with you?" I smile as I lean in on my elbows.
"Work is still frustrating as ever, but I've also been going to the gym. How about you?" he asks, mirroring my position and leaning in on his elbows as well.
"I took a little spontaneous trip to Texas last week with Dean, that was super fun! I've always wanted to live there."
"I thought you looked more tan." he said with a cocky grin, "But that explains why you didn't answer my message right away."
"Well that, and I wasn't really sure what was going to happen."
"I just wanted to catch up with you, that’s all."
I smiled as the waitress sat our food down in front of us, my mouth instantly watering.
Hey, it's been a few hours. Are you okay??? I'm fine Dean, we just decided to drive around and talk some more. I'm heading back home now. I'm pulling up to the place now.
"It's was nice catching up with you." I smile gently at him as I open the door and step out, "Text me if you ever need anything. Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
There's a skip in my step as I make my way into the bunker. Hopping down the steps and into the war room with the boys.
"There you are! What the hell did you two talk about??" Dean asks taking a sip from his beer, his jaw slightly clenched.
"All sorts of stupid stuff. It was amazing to just talk to him again!"
"Did he try anything?" Sam asked with worried eyes.
"Just confirmed what I thought. He told me he thought about the break up for a couple of weeks before. I told him I already knew that, that the one time I thought I was overthinking something I wasn't. Blah-blah-blah. He also told me that he was having a bonfire for his birthday in a couple of weeks and wanted me to come."
"Here we go.." Dean mumbles.
"What are you talking about?"
"He's regretting his choices and now he's going to try and win you back. He'll probably ask you to something the next couple of weeks before his birthday. Then he'll tell you everything you want to hear."
"That's not a bad thing Dean. I love him, and if things go back to the way they were.. It would just be perfect. If things do go wrong, please just let me make these mistakes on my own."
"You don't get it!" his voice raises as he stands up. "It’s never going to go back to the way it was! I have to watch someone take advantage of your heart.. again!! For years, you did everything for everyone. Now, you're going to do everything for him! You're just going to play right into this. Even if his intentions are true, who's to say he won't change his mind? Huh??"
"Dean.." I start as I glance over, "Sam.. I know you both feel this way. Believe me, I know people take advantage of me sometimes. I know. But it's just a part of me that I can't seem to change. I give because I know what it feels like to want. I've seen the way people can change and become cold. I don't want to be that person, you guys."
Dean runs his hand down his face as he sighs, quickly standing and walking out of the room. "I'm going to bed."
I swallow the lump in my throat and lean back in my chair, sighing as I run my fingers through my hair. I couldn't handle him being mad at me right now, not after all the times he has told me he would support my decision. He always has, so what changed him this time?
