oh jegus one Mildly Annoying Response that actually felt well-meaning enough to reply to when I work up some energy has attracted the attention of people who are far far more annoying.
"well maybe if you don't want your shit stolen you shouldn't make it available for people to see 😏"
I think of explaining why that's dumb as fuck and not tenable to reality, and I feel years of my life leave my body. So much for that second wind.
But hey. Hey. That means it's pogeymon time.
me, too tired to respond to something annoying: hgggh i just wanna play pokemon i'm just gonna block 'em and move on me: me, slowly gaining energy: me: nooo please body don't formulate a response i just wanna play pokemooon :(
#i am forced to say this because i do not want to give these fuckasses the satisfaction#of thinking i am blocking because there isn't a good counter to their argument#there is#i'm just too goddamn tired rn#the short versions are “yes we have to adjust how society works in consideration of how the internet has redefined How Shit Works#“because we are still operating on antiquated laws that do not consider how the digital age has changed theft and exploitation”#“and copyright is a weak as fuck and highly exploitable shield that STILL doesn't account for this culture shift#“y'know like I mentioned in my original post”#and “jesus christ think like A: A human being B: with a conscience for five seconds why don't you"#“just give it a try”#“try thinking about things as they actually work in reality instead of according to vague brainless details that fit your gotchas”#here i'll even get them started: imagine for a moment the societal consequence#both for working artists who rely on the internet to survive#and for literally everyone else#if artists stopped making their work available to see#hard mode: consider this under the limitations of the actual fucking society we currently live in#here's another fun question to ponder: why does 'we can see it' make 'we can take it and use it for personal gain and profit' okay?#hard mode: answer this without sounding like you support being exploited by huge chain corporations#and here's one more: imagine for a moment a big corpo takes someone's art and uses it for profit#what do you think the consequence is for the artist that made it even if all the big corpo took was “a copy”?#and don't worry! we have actual real examples of this happening to tell you the outcome!!#funnily enough those examples are also fantastic examples of exactly why copyright fails to do its job#and why we need to rethink how this shit works#jesus fuck i feel like i'm explaining society to fucking toddlers
