q: what would rhea's reaction be to hera and zeus divorcing? what would be her thoughts, feelings? would she support any side or do her best to remain neutral?
It would initially catch Rhea off guard at first to find out if Hera and Zeus were getting a divorce; however, it’s not like Rhea never thought of the possibility before. She sometimes thought if they eventually divorced, it would be better for the both of them. She can’t deny that they do love each other, built a life together, have a family that they love and care for and rule together pretty well even when they are having problems but they also know to push each others’ buttons and have done horrible things to each other and others around them.
There are pros and cons of their marriage but at the end of the day, she wants the best for them so if that means divorcing, she has no problem with it. She ultimately wants her children to be happy whether that be if they stay married or divorce.
Now when it comes to sides: Zeus and Hera are both of her children and she would do her best to not pick a side between them. If the divorce was amicable, then she is neutral, but if one of them did something unforgivable that ultimately caused the divorce, she’d probably have more sway to support who was hurt in that situation. I mean, she would be supportive of both but she would be honest and voice her concerns. As their mother, she can’t not reprimand the child who was in the wrong; however, she will be there for them as well if they need her. She can’t hate any of her children and never will for what they have done or will do.
So all in all, she can understand why they would divorce and not question or try to prevent it. It’s not her marriage, it’s her children’s and their decision after all.

❝ are you okay? would you tell me if you’re not? ❞
“I might.”
That may have been one of the questions she’s meant to answer with a lie. With a yes. Aides hesitates, her eyes moving a little closer to Hera, nearer her face. She wants to explain, but the layer between herself and her words seems even thicker when she tries to speak of what she feels.
“We are… Apart, now. You and I.” A small gesture of her hand describes the space between them, the gulf of worlds. “You are… Your own. And I am mine.” Not like when they were young, and Aides found all her safety in holding the fringe of Hera’s garment.
“Should it be different? We should be–close?” That’s not exactly what she means. She forms her next question more clearly. Her voice is sincere: “Do you want that?”

💀. ʜᴀᴘᴘʏ ᴍᴇᴍᴇ ; ( 🌸 accepting. )51. My muse tells yours their dark secret.
IT ISN’T A secret, not really. she’s sure zeus has told anyone who will listen, anyone who would spare a second. she’s sure hera has heard it. someone has told her before and someone will tell her again, over and over, so many times that it will be impossible to forget yet another of her husband’s transgressions. it isn’t a secret; it’s something that persephone has never admitted to and will never admit to again. but hera needs to know nonetheless.
PERSEPHONE PUTS A hand on her stomach. it’s a bump in a place she never thought there would be, minuscule but certain. hades cannot have children. she had known that, and been overjoyed with fate handed her a son. he was not of her blood nor was he of hades’, but he was theirs nonetheless. this one will be theirs, too, parentage be damned. she will not let this baby become another of zeus’ forgotten children, like their mother. the child will be hades’ in all but blood.
FATES BE KIND, they will look like her and no one else.
“ THEY’RE TRUE, THE rumors, ” she says, quietly, a sense of shame so deep in within her bones it makes her voice quake. she didn’t want to be the one to tell her. persephone doesn’t take great pleasure in causing her aunt pain. still, hera deserves to know for sure. “ this child . . . they’ll belong to hades in all ways but one, i swear to you. i don’t want him near them. i don’t expect anything from him except his silence on the matter. ” not that she’ll get it, though. not that she’ll ever get it. “ you can still be their great aunt. ”

“So, you’re finally here.” Clymene remarked with a nod of acknowledgement. The day before Oceanus and Tethys informed all of their children who still lived with them about the arrival of Hera who was to stay them for the time being. The titaness had moved back in with her parents right after the war, finding refuge among familiar faces.
The thought of being alone after two of her sons along with her husband who were bestowed their punishments was something she couldn’t live with at the moment. She could bounce back, return to her vibrant and vivacious self with a little recuperation among her own kind. She just couldn’t be alone. Prometheus and Epimetheus were busy trying to repopulate the Earth so they had little time to spend time with the mother, offering her the company she desperately needed. At least she had her parents and three thousand sisters to chose from...and now Hera.
“Did you see my parents already? Not that it’s mandatory but I know they would like to see you have arrived and are settling in.”

would you like to talk about it?
prompt: therapy / talking about trauma / post - trauma. ↳ status: accepting.
THEY WANT TO say yes, but want only goes so far. a want without action is completely useless -- just a thought that passes as soon as it arrives. tegan is a creature of want, make no mistake about it, but it’s hard for them to actually make an action that helps (or might help) them in the future.
if self-destruction is an art, then tegan is one of the greatest artists -- monet, they wish, but most likely more dalí, all chaos that’s somehow worked in their favor.
there’s a tight-lipped smile, definitely uncomfortable. long fingers curl into the fabric of their sweater, unfocused gaze looking into the floor. the thought of being able to shrink enough to slip through the cracks of the floor and flee comes to mind, resulting in the faintest twitch of their lips.
“i, um.” an exhale, sharp, sharp. “if you promise not to pass judgement, then -- yes.” it comes too easily for their comfort level and it shocks tegan. still, gaze doesn’t rise from the floor, head bowed almost as if in prayer -- ironic, almost, especially considering whom they’re talking to.

Mmm, call it what you like. I have lived too long to deny myself the small pleasures in life, just because of an old war. Or the pleasures, in this case. ;)
I call it like I see it- Insanity and Senility. There is so much better out there that you could have. An you choose....that.

“I know I’m not the greatest parent, but…I’m trying my best.”
parenting sentence starters
“Striving for perfection as a parent is impossible. We all desire to live up to some kind of level of perfection but we can’t. We will always fail at some point but we can learn from our mistakes. Making mistakes comes with the role of being parent. And being a mother,“ Rhea paused for a moment, shaking her head, “is so much harder than being a father. We receive more cruel insults and judgement than our male counterparts. Why? Because it’s in our nature to be mothering and nurturing…not for men. But then again some women are not meant to be mothers even though those who reject motherhood are also shunned.”
Rhea became quiet again, trying to find a focus. She had too many things to say about the topic, finding it to be one that her way of mothering came into question. Being the Mother of the Gods gave her the position of a powerful matriarch in her family and pantheon but it was hardly a qualification that dubbed her a perfect mother and mother figure. It was a thankless job.
Even Hera’s role as a mother was questioned no doubt. And what could Rhea offer her youngest daughter? Encouraging words? Loving sentiments to help her daughter believe she was a good mother?
Decades past after the Titanomachy, Rhea still struggled with how to approach her children and what to say to them. She wanted to be perfect mother to them but she never could. Not only because of it being impossible but she reconnected with them all at older ages. They weren’t babies, young godlings, but grown adults. Did they really need her as much as she wanted them to? What could she offer them now even when some of them were parents themselves?
Perhaps it was time for some honest words for once instead of trying to seem like she knew all the answers without trying to offend or hurt her children.
“Just be the mother you think your children need. Be the mother you wanted me to be.”

❝I suppose it’s a family trait. Everything we love, we turn to ash.❞
sentence prompts ➝ the originals
“And yet I’m here still standing. I’m standing upon those very ashes. Does that mean I didn’t suffer heartbreak? No, but I’ve sucked it up and continued living. I’m not going to cry and complain. I may not have everything I wanted but I’m happy with what I have. I only wish others in our family felt the same. Perhaps that’s another shared family trait…wishing thinking.”
