Books I Read In 2022 (and by read I mean actually liked)
The Fine Print (Dreamland Billionaires #1) by Lauren Asher
"If I had a heart to give, it would be all yours."
⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.75 STARS)
I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would! I understand that the grumpy billionaire x sunshine ‘just your average girl’ trope isn’t everyone, but I have a special place in my heart for it because it’s the main trope I’ve grown up seeing in Indian dramas and later on Kdramas. It’s very reminiscent of some of the shows I watched when I was younger… just more adult. Honestly, this book is great, but the only reason it’s not a 5-star read for me is because I didn’t feel super attached to it and therefore sad to have it end. Most of the books I give 5 stars to leave me with a cathartic feeling wherein I don’t really know what to do with myself afterwards… and this book just didn’t give me that feeling. It was super entertaining and I adored Zahra, but that’s all there is to it.
In terms of Lauren Asher’s writing - truly no notes. A lot of the humour in this book made me feel as though Lauren Asher was actually in my head because this entire book sums up my humour. Zahra especially was absolutely hilarious, there are a number of scenes of hers where I actually laughed out loud. (Can you tell I wasn’t expecting this book to be funny?) Also, Zahra and Rowan’s banter was fantastic, I haven’t read good banter like this in a hot minute. (I think of their more fluffy scenes, I liked the bowling scene the best.)
