Eliyen as a Baldur's Gate 3 companion - part 1
Eliyen, full name Eliyen Lufina, is an origin character and recruitable companion with the Entertainer background. She is a Mephistopheles Tiefling warlock first appearing in Act One.
A warlock with musical talents, Eliyen is entangled in a dangerous pact, which she is determined to see through no matter what. She can first be encountered at the Ravaged Beach during Act One where she can be recruited, and be romanced by characters of any gender.
"It's what I've sworn myself to. Not just as a warlock. As a mother, too." - Eliyen's determination to her cause.
Overview
Starting class: Eliyen is a hexblade warlock, balancing close combat and spell casting, thus she acts as a mostly offensive character.

Special features:
Eliyen's hexblade Cometfell will occasionally make remarks and interact with the player and other companions. Addtionally, it can make perception checks using Eliyen's stats.
Cometfell can be directly interacted with at camp.
In Act Three, Eliyen can offer her services as a performer at taverns, giving the party a sizeable discount.
If she dies and hasn't reached her quota of kills, Cometfell will instruct you to resurrect her. If failing to do so after 3 long rests, Azar will appear in camp, letting the player know that they missed their chance and Eliyen is unable to be resurrected, losing her as a companion.
When played as an origin character, Eliyen has advantage on checks in interactions with Raphael.
Eliyen's progress with her pact can be tracked in Cometfell's item description.
When played as an origin character, Eliyen will have access to interactions limited to Bards due to her background.
Recruitment
Eliyen can be recruited as a permanent companion in Act One. She can leave the party if the player harms a child, confronting them after the act. She can be retained with a DC 30 charisma check but her romance will be unavailable after.
Eliyen can be found in the same area as the Dying Mind Flayer. She will be stuck in her pod still and ask the player to get her out of it. A successful check is required to free her, with multiple options being avaliable:
DC 10 Strength check - available to all classes
DC 7 Intelligence check - available to Wizards
DC 7 Charisma check - available to Warlocks, Sorcerers and Bards
DC 7 Wisdom check - available to Druids and Clerics
DC 2 Illithid Wisdom check - avaliable to all classes
If the initial check fails, a second attempt can be made with increased difficulty:
DC 12 Strength check - available if the first unsuccessful attempt was a Strength or Illithid Wisdom check
DC 10 Strength check - available if the first unsucessful attempt was class specific
Failing the two checks or choosing to leave her there will cause her to appear in the Druid Grove after a long rest, where she can be recruited.

THE DEATH OF DRAGONS
by @rkmoriyama
genre: dark fantasy demographic: adult setting: The Qisean Empire pov: 3 povs, third person, past tense themes & tropes: consequences, betrayal, established relationships, polyamorous relationships, war & battle, death
summary:
Magic is dead. But not for long. The Qisean Empire is on the cusp of war and they don't even know it until it is upon them. A dragon attack on Myne Thelmar, the empire's seat of power, is the cataclysm of the war. Ruvinn Cardalion, the exiled prince, wages war against his brother, the Emperor, to free magic, to let the small seed grow bigger and engulf the Empire as it did so many centuries ago. But for it to really thrive the rebellious mages at Lile Lyssari needs Venna, the only man alive to speak the Old Language. But they are not alone in requiring Venna. In Moren Osnathyr the mages are on the brink of offering their God a human body, but to succeed they need Venna to translate the ritual for them. And to acquire Venna, they send Eliyen Wrancaryn, an outsider very eager to fit in.
the main characters:
Ruvinn Cardalion ; is an exile and a liar, but most of all he is a murderer. And he refuses to be ashamed of it, any of it. Ten years ago, Ruvinn Cardalion lied to be allowed access to long-dead magic, he lied again when he gained access to the last living dragon, and once again he lied when he launched the attack on his brother. He pretends the war he sets in motion is fought to free magic, but in truth, it is a quarrel between brothers and a prophecy of doom. Ruvinn Cardalion might as well have ended the Cardalion name and their centuries-long rule of the Qisean empire. But what does he care about an empire that threw him in the dirt for his crime and pretended he wasn't justified?
Kilyn Venna ; or Venna as he prefers to be called, is many things; assassin, in debt, on the run, and the only person alive who speaks the dead language of the gods. A gift, a curse, something he lives with. He is an unwanted child given to an assassins guild to pay a debt, Venna ran the moment he was to stop learning and start practicing. He turned to the Wementhyr in Myne Thelmar, an underground arena where his training kept him alive, and where his knowledge of the dead language put a target on his back. Venna had two choices, run or be killed, he ran. With the dragon attack on Myne Thelmar as a smokescreen, Venna disappeared without a trace, and he did what he did best; Ran.
Eliyen Wrancaryn ; is a spy in possession of a book of magic that she cannot use. It is the key to the resurrection of a long-dead god. This is her loyalty mission, the one thing that decides Eliyen's fate and place in the world that is to come. If she can find the one who speaks the dead language, she can solidify her place in the new world order and gain everything she has not yet had; wealth, influence, and safety. Eliyen did not choose this mission, she had no choice, she did this to escape a fate worse than death; one without her partner waiting for her in Moren Osnathyr and one where she is shunned and stripped of everything that makes her, her.
