Apple TV+ has released first-look images of its upcoming limited series “The Crowded Room,” which stars Tom Holland, Amanda Seyfried and Emmy Rossum.

The 10-episode thriller series will premiere with its first three episodes on June 9. The remaining seven episodes will then air one episode per week, concluding on Friday, July 28.

“The Crowded Room,” according to its official plot description, follows “Danny Sullivan (Holland) after he was arrested for his involvement in a New York City shooting in 1979. Danny unveils his life through a series of interviews with interrogator Rya Goodwin (Seyfried), and slowly details to Rya, and the audience, his mysterious past that led him to the fateful incident. As Danny retrospectively examines his life, he reckons with his past and a few pivotal moments, that ultimately leads him to uncover a life-altering revelation.”

The series also stars Sasha Lane (“Conversations With Friends”), Will Chase (“Dopesick”), Lior Raz (“Fauda”), Laila Robins (“Planes, Trains and Automobiles”), Henry Eikenberry (“Euphoria”) and guest stars Jason Isaacs (“Harry Potter”), Christopher Abbott (“Catch-22”), Thomas Sadoski (“The Newsroom”) and Zachary Golinger (“A Quiet Place”).

Created by “A Beautiful Mind” Academy Award-winning writer Akiva Goldsman, “The Crowded Room” is a co-production between Apple Studios and New Regency. Goldsman executive produces through his Weed Road Productions, along with Alexandra Milchan for EMJAG Productions and New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer. Kornel Mundruczo directed several episodes, including the show’s pilots, in addition to executive producing.

Filmmakers set to join TheWrap’s studio include Chiwetel Ejiofor, Richard Linklater, Lucy Lawless, Yance Ford, Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, Megan Park, Susanna Fogel and Josh Greenbaum.

TheWrap’s Interview and Portrait Studio presented by NFP — where TheWrap creative director and photographer Jeff Vespa will be shooting talent — will feature in-person conversations with cast members and directors from the top movies premiering at Sundance. First Take: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - the definitive big screen experience

SYNOPSIS: Miles Morales catapults across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. When the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles must redefine what it means to be a hero.

So, let’s start at the beginning, one more time - in 2018 Sony Pictures Animation took us into a new universe for the Spider-Man series; hot off the heels of Marvel Studios’ first efforts with the MCU/Tom Holland series, Into the Spider-Verse embraced the comics and introduced us (properly) to Miles Morales. Now, after Covid related delays, the first in a two part (it is important to stress this point) story takes everything that first film nailed, and turns it up to 11, or rather 7.5 if we’re talking about how loud cinemas are being asked to play it.

Taking the helm of the biggest animated film ever is Joaquim dos Santos (of Avatar: The Last Airbender fame), Kemp Powers and Justin K Thompson, and it is no mean feat to get a film like this done - it is paced well, has a lot of visual prowess, and delivers everything we all wanted from a film like this. This ain’t a short film either, at 2 hours 20 minutes (the longest ever American produced animated feature) there is a lot to digest, but it doesn’t feel that long either - especially with how certain plot points play out. Obviously we can’t reveal such details, but a key part of how this film works is that script from Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Dave Callaham, which takes the idea of the multiverse, flips it around, adds plenty of humour, so many easter eggs, and a slice of emotion that takes this story arc to a whole new level. As for the soundtrack, Daniel Pemberton - one of the most talented composers in the business right now, particularly thanks to his work on the first film - yet again knocks it out of the park, and the accompanying album fits this one like a glove.

Onto the voice cast, and nearly all of the crew who made that first film come alive are back. Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld lead the band as ever, with Jake Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry and Luna Lauren Velez coming back too - but with 200 new characters, where do we start? We start with Oscar Isaac of course. The heavily publicised arrival of Miguel - Spider-Man 2099 - in that initial post credits scene last time gave die hard fans an idea of what to expect, and he was such a good choice for that character. Joining him for this ride are Jason Schwartzmann, Issa Rae, Karan Soni, the voice of a certain cinema’s etiquette message (if you know, you know) Daniel Kaluuya and so many cameos that we legitimately cannot spoil any of them. What we can say is that if you’ve been a fan of Spider-Man in any form - film, TV, games and comics - the amount of easter eggs in this film will well and truly leave you satisfied, right up to the end.

THE VERDICT

Across the Spider-Verse does things most Spider-Man films can only dream of. Faithful to the comics, created with love, and showcasing the sheer scale of storytelling you can do with the character, is it too early to say we are witnessing one of the greatest comic book trilogies ever made? Bring on Beyond the Spider-Verse when it is unleashed next March.

Louis-François, Baron Lejeune (3 February 1775 in Strasbourg – 29 February 1848) was a French general, painter, and lithographer. His memoirs have frequently been republished and his name is engraved on the Arc de Triomphe.

He studied painting in the studio of Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes, alongside Jean-Victor Bertin, but left the studio to volunteer in the Compagnie des arts de Paris in 1792. He received his baptism of fire in the battle of Valmy later that year. He became a sergeant in the 1st Arsenal battalion and in 1793 moved to the artillery at La Fère, assisting in the sieges of Landrecies, Le Quesnoy and Valenciennes. At Valenciennes he became aide-de-camp to General Jacob then, as a lieutenant on attachment to the engineers, took part in the 1794 Holland campaign and the 1795 campaign.

Called to the depot in 1798, he succeeded brilliantly in his exams and was made a captain on attachment to the engineers. He became aide-de-camp to Marshal Berthier in 1800, a post he retained until 1812 and in which he took an active part in practically all of the Napoleonic campaigns. He was wounded and captured in Spain. He was promoted to full captain after Marengo and chef de bataillon after Austerlitz, also becoming a knight of the Légion d'honneur and a colonel at the Siege of Saragossa.

In 1812, during the French invasion of Russia, he was made général de brigade and chief of staff to Davout. Frostbitten on the face, Lejeune left his post during the retreat from Russia and was arrested on the orders of Napoleon. Freed in March 1813, Lejeune was then sent to the Illyrian provinces, before rejoining the army under the orders of Marshal Oudinot, becoming his chief of staff. During the Saxony campaign, Lejeune was present at the Battle of Lutzen (1813), the crossing of the River Spree and at Bautzen. He was made an officer of the Légion d'honneur and a commander of the Order of Maximilian of Bavaria. At the battle of Hoyersverda, when Bülow's corps wiped out the 12th corps formed up in square on the plain, Lejeune (at risk of being kidnapped) ventured into the enemy lines with one battalion, General Wolf's cavalry and six 12 pounder guns. He thus broke the whole of the Prussian artillery and saved marshal Oudinot and his army. Wounded several times and lastly at Hanau, he was authorised to leave the army in November 1813 after more than 20 years' service. After his departure from the army, he devoted himself to painting.

After an initial grant in Hanover in 1808, and a second in Westphalia in 1810, he was made a baron d'Empire in 1810. Already a member of the cross of the Order of Leopold, Lejeune was made a knight of St Louis by Louis XVIII and in 1823 a commander of the Légion d'honneur. He returned to the army (now under the Bourbons) from 1818 to 1824, becoming commander of Haute-Garonne in 1831. On 2 September 1821 he married Louise Clary, sister of General Marius Clary and niece of Désirée Clary, queen of Sweden by her marriage with Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte. In 1824 the king of Sweden conferred on Lejeune the grand-cross of the Order of the Sword. In 1837 he became director of the École des beaux-arts et de l’industrie in Toulouse, a city of which he became mayor in 1841 and in which he died of a heart attack aged 73.

Louis-François Lejeune (1775-1848) had an exciting career as a soldier and  painter. He served mostly under Berthier, and also under Davout and Oudinot. This was his most daring feat:

Lejeune painted a bunch of battle scenes and continued painting into the reigns of the Bourbon restoration.

This was an interesting sidelight:

“The German campaign of 1806 brought him to Munich, where he visited the workshop of Alois Senefelder, the inventor of lithography. Lejeune was fascinated by the possibilities of the new method and whilst there he made the drawing on stone of his famous Cossack. Whilst he was taking his dinner, and with his horses harnessed and waiting to take him back to Paris, one hundred proofs were printed, one of which he subsequently submitted to Napoleon. The introduction of lithography into France was greatly due to the efforts of Lejeune.”

His family soon knew that he had the makings of an artist and, in 1620, when he could hardly have been more than sixteen, and may have been considerably less, he left Leyden University for the studio of a second-rate painter called Jan van Swanenburch. We have no authentic record of his progress in the studio, but it must have been rapid. He must have made friends, painted pictures, and attracted attention. At the end of three years he went to Lastmans studio in Amsterdam, returning thence to Leyden, where he took Gerard Dou as a pupil. A several years later, it is not easy to settle these dates on a satisfactory basis, he went to Amsterdam, and established himself there, because the Dutch capital was very wealthy and held many patrons of the arts, in spite of the seemingly endless war that Holland was waging with Spain.

His art remained true and sincere, he declined to make the smallest concession to what silly sitters called their taste, but he did not really know what to do with the money and commissions that flowed in upon him so freely. The best use he made of changing circumstances was to become engaged to Saskia van Uylenborch, the cousin of his great friend Hendrick van Uylenborch, the art dealer of Amsterdam. Saskia, who was destined to live for centuries, through the genius of her husband, seems to have been born in 1612, and to have become engaged to Rembrandt Van Ryn when she was twenty. The engagement followed very closely upon the patronage of Rembrandt Van Ryn by Prince Frederic Henry, the Stadtholder, who instructed the artist to paint three pictures.

Saskia is enshrined in many pictures.

She is seen first as a young girl, then as a woman.

As a bride, in the picture now at Dresden, she sits upon her husbands knee, while he raises a big glass with his outstretched arm.

Her expression here is rather shy, as if she deprecated the situation and realised that it might be misconstrued.

This picture gave offence to Rembrandt Van Ryns critics, but some portraits of Saskia remained to be painted.

She would seem to have aged rapidly, for after marriage her days were not long in the land.

She was only thirty when she died, and looked much older.

In 1638 we find Rembrandt Van Ryn taking an action against one Albert van Loo, who had dared to call Saskia extravagant. It was, of course, still more extravagant of Rembrandt Van Ryn to waste his money on lawyers on account of a case he could not hope to win, but this thought does not seem to have troubled him. He did not reflect that it would set the gossips talking more cruelly than ever. Still full of enthusiasm for life and art, he was equally full of affection for Saskia, whose hope of raising children seemed doomed to disappointment, for in addition to losing the little Rombertus, two daughters, each named Cornelia, had died soon after birth. In 1640 Rembrandt Van Ryns mother died. Her picture remains on record with that of her husband, painted ten years before, and even the biographers of the artist do not suggest that Rembrandt Van Ryn was anything but a good son. A year later the well-beloved Saskia gave birth to the one child who survived the early years, the boy Titus. Then her health failed, and in 1642 she died, after eight years of married life that would seem to have been happy. In this year Rembrandt Van Ryn painted the famous “Night Watch,” a picture representing the company of Francis Banning Cocq, and incidentally a day scene in spite of its popular name. The work succeeded in arousing a storm of indignation, for every sitter wanted to have equal prominence in the canvas.

It may be said that after Saskias death, and the exhibition of this fine work, Rembrandt Van Ryns pleasant years came to an end. He was then somewhere between thirty-six and thirty-eight years old, he had made his mark, and enjoyed a very large measure of recognition, but henceforward, his career was destined to be a very troubled one, full of disappointment, pain, and care. Perhaps it would have been no bad thing for him if he could have gone with Saskia into the outer darkness. The world would have been poorer, but the man himself would have been spared many years that may be even the devoted labours of his studio could not redeem.

Between 1642, when Saskia died, and 1649, it is not easy to follow the progress of his life; we can only state with certainty that his difficulties increased almost as quickly as his work ripened. His connection with Hendrickje Stoffels would seem to have started about 1649, and this woman with whom he lived until her death some thirteen years later, has been abused by many biographers because she was the painters mistress.

He has left to the world some 500 or 600 pictures that are admitted to be genuine, together with the etchings and drawings to which reference has been made. He is to be seen in many galleries in the Old World and the New, for he painted his own portrait more than a score of times. So Rembrandt Van Ryn has been raised in our days to the pinnacle of fame which is his by right; the festival of his tercentenary was acknowledged by the whole civilised world as the natural utterance of joy and pride of our small country in being able to count among its children the great Rembrandt Van Ryn.

As a child, Ladyhawke was one of my all time favourite films, and the other day I stumbled across it and rewatched it twice within a week. I instantly fell in love all over again, and began to think about how underappreciated it is. I then couldn't stop thinking about how brilliant a remake would be. If Twentieth Century Fox were to remake Ladyhawke, they would need to do it right. I'm talking insanely believable graphics, a spine-chilling soundtrack and not to mention a perfect cast. IF they were to replace the incredible Rutger Hauer, Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Broderick, I can totally see Margot Robbie as Isabeau, Tom Holland as Phillipe and Bill Nighy as the Bishop. I'm still not 100% sold on Henry Cavill as my choice for Navarre. Nobody will ever be able to replace Rutger Hauer, but in terms of his character and personality - I can see Cavill doing a pretty damn good job.

First, we got some amazing news that Spidey is back in the MCU for 3 more films: 2 stand alone movies and a joint, possibly Avengers, movie. New rumours are going around that it will be Secret Wars or have something to do with the Fantastic Four. I mean, we all knew Sony and Marvel couldn’t do this without each other.

And now, we get Brandon Routh reprising his role as Superman. 14 years after Superman Returns premiered.

And not just as Superman but Kingdom Come Superman.

I actually really love Routh’s Superman. He was so natural and confident. I really was not a fan of Henry Cavill’s grungy Superman. Bryan Singer really did screwed Routh over with a shitty script. He looks so much like Reeves and his body is effing huge. Wasn’t there a rumour that he is so well endowed that they had to CG his massive dick briefs?

Also, Tom Welling and Erica Durance returns to the DC franchise. Wonder what their role will be.

It’s a shame that all of it is for CW’s tv series and not an actual movie. I mean, Tom Welling being back on CW makes sense and I guess Routh but I would’ve love to see another Superman movie starring Brandon Routh.

Honestly at this point I’m half hoping that Sony DOESN’T renew their contract with Marvel Studios. 

Because as problematic as ASM1-2 were, at least they were recognizably Spider-Man movies. We can criticise the specific interpretation of Spider-Man and say there were problems and mistakes made for sure, but like at least it was recognizably A take on Spider-Man as opposed to a character who is at this point shaping up to be as much Spider-Man as Henry Cavill was Superman.
