Quarterly routine.. and to end the year on a good note. . This was also my longest donation too. Reached Bloodbank@Woodlands at 2.15pm and found the place full. Told by staff that there's a mass donation by some Army unit.. not sure why it wasn't broadcasted. I was initially hesitant to proceed after being told that waiting time would take 2hours.. but went ahead and join queue as this is the only day I'm free from work before the new year begins. . Too pressed for time and no new squishy available for me to take home. . 47th Donation. I thought this was Donation #4e but its actually my 44th as corrected by Nurse. This is My 1st for 2021. . Familiar faces with a few new ones- SAF Medics on Reservist attachment. Walkin post work is best here coz Low donor traffic:- which was amazing... 😇. No issues prior to donation - especially for the iron levels - at 14.5g/dL. Donation #41. The 1st for 2020 is done. . Since there were so many donors today:- I just waited to be called instead of having Hb test first before Medical Screening by Medical Officer; Luckily it's at 13.5g/dL- Phewww... . During donation i dozed off halfway.. that's a first!! 🤣 nurse handed 2boxes of iron tablets saying my level is on point but gotta go up more for future Donations. next Donation will be May 2020. . 41th Donation. Donation #40. The 2nd for 2019 is done. And I was kinda sad that I didn't meet my yearly Quota of 4/year. . Either this year was just so tiring or jam packed that I missed out on 2 donations. Even my 1st for 2019 was late May. Couldn't possible fit in 2 more sessions in between.. . As usual:- nowadays I played safe by asking to do Hb test first before Medical Screening by Medical Officer; to ensure my iron level was within revised level of 13g/dL required of Male Donors. Luckily it's at 14.2g/dL- Phewww... . During donation preparation cleansing of cannulation site; nurse handed a box of iron tablets saying my level is on point but gotta go up more for future Donations. next Donation will be FEB 2020. . 40th Donation. I played safe by asking to do Hb test first before Medical Screening by Medical Officer; to ensure my iron level was within the level. . 1 of the nurse, Nyo Nyo Tun; came to Registration counter and immediately joked, "How much your level today?" Coz she knows sometimes I'm not able to proceed with donation coz of low Hb levels.. i answered, " Not sure. Register 1st then I'll do blood test before Medical screen by Doctor". She laughed and said must be positive.. Luckily it's at 14.1g/dL.. . I went to Donation Lounge:- She saw me and again teased, " Aahh.. today don't need U-turn go back. What you do that iron enough?" I said today over the required coz I'm at 14.1g/dL - 10points above 13g/dL required for Male donors. 😁😁😁. . During donation preparation cleansing of cannulation site; nurse handed a box of iron tablets saying my level is on point but gotta go up more for future Donations. . After donation as usual I'd ask for squeeze ball so I can scribe the date at back of it. And since its leading up to Singapore 54th Birthday:- donors are given Ez-Link cards. Yay!! As for me:- I played safe by asking to do Hb test first before Medical Screening by Medical Officer; to ensure my iron level was within revised level of 13g/dL required of Male Donors. Luckily it's at 15.5g/dL- of course lah since my last donation was November2018.. So it shouldn't be an issue coz had 6months break. . This morning i had gone up to Woodlands' bank:- totally forgotten that it closes every Tuesday. So i had to make my way to town after checking that DG bank is open. .
