Strike: The Helmet Project

I called into London’s best known cycle cafe, Look Mum No Hands in Old Street, for lunch not knowing that this fabulous project was on display. Some of the UK’s prominent and underground ‘creatives’ have been invited to decorate the same canvas - a bike helmet - to raise awareness about head trauma, cycle safety and the importance of wearing a helmet.

The display features artwork from by 25 contributors including Grayson Perry (his helmet was in a Perspex case). Whatever your thoughts on cycle helmet wearing this display is well worth a visit. Catch it at Look Mum No Hands until 7 September. Helmets are up for auction and can be bid on at galabid.com/auction/strike. As one would expect, Grayson Perry’s helmet is commanding the best bids by a long way.
