My entry for the @hellyeahbottombucky​  Valentine's Exchange, written for @donbeavers​ ! This is part of a series but can be read by itself and still be followed. There are references to parts 1 and 2, but I hope they're explained well enough in context that you'll be ok. Also, those of you reading along, will note that I have re-ordered the series, because this story takes place between Emotional Support Penis and Lightning Strikes Twice.

Summary:

Steve buys Bucky a special present for Valentine's Day and gets more than he anticipated in return ;)

“Hey, sweetheart, here you—Bucky, why are you sitting on the pillow?" Steve stops dead as he steps into the room. Bucky has opened up the nest, pulling back the curtains that he likes to keep closed to help concentrate their scents while they’re in there—another clear sign of the approaching end of his heat. In the middle of the nest, he’s placed the new donut pillow, and is sitting atop it, wearing nothing but one of Steve’s t-shirts. Bucky shrugs a shoulder as he holds a hand out for his food. "It's comfy. And a pretty efficient and effective way to scent it for you. I figured you might want my heat scent more than my regular one.” “A way to… What?” “I thought… Steve, you bought me a round pillow with an opening in the middle that looks just like an asshole. I have a penis-shaped pillow that I make you scent regularly for me to snuggle when you're on a mission without me. Was that not what you wanted me to do with this?”

Model Bucky & Single Parent Steve

The alarm has sounded right on the day that has been marked and he has been waiting for since the turn of the year.

He had lied to Nat and Sam by saying that he left for the day because of family matters. Meanwhile all he did that day was to go to the flower shop and the chocolate shop with his son to buy the gifts he wanted to give his new boyfriend

Then while on his way to the studio where Bucky was doing an interview, his son named Pilot asked him "Dad, are all these gifts for uncle Bucky?"

Steve replied "yes, all this for your second dad" while smiling

Steve thinks what he said to Nat and Sam shouldn't be a lie

Steve watches as Bucky swims around in their pool. He looks absolutely stunning with his long flowing hair and his shimmery blue tail. His defined abs are certainly gorgeous too. Steve will always be in awe of him, no matter how much time passes. Bucky is beautiful and wonderful and Steve is the luckiest man in the universe.

He and Bucky met five years ago when Steve was walking on a beach in Florida after a particularly bad mission. He was just trying to clear his head when he spotted something in the distance that caught his eye and walked over to investigate. He’s so glad he did. Because what he saw was not a thing at all. No. It was Bucky resting on a rock by the water, his long hair wet and his tail illuminated by the afternoon sun. Bucky was the first merman Steve ever met and - even though Steve has met many of Bucky’s people since - the most gorgeous one.

After the first day they met, Steve kept coming back to the beach. It wasn’t long before he and Bucky had completely fallen in love and Steve bought a house in the sunshine state.

“Do you want to join me, Steve?” Bucky calls out from the pool.

“Sure,” Steve smiles, already pulling off his clothes.

He climbs into the pool and swims up to Bucky.

“Hi,” Bucky says.

“Hi, sweetheart,” Steve replies and kisses Bucky. “Water’s good today, isn’t it?”

“It is,” Bucky says. Steve wraps his arms around Bucky. “And this is even better,” Bucky adds, burying his face in Steve’s neck.

Yes, Steve thinks, having Bucky in his arms is always perfect.
