Maybe Meant To Be

It could've been fate that brought the one known as The Demon, Kasuna Hatake, to one of the biggest companies in terms of security clientele in Japan. He was there just to escort an important CEO to a meeting in greater Tokyo. He cracked his neck as he stood in front of his sleek car. He fixed his suit, something he didn't want to wear but was told he needed to. He didn't know what to expect, maybe a stuck up old Japanese dude stuck in his ways, but all he knew was he didn't want to really do this.

He looked up at the massive building as the sun beat down on him, cursing the Japanese summer. He surveyed the whole scene making sure everything was safe. He had a feeling that if he was being put to be an escort, something was up. His eyes were peeled, as were his ears. He heard something about the CEO was on their way down and straightened himself again.

"Bitte," the vampire pulled his hood back to allow Kriemhild a good enough view of him through the gap in the door. His face was weatherbeaten. Remarkably young and exceptionally old at the same time. Fresh scratches met ancient scars on a canvas mostly obscured by a raggedy beard and long hair falling in front of olive coloured eyes.

His gaze briefly wandered up the street eastward, the red of the morning sun was quickly creeping over the horizon. It made him shudder and pull the hood deep into his face again.

"Let me in, bitte," the vampire pleaded, "I will find a way to repay you. But please. Do not condemn me to burn in the light of the sun."

Demon Caught The Cat

Charles had gotten wind of Magneto and his men going after a new set of politicians who were looking to pass a Mutant Act and sent out members of the X Men to stop his actions; chief among them, Codename The Demon, Kasuna Hatake. He was hoping to come across a certain mutant in this.

He had his own rival among them, a one Snow Leopard, Dulcie Black. He had made it his personal mission to antagonize and fight her. But there was also an underlying feeling of respect for her as well. She met him blow for blow.

(technically this was meant to go before the Abbey with all the other ghoul stuff but I still hadn't entirely fleshed this out but I was excited and wanted to keep my momentum going so apologies for technically out of order lore)

The Pit

Hidden within the lowest ring of Hell, The Pit is the crucible from which ghouls are forged — not created, but unearthed. It is where instinct rules, where there is no time, no language, and no thought beyond survival. All ghouls begin here.

Atmosphere and Terrain

Perpetually dark, lit only by bursts of glowing magma or the glimmer of exposed hellstone.

A landscape of jagged black rock, chasm-thin rivers of fire, steaming vents, and deep burrows dug by the ghouls themselves.

The air is thick, like syrup — and full of heat, growls, shrieks, and the constant pulse of footfalls, claws, and teeth.

There is no sky. Just weight, pressing downward.

Behaviour in the Pit

All ghouls in the Pit exist in a state of feral chaos. There are only two drives:

Fighting — to establish dominance, defend territory, or just because another ghoul looked wrong.

Fucking — driven by instinct and need, no emotional connection, no words.

These interactions leave ghouls:

Bruised

Scarred

Often missing pieces (Phantom’s horn is a classic example — it was snapped off during a dominance fight hours before his summoning).

Mating in the Pit does not result in pregnancy — the magic of Hell prevents it until they are brought topside and stabilised.

Hierarchy and Packless Nature

There are no packs in the Pit. No mates. No names. Ghouls here are unnamed, faceless, unspoken. If one dies (rare), another simply takes their place — like a fire spitting up another spark.

They are entirely mindless, until summoned — at which point they must spend up to a year adjusting to:

Language

Sentience

Social norms

Restraining the fight-or-fuck reflex

This is why ghouls are considered dangerous early on. It's also why Papa’s involvement is crucial — his energy helps shape their mental form and give them structure.

The Summoning Pull

When a summoning is performed topside, the Pit reacts. The ground splits and glows, and a hand of Hell reaches down to randomly seize one ghoul. There is no choice — even those mid-fight or mid-sex are taken. They’re dragged from chaos to a quiet room, naked, blinking, stunned.

Imagine:

One second, they're biting through someone’s neck.

The next, they’re on a cold Abbey floor, surrounded by candles and a robed man chanting.

Recovery and Relearning

The first year after summoning is sacred. It’s called the Reforging Year, and it includes:

Learning language (their own infernal tongue + Latin + English/Swedish depending on need)

Learning restraint

Choosing a name

Discovering gender and identity (ghouls do not know their gender in the Pit — they feel it upon surfacing)
