reading through the wiki, apparently that hilda's world book mentioned that victoria van gale once got struck by lightning and was "never the same" since then. WHAT??? what does that mean?? they can't just drop a bombshell of a backstory detail and leave it just as crumbs. requesting anyone with tie-ins to find out more about this crazy woman lol.

wait how did that happen... was that part of the deal victoria made with the entity?? looking back, the conditions of the deal were very blurry apart from "it saved johanna and astrid yahoo."

if yes, then she really knows how to hustle, even with an ancient powerful fairy entity. or maybe she fucked around with old magic or fairy magic. either way, both are plausible because victoria is just that type of person.

Is the Bellkeeper part-fairy then? He also has blue streaks of hair. It makes sense that Phinium and Lydia aren't the only ones, and that there's actually a lot of fairy/human relationships that lead to half-fairy offspring.

If this is the case, then I wonder if he is slated to return to Fairy Country like Johanna was. Johanna's sickness could be a unique complication for half-fairies, maybe the two species aren't compatible after all and that's why she became sick. Maybe this was the inevitable fate for most half-fairies, which means that their parents would also trade their own lives for their children. It's a pretty freaky way to bring more people to Fairy Country and make them stay there. Maybe the Bellkeeper also experienced a similar case?

OK, that's a lot of "maybe's" and speculation, but it's an interesting thought, right?

Wanna make a fanfic about her. Haven't thought much yet, but it takes place between Hilda and the Mountain King and the timeskip/Season 3. She also stays as a Safety Patrol volunteer in order to help rebuild the damage caused by Amma's stirring.

Gerda Gustav was once again placed in temporary command over all of Safety Patrol; she has been for days now, and no one knows what happened to Erik Ahlberg.

Several trolls have been helping to clear the debris left by Trundle’s attack on the wall; others have been friendly with the people near the wall. Because of these acts of kindness, the city has decided to suspend the anti-troll measures for now, which means that trolls can come and go as they please. This has sparked some protests and riots among anti-troll citizens, already burdening the Safety Patrol with rebuilding.

But there's something more pressing than that. Amma has been shaking the ground briefly at random intervals. Aftershock after aftershock—no one can predict when the next one will strike as efforts to rebuild get setback every time. Someone or something must be behind these tremors.

Hint: kinda?

After uncovering suspicious evidence (and a talk with her son David), Erika is the first one to suspect that Erik Ahlberg is involved.

Is she right? Did Erik forget his lesson learnt? Did the descendant of Edmund Ahlberg try to anger Amma again and again—maybe to create a crisis where he can play the hero?

But it doesn’t matter, because Erika is determined to expose his wrongdoings. However, in her adventures, she discovers that there is more to this story than she expected…

Oh ho, Victoria Van Gale definitely has the vantablack eyebags. Like, seriously? Girl loves drinking coffee and her laboratory is more chaotic than Frida’s room ever will be. Do you think she has a regular sleep schedule with THAT? Not to mention that her inventions require severe mental AND physical strain in order to work. All that stress every time there's a mishap in one of her experiments and inventions. No wonder she's so crazy.

Does she even have a bedroom? She probably just falls asleep on her workplace, with her face sideways and drooling on her paperwork, as she works on another atrocity against magical creatures.

so like if victoria van gale got to the fairy isles because of a nowhere space breach, does that mean that nowhere space is pan-dimensional like the faratok tree? or did victoria really did just create an interdimensional travel device back in the windmill episode?

if it's the latter, then i don't think it's by intentional design since she only wanted to access nowhere space. probably just a consequence from her machine going haywire.

speaking of interdimensional travel... i saw the reblogs on my prev victoria posts and, YES YOU ARE SO RIGHT. victoria would definitely use those abduction crystals as portals to other dimensions. she already manage to teleport across the fairy isles with it AND send radio broadcasts to the overworld, what's stopping her from going beyond that?? kinda funny how she went from weather broadcasts to ripping through the space-time continuum across universes. lol i mean what more can you expect from the mad scientist of trolberg herself?

Here's how Hilda/Johanna and Phinium/Lydia can still talk to each other!

With the last fairy mound dissolved, how is this possible?

It begins with the watchtower crystals.

They allow the users to glimpse into the human world and observe specific individuals. They appear as silhoutted shadows to the targets. The observers can be seen, as shown in the ending.

Now, Victoria Van Gale has used these crystals in order to send out radio broadcasts back home. It's how Hilda knew about her father's stowaway state in the first place. Victoria has decided to stay in Fairy Country and there's no doubt she'll interact and get friendly with the locals, and that could include Phinium and Lydia.

See where I'm going with this?

Imagine...

Hilda remembered her promise to listen for Victoria Van Gale on the radio. As she set up the radio and listened, she heard about Van Gale's efforts to fix Fairy Country (and weather reports, of course). She thought, it was nice to do this without cracking ciphers for her disappeared dad or something.

One day, Phinium and Lydia used the crystals to check on their grandchild, and they saw her listening to Victoria's broadcasts. Getting an idea, they approached the former mad scientist and asked for a "special segment."

Hilda was sitting by the radio again when she heard a message.

"Before I sign off, a special shoutout to a dedicated listener: Hilda! If you're listening, as I know you are, I've been asked to invite YOU and your family to inspect your room for peculiar shadows. Your grandparents have a message for you."

Hilda turned on the lights and saw her grandparents' shadows. Overjoyed, she brought Johanna over and didn't give much context (it's a surprise!). As Johanna sat confused, they hovered by the radio as one final dialogue from Victoria came out before they'd hear very familiar voices:

"Thanks to these watchtower crystals, we can hear your replies—it's like a phone call! I'll see myself out, as I pass this over to Phinium and Lydia!"

The radio crackled as Hilda and Johanna looked at the shadows of their family that came before them, while Phiniun and Lydia looked at the illuminations of their family that came after.

You can imagine the conversation that transpired :)

OK Y'ALL, read through the replies and reblogs and... yeah this is the most likely scenario. omfg. ahahaha, i was hyping up victoria van gale's morally questionable and logic-defying antics when in actuality... this scene sheds some light to the nice side of this mad scientist.

ever since victoria "built" that nisse, despite having the sole purpose of being an assistant for her, she treated it affably with kindness. even as a skull, she praises it for good work and even cleans up after them.

she's a gepetto to her pinnochio, if you will. makes sense that the fairy isle turned the artificial nisse into an actual one. do you think her nisse saw itself as a real boy too?
