#heiji and shininichi shippers were actually quite chill and just offering an alternative if people were no longer comfortable with the ship

I have nothing against expanding a character's depth in fanon but I hate the elitist attitudes people can have when their favourites aren't popular.
"Oh why is *insert popular character who has a lot of lore* so popular in fandom, obviously *insert side character the author barely touches but they have a decent design that people like* is so much better!"
Or "why does everyone like this popular ship *between two developed characters* when my less popular one *that involves the much less developed character* is soooo much better."
Urgh, I hate it. And I'll be honest it drives me away from both the character and the ship faster than you can say their name.
#fandom#again thinking about hakuba#because there were two responses I saw in fandom#when the kaishin cousins thing happened#heiji and shininichi shippers were actually quite chill and just offering an alternative if people were no longer comfortable with the ship#there were a few obnoxious people but they were the minority#every hakuba and kaito shipper I saw were just gloating and talking shit about kaishin#and now the ship which I was just neutral towards is now a massive turn off that I had to mute everywhere#so well done for that!
