Oh God
TimeTraveler!Son x Haikyuu!! Part 2
a/n: hehe i wouldnt put ‘x haikyuu’ if manager y/n ends up with that certain character. youll just have to,,,, wait for the end 😏
he didnt want to lie but he had to so he could survive
hinata offered his hand to help him up and natsu winced at the scratches and the slight headache as he stood on his two feet
‘you okay?’
hinata asked and natsu nodded
‘yea, just a headache’
natsu tried to play it off as cooly as he could bc this must’ve been from the car hit before and he couldnt just say he got ran over by a damn car
‘where do you live? i can go and treat your wounds there’
natsu was about to respond but he remembers hes not in tokyo anymore and he cant just spout out his address
so he did the thing his mom told him to do whenever it was necessary
he lied
‘i-um,,,’
he fumbled for an excuse but he sighed to maintain the act
‘i got kicked out’
he mumbled and hinata had to make him repeat it twice because he said it so quietly
the tangerine boy gasped and held his arms
‘what?! why?!’
natsu sniffled
‘my dad,,,, he just,,, doesnt want me’
well, that was actually true
so a true statement could equal that lie, right?
thankfully, hinata bought it and he grabbed his arm to walk forward while his other was pushing his bike
‘i hit you with my bike so the least i could do is take you to my house and treat you!’
and that was what they did
natsu’s phone was dead even though he was sure he charged it from denki’s powerbank during practice but it remained its black screen no matter how many times he hit the power button
his surroundings was also something unfamiliar
his mother only kept him in tokyo and never took him to go visit her family because she was kicked out and had to go live with her auntie when she found out about him and his father refused to help her
‘so, sendai, huh?’
he mumbled and hinata looked at him confused
‘sounds like youre not from around here. where you from?’
‘t-tokyo’
he replied and saw hinata’s eyes brighten
‘oh?! you look like youre my age so you must have been in a high school in tokyo, right? what school?’
‘yuuei’
‘hah?! yuuei?! what is that?!’
natsu rolled his eyes and shrugged
‘a school’
hinata persisted though
‘do you know other schools?! any other school friends?! like nekoma?! or fukurodani?!’
natsu shook his head and he was supposed to be happy that he got to meet, even talk, to his idol yet his younger self was much more hyper than his mellowed out behavior on tv
‘i stick to my friends from yuuei’
‘but what are you doing all the way here?’
natsu’s throat dried up and he watched his feet kick the pebbles to distract him of his urge to just whine and throw a tantrum with the confusion from this mess
‘i dont know’
he choked out and he was so tired and confused and all he wants to do is cry in his mother’s arms like he used to but she doesnt even know he exists
hinata sensed the tension and sadness from the boy beside him and tried his best to stay quiet until they get home
to say his mom was angry was an understatement
‘SHOYO, DONT YOU KNOW TO WATCH WHERE YOURE GOING?!’
‘kaa-san i was so angry and bakageyama was yelling at me and hit me and-’
‘THAT DOESNT GIVE YOU AN EXCUSE TO RUN SOMEONE OVER!’
natsu sat there on their couch awkwardly watching the black-haired woman yell at the human tangerine
he coughed in impulse and she turned away from her son and went to sit next to the h/c boy
‘dear, im so sorry for my son and his terrible biking. i didnt catch your name when you entered, what is it?’
even hinata forgot to ask his name but thats such a hinata thing to do though
natsu froze
if he was to say his mother’s last name, it would raise suspicion that he might know her in this time period and izuku has shown him enough doctor who to show him what happens when he messes up in time
again, he lied
‘kiri,,,shima,,, natsu. kirishima natsu’
he inwardly apologized to eijirou for using his last name
mrs. hinata raised a hand to her mouth with a surprised gasp
‘oh! my daughter’s name is also natsu! natsu, dear! can you come here for a second?’
natsu heard soft sounds from the stairs and she shyly walked down
‘come say hi’
she softly urged her daughter to come closer and the little girl ran to hide behind her older brother who gently smiled and held her hand
‘well, thats her. she just turned 10 a few days ago. look dear, kirishima-kun has the same name as you!’
she waved slightly and natsu felt his heart swell at the sight of the adorable little girl
his mother never really had time for relationships so he was an only child and never got to experience a sibling, only hearing the experience of having siblings from his friend, shouto
mrs. hinata placed a gentle hand on his arm to revert his attention back to her
‘shoyo told me what happened and im sorry that this is all happening to you’
he felt guilty at the sight of her sad eyes because this was all a lie but he knew if he told them the real reason, they wouldnt believe him
so he had to continue with the lie
‘everything was falling apart and i wanted to leave everything behind. so i just took the shinkansen to nowhere and ended up here’
mrs. hinata felt her heart tug because he was just a little boy and he was too young to experience this so she offered him something he shouldnt have agreed to but again, survival
‘you can stay with us in the mean time. our guest room has been collecting dust so you can live here’
‘what? no! i can’t!’
natsu instinctually turned it down because he hated people giving him charity
but the woman squeezed his arm to give him a smile
‘i will not allow a child to live in the streets because of something he couldnt help’
‘arent you worried youre inviting a total stranger in your home?’
but she gave him a knowing smile
‘im a mother. i can trust you, boy’
in exchange for board and food, he promised to get a part time job so he could pay her back and get out of their house as quickly as he could
shoyo led him to the bathroom upstairs so he could treat the wounds from the ground
natsu sat on the closed toilet seat while his literal idol was putting cream on his boo-boos
he still cant wrap his head with everything
maybe it was because he was so busy trying to come up with lies that he wasnt able to fully sit down and think about the fact that he just TRAVELED BACK IN TIME and could accidentally change it
‘shoyo, what year is it?’
he mumbled
‘2012′
he answered and natsu sighed but his head perked up
oh god
2012
thats a year away from 2013
the year he was born
that meant shoyo’s team manager was going to give birth to him next year
‘why? did you hit your head so far that you forgot?’
hinata joked but he paled when natsu didnt laugh
‘OH GOD DID YOU?!’
‘NO! AND STOP YELLING!’
natsu shouted, equally surprised
‘whew, thank god. again, im so sorry i hit you’
‘shoyo, dont worry about it, okay? im fine, i swear’
during dinner, mrs. hinata told him about his school situation
‘you can go to karasuno with shoyo. what year were you in?’
‘first’
‘perfect! shoyo is too so he could easily help you around the school!’
natsu nodded quietly, still out of it and his brain finally starting to accept this impossible reality
‘but i dont think i could help you with the entrance exams. im not the most-um-smartest, per se’
shoyo apologized but natsu already knew that
he was no extreme fanatic but he knew quite a lot about hinata shoyo, the player he watched during the 2021 olympics and the reason he started playing volleyball
natsu dreamed to join the msby jackals just like his idol did and eventually reach the national team like hinata did
it was during the olympics of 2021, he knew he wanted to be like him
this boy who sat next to him was the reason he came to love volleyball along with his other idol, oikawa tooru, from the argentina volleyball team after seeing that legendary match
when oikawa hit that service ace, natsu wanted to be able to receive that
he was merely 8 and his neighbor, midoriya inko, was babysitting him and she placed him and her son who was his friend, izuku, in front of the tv where they watched the olympics match
‘someday, ill be someone great. ill be great like him’
he promised and from then on, he worked to achieve that goal
‘natsu? hello?’
he was shaken from his thoughts as shoyo nudged him back to reality
mrs. hinata laughed
‘maybe you should head to bed early, dear. you must be tired after having a hard journey’
he nodded and was about to go and wash his dishes when she stopped him
‘no. go and sleep, ill take care of this’
‘i have to do my part in here, hinata-san. please, let me do this’
she finally agreed and he was scrubbing the plates when his mind wandered over to possible solutions on how he could go back
there was an episode that he watched with izuku that the character had to do something to go back
and he had a feeling that he would have to do the same thing
but what would that something be?
there had to be a reason he was thrown all the way in this time and it couldnt just be a coincidence that supposedly, this would be around the same time his mother would get pregnant
but who would it be?
he finished putting the plates on the drying rack and he felt really thirsty suddenly
opening the fridge, he found no water bottles and natsu had a very sensitive stomach so he couldnt drink tap water
his next favorite beverage was there and he pulled a glass from the cabinet
‘hinata-san, is it okay if i can have some milk?’
he called out and she shouted that it was okay
natsu poured the drink on his glass and started drinking it when hinata entered the kitchen and snickered at him
‘yknow, you remind me of my idiot teammate. none of my other friends drink straight milk except for him’
natsu placed the glass down and wiped his lips
‘chocolate milk make me sick and i hate the taste of flavoring in milk. but i just hate flavoring in general. except for gari gari popsicles, those are good’
natsu reasoned, watching hinata move across the room to get an apple
‘still ew. but come on! lets go to bed so i can show you around school early before practice tomorrow!’
natsu noticed his excitement by the way he bounced in place and he chuckled
it reminded him of his friends mina and denki
hinata led them both to his room so he could check his wounds again just to make sure
then something caught his eye
‘kirishima-kun you like volleyball?!’
that threw him off
partly because he wasnt used to being called by his friend’s last name
but also because of the question
‘huh? how do you know that?’
natsu asked, almost defensively
hinata shrugged
‘i saw your volleyball shoes in your bag’
hinata reasoned and excitedly pointed at them
‘you should play for us! im part of the team too! oh oh! what position do you play?!’
‘l-libero’
natsu stuttered out, slightly overwhelmed by hinata’s energy
hinata started circling him, inspecting his height and looking at him up and down
‘yanno, kirishima-kun, youre really tall. like much taller than the rest of my club. maybe not saltyshima but really!! youre so tall!!’
hinata whined in envy and natsu laughed
‘blame it on the paternal side of the family. my ma isnt really tall’
he laughs but then memories of his mother resurfaced and he suddenly felt gloomy, guilty, even, bc he doesnt know if time stopped there or it kept going and if so, shes probably worried sick
and he knew she was always one who blamed herself
hinata noticed his downcast expression and thought he probably remembers his dad and got sad since he got kicked out
so our baby sunshine freaked out and he frantically waved his hands around
‘oh no! gomen kiri-kun! gomen! i really didnt mean to make you think about him! gomen!!!’
he even bowed which surprised the h/c boy and made him stand back up
‘o-oi shoyo! dont! you didnt because i wasnt thinking about him!’
he fussed and patted hinata’s hair
‘i dont care about him. to be honest, there isnt much to think about’
he didnt think about what he said until he heard himself
natsu’s eyes widened, fearful of how hinata could take it but he flinched when the orange-haired boy’s eyes were filled with his own tears
‘OH NO!! KIRI-KUN!!!’
then launched another series of apologies and natsu had to calm him down
oh dear
it was early in the morning like 5 when hinata bursted into natsu’s room
the loud shout of shoyo made his eyes blink open and he groaned before turning to the side
‘come on, kiri-kun! we need to go to take your exam!’
‘nooooooooo’
‘yeeessssssss’
it was quite a battle for hinata to even just get natsu out of bed but he managed to bribe the latter with some milk bread from the bakery down the street
‘2′
natsu showed his two fingers and hinata sighed before nodding
‘yes. now go hurry so we can leave!’
dressed in his grey sweatpants and a yuuei sweatshirt, natsu cursed as he only has clothes good for 2 days and he didnt want to bother the hinatas so he was at a loss
mrs hinata bid the two boys good bye and natsu was yawning and dragging his body to walk while hinata was skipping over to his bike
then he finally realized the problem
he nervously looked at natsu and the taller boy didnt understand why he was looking at him that way
‘what?’
shoyo pointed at the bike and awkwardly smiled
‘uh,,, you see,,, i dont think youd,,, fit,,, at the back seat’
natsu shrugged
‘then ill bike. ive done it before’
he sauntered over to the bike and swiftly lifted his leg before testing out the brake handles
‘its good and better than mine back home’
‘a-are you-’
‘sit down, sho’
hinata gripped on to the back of natsu’s sweatshirt as he told him the directions to how to get to the school
natsu remembered watching an interview of hinata talking about his high-school life and he remembered the star player talking about his dedication to go to karasuno everyday for volleyball
and the boy couldn’t believe hes doing that right now, with his idol literally behind him, and driving to the legendary karasuno high school
from the jackals to the adlers and even some other teams like the frogs, natsu cheered for them
there was a memory of his mother sitting with him on their couch during one of her rare day offs as they rewatched the recorded copy of the olympics
it has become natsu’s favorite thing to watch
‘with great talent comes great hardships. people don’t become good overnight and i watched those people suffer through it all but look where they are now’
‘KIRISHIMA, WATCH OUT! COWS CROSSING!’
natsu was snapped out of his thoughts at hinata’s shout
then it morphed into pure and utter confusion
‘cows?’
shoyo laughed
‘since youre from the city, this must be a weird sight for you, huh? well, in the countryside, this happens a lot!’
but natsu didnt mind
in fact, he loved cows
he loved any farm animal in general
maybe it was his upbringing in the hustle and bustle of the city that he grew to love the countryside
shoto took him with his family to a trip to the country once and he remembered loving the smell of grass
they were able to do an activity in a farm where they worked in a rice farm and the peace and serenity was something he will always remember
his mother was lucky she grew up in a place like this
‘kiri-kun, ive been wanting to ask, how is your volleyball team in the city? are you a powerhouse?’
natsu felt pride bubble up in his chest
‘of course! we got second place in nationals!’
he boasted and blurted out before he could stop himself
then he felt fear
he shouldnt have said that because for all he knows, yuuei probably doesn’t exist at this time period
hinata had a different reaction and his eyes shone
‘WHAT?! WOAH! SO COOL! I HAVE TO TELL OUR CAPTAIN THAT WE’RE GETTING A POWERHOUSE STUDENT!’
‘uh-i-uh-’
natsu didnt know what to say because he had a feeling he definitely just did an oopsie
so he switched topics really quick to divert the attention away from his past
‘o-oi sho, once youre done being a pro volleyball player and stuff, we should have our own rice farm’
of course it was such a random idea but it distracted the orange boy
hinata shrugged
‘i mean,,, i have to be a pro first but i guess we can!’
‘hmm,,,, i dont think you have to worry about that’

Exo Reaction ~ You Saving Them Pt. 2
Admin Eva: As stated in Part 1, I do not take credit for writing this reaction. A very good friend of mine helped me in a huge way by writing this reaction. I also want to state that this blog does NOT own any of the gifs used unless stated otherwise. Once again this reaction does have a part for Jongdae, however as stated before this is the last romantically inclined reaction that will be on this blog. I will still write sibling requests or just general exo requests, but none will have Jongdae and a romantic interest. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding~!
Jongdae
Jongdae was intensely focusing on his battle with Chanyeol, if anyone was winning, it was him and not that stupid flamehead. He charged up several lightning bolts and threw them at Chanyeol like spears while he tried dodging all the fireballs being thrown his way. The two hit each other and caused a big explosion, throwing both men miles apart. You sensed something was wrong and immediately went to Jongdae's location. When you saw him, he was lying motionless on the ground, bleeding profusely from what looked like deep cuts and ash? Being a healer, you focused all your energy on sealing up his wounds and helping his body repair itself. You sat back and looked at Jongdae disappointedly after you finished healing him.
“I know your awake Jongdae.” The said man opened one eye to glance at you before closing it straight away, hoping you didn’t catch that. “You know, I keep telling you that it's not smart to battle Chanyeol when you and him have destructive powers. Now I’m going to have to report to Suho and ah ah don’t say anything, you brought this upon yourself Kim Jongdae.” Despite his whining, he knew what he did was dangerous… he just didn’t want to have to listen to both you and Suho lecturing him at the same time, but for sure he was dragging Chanyeol with him whether he got caught or not.
Chanyeol
As the lightning spears barely scraped by Chanyeol, he added more heat to his flames, causing the fireballs he threw to be a blue color. He wasn’t looking when his flame hit Jongdae’s spear and blew up, sending him into the air along with Jongdae before they both smacked into the ground. Chanyeol called out to you because you would be able to hear his voice no matter how quiet or far away you were. Your body appears as if the wind carried each particle and built you back in front of Chanyeol. You rush down to his body and start inspecting all the burns. With a quick sorry, you pushed your powers into Chanyeol as he bit down on a piece of cloth.
The winds felt like it was cutting up his body internally, but your powers of wind were fueling his powers of fire, causing his body to regenerate quicker. Like magic, the existing burns from Jongdaes thunder looked like they were being erased in front of your eyes. With one last force, you fell on him and laid there to rest. Chanyeol could hear Jongdae’s girlfriend nagging him about being reckless and here he was just hoping you’d forget this after you wake up so he wouldn’t have to listen to your lecture about “being safe” and “taking precaution”. With a little kiss on the nose, he smiled softly. “Don’t think you're getting away with this, I’m just too tired right now, but you already know Suho’s hearing about this.” And just like that, his smile was gone and he was back to worrying how he’d deal with you and Suho for the nth time.
Kyungsoo
“Find him! Don’t let him get away!” Kyungsoo had been on the run ever since he stole that guy's wallet, and boy did he regret it. The polished black leather wallet had looked too expensive but expensive was good, expensive meant money and that meant he could eat for the week, a month maybe if he was extremely lucky. Turn out the amount of cash in this wallet would be enough to feed him a whole year, that’s discarding all the cards because a smart person would just suspend it or track him down. Speaking of, he was currently being tracked down right now, but instead of the police sirens, he was hearing gunshots and yelling.
Kyungsoo ran and ran until he couldn’t anymore. He had once prided in his ability to run fast, a thief who couldn't was a dead thief anyways. Today proved him wrong, that the people he outran before were normal people, those who were easy to escape from. Today he was being chased by those who seemed serious in getting this wallet back. He found a hole that looked his size and crawled in. He didn’t expect to see someone already sitting in this small space. The girl in front of him starred unblinkingly as she ate what looked like a small piece of stale bread. “Hi!” You exclaimed at the owlish boy. Kyungsoo backed away in fright only to hit the metal scraps that served as a wall to your home. “Oh.. sorry, umm..” You took in his appearance and grabbed the wallet once you saw it. Opening it up, you saw a familiar face, not that you personally knew the guy, just that he was well known around these streets. “Oh boy! Did you steal this from Mr. Mouse? That's a bad idea you know! He goes bang bang when he’s upset..” Kyungsoo snatched the wallet back from you as he squinted at your speech. “I think that bread you're eating is causing you to go crazy.” He took the piece of bread from you, only to realize it was a dried piece of chicken. He suddenly dropped it out of shock while you scrambled to pick it up again. “That's my dinner! How rude!! No wonder you’ll go bang bang in 13 minutes! 15 if you’re lucky!!”
Kyungsoo was too busy wondering how a piece of chicken could be as dry and crusted like stale bread. He even wondered if it was safe to consume, “wait, 13 minutes? 15? How do you know?” The numbers seemed too accurate unless she was truly crazy... “Mr. Mouse has a clock! 30 minutes or bang! The lizard finishes in 10 minutes but he’s away today. The next fastest is the little deer! He doesn’t like to be called that though~” You giggled at the thought of a mad deer. “And.. the deer finishes in 10 to 15 minutes?…” He wasn’t sure what you meant by Mr. Mouse, the lizard and or the deer, but he assumed they were code names made by your loopy mind. “Bingo!~ Hehe~” You tried taking another bite of the chicken when it was suddenly taken away again. “Hey!!”, “Show me the way out of this city and I’ll buy you better food.”
Kyungsoo soon found out that you were incredibly smart, just that your mind stored information in a very simple way. After he safely got away, he offered you to come with him with the promise of better food and living conditions. You guys would still be on the streets sometimes but it was never as bad as that metal shelter, especially now that you had someone to keep you company, one that didn’t think you were completely insane.
Zitao
Gunshots were being heard throughout the building and Tao didn’t know where to go. He just kept running until you pulled his arm and dragged him in the opposite direction. “Are you crazy? The exits this way!” You whispered as loudly as you could afford to. Working in a bank was definitely boring for you, but that didn’t mean you wanted robbers coming into ‘spice’ up your day. You guess this guy was new as he didn’t have the exit routes memorized yet nor did he seem to understand that you don’t run towards the sound of gunshots. Opening the exit doors to the stairs, you warned him to follow you as quickly and quietly as he could. For some reason, Tao managed to stay pretty quiet, with the occasional scream, but he remembered right after and covered his own mouth to prevent the robbers from finding them.
After what felt like too long, both of you got out and together you ran to the nearest cafe before calling the cops to let them know the updated situation. “Th-thanks” You had forgotten about the guy for a brief moment but waved that it was no big deal. He hadn’t gotten you more in danger and it just seemed right, rather than letting him run around the building like a headless chicken. “Let me buy you a coffee!” Tao quickly went to the counter and order two things he felt would taste good. He tried to calm his racing heart down but he wasn’t sure if it was due to the adrenaline or if it was because of you. That day on, Tao would always stick close to you when he can and you soon found out this guy had a lot of fears. But it was cute, that and afterwards he always bought you something to eat or drink when he got scared.. and when he simply wanted to.
Jongin
You jumped into the ocean after waiting what felt like forever for Jongin to pop up. You guys had gone cliff diving with friends and while you all had done it numerous times, you felt uneasy when Jongin wasn’t surfacing. The others assured you, he was probably just playing a joke, but you thought differently. Jongin wouldn’t scare you like this, this was too long to be a simple joke, so here you were swimming in the warm ocean trying to find your boyfriend. You rose multiple times to take a deep breath before swimming down again. Your friends saw how panicked you looked and jumped down to help you search for Jongin too.
He had jumped down into the warm water and man did it feel great. His friends had already known he would pull a prank at one point. So when he entered the water for the fifth time that hour, he held his breath for as long as he could. A few minutes passed by and he was starting to feel uncomfortable. As he tried to swim back up, he realized his foot was caught in some plastic netting and other plants that floated in the ocean. Jongin did his best to unraveled the webbing around his foot but he was starting to desperately need air. His body started to panic and he wasn’t thinking straight anymore.
You had finally found him and called your friends to come help. Everyone took a deep breath and swam down to where Jongin was. You carefully cut away the plastic and saw that it was stuck to heavy rocks, no wonder he wasn’t able to getaway. Once Jongin was free, the guys swam back up as you and the girls followed along, making sure there was nothing to get caught on around them. Back on land, you immediately performed CPR and prayed that Jongin was okay. A few seconds later he was bending over to cough up the water in his lungs. His chest and sinus stung like crazy as he was gasping for the much need air. Jongin pulled you into a tight hug once he felt a little better. He told you how thankful he was over and over, promising to never pull a prank like that again.
Sehun
Sehun had his breath knocked out of him as you tackled him to the ground. “Idiot!” You yelled at him as bullets continued to fire his way. He hadn’t realized he was getting shot at, as he was too focused on watching your back. The two of you had been partnered up together on a few missions years ago. Soon after, you both started to go on every single assignment with each other. Little did you know, Sehun had been requesting to work with you, and you did the same for him. How embarrassing it was when your boss yelled out “Finally!!” at a work party. Only then did you guys find out how silly your actions seemed when it would’ve been easier to say it face to face.
Sehun focused his attention on you to find any scratches and luckily there weren’t any. He kissed you deeply, too caught in the moment of feeling how grateful he was that you were okay. You immediately pushed him down in panic, what was he thinking? You both were in an active shooting zone and here he was kissing you? He let out a soft groan as his back hit the concrete floor, maybe he should show you how much he appreciates you once you both were safe at home.
He gave you another peck on the forehead and told you to be safe before he headed off in a new direction. Although he was always extremely grateful to have someone like you watching his back, he needed to remember that they still had a dangerous job to do. Often times you would save his life and he would save yours. Despite that, there was never a moment that either of you took it for granted, as your life was too precious to him and you cherished him.

Learning to Fly
Thanks for the lovely reviews last chapter, everyone! 37 days until Christmas (not counting at all)! If you haven't started shopping yet I suggest you do hehe. I hope you enjoy this part. Points of view will alternate as usual.
Synopsis: It's only three days until Christmas and flight attendant Caroline Forbes thought her day was going to be all candy canes, Santa Claus and carols until she meets an unusual passenger on a flight and soon realises there's more to him and the situation than she first thought. Chapter one HERE
"I'm learning to fly but I ain't got wings, coming down is the hardest thing…"
Chapter 2: So this is Christmas
Mollie Fontaine Lounge, Memphis TN – 22nd December
"Do you have some remote tracking device on me or something?" Klaus demanded, slamming his whiskey glass on the bar in frustration. He'd finally managed to break free from their over-protective clutches to enjoy some alone time and wasn't impressed to see them appear unexpectedly and ruin his evening.
"Believe me Rebekah tried but apparently it's like against the law or something," Kol drawled, signalling to the bartender for a drink.
"Not funny, idiot," she snapped, flicking her blonde hair over her shoulder and managing to whip his face in the process.
"Hey! Watch where you're throwing those coarse split ends."
"How dare you," Rebekah growled. If there was anything Rebekah prided herself on it was personal grooming. Klaus knew exactly where this was headed and figured the nearby patrons would much prefer jazz than a needless cat fight between his brother and sister.
"For the last time, I'm not some three-year-old that needs to be babysat twenty-four bloody seven," Klaus hissed. "The least you could do is leave me in peace, I think it's the least I deserve."
After landing in Memphis, Klaus had checked into his suite at the Westin then left immediately, headed towards Beale Street for some much needed live music. He'd loved jazz ever since he could walk and talk thanks to his grandfather and if he was going to be held hostage in the city by his family he might as well take advantage. Another reason had brought him there and it was to reminisce over the gorgeous, blonde flight attendant he'd come across on his flight into town. She had calmed his nerves unlike anyone else and Klaus hadn't stopped smiling since. He just wished that he'd been his usual smooth self instead of his emotionally inept flying alter ego. Klaus prided himself on his way with women and he'd failed miserably when it had come to her unfortunately.
There was no denying he was a nervous, if not completely neurotic, flyer. He'd been that way since his first family vacation to San Francisco at age eight. Given flying time was less than an hour and his dramatic reaction, his parents had been somewhat concerned. All vacations were kept closer to home after that trip, Mikael hated when his children made a scene and embarrassed him.
Every time he flew since then his mind was cluttered with 'what if' scenarios and he would find himself standing up then pacing back and forth down the aisle even during the seatbelt induced parts. It was like his body and mind were disjointed and Klaus couldn't control his actions. Given he was usually so confident in life it had thrown him and he'd vowed never to fly again until his unexpected inheritance had changed that particular promise.
"How did you find me anyway?"
"You are too predictable," Kol offered. "Come on Nik, live jazz? Do you think we're that stupid?"
"Obviously my expectations were stupidly low." What he hadn't expected were his nosy siblings tracking him down like he was some missing child who was the subject of an amber alert. He had to deal with them most of the time and craved some time away from the Mikaelson madness. Was that too much to ask?
"Nik, did you ever think maybe that we want to just hang out together?" Rebekah implored, lower lip extended for extra effect.
"You've been pulling that pathetic puppy dog look since we were kids, what on earth makes you think I would ever fall for it?"
"We're just trying to help, no need to throw it back in our faces." Klaus felt slightly bad knowing what they were trying to do but resented the fact he should need any assistance at all.
Growing up, he'd been the most outgoing, charismatic, intelligent and popular out of the siblings and bedded a new conquest pretty much every week. In fact, Klaus considered himself practically invincible until life had thrown him a curveball he'd never seen coming. He could still remember the unexpected news like it was yesterday.
It was Spring Break of junior year in College. Klaus had finished top of his graduating high school class in Los Angeles and had every Ivy League School interested but had chosen Yale. Although he wouldn't admit it aloud, Klaus wanted to put as many miles between him and his father Mikael as possible.
He'd returned home to visit his mother in Los Angeles. His siblings were spread far and wide at the time. Elijah was studying at Harvard, Kol a freshman at Princeton and Rebekah completing her final year of boarding school in Chicago. Klaus had been extremely excited for the quiet solace of an almost empty house given his raucous and tiring adventures at college. What he hadn't expected was to find his mother in such a vulnerable position on arrival.
"Your father died yesterday," his mother Esther sobbed. Klaus was immediately confused upon finding her crumpled in a heap in the family home. No one else was there, including his father who was in Phoenix for work. As much as he detested Mikael, Klaus knew that tyrant was still very much alive.
"Mum, he's fine, unfortunately."
"No, he's gone."
"I have no idea what you're talking about," he muttered in frustration, spying the empty spirit bottle and half full glass. "Did you take your back pain meds after one too many vodka martinis again?"
"I lied," she admitted sadly, her blue eyes brimming with unshed tears. Klaus was dumbstruck at first, unsure of what to say. It was obvious she'd been drinking but something in her tone was telling him she was deathly serious. "I'm so sorry, Niklaus."
"I think I should put you to bed," he said, attempting to move her towards the bedroom.
"No," she growled in defiance, pulling free from his grasp.
"Okay, if you don't want to go to bed, what exactly did you lie about then?"
"I was lonely and Mikael was…" Klaus swallowed knowing just what an ogre his father was. "And Ansel he cared about me..."
"Who is Ansel?"
"Ansel was your father." The life he once knew seemed to be unravelling in a split second. "And now he's gone," she murmured, taking a long sip from the glass.
"I don't understand, that can't be…"
"We had an affair before you were born." Klaus sat down running his hands through his dark blonde curls, unable to process what she was telling him. Was his whole life a lie? She moved towards him placing a hand on his shoulder, Klaus immediately shaking it off. The last thing he wanted right now was her of all people comforting him.
"Did Mikael know?" He managed to bite out, unable to look her in the eye. Given her betrayal all Klaus needed was the facts and not to see her cry.
"Yes," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I guess that explains why he hated me so much," he growled. Klaus always assumed he'd done something wrong given the way Mikael would belittle him unlike the rest of his siblings.
"Niklaus…"
"I've heard enough," he barked, standing to face her.
"But I want to explain…"
"How can I believe anything you say to me anymore?" He brushed past her before she could give him some feeble excuse and made his way to the door. Klaus never wanted to step foot in that house again, it was tainted for him now after all the lies he'd been fed there over the years.
Klaus shook his head, attempting to dislodge the memories before his siblings thought he'd completely lost the plot.
"Fine," he conceded, knowing that he'd been moody but given his current challenge it was hardly unexpected. "A round of drinks for my brother and sister. Speaking of brothers, where is Elijah? Don't tell me it's past his bedtime already?"
"You know him too well."
"He saw a girl half dressed and now he's down for the count, he really needs to get laid," Kol chuckled, earning a whack from Rebekah along with a steely gaze.
"What's going on, Rebekah?"
"Nothing, it's just something I don't want to be visualising right now and I don't think he wouldn't appreciate us talking about his…"
"Shortcomings?" Kol finished, his brown eyes lighting up mischievously. Klaus joined in, he'd already had his fair share of whiskey and after his day he needed some form of release.
"Well, now my attention is piqued, how and why did Elijah see a naked woman? The only possibility would be a strip club and we all know how he feels about them ad nauseam."
"He, uh, accidentally switched onto an X rated film in the hotel," Kol explained. "In true Elijah fashion, he's now concerned he'll be charged for the privilege."
"If that's the case, I insist on escorting him to check-out in the morning," Klaus chuckled. Sometimes life seemed so rough but it was these times he found some pure happiness with his siblings, even if it was at their own expense.
"Well, in that case we need to be out at six," Rebekah instructed. She always was the schedule planner in the family. "Our Delta flight to Denver leaves at eight."
"Delta?" Klaus asked, his enthusiasm coming across more than he'd hoped. If she was on his flight again, Klaus was suddenly buoyed by that fact, knowing everything might just be okay.
"Yes, Delta," Rebekah confirmed. "Sounds like you're finally a little excited about flying, Niklaus?" Klaus didn't respond, knowing that it was a predictable trap his sister liked to try and pull him into. Plus, he didn't know if he'd see her ever again, even if every fibre in his body was screaming for a reunion. Given it was almost Christmas, Klaus hoped his festive wish would come true.

CANYOUSEETHEWORDS + “Similar Situations”
...which is to say, poetry and claims of Slender Man encounters submitted by users and then acknowledged by canon.
Anonymous asks:
I know what it's like to feel so desperately alone. I want to help you. Would it help at all to talk to someone about what you're dealing with?
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Thanks for the concern, anonymous, but talking about it can only make matters worse for everyone.
Anonymous asks:
yesterday I felt something watching me, I was scared, alone.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
If it happens again, feel free to contact me.
Anonymous asks:
Am I right in deducting from the last batch of questions and answers that you are fairly certain that there are indeed others out there that have encountered the same evil, whatever it may be, that you have?
How can I know that my situation is the same as yours?
You have good taste in music.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Oh, I am positive that there are others who know what I’m talking about. You have to understand though, I’m not trying to be difficult when I withhold details. I’m just really trying to not make matters worse.
(In regards to my musical tendencies: thank you. I heard the Pixies are playing sometime soon. Frank Black’s epic return? We’ll see. Hehe.)
Anonymous asks:
it stands cold and silent. i don't know why and i don't want to know what. i've screamed and cried and its only grown stronger. there are others, i know it, there are those who use it for play but there are others who know better. i think you know better. its calmed for you.
help me.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
I know it is the equivalent of ignoring genocide, but you must occupy your mind and distract yourself from such thought. It’s how I’m coping. It’s the only way.
Anonymous asks:
I've seen him
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Then you know.
Anonymous asks:
I was just wondering if you have any advice coping with It. It seems to come during the nights when I am alone.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Block it out. Play a game. Get a job. Run. Read. Get the fuck out of your mind.
Anonymous asks:
I can't
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
They’re right in front of you.
Anonymous asks:
I'd just like to say that I am going through the same thing you are except mine just started. I got home from work and firetrucks were surrounding my house. It was apparently a grease fire but my family was very neat and tidy. I have no siblings or parents left. I am living with my Nana a couple of blocks down the same street. I can't help but pass the house everyday and I tear up. I would love to display my name but I'm not ready for this. How are you coping with this?
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Contact me. Now.
Anonymous asks:
My question is, why hide? Why live in fear for the rest of you're life? Why live under it's rule? Why not fight it? If I was being chased by it, I would fight it and live, or fight it and die, nothing in between, I would defy the monster, for life or death.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
The strongest rebel can only provide it His strongest weapon.
Anonymous asks:
Thanks for the advice about coping. I see it less and when I do, it seems less…hostile? I do not know the proper word for it. Anyway, how did you learn how to cope as well as you have?
-Jason.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Lie, even to yourself, that everything is okay.
Anonymous asks:
he is there. waiting. i don't leave. i wait. no movement. just waiting.
help.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
I wrote just this, almost verbatim, in my journal last year, before I knew.
Anonymous asks:
Is there any way to stop it? Should I fight it head on?
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Can you fight the waters of the ocean? Does it really have any effect?
Anonymous asks:
Climbing up to the treetops can save you from the flood. But then you can't move, so is there any real escape?
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
No.
Anonymous asks:
H̴̹̄ͩ̐ͦ̚ͅe̷̗̥̯ͦ̄̎͋̊̈́͟͝ ̴͇̮̞̬̮̔͗ͬͥ͑͌͋̚f̶̨̥͍̀̑ͦo͉̪͒͑͂ͨ͛͝u̢͓̠͖̙̲͙̅̉ͯ̚͢͡ͅͅn̨̤̙̯̺͖͇̻̝̳ͨd̵̵̬͎̰̤̾̈͛̓ͣ̇̾̊ ̢̢̹̝͙̘̖̞̲̻͗͢m̩͚̭͈̏̏ͪͣ̇͐̽ͅę̡̘̬̤̝͗ͨ̇
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
You’re it.
Anonymous asks:
He starts fires. Shouldn't you take solace in the water?
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Not all floods involve water.
Anonymous asks:
Not speaking of it is good. It is right.
I am glad to see you know somewhat what you are doing.
I will continue to watch from my tower.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Hmm. I appreciated this comment. Honestly.
Living over an art gallery and seeing small-city life at any given time of day makes me feel as if I live in an ever-watching tower.
die-flut-kommt asks:
Are you looking for answers? I am.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
We all are, my friend.
Anonymous asks:
The rain. I cannot hear the rain.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Then you either have nothing to fear or are already, and absolutely, lost.
Anonymous asks:
They told me it wasn't real, that he wasn't there and I was not really seeing him. They gave me the pills, it just made it worse. Don't take the pills.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
I’ve been trying to avoid them. I’ve been doing pretty well so far. Life seems good without them so far.
Anonymous asks:
Its been three days. The ground is drying, the clouds are thinning although still thick enough to block the light. Not a drop of water has spilled, not one, in three days, after months of torrential downpour. Has the flood passed, or is it simply the calm before the storm?
The silence of the rain is deafening.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
I do enjoy a decent bit of poetry.
Anonymous asks:
You don't understand. It was the sound, the natural sound, that kept me safe. When the sound of the rain is gone, what will take its place?
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Silence.
Anonymous asks:
You are being followed by the Pale Man With No Face…. aren't you? He comes for those who are desperate.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Writing a horror movie, are you?
Anonymous asks:
I know you have the answers we seek.
We can help. Just tell us everything.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Telling my story only got the last group who tried to help me killed. Was that a fun trip north.
Anonymous asks:
I left my window open a crack last night. And he came. He fucking touched me. On my fucking shoulder. I could feel it. Am I going to die?
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Yes. Not immediately, but yes. Get away from your family. Play it off as suicide, if possible. Don’t leave room for unanswered questions. Wouldn’t want your curious little sister catching the Love, would you?
Anonymous asks:
Back in 1973 a Private. Thompson was found north of Hue in Vietnam. This was 2 years after a copter carrying him and his squad crashed and were thought to have either been captured by the Vietcong or dead.
After medical examination of Thompson and a psychological exam he was condemned insane and sent back to the states to an mental institution. He hardly spoke from his rescue to his death in 1989 from a fire in the institute. A major reason for being sent to the states back in 1973 was that he cut out both eyes and when asked he spoke " So I can't see him "
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Helluva story. I would tell you most of mine… but, you know. Spreading the good word and whatnot.
Anonymous asks:
If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. I'm sorry that you're in the situation that you're in, but the more allies the better, right? I have some experience in the paranormal, despite not with this "Slender Man" directly. I have researched extensively and am more than willing to do anything to assist. My email address is [ADDRESS]
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
You’d be in over your head.
Stay outta this one.
Anonymous asks:
The knocking on my window is just getting louder and louder each night. How do I run when I'm too scared to move?
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Put yourself in another place.
Grow up from it.
Make it just another bad dream from your childhood.
Anonymous asks:
Silence fills the empty grave now that I am gone But my mind is not at rest, for questions linger on
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
You’re alone.
Anonymous asks:
I never used to remember my dreams until I saw the living nightmare. I dreamed that the forest was singing to me a chorus of welcoming as I walked into it's darkness. As I wandered further in, I looked up at the full moon and watched it turn red as though it were filling with blood. I've packed by backpack and gave my dog to the nice family across the street. Do you think north is a good direction to head in?
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Worked for me so far. Roadtrip?
Anonymous asks:
A friend asked me why this man exists. I replied, "he just does."
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Spot on.
Anonymous asks:
The calm, Cool face of the river Asked me for a kiss.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Calm. Cool. And blank.
Anonymous asks:
Be the candle in the dark. To know is horrid, to not know is worse. Ignorance will be death.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
I appreciate your concern, but I can’t help but to feel that I’m trying to help someone who is drowning by using a fire-hose.
Anonymous asks:
We are coming to find him and remove him… K.S.S.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Simply: bring it. <3
Anonymous asks:
I've lost six men to this creature in the shadows.
Avoid the dark, if you can.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
I’ve been saying it since the get-go, my friend.
But no, I’m the crazy one. I’m the nonsensical teen who can’t sleep without a night-light.
Anonymous asks:
Here's a fact, I hope it sticks.. We're just alive out of HABIT.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
And we all just run around like rabbits.
Anonymous asks:
Why do I need to help?
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
You don’t have to. But you already are tagged. I mean, we are still talking about it.
This was a terrible idea. I knew it. But we’re all in this now, together.
Anonymous asks:
I had a dream, a few nights ago. He was in my house, then seeing me from out the window, as if he's moving farther away from me. Is this good?
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Out of mind, out of sight. Until you remember, again.
Anonymous asks:
Enlighten me. Please. What DO they say about detectives from New England?
Do we smell? Are we good-looking? Are we angry and hot-headed? Or is it just me?
You're fighting something that doesn't sleep, kid. You're going to need all the help you can get.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
Perhaps you’re right. But you’re just reiterating the fact that the police won’t help. And I’ve tried!
(And on a side note, there’s only one Boston detective I’ve ever admired. And he’s completely fictional.)
alittlecutealittlecreep asks:
i have seen him.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
I believe you.
I never wanted to help spread it… but it seems that either way, It wins. And I don’t want to passively euthanize the world.
What can I do?
Anonymous asks:
I've seen him. First in my dreams. A cold forest, a passing stream. He stood so far yet so close to me. His arms outstretched towards me, and I awoke There he stood, standing next to me. A loud crack, like a branch braking, and he was gone. Something happened to me. At first I was not sure what it was, but now I understand. I can see the words. I don't want to.
CANYOUSEETHEWORDS responds:
I’m so sorry.
