1. My Organiser
My organiser is where I pen down my schedule, school work and random notes that I need to remember. It keeps me extremely organised and allows me to be in control of my hectic uni life. I bring my organiser with me almost everywhere I go because it is basically my whole life in a notebook. It also keeps me updated about my daily plans and I haven’t missed a single assignment deadline all thanks to it.
2. Handmade Things
I am a sucker for all things handmade — handmade cards, notes, decorations, and boards like those above. Handmade cards and notes hold a special place in my heart because I can feel the sincerity and effort that my friends have put in when doing these items. Handmade things also constantly inspire me to add a personal, unique touch to everything I do.
3. Sophie Kinsella
Sophie Kinsella is my favourite fiction author because the protagonists of her all her books are females, and I like that she portrays them to be strong, independent characters instead of other books which portray them to be meek, shy and heavily dependent on their male partners. Her stories are always very fun-loving and interesting as well, and she constantly inspires me to be independent and forward-looking!
4. Make Up Tutorials
Apart from being a huge make up junkie, I personally feel that make up is art and also a way for people to express themselves. Make up is about more than just a lick of mascara and smudge of lipstick. Our face is just like a canvas, different strokes and colours on the face will create totally different looks. The process of applying make up, to me, is very therapeutic.
5. My Friends
My friends are my main source of inspiration and happiness. This is because I spend most of my time with them and they are the ones who see me grow and mature as a person. Each and every one of them inspire me in their own unique way, through their everyday stories, shared experiences and even casual conversations.
6. Dance
Although a lot of things in my life are different now, dance is the only thing that has remained constant. I have been dancing for over 10 years now. In primary school, I joined Ballet and from secondary school till now, I have been focusing more on Girls Hip Hop and Street Jazz. Dance allows me to express my emotions and thoughts through my body, and whenever I feel stressed out, dance is able to relieve me of my worries and problems.
7. The Climb by Miley Cyrus
One of my favourite songs is The Climb by Miley Cyrus because of its very meaningful lyrics.
“Ain't about how fast I get there Ain't about what's waiting on the other side It's the climb”
Above is my favourite part of the song. It reminds me that the journey is more important than the end result. What’s important are the things and mistakes you learn from along the way, and no matter how difficult things may become, keep pushing on. This song has been my inspiration to keep going for the past few years.
8. Sheares Hall
My experience in Sheares Hall has been a very fruitful and memorable one. Throughout my time in Sheares Hall, I met many friends of different backgrounds and I learnt the importance of listening and empathizing. In addition, I met a group of friends whom I will definitely keep for life. Sheares Hall is where I had many new experiences and it’s a family hall that reminds me of the importance of being a genuine person to everyone you meet, and to be there for your friends whenever they need you.
9. A Photoshoot Experience
I had a friend who took up photography as a hobby and he approached me to be his model for a day. It was a whole new experience for me. We had to walk so much and we just followed wherever the route would take us, just to find the perfect spot to take photos. Other than sourcing for suitable locations, he had to find the perfect angle to get certain things within the frame. This experience taught me the importance of resilience and passion. What really inspired me was my friend’s passion for photography that kept him going throughout the entire day. Although I will never do this again (because it is just not my thing), I really appreciated this memorable once in a life time experience.
10. Writing
Since young, writing has been both my habit and hobby. I always gravitate towards writing my notes down physically as compared to typing them out on my laptop. When I was around 10 years old, I started writing my own mini novels (for the fun of it) and I really enjoyed writing. Writing allows me to pour out my thoughts systematically and I feel really inspired whenever I pick up my open and start writing about almost anything.
