Summer Language Challenge. Week One. French

7.06 - 13.06

I started Summer Language Challenge with exploring methods of learning and memorizing. It took me quite a long time, but at last I figured out what works best for me.

So, I got two programms for learning languages: Rosetta Stone and Duolingo. Rosetta is my main source of exploring French language. I use it for learning new things. I use Duolingo for some kind of repetition of the new words. Whenever I met a new grammar rule, I looked for it’s explanation in the textbook. Thanks @heavenlygraphite for this and other “Free Online Language Courses” links.

And I started kind of bullet journal to track my progress (for the first time in my life, wow). I write down all the new words and rules, just everything.

This week I learned a little bit of:

Pronouns

Greetings

Indefinite article

Definite article

Partitive Article

verb “avoir“ = to have

verb “être“ = to be

Basic negation

Conjunction “et” = and

Basic vocabulary (themes: people, simple actions, food, animals, colors, professions, the environment)

Adjectives

Questions

About 110 words and 8 grammar rules in all.

I’m less scared of French now. But, ugh, it’s so hard to learn new words and explore other language’s logic system (I had a long break in studies). I swear, I can hear my brains squeak and creak sometimes.
