You Raise Me Up (Charlie/Nick)
Summary: Nick's obsession with picking Charlie up leads to cute discoveries, which lead to even cuter confessions. (Based on an anoymous prompt!! Hope y'all enjoy it!! xo)
It all started because of Nick Nelson and his stupidly strong rugby arms. Somehow, Nick has convinced himself that picking Charlie up and carrying him is his obligation as a boyfriend.
So, it’s become a very common occurrence for Charlie to be lifted off his feet, a surprised gasp followed by giggles, clinging to Nick like a koala.
And because Nick is stupidly strong, he makes it seem as easy as breathing to lift Charlie in every which way — scooping him up in a bridal carry, over his shoulder like a fireman, or the classic piggyback.
Clearly, all those just weren’t enough for Nick, who needs to add new techniques of literally sweeping his boyfriend off his feet to his repertoire, and one day, decides that sticking his hands under Charlie’s arms js the new thing he wants to try.
Rather than a surprised sound followed by fond laughter, the reaction that Nick gets is something akin to a shriek, although Charlie will deny that.
“Are you okay?” Nick asks, pulling his hands away as though he’d been burned.
Charlie’s cheeks are pink, his eyes wide. “No—I mean, yes, I’m okay, I just—I’m really ticklish,” he splutters, the admission making his face flush more.
Nick’s worried expression quickly melts away and is replaced by a mischievous grin. “Oh, you are?”
The giggling starts before he’s even been touched. “Nick, please, I can’t,” he babbles, but he doesn’t make a move to escape. If he really wanted to, he could take off running and by the time Nick caught him, they’d likely be breathless and too exhausted for such antics, but something like curiosity, maybe even excitement, keeps Charlie rooted to the spot.
He goes down easily when Nick manhandles him to the ground, but he makes a show of swearing and half-heartedly kicking his legs. Once he’s flat on his back, Nick’s hands worm their way back under his arms easily, and he squeals. “Cut it out!”
“Absolutely not,” Nick replies. “This is the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen.”
Charlie whines between his high-pitched laughter, the flustering compliments not at all helping him maintain a shred of dignity throughout this ordeal. “Shut up!”
A gasp of mock offense is followed by fingers scribbling with twice as much vigor, making Charlie cackle and blurt out nonsensical apologies.
The two boys end up in the grass, Nick hovering over him and kissing the residual giggles off of his lips.
Ever since, Nick has been tickling him a lot, and Charlie…Well, he doesn’t hate it half as much as he pretends to.
He’s grown up with siblings, and his friends have never shied away from giving him playful affection. He sees it as a form of closeness, bonding, and love. When Nick tickles him, it makes Charlie feel adored, but his body still kicks into the same fight-or-flight that has nearly broken Tori’s nose multiple times.
Two weeks later, they’re in Nick’s bedroom, playing Mario Kart when Nick latches onto Charlie’s knee and squeezes it until his car falls off the edge of the track, knocking him back into 8th place.
“No, stop tickling me!” he cries. “You cheater!”
Nick chuckles, saying a half-hearted apology, but he actually does stop, which surprises Charlie. Although it embarrasses him to think about, he didn’t…actually want him to stop. Even if it cost him the round of Mario Kart, which was saying something.
But they continue the game as normal, and Charlie still manages to get back up to first place despite Nick’s interference.
They cuddle in bed after, and Charlie tries not to overthink why Nick had stopped. But overthinking is his biggest talent and hobby, so the attempt is futile.
“You alright?” Nick asks, poking his cheek.
Charlie nods.
“Did I upset you when I tickled you during the game?” he asks. “I know it was technically cheating, but I think it was fair considering you still managed to beat me.”
There’s a light, teasing tone to his words, but his smile is soft and apologetic.
“No, not at all!” Charlie reassures him. “Actually, I…Well, normally you don’t do it so briefly, so I was kind of surprised that you stopped.”
Nick’s smile brightens. “Well, you did literally tell me to stop.”
Charlie flushes. “Yeah, but…I don’t know, it’s sort of just instinct to say that. It doesn’t always mean that I—that I actually want you to.”
“You are the most adorable person on this planet,” Nick says, pulling him into a tight hug. “You give me cuteness aggression. I just want to squeeze you.”
Charlie laughs, squirming weakly in the embrace. “You’re crushing me, you brute!”
Nick takes the insult as an opportunity to stick his hands under Charlie’s arms. “Now that I know you don’t mind this, I’m never gonna stop,” he whispers.
Charlie decides that he likes the sound of that.

Payback (Charlie/Nick)
Summary: Nick keeps messing with Charlie throughout the day, so after school, Charlie decides to get revenge. (Based on a prompt from @writingwitharlo. This is officially my first Heartstopper fic, yay!! I hope y’all enjoy it.)
It seemed that Nick was in a particularly playful, romantic mood. Normally, Charlie wouldn’t mind it one bit. The only problem was that they were in school, and while they weren’t hiding their relationship, it was incredibly distracting.
Sitting in form, flying through a sheet of mathematical equations, Charlie was so focused that he didn’t notice Nick’s hand creeping closer beneath the table. It wasn’t until the hand had latched onto his kneecap that Charlie gave a startled twitch, and it was too late to stop the surprised giggle that escaped him as Nick squeezed.
Quickly covering the giggle up with a very non-convincing cough, Charlie shot Nick a glare which held no actual disdain. “What was that for?” he asked. His homework now sported a very messy answer to the fourth question, however it was still legible.
Nick shrugged, a mischievous smile curled on his lips. “You’re just cute,” he replied simply.
Charlie felt his face flush. “Stop,” he said, but the shy smile he sported proved he wasn’t annoyed at all.
Nick had retracted his hand from Charlie’s knee, but now he reached to poke at his side. Thankfully, through his blazer it wasn’t too unbearable of a sensation, but Charlie still had to choke down another giggle.
“Knock it off, you’re gonna get us in trouble,” he said.
With a joking pout, Nick backed off and returned to his own assignment.
For the rest of the period, Charlie felt giddy and on edge from the tickling, not sure where this boldness had come from in Nick, but he wasn’t complaining. It was nice to have a boyfriend who wasn’t afraid to touch him in public, even if that touch was of the ticklish variety.
After form, Charlie put the moment out of his mind as he went through his other classes. It wasn’t until lunchtime that he saw Nick again, out at the tables and joined by Tao and Isaac.
Charlie sat at the table beside Nick, giving his friends a smile. As the four of them ate and chatted, Nick snuck his arm around Charlie’s waist.
Stuttering on his words, Charlie felt himself turning pink again, and his friends exchanged amused smiles at how easy it was for Nick to distract him.
“What book are you reading now, Isaac?” Nick asked. “I swear, you fly through those so fast, I never see you with the same one twice.”
“Oh, it’s by this great lesbian author, Nina LaCour, and it’s—”
Charlie was interested in learning about the book his friend was reading, but any opportunity to listen to Isaac was completely demolished by the fact that Nick started wiggling fingers over his side, making him bite his lip as he tried to not laugh over Isacc’s answer.
Nick pretended like nothing was happening, just listening intently to Isaac and nodding like he wasn’t tormenting his boyfriend at the same time. “That sounds like a good one,” Nick said casually as he tweaked the bottom of Charlie’s ribs.
That gained a little laugh from Charlie, causing his friends to look at him in confusion.
“What’s got you so amused?” Tao asked.
Charlie shot Nick an accusatory glare, making Nick grin.
“I was just tickling him,” he replied simply.
Tao and Isaac both smiled at their friend’s embarrassment.
“Just so you know, his neck is extremely ticklish,” Tao said, shooting Nick an overexaggerated wink.
“And his ears,” Isaac supplied.
Charlie groaned, putting his face in his hands. “You are both the worst,” he mumbled.
Tao reached across the table to ruffle Charlie’s curls. “Oh, you love us,” he cooed, sneaking a quick tickle to the back of his neck, making Charlie squeal.
When lunch ended, the day went back to normal, but he knew it wouldn’t last. As soon as school ended, Nick was coming over to his house, meaning that the pattern of getting tickled by his boyfriend would likely continue the moment they got to Charlie’s bedroom.
Unless…Well, Charlie supposed that he could always strike first, but he wasn’t sure he’d be able to hold his own in a tickle fight against big, tough rugby lad Nick Nelson. It was worth a shot though, right?
When the last bell rang, Charlie rushed to the front gate where he always met Nick. When Nick joined him, the two of them joined hands and began walking in the direction of Charlie’s bus stop, chatting about their days and plans for the evening. Just the feeling of Nick’s thumb brushing against the back of his hand set Charlie’s nerves alight, remembering the previous attacks and making his stomach do flips.
On the bus, Nick didn’t try anything, which he was grateful for. They still weren’t comfortable being too touchy feely in public. School bullies were tolerable, but random strangers were a different story. It felt like the trip home took twice as long as usual, the anticipation that Charlie felt was manipulating time and making him jittery.
At one point, Nick noticed. “You okay?” he whispered.
Charlie nodded. “Just excited to get home,” he answered. “I can’t wait to kiss you.”
That shut Nick up quickly, making his freckled face blush.
Front door unlocked, shoes toed off at the door, and the two teenagers quickly made their way up the stairs to Charlie’s bedroom. The moment the door was closed (not all the way, per request of his parents), they sat on Charlie’s bed and their lips locked hungrily, having missed out on the chance to kiss while at school.
As they kissed, Charlie decided to seek his revenge. His hands rested on Nick’s hips, and he slowly pressed the tips of his fingers into the flesh and wiggled them.
Nick’s lips twisted into a smile against Charlie’s before he pulled away, giggling.
“It’s my turn to have some fun now,” Charlie said, grinning, and latched onto Nick’s sides to squeeze them.
Their combined fits of laughter quickly filled the small room, Nick falling back against the mattress and leaving him even more defenseless. “This is nohot fair,” the older boy insisted.
“Not fair? You’ve been tickling me all day!” Charlie replied.
Attempting to grab at Charlie’s hands, Nick gave a little whine. “It’s only fair when I do it to you,” he replied.
“Oh, of course. That logic makes perfect sense.”
Charlie moved to scribble over Nick’s stomach, making his boyfriend burst into a renewed bout of laughter, squirming wildly against the bedsheets.
“Cut it out!”
“Only if you call it a truce,” Charlie replied. “You’ve been bugging me all day, I think this is some well-deserved payback.”
“Okay, okay, truce! I won’t tickle you anymore,” Nick promised, struggling to speak as he was breathless and still giggling hard.
Charlie backed off with a smug smile before laying down beside Nick, snuggling up to his chest. As he caught his breath, Nick cuddled right back, pulling the smaller teen close and pressing a small kiss to his forehead.
“You’re evil,” he said.
“Me? You started it!” Charlie replied, feigning offense at the accusation.
“Yeah, well, I like making you laugh,” Nick said. “Your laugh is cute.”
Charlie blushed for what felt like the millionth time that day, burying his face in Nick’s neck. “Shut up,” he muttered.
“If I hadn’t promised, I would totally test out those spots that Tao and Isaac told me about, just to prove how cute your laugh is,” Nick said.
Slowly, Charlie peeked up at him. “I mean, if you insist.”
Nick’s face split into a grin once again, and he wasted no time in running his fingers over Charlie’s neck, gentle and teasing. And so, the room was filled with laughter yet again.

Weak Knees (Charlie/Nick)
Summary: Charlie won’t stop calling Nick old, so Nick decides to knock him down a peg. (Based on a prompt by @itslittlegiggle!! Thanks for the idea, and for your lovely headcanons as well!! Hope y’all enjoy it!!)
“It’s ‘cause you’re old!”
It had slipped out that evening, at Harry’s party, running through the halls. Nick had just laughed and kept running, not really commenting on it. But once he joked about it, Charlie couldn’t seem to stop. Their age gap was only one year, and roughly five months, but he still found it very funny to crack jokes about.
Any excuse Charlie found to say it, he did. Nick was complaining about losing in Mario Kart? It was because he was old. Nick couldn’t keep up with him during a playful chase? Old. Feeling too warm in the summer weather? Old!
One day, Nick seemed to have enough. They’d been playing in the backyard with Nellie and Nick had gotten tired of chasing after the energetic dog every time she wanted to have the ball thrown.
After Nellie had been let back into the house, Charlie had jokingly called him old, and Nick had shut the door and pounced.
The two wrestled on the grass for a moment, laughing as they went.
“You think I’m old, huh? Still strong enough to pin you, it seems,” Nick said.
He straddled Charlie’s hips, hovering over him with a smirk.
“Are you sure your weak knees will be able to hold this position?” Charlie asked cheekily.
Nick raised his eyebrows. “You’re one to talk about weak knees, Spring,” he replied, and before Charlie could ask what he meant by that, his hands darted back to squeeze his boyfriend’s knees.
The reaction was immediate; Charlie began to laugh, his head tilting to the sky as he squirmed beneath the touch. “Wait—”
“Wait for what? I haven’t got time to wait, Char, I’m old, remember?” Nick teased, watching with glee and adoration as his boyfriend laughed.
If he weren’t already a giggling mess from the tickling, Charlie would laugh at the banter. Since Nick found out that he was ticklish, it was an almost daily occurrence. Not that he really minded, and Nick had obviously caught on to the fact that Charlie didn’t mind it.
Through some rush of adrenaline, Charlie found himself able to actually fight back. It helped that Nick was quite distracted, trying to wrangle kicking legs in while not facing them. While his head was turned, Charlie grabbed onto Nick’s sides, startling the older teen and making it easy to flip them over.
“Clearly you’re getting old if you’re letting me get the upper hand, Nelson,” Charlie said, although the breathless nature of his voice didn’t make it sound too victorious.
Nick, although he was giggling like mad, was not going down that fast. In one quick move, he wrapped his arms around Charlie’s middle and brought him crashing down onto his chest, wrapped up in a tight hug. At first, Charlie assumed it was some adorable form of a truce, but his solace was interrupted when he felt Nick’s hands scribbling over his back, teasing up and down the length of his spine.
Even through his sweater, Charlie was incredibly ticklish there, which Nick had actually been the first to discover, since his friends had never really tested his back for sensitive spots in their youth. During a cuddle session, Nick had innocently ran his fingers up his back, making him twist away with a soft gasp.
Of course, this led to an experiment if Nick was also ticklish there, and the results were as such: Charlie was ticklish on his shoulders, the knob of his spine, and down the middle of his back, mostly to lighter touches, while Nick was more ticklish on his lower back, and the touches had to be rougher to actually get him giggling.
Absolutely fascinating, and incredibly necessary data.
Charlie’s laugh was muffled in Nick’s chest, and his hands fumbled uselessly, attempting to tickle back and just grabbing at his shirt instead.
“Are you planning to apologize?” Nick asked, slowing his touch.
“For telling the truth?” Charlie panted. “No way.”
“Suit yourself.”
The tickling started up again, this time at his ribs, and Charlie’s laugh rang through the yard once again. It didn’t take long for that playful attitude to melt away and Charlie to say, “Okay, okay, I’m sorry!”
Nick stopped immediately, grinning at him. “See, was that so hard?”
“Shut up,” Charlie replied, but he was smiling. As he caught his breath, he nuzzled his face into Nick’s shirt, his face warm. “You’re mean.”
“As if you don’t like it,” Nick replied.
He wasn’t sure if he meant the tickling specifically, or just the general playful teasing, but either way, Nick would be correct. And on the off chance that Charlie called him “old” again later that week…Well, it was probably just a coincidence.

From Within (Charlie/Nick)
Summary: When they’re together, Nick and Charlie can’t stop giggling. They discuss the cause of all that laughter. (A prompt from my darling @nhasablogg!! Hope y’all enjoy the fic, I wrote it at two in the morning so if you see any typos, no you didn’t!!)
Something that Charlie found equally odd and endearing about his boyfriend was the fact that whenever he laughed, Nick always laughed, too. It was cute, no doubt about it, but Charlie just wasn’t quite sure why.
He had also grossly underestimated the amount of times that he laughed on any given day. When he was with Nick, it was just constant giggling, cheeks stretched in a never-wavering smile. And sure, Nick could be quite funny, but they were rarely even laughing at actual jokes. They were just giddy to be together, and it was totally apparent.
That evening, the two boys were holed up in Charlie’s bedroom, sitting on the floor and doing their homework, often sneaking glances, touches, and kisses between equations and sentences. After completing another page of reading, Charlie stole a quick look in Nick’s direction, only to realize Nick was also looking at him, and they made eye contact before Charlie began to giggle. And sure enough, Nick’s soft laugh came right after.
“Why are you always doing that?” Charlie asked, his tone fond rather than accusatory.
“Doing what?” Nick replied, placing his pen down to reach for Charlie’s hand.
He took it and squeezed, smiling down at their interlaced fingers. “I dunno, everytime I laugh, you always laugh too even if nothing is funny. I don’t even know if you realize you’re doing it.”
“I honestly hadn’t realized,” Nick said. “But your giggle is just so cute!”
“I don’t giggle,” Charlie replied, feeling his face flush.
“Oh, you definitely do.”
“So what you’re trying to say is that you’re laughing at me?” Charlie asked, raising a brow, voice laced with mock offense.
Nick shook his head fondly. “No, silly, it’s adorable. It’s just so contagious, every time you laugh it’s like I get butterflies in my stomach. And you’re right, I didn’t even notice I was doing it, but whenever I see you smile, it’s like I have to do it too. It’s like you…tickle me from within, or something.”
Well, if Charlie hadn’t already been completely smitten with Nicholas Nelson before, he certainly was now. As he was dwelling on those sweet, romantic words, however, that last sentence really caught his attention.
“Tickle you from within?” he repeated, unable to fight the grin on his face.
“I know, it sounded weird as soon as I said it but it was too late to take it back,” Nick said, using the hand that wasn’t holding Charlie’s to cover his face.
“You are absolutely adorable,” Charlie said. “But since you like to laugh so much, maybe I should tickle you from the outside instead.”
Before Nick could reply, let alone process what he had said, Charlie fully abandoned his homework to lunge at Nick, latching onto his hips and squeezing.
“Noho, wait!” Nick said, laughter already spilling from his lips.
Knowing the protest was all in good fun, Charlie didn’t listen, continuing his playful attack on his boyfriend. He scribbled his fingers from Nick’s hips up to his ribs, getting the biggest reaction from the slightly plush curve of his sides.
“Is that a good spot?” Charlie asked. “I suppose this really tickles on the outside, hm?”
Nick uselessly attempted to grab Charlie’s hands, giving a nod of confirmation at the question, as if his squirming and snickering didn’t get the message across.
Charlie couldn’t help but giggle along, and figured that Nick also had a quite infectious laugh.
“Char, mercy,” Nick begged.
And because he wasn’t cruel, Charlie granted him that mercy, although he would love to listen to that sound all day long. Unfortunately, his beautiful boyfriend needed a chance to breathe, and so he would have to give up on that daydream.
Nick’s body sagged against the carpet as he caught his breath, face flushed and hair mussed. “You are so mean,” he said simply.
“Please, I was going easy on you,” Charlie replied.
Nick chuckled before sitting back up, and immediately leaning in for a kiss.
Charlie returned the kiss happily, practically melting beneath the affection. But as they pulled away, he couldn’t help but poke a little fun. “I think that kiss tickled me from within,” he whispered, his lips twisted in a mischievous smile.
“You’re never going to let that go, are you?” Nick asked.
“Never,” Charlie replied, pulling him in for another kiss.
The rest of the evening was filled with plenty of laughter.
