Last but not least of the #heartmakers for @denverhealthmedical is @marisacawthorne .Marisa’s hearts were a bit fatter and luscious than the others. One if the things that was fun for me was seeing how everyone had a ‘signature’ with how their hearts turned out. The beauty of handmade! Marisa says “I am very thankful for the opportunity that Kim Harrell gave me to make 210 sterling silver heart pins, to honor the COVID front line workers, that are giving us all they have to survive this pandemic. Her design is simple, very nice and modern, I enjoyed making them and loved having her teach me this project and getting to know her.” It has been an amazing process and I have met so many new people! The work continues with many of these heart makers and a few new ones. I will keep you posted😉 #heartsafetypin #safetypin #silver #coloradometalsmiths https://www.instagram.com/p/CGP-M3Fl7Ni/?igshid=1xbdvpj5qfk87

Gratitude pin shoutout: Now it’s @loatsjim (Jim Loats) turn! This #heartmaker has been a student of mine for a couple of years. Jim wanted to help make the #heartsafetypin as he had never experienced something lime this. Jim says: “I am so grateful to have had this tangible way to say thanks to “front-line” people who work at Denver Health (@denverhealthmedical ) They have been there doing it for years. I love being able to say THANK YOU in this way. I was taken to the Denver Heath twice. I am so grateful for the ER care I received. So, THANKS to all of you. ( And thanks, Kim, for the opportunity to participate. )” Thank you Jim!! #safetypin #silverpin #coloradometalsmiths #covidworkerappreciationgift #hearts https://www.instagram.com/p/CGLZFiGldZF/?igshid=mh1ntoh15a51

#heartmaker gratitude day 4! Today meet Ashley @ashleyjayjewelry . She did a great job making her hearts despite the fact she was out of state for part of the time. Luckily the heart makers can do the work in their own time and space. Ashley shares some info about herself: Owner and artist behind Ashley Jay Jewelry, Ashley got her BFA in Metalsmithing from the University of North Texas in 2013. At UNT Ashley studied under James Thurman, Ana Lopez and @harlanw.butt Ashley was an apprentice to Harlan Butt for a semester where she learned the ins and outs of enameling techniques and processes and also helped to make Harlan’s internationally celebrated vessels. After graduating, Ashley worked as a bench jeweler for Jared the Galleria of Jewelry for one year before branching off on her own to make her own jewelry business. After moving to the PNW she worked as an apprentice for Nancy Worden of Seattle, WA where Ashley helped to create Nancy’s one of a kind, narrative art jewelry. Now Ashley lives and works in Denver, CO where she is a contract metalsmith for local jewelry businesses, and is developing and working on her own art jewelry business. #coloradometalsmiths @denverhealthmedical #silverhearts #heartsafetypin #covidkindness #artmakesadifference https://www.instagram.com/p/CGIJLiNl5He/?igshid=12efjq1duuldr
