Stanley ref for Artfight!! He's Steve and Murph's eldest kid, born about 7 years after the events of the finale. When he grows up he wants to go travelling to new islands with his Aunt Delphy and become the magical equivalent of Steve Irwin

Caddy ref finished to match her brother!! They're about 2 years younger than him. I'll go into more detail at a later date but there's some extra lore on her Artfight profile!

STEVE WEEK 2024 DAY 1: Parent/Child

Papa Steve with his two eldest kids Cadence (left) and Stanley (right). He never knew his own dad (my personal HC) and that kinda sucked for him so he's super dedicated to being an excellent parent and loves his kids to bits. He's definitely the Soft Touch parent who lets them get away with anything

Was Stanley excited to be a big brother?

He was a little bit too young to fully comprehend it when Caddy was first born (he was just past 2) but once he figured out that this new creature living in his house was here to stay and also related to his parents the same way he was, he got attached very quickly, and because she was a very sickly baby he was super protective of her right from the start

Yes!! Murph's accent isn't super strong so the kids only have a hint of an accent that shows up on some words more than others

Stanley for sure. He's that combination of accident prone but also incredibly thick skinned so he's constantly getting scrapes and dents and just not noticing. Lucky for him his baba knows healing magic!

Y'know how Caddy has a bit of a thing with ghosts? And Murph's parents have passed?? And sometimes children will see the ghosts of their dead relatives???

I have absolutely no idea how Oracle magic works in TOH, and what constitutes someone becoming/not becoming a ghost when they die; in my personal HC people who have been laid to rest properly are much more peaceful and it requires a bit more skill and effort to summon them from the afterlife compared to a vengeful/trapped spirit who hasn't been able to move on properly. Those are the types of ghosts Caddy comes into contact with most often, but that being said she's definitely had at least one accidental spiritual Skype call with Grandma and Grandpa

I'm back with the first two Sturphykid designs!! Still need to colour these but Cadence has white hair and grey eyes because of her curse, and Stan is basically just Steve-coloured except with green eyes 💚

When did Steve and Murph decide they wanted kids? At the beginning of their marriage or a little later? Who brought it up first? Do you have any designs for their witchlings?

Turns out I have a lot to say about this so it's under a cut to save space!

Steve always knew he wanted kids, and lots of them. He never really knew his biological father but grew up with plenty of good paternal role models around him and is determined to become the Most Dad Ever. However he doesn't bring it up right away because he doesn't think it's something that Murph wants (at the moment, if at all) and he doesn't want them to feel like he's pressuring them into anything before they're ready. If they say no, it's not something they want, he'd be sad about that but could ultimately accept it as long as there's plenty of other people (and their kids) he can surround himself with

Murph does, in fact, want to have kids, but unlike Steve it's something they realise later in life. They were never that interested before but now they're with Steve they want His Kids. They want to make a family with him. They're a bit more hesitant about it than Steve is because they worry about being a bad parent. Both Murph's parents were huge role models to them and an impossibly high standard to live up to and Murph doesn't feel worthy to try. Steve does his best to dispel those worries because of course they're going to do a great job, but it takes some convincing (and a bit of therapy) before Murph feels ready

It first gets brought up when they go to visit the Bat Queen about a year after the Day of Unity, to adopt new palismen. BQ always demands you state your deepest wish so that the right palisman can find you, and Steve says that he wants to be strong and resourceful, so he can build a home and maybe (bashfully, because Murph is right there) one day build a family. He expects to be rejected but didn't want to lie, but Murph just looks at him like "you want a family with me? 🥺🥺🥺" And that's how the topic first comes up

They talk about it in more depth at a later date, and both agree at the time that it's something they both want to do in the future, but they don't go for it right away. They want to make sure they have a good few years of being together just the two of them, after so many years of being separated, and they start making changes to the house to make it more family-friendly in the future. They also start talking about logistics, i.e. where the baby is actually going to come from, and the necessary medical prep for that

Baby #1 is born after they've been together about 6-7 years! His name is Stanley and he looks just like Steve, but with Murph's green eyes. Baby #2 is born about 3 years later, their daughter Cadence, and she looks much more like Murph but still gets Steve's horn. Those are the only two that I've given names/personalities to so far, but there will almost definitely be more. These two get bitten by the baby bug and will probably end up having half a dozen kids by the time they're done (I might even give them triplets 👀). I don't have any finished art of the kids yet but I will do soon!
