From Data to Decisions: Leveraging IoMT for Improved Healthcare Outcomes
The article explores how the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is transforming healthcare by enabling remote patient monitoring, enhancing chronic disease management, and optimizing smart hospital operations. It delves into the benefits, challenges, regulatory aspects, and future potential of IoMT integrated with AI and blockchain technology.
Introduction:
The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) represents a transformative leap in healthcare technology, connecting medical devices and applications to healthcare IT systems via networking technologies. This interconnected web of devices allows for the seamless collection, analysis, and sharing of health data, which in turn enhances healthcare outcomes.By harnessing the power of IoMT, healthcare providers can make more informed decisions, improve patient care, and optimize operational efficiency.
The Role of IoMT in Healthcare
IoMT spans a vast array of devices, from wearable fitness trackers to advanced medical imaging equipment, all of which generate and transmit data that can be analyzed for critical insights.
Here’s how IoMT is revolutionizing various aspects of healthcare:
Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM): Imagine a scenario where your vital signs, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and glucose levels, are constantly monitored without frequent visits to a clinic.RPM enables this by using devices like continuous glucose monitors and smart heart rate sensors.Read more>>
Chronic Disease Management: Managing chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) becomes significantly more effective with IoMT. Devices provide continuous, detailed data on disease progression and treatment efficacy. Read more>>
Smart Hospitals: In a smart hospital, interconnected devices such as IV pumps, patient beds, and imaging equipment streamline operations and enhance patient safety.Smart beds can automatically adjust to prevent bedsores, while connected IV pumps can precisely control medication dosages, reducing the risk of human error. Read more>>
Benefits of IoMT
Improved Patient Outcomes: IoMT facilitates early detection of potential health issues through continuous monitoring, allowing for preventive care and reducing the need for emergency interventions. For example, patients at risk of heart failure can be monitored for signs of deterioration, enabling early intervention and potentially life-saving treatment. Read more>>
Cost Reduction: By enabling remote monitoring and early intervention, IoMT significantly reduces the frequency of hospital readmissions. This not only improves patient outcomes but also alleviates the financial strain on healthcare systems. For instance, patients with chronic conditions can be managed at home, reducing the need for expensive hospital stays. Read more>>
Better Decision-Making: The advanced analytics on data collected from IoMT devices provide actionable insights for healthcare providers. For example, data from wearable devices can be analyzed to detect early signs of health deterioration, enabling timely intervention.Similarly, data from smart hospital equipment can help identify patterns and trends that inform clinical decisions. Hospitals and medical personnel are supposed to be protected under 'international law'.
israel's impunity as it gleefully, viciously and brutally destroys the entire healthcare sector of Gaza shows that under US hegemony, 'international law' is worth as much as shitty toilet paper.

What's stopping the possibility of a ceasefire is pretty simple. Hamas is holding 239 Israeli civilians hostage including children and the elderly. What's happening in Palestine is a travesty and horrendous. But Israel can't initiate a ceasefire from the position they're in, so we need to be agitating for Hamas to release the hostages and call for a ceasefire instead.
NO GENOCIDE IS JUSTIFIABLE
HOW DOES THE KILLING OF INNOCENT PEOPLE ON THIS EXTREME LEVEL FORCE HAMAS TO RETURN HOSTAGES??
ISRAEL'S BOMBARDMENT AND INDISCRIMINATE SHOOTING IN GAZA THREATEN EVERYONE THERE INCLUDING DOCTORS JOURNALISTS CHILDREN ENTIRE FAMILIES AND THE HOSTAGES
EVERYONE IS TARGETED
YOU HAVE HOSPITALS BOMBED HOW ANY OF THIS IS JUSTIFIED

Four was honestly surprised how many people were here. It was his first big trip, and it was definitely overwhelming. He was usually a loner, but he had to admit… he was thankful he’d asked a friend to come along.
Legend laughed as he texted someone, face glowing with glee. He elbowed Four mischievously. “We should definitely send pictures to Wars.”
“Is that who you’re texting?” Four asked with a smile, enjoying the cheer from his usually grumpier friend. Legend adored education conferences - his friend was nothing if not a lover of learning and exploring new things.
“Oh absolutely,” Legend replied, showing his phone. “He’s upset because I went to the emergency medicine conference and then went to this one. Personally, I think he’s just jealous because I have a cert he doesn’t.”
“Wait, Wars doesn’t have his CCRN?” Four questioned, confused. He figured Warriors, who had everything in his life in order, would have his critical care nursing certification. It was fairly common for nurses in ICU and ED settings.
“Nope!” Legend quipped with delight, obviously ecstatic that he had something over the military nurse.
“Okay, but important question: where are we going to get dinner?”
“Somewhere it doesn’t cost half our paycheck.”
Four glanced around at the skyscrapers. “Uh… not sure we’re going to manage that. I didn’t think the Hebra Mountains had cities like this.”
“Well, then we can contemplate Brugada Syndrome and complicated EKG rhythms while we starve,” Legend supposed.
“Oh, don’t be like that,” Four laughed. “This is a trip, we shouldn’t worry about the cost too much.”
”We don’t make Time’s salary.”
“But we make decent salary.”
Legend bit his lips, stubborn. Four narrowed his eyes analytically. “This isn’t about how much the food costs; it’s because you’ve blown your budget on coffee, isn’t it?”
His friend immediately flushed, guilty as charged. “They charge ten rupees for coffee! Ten!! This place is ridiculous!”
“I told you your caffeine addiction would come back to bite you someday,” Four smiled. “Or, well, more so than it already has.”
“I swear, if you bring up the SVT episode one more time—”

Today I had an appointment with Cardiology. I think the Cardiologist is avoiding me bc the whole time I was under his care his attitude was I’m doing these tests bc your anxious not bc I think there’s something wrong with you and There’s nothing more we can do and it’s not going to kill you. You need to learn to live with your heart problems and be ok with that. So he was kind of flabbergasted when I came back after starting methotrexate and my blood pressure & heart rate were completely normal after years of them progressively getting worse to the point of both being in the 190-200s.
So anyways, he’s been pawning me off on his assistants which is fine with me. At multiple appointments I had mentioned how my low blood pressure was one of my most debilitating symptoms. He never wanted to put me on meds for that bc to him my low blood pressure wasn’t a problem. But it is a problem. It affects my vision. It affects my cognition. It makes it dangerous to drive and impossible to think or accomplish tasks. He literally told me to just drink more water and then talk to his assistants. For two weeks I drank so much water and electrolytes that I was vomiting it up into my mouth when I moved. I ate all the salt I could take and used compression wraps. Nothing helped. I had to set alarms to remind me to take caffeine before driving and make sure I was home before it started to wear off. A few times it wasn’t enough and I had to pull over and wait it out.
So today his assistant finally prescribed me Midodrine. Which is so laughable for anyone in the POTS community bc it’s usually one of the first things drs try (after the water & salt trick 🙄) but I’ve been going to the doctors for POTS symptoms since 2009 and have been disabled by those symptoms since 2014 and this is the first time it was ever an option. I understand that for a while my blood pressure was too high to consider taking Midodrine but I haven’t had high blood pressure since the summer of 2023 and it’s almost 2025 now? It’s ridiculous.
Anyways, I’ll let y’all know how it turns out. It’s a short acting medication that I’m supposed to take three times a day. I took my first dose an hour ago and so far my eyes feel better, I can breathe better and my blood pressure is ideal so I’m taking that as a good sign.

Hey.
I have not been doing well lmao
I have an MRI coming up next month, the medication isn't alleviating the pain at all, and my insurance has decided that being in pain for three months straight without break isn't an issue, medically speaking.
Also, I might be severely depressed, because every doctor I have spoken to about my debilitating pain has taken a moment to ask me if I've considered scheduling an appointment with a psychiatrist. Like, my doctor called me while I was at work for an unofficial phone call to inform me that she was concerned about me.

One Week Post-Op (DI Top Surgery update, TW MENTION: Surgical procedure, surgical complications, medical transition, top surgery drains, Hematoma)
Wow, holy crap, my surgery was a week ago already!
I met with my surgeon yesterday for my first follow up! It was really nice to be able to talk about the small hematoma (a blot clot, more or less!) in my left side, and have her concretely tell me that it’s breaking down the way it’s supposed to, that the neon color drainage IS normal (for a person with a hematoma)… And I got my right side drain out!!! The left will continue to stay in until (at least) my follow up a week from today. The hematoma needs to reliquify slowly and drain, either via my drain or by spreading to the surrounding porous tissue by converting to bruising. That being said, my bruising is gonna WORSEN before it’ll get better, but bruising is a good sign that my hematoma is healing. Swelling is pretty consistent on the left, and she said that everything looks amazing, all things considered!
I realized yesterday that I will never again have to deal with underboob sweat, that weird “tuck your shirt under them so your skin doesn’t stick and get all sweaty gross,” or having to “rest them” while leaning on a table. That was a trippy realization, that at some point I did that for the last time, and now I’m just free of it. I was able to soooorta tilt to my right while sleeping last night, and as a side sleeper, I’m ecstatic about that. I looked at my pre-op photos for the first time since surgery this morning and I’m gonna be honest… I’m already forgetting what they felt like. It feels so dissociated bc my brain just so easily clicked into “Yep, this is what my chest is supposed to look like.” Even with the incisions and bruising it still feels like MY (flat) chest just had some surgery. And that’s a super fucking cool feeling, having my chest feel like MINE, finally feel familiar.
My mom thanked my surgeon yesterday for “that (my) smile” and said “it was an overnight difference with him. I can just see him glowing with relief.” I think that’s a pretty accurate anecdote to leave this update off on. More to come as things progress.
Side note- If anyone has any questions about top surgery, drains, hematomas, or anything adjacent, I’m happy to talk! My DMs are always open. I’m by no means an expert or qualified doctor, but I’m always happy to share my experience in the hope that it helps someone else.

Love (cannot emphasis how much sarcasm there is in that word) that an official Canadian government response to high cellphone rates is to switch carriers.
Switch it to what? We basically have three companies since one was allowed to eat the forth (with the government saying it wasn't anti-competition and the company eating the other pinky promising they wouldn't jack rates up). Even the smaller companies have to rent infrastructure from the Big Three so there's only so much they can do if that rent costs an arm and a leg.
And that's not touching on how many "small companies" are actually just subsidiaries of the Big Three. You may save $5 but you're still with Telus/Rogers/Bell.
Or that the actual small companies tend to have shit coverage because they don't have the infrastructure available to them and are prevented from getting it. Or their traffic is throttled in favour of the Big Three's customers. Or both.
Or that they're extremely regional thus aren't an option for a huge chunk of Canada's population.
We have no true options and the government has shown time and again that they're fine with monopolies, in multiple industries, and don't care when said monopolies jack up prices to make shareholders and the c-suite more money at the expense of everyone else. At most there will be a verbal slap on the wrist and a giftcard for $25 that people have to register for, for a decade and a half of price gouging.
It's not talked a whole lot about outside the country from what I've seen and heard but Canada is a country of monopolies. A handful of companies own nearly everything, every province has a family or two that owns a hell of a lot (Nova Scotia is basically owned by one family at this point), and our government ignores it. Even the branch that is supposed to be against monopolies is fine with mergers and takeovers in most cases.
Because, you know, the company said it totally wouldn't use consumers' lack of options to increase prices.
#canada#so much of our infrastructure and critical construction such as housing#has been pawned off for decades to private companies#and i forgot to mention one (1) family owns the bridge that is a major international corridor between canada and the us#which is apparently fine even though they fought tooth and nail to stop a bridge they don't own from being built#like our housing crisis can be traced back to the government deciding to stop building public housing in the 90s#because they figured private developers would pick up the slack#affordable apartments don't bring in much money so we got decades of cheap-ass 'luxury condos' instead#and once airbnb became a thing we got entire buildings with units <300sqft#and of course when the party in charge rotates between conservatives and neolibs nothing changes and that can gets kicked down the road#and keeps getting kicked until something collapses and they see the chance to fully privatize an industry#something similar is happening to our healthcare system too#it has been left to languish for years/decades with funding freezes and cuts#and private companies are quick to jump in and get the government stamp of approval to do [thing] that the public system clearly can't do#when [thing] would absolutely be possible if it was actually funded and/or staffed#so many communities were cut off when greyhound closed up shop because there's no government inter-city transportation#we lost internet/banking/cell service/etc nation-wide because one of the big three decided to push an update to live without redundancies#and it bugged and took the entire company's network down#even the government agency that demands major companies have a backup on a different network was taken down because they ignored that#and they got a deal if they kept their backup with rogers while their main network was also rogers#so they couldn't even make an emergency statement or anything about it#half my province also lost all digital infrastructure because it's a private company and making a redundancy line would mean smaller bonuse#it's just so bad#joke all you want about how canada is nice and friendly#but you are wrong and it's hell if you actually live here#the only reason canada is seen as nice is because it's hard to not seem like the better option when the us is your neighbour#and because of decades of pr work to make canada seem friendly and nice and not at all problematic#in some countries you actually have to try to hide you're canadian because of how much we colonize and the damage we do to other countries#yes these tags have derailed from the post but ugh#i take major issue with people who insist canada is nice and has never done anything wrong

2 Weeks on T: What I’ve Noticed
So I started testosterone two weeks ago (edit: my stoned ass thought it was 3 sorry) and just did my third shot (subcutaneous, .1 ml (20mg) once a week to start off). While the changes are very minimal, theyre noticeable.
The ass sweat. My god dude. It started for me within a few hours of my first shot (literally the very first change)
Bottom growth! I think it started a couple days after my first shot and has been growing slowly since. Definitely a noticeable difference in size, sensation and like… how the skin feels.
I think about sex a lot more than I did before and get horny a lot easier but it’s not to a point where it’s annoying. I also find myself more attracted to women when before my bisexuality was a 50/50 split.
Body odor is starting to smell different (not better or worse, just a more “male” smell I guess) and is a bit more noticeable.
Mental clarity. It gets better and better every day. Even if the changes are small, I find I look in the mirror and see myself a bit more every time.
Now this one I might just be lyin to myself but I think (and this is only because I already had high testosterone levels and my voice was already deep) my voice is starting to crack. Marginally.
My face is greasier and I’m having small breakouts.
Anger. Now, this might sound like a bad thing, but it manifests in different ways than it did before. I have a lot of issues with BPD rage and I’ve experienced not one episode since I’ve started. When the anger does come, I’ve been told to count to 20 and if I’m not angry anymore when I’m done, then it was probably just the T making me mad. I find it’s more frustration and it’s not intense, just more frequent.
Usually I’m not great at adjusting to change, and I heard about certain effects of T (hot flashes, anger, and sex drive most notably) and thought that they’d impact me really intensely which I was kind of worried about because I’m susceptible to chemical changes that impact my emotions but I can say this has only been a positive experience for me so far. The changes come slowly enough that it doesn’t fuck with my brain chemistry (another reason I chose weekly shots as opposed to every two weeks). I’m happier. I look forward to my life now, and I don’t mind the “undesirable” changes because those changes are as much of a part of my maleness as facial hair or a deep voice will be.
Rock on mothafuckas, and I’ll update you next week.

@kikker-oma here you go, one sickfic with Til & Abel ❤️
It was a beautiful day on the plateau. The sun was shining brilliantly, but its heat was tempered by the cooler winds of autumn, drying the heat and pushing the green from the leaves. Birds chirped as they gathered supplies for the oncoming winter, and squirrels were audibly scampering about on the thatched roof.
It was a perfect day. But Tilieth lay on the hard bed, miserable, curled in on herself. She’d awoken to an unpleasant cramping sensation, and she figured she knew what it heralded.
Tilieth hadn’t necessarily made plans for the day, but she’d wanted to check on her garden, and this ruined any chance of that. Or really, any motivation to do anything. The cramps were bad enough, but the accompanying nausea nearly brought her to tears.
The sun moved higher into the sky, making Tilieth miserable that she was stuck indoors, but she could hardly move. When she heard approaching footsteps, she started crying, feeling guilty but also not wanting to have to explain anything. She just wanted to be alone. But she also wanted to be held.
The door opened, and Abel shuffled inside, having patrolled the plateau and probably hunted a little. He paused as soon as he entered, immediately honing in on Tilieth, and she buried her face in her pillow.
“Til?” He asked quietly, walking towards her.
Tilieth tried not to cause a fuss, but the mere mention of her name, him just entering her space made her fall apart. She curled in even more, getting some relief from the pain, but her emotions were all over the place.
The first day was always the worst.
Abel paused, distressed and confused, and then his eyebrows rose in dawning comprehension.
Without a word, her husband exited the house, making Tilieth feel both happy that she didn’t have to explain anything or feel guilty and infinitely more alone.
When Abel returned a few minutes later, he had a hot water bottle and a cup of tea in his hands, and he knelt down on the floor so he was eye level with her as she lay in bed.
“I’m sorry, love,” he said softly, holding out the offerings.
Tilieth cried quietly, taking the gifts and feeling equal parts miserable and touched by his actions. Abel always tried to take care of her during this time of the month. The hot water bottle felt amazing against her abdomen, and some sips of the ginger tea helped with her nausea. She could still hardly move, but she wasn’t really in agony while she was still.
Abel laid his palms flat on the bed, resting his chin on them as he gazed at her and smiled. “I’m still in awe with women. Men may be able to physically fight better, but women can certainly endure more. I wouldn’t last in your shoes.”
Tilieth gave him a small smile in return, the tears threatening to return. She hated feeling like such an emotional mess - it wasn’t as if she wasn’t capable of tipping into this point on a regular basis, but she couldn’t stop herself at all when this happened.
Abel kept her silent company, shifting a little so he was simply sitting on the floor head resting on his arm, just a hair’s breadth from her. Eventually, her husband grabbed a book to keep himself preoccupied as he rested with her, letting her sniffle or reposition until, by evening, Tilieth finally scooted close enough to wrap her arm around his head and snuggle in close. The pain was easing, and tomorrow would be a better day.
When Tilieth realized nearly half the day had gone by without Abel moving, and she herself had only had the tea since she’d had no appetite, she poked her husband. Abel glanced up at her, half asleep from reading. “What is it, Til?”
Tilieth reached for the cup, and Abel sat up, taking it. He rose wordlessly, easing the hot water bottle out of her death grip against her abdomen, and went back outside. When he returned, both items were replenished, but Tilieth shook her head, even as she received them.
“You need to eat,” she eventually said.
Abel blinked, having seeming forgotten to, and Tilieth rolled her eyes, exasperated. Then her husband laughed. “Honestly, stop thinking about mothering everyone, Tilieth. You’re not feeling well.”
Tilieth’s emotions swung the opposite way, tears drying in an instant as her cheeks flushed in steadily growing annoyance. Abel recognized the look, and he straightened as if a superior officer had just walked into the room. He nodded with a mumbled, hasty acknowledgement, heading outdoors once more, and Tilieth relaxed.
It took a while before her husband returned, but she could smell the food cooking. Thankfully, the ginger tea had helped enough that the mere smell didn’t make her vomit. Then she recognized the smell, and her anger siphoned out of her in a heartbeat.
Hylian herb soup. It was a simple recipe, bone broth, some veggies and hylian herbs thrown together. He always made it for her when she wasn’t feeling well. He hadn’t made it in years.
When Abel came inside, he only had one bowl, and it was small. She knew he must have eaten his own helping outside, but he still offered her some in case she could stomach it.
Sitting up a little, Tilieth was thankful to recognize that it wasn’t torture to move as much, and with the fresh hot water bottle, she managed some sips of the soup.
“I’m sorry,” she muttered finally.
Abel shook his head. “It’s not your fault, love. Besides, your moods are nothing compared to Lyra’s. I was terrified of that girl’s adolescence.”
Although mentioning their lost daughter still hurt after all these years, the comment did manage to make Tilieth laugh. Their dear Lyra had her father’s temper far more than her mother’s.
Slowly, Abel settled in the bed with his book, and Tilieth finally managed to eat something for the day before snuggling into her husband’s embrace. Tomorrow would be a better day. She knew that. But, with Abel, even today wasn’t all that bad.

My health has been taking a dive again recently but it's become tradition for me to go to all of my friend's hockey games so I pushed myself out today and wound up passing out which. Okay, less than optimal HOWEVER. Tell me that isn't a perfect premise for a Style fic? Kyle stressed with school or work and slacking on his self-care and still forcing himself to Stan's hockey game. Stan sees him go down while he's on the ice and skates off mid-game to help him... sigh...
