Headstone Tunnel, Monsal Trail

My first image in my photography final piece. This photo shows the Headstone Tunnel, located along the Monsal Trail.I captured the original image with a high ISO to avoid having the image look dark, and with a low aperture to get the whole structure in focus.I noticed the green colours on the original image and wanted to enhance them, improving how natural they’d look. I also wanted to sharpen the image to improve the texture of the stones, and finally, I wanted to alter the light to make the top of the image look less overwhelmingly bright.I did all this using the sharpen and levels tools in Photoshop, and I am very pleased with the result. The plants growing along the edges of the valley now look much more natural and young, blending well with the darker, man made structures that line the same wall.One of my favourite features of this photo is how every shape is different: the vertical pillars, the diagonal rails, the curve on the tunnel. All this frames the image perfectly so that the admirer’s eye can be guided towards the tunnel, though still sustaining many points of interest around the landmark.
