This sketch was a bit trickier than usual.. The egg behind my sketch is the largest found dinosaur egg to date! The egg belonged to Saltosurus which is a member of the sauropod family (long necks). When I look online, Saltosaurus is spelt Saltasaurus & I can find very little information on it’s skull (maybe it hasn’t been found like a lot of sauropods). The painting next to the egg in the museum has the nostrils at the front hence why I drew them there, but most sauropods have higher set nostrils. The museum has to be right, right? Are there any Saltosaurus experts out there that could clear this up for me?

Head, Shoulders, Ink, & Bones: Camarasaurus 😍 - I’ve wanted to draw this Camarasaurus skeleton for years & am so stoked to finally get the chance to sit down & do so. Camarasaurus is one of my personal favorite “long neck” dinosaurs. They are some of the most commonly found dinosaurs in North America & paleontologists have even uncovered complete full skeletal remains. They typically ranged from 24-64 feet in length & weighed around 20 tons! - Fun fact: Early Brontosaurus remains were also displayed with Camarasaurus skulls before they found out Brontosaurus’s true identity.. - #headshouldersinkandbones is an art series where I visit different museums, sit down, & draw the dinosaur skeleton which inspires me the most. On this week’s very special episode of #headshouldersinkandbones, we visit the @fieldmuseum & encounter the largest, most well preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex ever discovered, Sue! - It has always been a dream of mine to see her in person so there was no way I was going to miss the opportunity to see & draw her while I was in Chicago for @wizardworld. Sue is a beast measuring a whopping 42 feet in length & 13 feet tall at the hips. Her skull alone weighs over 600 pounds! Scientists estimate that she had a bite force of more than 13,000 pounds, or the weight of 13 grand pianos! Sue is easily my favorite Tyrannosaurus skeleton alongside AMNH 5027 (the skeleton referenced for the Jurassic Park T-Rex) & well worth the visit if you’re ever in the area. Plus, that museum is insane! If you haven’t gotten to know me, you’ll soon learn that I am obsessed with dinosaurs. While out in Chicago for @wizardworld, there was no way I was leaving without visiting the @fieldmuseum. So, @donniedemonic & I woke up extra early before the convention & made our way through the madness of Chicago traffic (which is far worse than LA) to visit this coliseum of wonder. This place was INSANE! We got there before the doors opened, were over an hour late back to the convention, basically ran through the museum, & still didn’t have time to see everything! #headshouldersinkandbones - On this episode, we dive into the Early Permian Period (295-272 million years ago) to hang out with one of my favorite sailed beasts, Dimetrodon. I’ve been obsessed with this “dinosaur” since 1993 when I got a Jurassic Park toy of one (swipe to see). Some of you may not know that Dimetrodon actually isn’t a dinosaur at all due to the positioning of it’s legs. Dinosaurs have a hole in their hip socket allowing their legs to be positioned directly under their bodies. As you can see, Dimetrodon’s legs are sprawled out just like a.. REPTILE! I think I might have a problem.. - This sketch is of a leg of a Utahraptor. Did you know that in the movie Jurassic Park, the Velociraptors are really the size of a Utahraptor? Real Velociraptors are actually about 1.5 feet tall as compared to a 5.6 foot tall Utahraptor.
