So just as a ref for all of my interactions……This excellent drawing by my friend @sendingstone / Vernal is what Alwin actually looks like. He doesn’t have these features in Pokéverse (yet) because Tea did not envision Wyverians with more draconic features, but mainverse and fantasy verses are Free Real Estate, Babey and so I’ve decided to give Wyverians more draconic features. 

Apart from some very obvious draconic facial features, Wyverians also have tails, retractable claws, and scales all over their bodies; their feet are also definitely scaly, with scales blending with skin at the calves before turning into feet that look purely reptilian. Alwin’s tail has poisoned spikes on it like a Rathian because, also according with Vernal’s lore, different Wyverians are aligned with different wyvern species depending on their location. In addition to that, he has some bioluminescent spots along his body because his father being from Nua Te is an Astalos-aligned Wyverian. 

Why do I headcanon this? Because Capcom were cowards when it came to creating a race of fucking DRAGON people, that’s why. Like what’s the point of making an entire wyvern-aligned species if you’re just going to give them pointy ears and funny legs?

Alwin is Rutoh Village’s golden boy. He’s considered to be both the handsomest and the most talented man in the village, and to top it all off he had the perfect family life in a perfect home. He Rides, plays four different instruments (erhu/pipa/flute/violin), dances, draws, does calligraphy, and archery-wise, he’s the best shot in the village. Not to mention, he’s humble and wise and after Zellard’s betrayal, he takes Zellard’s position as Elder Maolo’s adviser and is the youngest person to do so that the village can remember. He truly has everything in life; the only thing he lacks is the love of his life--and that’s what makes him tragic.

……Still, though, I can see some muses getting annoyed with how perfect he is perceived to be--or making jokes about it. I do have a couple of plots already where characters resented him because his life seemed easy compared with theirs and I’d love to have some more. >:3

5. On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?

Like most people in the Monster Hunter world, Alwin prefers to use a pack rather than pockets. He usually keeps a wrapped Wyverian bread that’s a lot like lembas bread from world of Lord of the Rings so that he won’t go hungry during his travels. Next to it, he also keeps plenty of zenny in order to pick up more supplies. In there he’s also got a map, but there are some sentimental items as well: He likes to carry around Red’s old hunting knife as well as a wooden portrait of him that he’d engraved.

14. Does your character remember names or faces easier?

Names. Alwin grew up knowing everyone’s name and what they did in the village so that he could call upon them for help when he needed it.

(At least he is from what I can tell here--he’s generally modest, introverted, reliable, diligent, and highly analytical while also being anxious, perfectionistic, tending toward the critical side and set in his ways.) one good trait: His sense of service. one bad trait: His inability to let go of the past.

So as I mentioned in Alwin’s bio, he won’t let go after Red’s passing. In fact, in all of his verses, even the one where he and Red broke up, he’s known for not being able to let go of his old love. Rutoh notices how he always gets depressed around Red’s death anniversary on the first day of spring, how he participates in every equinox festival but the Spring one, and everyone in both Rutoh and Mahana have sayings about the sad bi longing he felt for his dead husband…

Leia, however, at some point just wishes he would move on. They’ve seen how he’s turned down potential romantic partners one after the other, and he’s done it for all the time they’ve known him. Eventually they grow impatient with him and just go off on him like. "All I wanted was another grandparent. And I know all you want is to find the love you used to have. Well guess what? You'll never find it again! But at least one of us can have what we want…"

They’re generally mild-mannered, but sometimes very capable of hard-hitting words. This is one of those times.
