The Gravel Wars had ended, the teams disbanded. With the Mann brothers dead and the Administrator vanishing soon after, the chaos finally subsided. Though Mann Co. was still operational, their primary customers no longer needed weapons, their stocks briefly tanked.

Dr. Quincy Norman couldn’t help but feel a bittersweet relief. The war was over. People weren’t getting hurt anymore, at least not in New Mexico. But that relief was tempered by a deep sense of loss. Team Ajax was gone—his friends, his teammates, the people who had been his family for so many years. Along with that was the loss of time and effort. How many years of life wasted on this forever war?

Quincy sighed deeply, adjusting the thin medical mask over his face as he knocked on the door of the Conagher household. Gently rocking back and fourth on his feet with a nervous energy. He had gotten the address from the return label on a letter Dell had sent him weeks ago.

Quincy winced at the thought of the promise he had made. He’d told Dell he’d let him see the blueprints when the war was behind them, when Dell retired from Mann Co. Now, that day had come. It was only right that Dell finally see his father’s handiwork. The war stole Fred’s time and Dell had to grow up without a father. The least Quincy could do for Fred is try to give Dell a more complete picture. Perhaps it would be easier to sleep at night.

"Comin'!" The sound of his boots echoing faintly as he made his way to the gray wooden door. The footsteps slowed, his hand twisting the doorknob to reveal a familiar face — a friendly one, at that.

His smile widened, the crinkles and wrinkles around his eyes deepening with genuine warmth. Even after seven years, Quinn didn't seem to age a day. God bless that man's genetics, he mused.

"Howdy, Quinn," he greeted warmly, his voice carrying the easy cadence of someone glad to see an old friend. "C'mon in," he added, stepping aside to make room.

After the war, he'd bought a piece of land back in his old hometown to settle down. He spent his days helping out folks around the neighborhood — fixing up broken things like fridges, lights, and even children's toys. In between lending a hand, he finally found time to work on some of his own projects, as well as his predecessors — those half-finished ideas and prototypes that had been gathering dust for years; the owners that had died and never see them through. One of which was the EMP grenades he'd never quite managed to perfect, still a stubborn thorn in his side.

Blueprints covered one entire wall of the living room, their edges curled and surfaces layered with dust, as though they'd been unearthed from someone's grave. Some of the drawings were faded to the point of illegibility, the result of years spent forgotten. The sofas and coffee table in the room looked almost untouched — clearly meant for guests — while Dell's real workspace was in plain view. His well-worn worktable sat nearby, cluttered with tools, gears, and sketches in various stages of completion. It was clear where he spent most of his time.

"Make yourself at home. I'll rustle up somethin' for ya," Dell said as he ambled off to the kitchen.

Baking had become a regular pastime for him after the war. It scratched the same itch as engineering, with all the measuring, mixing, and precise steps. He liked the rhythm of it, and folks around town didn't seem to mind him bringin' over batches of cookies or pies now and again. Pyro, bless their heart, was his biggest fan — couldn't keep their hands off his pastries if they tried.

Moments later, Dell returned with a plate of freshly baked cookies and two steaming cups of coffee. He set them down on the coffee table and gestured to the cookies.

"Made these this mornin’. Chocolate chip, mama's recipe," he said with a touch of pride, settling into a couch near Quinn. "Help yourself."

He promised her safety and guidance, and she had blindly assumed that he had the best of intentions. After all, it was Bonnie! Why shouldn't she trust him?]

[Alas, each of his promises were proven false. The rabbit led her to some sort of employees-only back room; the energy emanating from it felt malevolent, twisted, as did the bunny's intentions. His voice was as jolly as ever, but he loomed over her in a manner that suddenly terrified her. She had never been scared of Bonnie...but this presence no longer felt like Bonnie. This was something different.]

["It'll all be over soon." Cassidy could assume what that implied, and she was suddenly overcome by her horror. She feared for her life now more than ever. Her breathing grew frantic; she scrambled for the exit, stumbling over herself in the process. She fell to the ground in a heap, a trembling mess of helplessness and cowardice. She couldn't move anymore. She was glued, tethered to the spot. Tears welled in her eyes; she shut them, trying to blink them away. They fell anyway.]

when it came to moving out of her short term rental, florence made the choice to move into the same neighbourhood as elyse because of how kind and welcoming she had been to florence. it's something that she appreciates a lot, as while she's been someone who has made a habit of not having close friends in the places she settles in, she's learned that having a friend nearby can in itself be more rewarding than she remembered.

they have a girls night once a month –– even if it's just an hour to catch up quickly before they run to their respective shifts / plans. it's a small thing, but a reminder of their friendship and a good check-in moment if they haven't had one for a bit.

A little explanation-

Lab Rats is a human au where Cobs has created 14 specimen as test subjects. Basically a "created in a lab" au. Some have powers relating to their objects, while some of them don't. Unlike Cobs and his family, the subjects have object names such as OJ, Taco, etc.

you’re everything to him. before the accident, he wasn’t too open about his feelings. anything about his stressful home life as a child and his insecurity paled in comparison to his work, and you. but once everyone else abandoned him after the accident, he found himself lost in you. you saved him at a time when he wanted nothing more than to disappear, bringing him back to the real world with your love and affection. 

at first, he really doesn’t like talking about the accident. but it doesn’t take long for him to fall apart before you, trembling and crying as he vents. late in the night, you’ll soothe him, holding him close while he cries into the crook of your neck. 

johnathon’s still awkward, but he’s cockier. in spite of all the tragedy, he feels so powerful now. his initial appearance aside, johnny’s more confident now that he can literally control the entire multiverse. it makes him feel worthy of your love in a way that wasn’t present before he became the spot.  

he’ll say flirty things out loud that he wouldn’t dare tell you in the past, being more forward and upfront about his attraction towards you.

johnathon’s mischievous ass got the best powers to fuck around with. he’ll pop out of nowhere to scare the shit out of you and it sends him into a fit of giggles.

johnathon’s far more protective of you now. before the accident, he’d worry about you, but trusted that you were strong enough to fend for yourself. now? anything’s possible. it doesn’t matter if he trusts you when doesn’t trust anyone else. he likes knowing where you are and when you’ll be back home. he loathes the thought of anyone taking you away from him, especially spider-man. 

sometimes he’ll go out with you. nyc is dangerous so he’ll be by your side, looming in a horrible disguise with well-meaning intentions. he just wants to keep you safe.

he loves annoying you with his spot and hole puns. being with someone who accepts him really helped in regards to finding the good in his new powers.

you got him a kitty cat. johnny doesn’t really work anymore, so a lot of times he’s stuck at home alone. he tries so hard not to seem clingy but he can’t help but mope whenever you leave. when you first got cow, johnathon was a little insulted.

they became best friends within the span of 24 hours.

I think this is called a debrief? Someone mentioned we need to liaise with the field agents, specifically the 00s who are out in the field. For some reason this is done in the National Gallery (someone called Queue came up with this?). So, I had a wander yesterday to check in on them. It seems that almost everyone is accounted for except two agents, 006 and 008 (but I was told they tend to ignore communications...).

Let's see.

001 present and accounted for. It's a lovely painting.

Does 002 have a particular fondness for gothic architecture?? (Because I do, pls call me)

003 here as well and making me crave a seaside holiday...

004's meeting painting was a surprisingly small one, but boy does it make you feel things about ruins.

005 was a pleasure, mostly because it's one of *my* favourite paintings.

006 has gone dark (of course... 🙄), but...

...007 was there, and honestly? She scares me a bit.

008 is apparently in Dublin, presumably visiting the pubs while everyone here was asleep.

Big thanks to anyawen for this headcanon post, which inspired me to visit these paintings in the National Gallery when I was in London for trans pride! It was so much fun, and gave me something to see beyond sitting among Turner's paintings, as I usually do.

Very sporadically active, taking short and long hiatuses. Life is a chore we must all go through, and mine is filled with unplanned circumstances followed by heavy workloads. Muses and motivation come and go as well, so all that is required to interact with me is massive patience and empathy.

On another note, I have listed muses that I had high muse for on my carrd, so PLEASE look into it and try to send in interactions for muses with that label only UNLESS you are willing to wait until I have motivation to write the muse you want to interact with. Throughout, more or less muses will be placed on HIGH MUSE, so please take a peek every now and then to see which muses I have on HIGH MUSE. Thank you.
