MHA 2.12 - Todoroki vs. Bakugo - part 3

This is my first watch of MHA, so no spoilers please! 

You know it is tragic when Iida starts breaking the rules. I know he is a teen, but he has the build of a full grown 30 year old man. Look at those broad shoulders. 

At least he is alive. I guess this show is not the type to actually kill off characters, huh? I like that MHA has an optimistic tone (I say, staring at this poor man near death in a hospital bed). 

Oooooh, we get to meet more of the family. His sister is a cutie. Todoroki really came out swinging as a major character this season. I am excited to see how he develops over the course of the rest of the show. 

How must a Mom feel seeing a child after so many years apart. The last time she saw him was when she burned him. He was five, they lost so many years, and she didn’t get to see him grow up. 

THE SHADE! Deku can be under-the-radar snarky sometimes. Do not sass your mother, young man. 

I love that we got a mini character arc for Inko, who went from telling her son he could not be a hero to trying her best to support him. 

It is no accident that we get two mother-son relationship scenes back to back. Some comparisons are being drawn between the two situations. Deku has the benefit of his Mom’s love and support. He has a secure relationship with her to the point that he is able to take it for granted a bit, with his sass about how worried she is. He is a little dismissive even (typical teen). Probably used to her fussing, lol, they are both super sweet.

Whereas, Todoroki believed his Mom did not support him (burning his face and all) until he unlocked his memories of her during the tournie. Now he is going to face his Mom and past, because he knows how important those connections are to moving forward on his own path to becoming a hero. 

This is the funniest thing this show has ever done. I laughed so much I almost choked. Bakugo really is just like that.

Is that Bakugo’s Mom? They really decided this episode should mother hard.Yet, another mom-son dynamic to compare here, but we only get a tiny bit of her. She’s just yelling at him to shush it. I want to meet her, please, don’t be all we get of Bakugo’s mom. 

They really decided to show us tons of family members this episode, we have Iida’s bro drama, Todo-sis and Todo-mom, Baku-mom, and good old Inko. I want to meet everybody’s family, it makes the characters feel more real and fleshed out.

He doesn't really start working, but occasionally when Compress has a lot of legal papers to sort through, he takes on a handful of the files. Has been studying law since he was a child so that he knew every form of villainy and how to get away with things that should probably be illegal but managed to slip under the radar. If this is as much public unrest as they can create without breaking their parole and ending up back in Tartarus, then he's happy to lend a hand. 

He's going through one of those files when his phone starts buzzing. It's already past two, which means that he's lost five hours to the papers without noticing, but he doesn't have anywhere he's supposed to be today, so it doesn't really matter. He is confused then, when he finds it's Midoriya's name popping up on his caller ID. Not supposed to have a check-in until tomorrow. 

"What do you want?" He asks in loo of greeting. 

Midoriya's voice comes back, the sounds of sirens and commotion in the background. "Oh, uh, have you seen the news today?" 

"No," but as soon as the hero asks, he's reaching for the remote and turning the TV on. He clicks over to the news and sees that a recap of Endeavor's, and by extension Midoriya, Bakugo, and Shoto's, most recent fight looked like. A villain with some sort of quirk that causes intense vibrations got backed into a corner and set off a big blast of them in an office district. Four buildings collapsed. "Why are you calling me, hero?" He still barely tolerates Midoriya and All Might. Only bothers to be passively civil to the former because for some reason Dabi and Toga really like Bakugo and Midoriya is important to the angry blond for some reason. He thinks that maybe the sidekicks are dating, but he's never cared to get clarification on the point. 

"Uravity is in Jaku and can't get here to help us shift some of this rubble, and Shoto's ice can't hold it up forever without risking killing the people trapped inside. Would you be able to--" 

"No." 

"Please, Shigaraki, a lot of innocent people will die if--" 

"It doesn't matter, the answer is 'no'." He's not a hero, he's not a tool for the heroes to use when they want something. Midoriya is lucky that Spinner really wants him to come to his next tournament or he would decay the brat just for suggesting it. 

"Gimme the phone, Deku!" 

"Kacc--" There's some shuffling and then Bakugo's voice comes through a lot more clearly. 

"Listen here you shriveled, scaly-necked motherfucker, get your ass over here and make us a fucking door!"  Before he can say no or hang up, Bakugo keeps going. "Not because you care about innocent people," says the last part like a pointed jab at Midoriya. "But because if you don't, heroes who have incidents that cause mass casualties have to go on a mandatory two week leave of duty. Which means Endeavor will be home for two weeks and you and Staples won't get a moment of peace to be fucking gross." 

Tomura pauses. Dabi being trapped in the house with Endeavor for two weeks will be hell for his firefly. "Are you sure you don't want to be a villain?" He grumbles, getting up to grab his coat and shoes. 

He can hear the vicious smile in the blond's voice when he says. "Fuck that, let's see how you pass as a hero, mop head." And hangs up.

Rembering how Shigaraki had ordered him to stay out of sight at first, mentioning how shifty Midoriya can be. He did as was asked, propped up on the metal bar of the foundation of the warehouse he stays still and observes. Stealth was no specialty of the hero but right now the shadows are his to settle in. Cloaked in darkness he lurks over the two villains- no.. now to be named coworkers, teammates. Sharing a simple goal. Keigo had worked alongside snakes for years, he knows when to hold his tongue and obey. Though it’s been getting harder to do so, one day they’d cut it out. He’s sure of himself, thinking back to the order of the HPSC to infiltrate. An offer he could not refuse, that’s what they had called it. But that was no offer. It was a command. Besides Endeavor he hadn’t the slightest of partners, but what he lacks in strength. The other had filled. If he had been here they could’ve crushed Shigaraki, maybe even with ease. His feathers rustle him out of thought. Focus, Keigo.

The golden eyes fall on a shorter boy next to Shigaraki, the short buzz still in his wings tell him that the other is not only hostile but seems.. worried, no nervous? There were a whole lot of signs coming from the green haired boy which were for once, not easy to place. He clenches his jaw but immediately tells himself to cool it.

“Exactly, you’re perfect to show the new guy the ropes.” Sounds. Well.. time to make an entrance. As he swoops down he stops just before landing, his broad wingspan taking up space in an instant as the gush of wind roars through the empty warehouse. It creaks and howls as if it’s alive.

For a moment, a second, the hero is met with a sea of darkness. A black and green cloud, no storm was heading towards him “Deku, heel.” Was all that was said by the Decay user before all sound died down once again. The storm disappearing just as fast as it had mended into nothingness.

The undercover hero tilts his head, he’d heard of Izuku Midoriya before. Defected UA student turned criminal, but that doesn’t just happen does it? What reason’s could a teen like him have to ditch a dream for a life of pain. It had been on the HPSC’s radar and they were fools not to go after it earlier. Infiltrate, gather and save. Isn’t that what Hawks is used for? If only they could see this kid now, they’d cry differently. His sharp golden eyes look over the pair of villains, both younger than himself in a shocking turn of events. Both filled with rage. He can do nothing but match their intensity. He knows how it is to be locked up in a cage. For neither a Hound nor a Hawk a good outcome to life but often the start.

“I know it’s probably not what you’ve been waiting for, Midoriya, but right now you’ve got the strings in hand.” He says, “I won’t slow you down.” He adds, Keigo might be speaking in riddles but he can see it in the glint of the boy’s eyes, he knows who he is. Though, it seems like he has forgotten who he himself, is.

📗 When called upon with little information, Deku's nerves heighten every sense as he expected the worse: The League finding out. He kept himself isolated and silent as a grave to prevent any chance of his plan discovered.

Approaching the massive warehouse, edges peeling and structure rusted from neglect, he wondered what did Shigaraki mean by come here prepared for a meeting? He did not like the knot settling in his stomach as he carefully pushed open one of the doors, waiting for Danger Sense to warn him of a trap. Even as none came, he still didn't breathe any easier.

"Right on time as always."

Jade gaze trailed over to the voice of his leader, lounging upon a few stacked boxes, severed hand gracing his face as usual. Deku remained in place as the door slowly closed behind him. A quick scanned of his surroundings resulted in nothing in the clearly abandoned hanger, save for Shigaraki.

"Come."

Like the loyal hound he presented himself to be, Deku obeyed though his mask hid his gritted teeth, calmly approaching his master. Danger Sense acted up with every footstep, walking through a minefield, waiting for one to go off by one wrong move. He stopped once close enough but something kept tugging at him to look above. Focus fixated on Shigaraki though.

"You spend a lot of time by yourself. That's not good for you." A sigh. "So we've decided to get you a partner."

"A what?" It sounded more like a spy to keep watch on him. Damnit! "I have not had trouble with success on my own."

"Exactly. You're perfect to show the new guy the ropes."

A growl nearly slipped if not for another pang, like a hand urging him to look up with a hold of his chin, striking his head. Once it came again, he could not ignore and faced upwards, catching a winged figure in the rafters. Blackwhip immediately unraveled, tendrils snarling around his body, ready to tear down whom ever-- Wait. Red feathers? Was that... Hawks? The number two hero?

"Deku, heel."

"The first time you hear Izuku moan your name, its with you hiding on the other side of his closet door, your hand clapped over your mouth in shock.”

A/N: im placing this before the sexual side of their relationship begins. A prelude of sorts, if you will.

All things considered izuku’s room was...not as gross as you expected a staple college aged guys dorm room to be. It was cluttered but not disgusting, posters of comics and figurines and manga and some clothes strewn about, everything kind of frenzied and haphazard. It was so incredibly deku, a secret smile pulled at your lips, even though your reasons for being here were less than innocent

He’s wearing fucking pink. Because of course he is, of course izuku is humble and comfortable in his masculinity enough to pull off a bright pink t-shirt. It hugs his chest too, and you have to wonder if literally any of his clothes fit him and the tits he decided to grow in college. His image is so utterly imposing, his smile so bright, and laugh so airy, it sends butterflies flipping through your stomach at just the sight of him and that makes you want to vomit. Your lips curl in a sneer and you’re walking towards him and the group of friends he’s talking to as if on reflex. 

Stupid, lovely deku. You knock your shoulder into his as you pass, hard enough that his books clatter and fall to the floor, scattering. And then those green eyes are on you, giving you his attention and your body feels alive, your blood cells buzzing under your skin even as he frowns. The dimples on his freckled face fall as he takes you in. Yes, you think, look at me, see me, want me. 

Out loud you say. “Watch where you’re going, stupid deku” and you’re looking at him like he’s the dirt under your shoe. He’s not. He’s the center of your universe. Your world tilts around his axis. “Pink isn’t your fucking color by the way”. it is. 

Izuku huffs. He’s past the point where he used to turn as red as a tomato and duck his head whenever you stood in front of him, but he’s still deku at the end of the day. An easy target. “If looking at me bothers you so much you could just ignore me.” He crouches down to pick up his things. His words make you itch, if you could ignore him, you wouldn’t fucking be here. Its because he exists too much, that you want to push him down so much. 

You step your manicured foot onto his notebook right as he’s about to grab it. He tugs at it, you dont budge, and he looks up at you, exasperated. “Can i have my notebook, please?” 

Why is he so fucking pretty? God, you want to throw up. You dig your heel in further, covering the flutter you feel in your chest with a practiced sneer. “I like the way you say please, deku.” You lean down a little, “Say ‘your highness’ and i’ll move” 

It’s a thrill, seeing the way his jaw sets, his brow furrows, his eyes go annoyed. Sweet, sweet, friendly izuku. You’re the only one he looks at like this, like he wants to throttle you. But he won’t. You see his adams apple bob, his cheeks dust pink, even as he glares. “No” 

You pause. It’s not the first time he’s gotten snippy with you, but the conviction behind it is new. You feel something in your stomach give a jump, your blood thrumming in your ears. You jerk your foot towards you, sliding his notebook out from his hands and standing completely on top of it with both your feet now. Your sticky lips, glossy and plump, spread into a mocking grin, “No? Do i need to slam you into some lockers and take you lunch money?” You feel a thousand feet tall, towering above him still kneeling, you on the high ground, looking down at him below you, where he can’t reach you. Can’t ever see the truth. “C’mon pansy, you’re already on your knees anyway” 

But he isn’t anymore. He jerks to a stand, and now he’s taller than you, but you puff your chest out, not letting that affect you. It always affects you. Not that he knows or ever notices. Your eyes are widening when he steps forward so you’re practically nose to nose and chest to chest. “I don’t have time for you” he snaps, irritated. And then he’s stepping away as suddenly as he stepped up, the rest of his things gathered in his arms, he shakes his head at you, a tendril of that mossy mousey hair falling into his eyes. “I gotta get to class” 

And then he’s gone, brushing by you, disengaging. You stand there, your breath stuck in your chest, not moving. ‘I dont have time for you’ over and over again rings through your head like a mantra. You step off his notebook robotically and kick it across the floor. It bangs against a wall and you feel your fists clench, nail beds digging into your palms harshly. ‘I dont have time for you’ 

You turn on your heel, away from the direction of your class, fury blinding you. Anger in place of humiliation, vindication in place of being humbled. You don’t know what crawled up his ass and made him think he was above you all the sudden, but you weren’t having it, not the fuck at all. 

And that’s how you found yourself snooping through izukus dorm, with the intention of finding some kind of dirt, or something to hold over his stupid head. He didn’t have time for you? How dare he act like he was better than you, like he had things more important to do than to indulge you. You were still so mad you wanted to throw a tantrum, kick and scream and claw his eyes out. Straddle his stupid broad waist and shake him until all he saw was you, you, you. 

You really hated him. Hated that because of him you were basically a bully because any attention from him was attention you thrived and lived under. Maybe if you weren’t so prideful, so disgusted by the weakness of your own gooey emotions for him, you would have tried to be the center of his attention in a nicer way, but as it was you were in too deep. This was the sick game you played, and losing wasn’t an option. 

You hated how much that made you similar to bakugou in a way. You didn’t like that guy, and even weirdly so, you wanted to gouge his fucking eyes out for the way he treated and talked to izuku. Was it jealousy or possesivness that drove you to want to be the only one who could rile izuku? You wondered, sometimes, if bakugou felt the same way about you. 

It was the loss of control, for you. Better yet, it was the way you liked the loss of that control. You had always prided yourself on being strong willed and a perfectionist. But whenever your eyes so much as grazed izukus, all your emotions went rattling around your stomach in sick twisted ways, giving you goosebumps, making you...nervous. It was a crush that had turned into an obsession, wasn’t it? And you wanted to make izuku suffer not only for invoking those messy feelings, but for not seeming to return them as well. If he couldn’t love you or want you romantically or sexually, you’d force yourself onto his radar and into his head until thinking about anyone else was impossible. Until you squirmed under his skin as much as he squirmed under yours. 

Acting like you didnt exist was unacceptable. Obviously you’d slacked off on your taunts and actions, if he could just brush past you so easily, not taking your bait. You needed to even the playing field again, and by even you meant you needed to be towering above him again. 

Towering over him so you dont have the time to think about how much you want to be under him, your mind whispers at you as you pick through his room, trying to find anything incripting. Someone like izuku would probably have something utterly embarrassing like a diary or some weird porn magazines, shameless, helpless guy that he was. 

You huff as you open his drawer next to his bedside, nearly slamming it back shut in shock at what you see there. 

You’re not stupid. You’re a healthy, young woman with an active sexual imagination and access to the world wide web, to porn. 

Izuku has a fleshlight in his drawer. Izuku has a sexytoy. Izuku. And its green.

You feel kind of squirmy now, hot and uncomfortable as you shift around and try to gather your wits back about you. Revenge, that’s what you’re here for. 

With a shaky exhale you turn away from his dresser, your thoughts flitting around your head like annoying gnats. What, who, does he think about when he…? What does he look like? What does his...c- You shake your head, slap your cheeks, trying to center yourself from the images floating around, flustering you and distracting you. 

You’re in the middle of lifting the covers on his bed to peek under it, see if there’s anything there, when you hear the handle on his door jiggle. You freeze, every muscle in your body locked frozen like a deer in headlights as the knob twists, and then catches. Right. You’d picked the lock with one of your hair clips and then made sure to lock it again behind you just in case something like this happened. And by the, “Ugh” on the other side of the door, yep that’s definitely izuku. You’re shoved out of your shocked state, and bolting for his closet door as you hear the jingle of his keys twist in the lock, trying your best to close the door as quietly as possible behind you, it swishing shut barely a second before the door to his dorm opens and you hear him step in. 

Class must have let out early or something, you think huffily, gently rearranging yourself into a comfortable position on a pile of his clothes as he shuffles around his room. You hear the thumb of him dropping his books, the shuffle of his feet, the clutter of him taking off his shoes and the squeak of his mattress as he plops down on it. 

You tuck your knees to your chest and roll your eyes, picking at your leggings as you wonder how long you’ll have to hide before he goes to the bathroom or something so you can leave. It’s fucking stuffy in his closet already, the air hot. Your hand touches the soft fabric beneath you, realizing you’re sitting on one of his hoodies. Its too dark to see which one it is, but you imagine it as your favorite red one. Maybe you’d steal it as compensation for him making you sit and wait in his dumb closet while he probably stared at the ceiling with no thoughts in his dumb brain.

You hear him sigh, loud and dramatic, and then a muffled scream/groan into his pillow. Your lips twitch, he’s such a fucking drama queen. 

Your little smile drops off your face when you hear the sound of his drawer opening.  

Oh god. Oh no. 

Your face feels like there are embers burning under it as you hear the unmistakable sound of clothes being shucked, a zipper and and then flop, and then….a slick wet sound and a sigh of relief. 

Your eyes feel like they are bugging out of your head. Izuku is really about to fuck his fleshlight with you hiding in his closet with him none the wiser. You feel suddenly embarrassed and hot all over, hiding your face in your knees as you hear him let out a moan. A loud one. 

You’re on fire, every part of you. You don’t think you can take this, don’t think you can sit through this and listen to this, think you should just burst out of his closet and use your bravado to somehow flip the situation and make him feel humiliated for getting off in the privacy of his own room, like he’s in the wrong even though you had violated so many boundaries for even being here right now. 

You could do it too, you know. You’re good at twisting things, at powering through the complicated mess of flustered feelings izuku makes you feel and making it his fault, making him back down and cower. You could do it...you’re uncurling your legs and pushing your hands under you in the middle of getting up to do so when-

IV: TodoDeku. Status: “Precious”

-Shoto’s “Midoriya is in Danger” radar was highlighted in both manga and anime. 4th User’s quirk, who?

Anime Highlights: “Midoriya hasn’t returned yet.” “Where’s Midoriya?” “Midoriya! Grab my hand!” “Have some of my Soba Midoriya.” Shoto gets it. His emotional support friend is a danger magnet. Manga Highlights: Two Words. “Precious Friend.” Deku comes in w/o arms or legs fighting for Shoto and Shoto’s honor. These two spent the entire year worried sick about each other, and going against all odds to save each other. Precious Friends indeed. TDDK fans ate.

Heroes Rising: Shoto kicks some dog ass and then faints thinking of Deku (and Bakugo but shh. Let the shippers rejoice.) On the bright side, we have a 3rd movie coming featuring “The Three Musketeers” so shippers of TdDk can HOLD TIGHT to what’s to come.

Troubling Signs?: Shoto still doesn’t know about OFA and he’s gonna have LOTS of questions after this arc. Will Deku finally tell him? If not, it could make or break the ship.

V. TodoBaku. Status: “Shining through the city with a little funk and soul.”

-Who knew the greatest comedy duo we needed was Shoto and his hot headed “friend” or not friend? It still remains unclear to Shoto. Regardless, these two had a fun year.

Anime Highlights: “I wanna see your cute face”, disco dancing, and more fun in the provisional license training. Plus the OVA added some cute moments between the two such as Bakugo staying behind to save Todoroki during a dangerous excercise and his adorable plan neatly animated for us. I’d say TodoBaku’s really were resurgent and energized this year!

Manga Highlights: Shoto, that is not how you properly Catch a Kacchan, I’m sorry. But at least you did it you mad lad. As with Deku, Shoto spent the year worried sick about Bakugo. While the anime let us have our fun, these two were suffering in the manga.

Heroes Rising: Again, Shoto put a dog down and then fainted with Bakugo on his mind (and Deku but we ignore that. Shush.) TodoBaku’s have the 3rd movie to look forward to which is bound to have some amazing content!

Troubling Signs?: They have a lot of trauma to deal with. And a lot of Deku to worry about. I also imagine Shoto will be hurt about being left out of the OFA secret. We shall see what 2021 has to offer.

VI. KiriMina. Status: Unbreakable.

-Changing your hairstyle to match the gal who inspired you in middle school? Sorry y’all but if Mina were a guy, I’d say that’s gay af.

Anime Highlights: We got that backstory Bois. Red Riot’s origin might as well make him be called Pink Riot. Again with Hori and the childhood friends though I wouldn’t exactly call them friends. They just went to the same middle school but Kirishima was highly influenced by Mina’s Chivalrous spirit! A ship is born!

Manga Highlights: The influence is mutual! Mina creates a move based on Kirishima’s unbreakable and we all let out a collective “awwww”. Also in the war arc, we got Kirishima making sure Mina’s chivalrous spirit shines through right into Gigantomachia’s mouth! KiriMina may just be the unsung MVP’s of this arc.

VII: KiriBaku. Status: Crumb Collectors.

-2020 was an uneventful year for KiriBaku but Bones made sure there were crumbs aplenty! Thank God for OVA’s!

Anime Highlights: KiriBaku’s did thrive in one episode! Kirishima reflects on the sludge incident and evolves his quirk based on inspiring words from Bakugo! Hooray! KiriBaku’s can thrive in their blossoming friendship. The OVA also has Kirishima (and Kaminari but shh) once again following Bakugo’s lead when it comes to the training excercise. How can you not? He’s so manly!

Manga Highlights: Not gonna lie. There is nothing much here this year. I did find a teeny tiny flake in Aizawa’s flashback. Kirishima and Bakugo are sitting next to each other. Oh! And at the hot pot gathering, Bakugo sits next to Kirishima! Eat your crumbs KiriBaku’s! There’s always next year!

Heroes Rising: Kirishima hangs with a lazy Bakugo and delivers the most hilarious line in the whole movie. “Silly Bakugo, there won’t be villains here!” Hahah... Silly Bakugo. Oh you~ KiriBaku’s can inhale the fact that those two sure love to hover around each other!

Anime Highlights: Three words. Be. My. Cane. The OVA’s helped fan the flames of the BkDk hearts with a surprise! Deku tops! Not only that, we got a lovely shoulder tap of encouragement in the canon material. While in season 4, Deku’s primary focus was Eri. Bakugo and Deku still had their moments to be hella gay.

Manga Highlights: Where do I even begin? I guess we’ll just cut to the chase with Bakugo Katsuki: Rising. We finally saw Bakugo’s true feelings manifest for Deku and if getting stabbed for him isn’t the ultimate showing of love, then idk what is. BakuDeku’s rounded out the year with the Volume 29 cover AND the volume 29 cover drafts to eat at our heart strings. Overall, their relationship got the spotlight in the manga this year. And we’re bound to start 2021 with a dramatic confrontation. Hand holding seems to be the key with these two and it didn’t stop with Heroes Rising...speaking of.

Heroes Rising: The entire movie. Like....yeah. That’s it. [OP, your bias is showing. You have to be SPECIFIC.] {But random criticizer in my head, if I lay out the entire plot of the movie, my post will be too long} [OP....] UGHHHH Okay okay. The POPSICLE MELTING. THE HAND HOLDING. - first things first: i feel like your quirk is similar to marvel's daredevils' abilities. when using your quirk, your remaining senses get really powerful, and you have a radar-like ability. however, these are also a weakness. in this state, your super vulnerable to loud/strong noises and scents - also, you have a guide dog. you're not able to use your quirk all the time, and you have a bit of a difficult time navigating through crowds - this is also to give off the impression that you're weaker than you actually are - when you first meet mina, you're just leaving the main office on the first day of school. while ua is understanding to their students who have disabilities, they do still need paperwork to be filled and filed away. your dog, june, is usually very well behaved and follows what she was trained to do, but she startles you when she lets out a single bark. thinking that they had startled you, someone introduces themselves as mina, and ask why you have a dog with you, and if she can pet said dog. you tell her your name, introduce june, and that at this time mina wasn't allowed to pet your dog since she's on duty. - since then, she guides you places and makes sure to warn you about things coming up even despite the fact that you have a guide dog who is more than capable of doing that she likes holding your free hand - she's always the one to introduce you both to new people, and she always makes sure to include you in on any bakusquad shenanigans - speaking of bakusquad, they all love you. even bakugo, and thats saying something. bakugo sees you as someone he's truely able to let loose when sparing with, kirishima likes working out with you, denki love getting up to mischief with you, sero likes getting all deep and philosophical with you, and mina loves that you're able to match her energy - it doesn't take too long for her to confess to you, saying that she doesn't care that you can't see. don't take it the wrong way please!! she actually finds it inspiring that, despite not being able to see, you wanna train to be a hero - she goes from introducing you as 'this is my best friend y/n' to 'this is my boyfriend, y/n' - shopping dates! while you can't see what you're wearing, you are able to let mina know what fabric types you do and don't like. ie, you like very soft fabrics as opposed to the stiffer/scratchy kind - you have pretty good grades, mostly a's and b's with maybe 1 c. the paper you use for writing your answers has enough ink on the lines where their raised a bit (idk if this is actually a thing, just pretend it is if it isn't already) - aizawa is really hard on you, but not because he thinks you're weak. it's because villains aren't gonna go easy on you just because you're blind, in fact, they'll probably underestimate you, and he's just trying to simulate what that'll feel like - when you're not hanging out with the bakusquad, you're hanging out with the dekusquad. admittedly, you're not as good of friends with the dekusquad, but y'all get along pretty well. deku likes asking you questions about pretty much anything, uraraka likes studying with you, iida thinks that you have a pretty good sense of justice - most of the girls at ua find you to be one of the more handsome boys on campus, and they find your dog to be the absolute cutest. to mina, tho, you're the most handsome, and your dog is definitely her favorite one :)

Thoughts on Spinner being the only one near AFO on the chapter?

So. Way back in Chapter 298, All For One asked the remnants of the League to watch over Shigaraki Tomura(‘s body) while he rests. It seemed only Spinner actually listened and did as requested. ‘Touya and the others’ (Skeptic, Toga…? Did she ever regroup with the League?) apparently refused to be nap nannies; and though they’re still around working with AFO, they seem to be more off doing their own thing (at least for now?)

In any case, “unlike the others,” Spinner played bodyguard. It is a bit ambiguous: specifically AFO’s bodyguard? Or AFO’s in Shigaraki’s body? If the latter - which I think is most likely since it’s what the flashback refers specifically to - then of course! Spinner cares deeply about Shigaraki; because that care probably extends to Shigaraki’s flesh and blood being, of course he’ll be by his leader and friend’s side. It’s the thread that’s been going on ever since MVA: Spinner has become/is the one closest to Shigaraki, and continues to prove himself to be so.

This does mean he has to be close to AFO too; and so, inevitably, Spinner’s now on AFO’s radar - in fact, more than just acknowledging Spinner is there, AFO has a role in mind just for Spinner. It’s AFO shenanigans all around, and Spinner’s involved whether he wants it or not: hearing about schemes firsthand; learning some of the inner workings of the underworld; knowing about One For All; just being AFO’s chat buddy. That’s the tendrils of the main plot slithering nearby, and I only hope that they’ll grab and entangle Spinner deeper into the thick of things - AFO vs OFA, Deku vs Shigaraki - thus making Spinner firmly part of the main storyline. That would be the DREAM. Please, Horikoshi-sensei. 🙇🏻‍♀️

The chapter is also what I had really wanted for nearly the whole year - to see Spinner and All For One interaction. I’ve said before that i’m real interested to see the two of them, because the potential of their interplay is excellent:

On one side, you’ve got Spinner, loyal to Shigaraki Tomura, the hollow, destructive Villain terrorizing the country, and to his vision of an empty horizon… and also the guy Spinner bonded with over video games, the kindred spirit he came to like as a friend. On the other side, you’ve got All For One, evil bastard extraordinaire, the man who created Shigaraki Tomura, Symbol of Fear, who cultivated the very rage inside Shigaraki that Spinner had been inspired by, who has promised that all their desires will come to fruition, but has taken Spinner’s friend away to some quirky mind void. This is what makes everyone ask the question: Will Spinner help save Shigaraki from AFO? Which is really asking, What will Spinner choose if it comes down to it, his long-held resentment and needed catharsis or his new friend’s well-being? The legacy of AFO’s evil that will give him that empty horizon, or breaking away from all of that even if it means never seeing that bleak and twisted wonder?

That’s good stuff.

Stuff we are already starting to see here in this Chapter 329. AFO acknowledges Spinner as loyal, (acknowledges him as being, in the words of anon, the only one near) and then dangles two things in front of Spinner: 1) Supporting Shigaraki (via supporting AFO’s ambitions) 2) Changing the anti-heteromorphic society that had ostracized Spinner. Both are exactly what Spinner wants. And here, even better, AFO has portrayed the two desires as one and the same, so all Spinner has to do is simply follow along.

Yet Spinner isn’t biting.

See, Spinner is the type of guy to wear his giant dumb heart on his sleeve. See: shouting out his Stain dreams during the Training Camp Raid; see: spilling his backstory to the League. Screaming at Trumpet about why he’s fighting the fight. Giving Toga that ‘you’d better come on back, y’hear’ speech. Basically telling AFO he misses Shigaraki. He doesn’t skip out on the facial expressions either.

It’s when he’s uncomfortable(?) or feeling disgruntled(?) that he turns taciturn and withdrawn.

And I’d say that’s him this chapter. He’s not forthcoming with his thoughts, if he’s got any issue with AFO’s plans he’s keeping his mouth shut, and he’s carefully schooled his expressions into a neutral grimace for most of the chapter. When AFO finally strikes at something close to heart - heteromorph discrimination, the driving motivation behind Spinner’s decision to join the League - he finally reacts…

But only a little.

(There’s also something about the paneling and colors. The bits about Spinner’s past is against a dark background, and positioned as if at the back of his head. His face is against a white, blank background, no shock lines or gloomy mist. what are you feeling, Spinner???)

Mostly, Spinner is looking… pensive? Hesitant? Hard to say, but it’s not the open, wide-eye looked he had when listening to Shigaraki’s dream.

Shigaraki mentions ‘empty’ and Spinner goes GASP. All For One repeats back his history, calls him a ‘nobody’, and Spinner… looks on. Continues to not show strong emotions even in the last panel we see of him in the chapter.

IMO, All For One is trying to coax his cooperation and loyalty, knowing exactly what to give, but Spinner has guarded himself off.

After the ‘abandoning Mr. Compress/Machia/Toga’ stunt at Jaku plus the realization his leader is not who he is, Spinner has good reason not to trust All For One, especially concerning Shigaraki’s will/dreams/well-being. So despite the offers being exactly what Spinner wants (supporting Shigaraki, a changed world), I think he’s skeptical of throwing his full weight behind AFO, the man responsible for Spinner’s broken team and missing gamer buddy.

Already Spinner might be placing more weight on his bond with Shigaraki Tomura rather than the world AFO is promising him. (which is a false choice, mind you - Spinner can have both Shigaraki back and a better, changed world - but that requires AFO completely out of the equation, which isn’t possible yet.) This is just not what he envisioned with Shigaraki Tomura, which is still where Spinner’s heart is.

 You could easily pummel him into the ground- but you didnt want to waste your energy on somebody who didnt deserve to have your energy wasted on in the first place

So you continually took the anger that was caused by Mineta’s perverted staring

The icing on the cake though was when you felt a light squeeze on your rear, making you shoot around in shock

There he was, his hand in midair and this disgustingly blissful expression on his face

“Did you JUST-” you practically yelled out, rage and embarrassment making you begin to turn red

“I couldnt help it- it just looked so touchable-” he said, his hand about to touch you on your ass again

You took off in a run, Mineta making grabby hands behind you

You finally found Bakugo, who was paired with Yaomomo

“Katsuki!” you’d yell, running into his arms

He instantly noticed something was wrong- you were cuddled into his neck, giving a very pale looking Mineta a dirty look

“What the hell is going on?” he asked, his face harsh and serious

“He-he,” you gulped, the embarrasment rising, “he touch my, uh-”

Bakugo didnt need to hear anymore- he was concerned Mineta would do this, and now his fear became into reality

He internally kicked himself- he should have known Mineta would pull some pervy shit like that on you- he should have made sure you would have been okay

But that guilt quickly got overtaken by an incontrollable rage

“Did you just touch my girlfriend you fucking pervert?” he’d growl, his voice dangerously low

That meant shit was going down

Mineta gulped, his face paler than a sheet- Bakugo then grabbed him by the front of his shirt, dangling a terrified Mineta in the air

“Where?!”

“Huh?” Mineta asked in fear

“Where the hell did you touch her you idiot?!”

“Her-uh-her-butt-but-” Mineta sqeuaked out, trying to form some sort of excuse

You and Momo had to restrain Bakugo as he started going on a rampage, screaming all kinds of profanities

“You fuckng extra!! Im going to kill you! Shes my girl- you have no fucking right to touch her! Do that one more time and Ill blow you ass up! You hear me?! You so much as look at her and your ass will be seven feet under in your own ashes!”

Yeah- Whenever Mineta now sees you he walks the other way, and he hasnt bothered you since

Deku is very oblivious to Mineta’s harassment

He quickly (and permanently) deletes it, so Mineta can’t go into his recently deleted, and hands it back to him

“Don’t you ever, EVER do that again.” The threat seemed simple but the way Midoriya voice was full of ice and his eyes on fire made Mineta’s skin turn cold

sorry if this one seems longer than the rest!

It was the end of the year and Yaomomo had invited everyone to her house for a big summer celebration pool party!

Of course everyone was excited- Yaomomo was rich and her house was beautiful and massive! Also she was the best hostess anyone could imagine

Mineta was excited for another reason- he couldn’t wait to see all the girls in bathing suits of their own choice, not the dumb leotard-like ones the school made them wear

Secretly hoped they were as skimpy as possible

Momo had invited all the girls the night before to a massive sleepover- you all went shopping for new suits at a beach themed boutique

Of course it was super expensive, but the owners of the shop were friends of Yaomomo’s parents and gave you all a FAT discount

Everyone was super happy with their suits- yours was all red,  with a strappy red top, the bottom also matched in color and were slightly high waisted and showed off the sides of your thighs

The next morning you all spent time getting ready and helping Momo prepare to when everyone else came

Everyone started trickling in and greeting each other, getting snacks supplied by Momo and swimming or dancing to the “Top 50 Songs” playlist blasting outisde

You were in the kitchen getting some punch with Mina when Kirishima and Bakugo came in

Bakugo looked like he would rather be anywhere but there, while Kirihsima was just excited to find you and have some fun!

When Kirihsima saw you- his mouth dropped- you looked seriously stunning and he couldnt make his heart stop pounding so hard

Also your wearing red- he can try to act as chivalrous as he wants but he cant deny that red on you makes him go CRAZY inside

“Kirishima!” you yell happily when you see him, running over to give him a hug

He instantly twirls you around and tells you how pretty you look

You go outside and everyone begins to hang out, playing some games, swimming, dancing, or just plain mingling

Mineta is of course on a mission- he is just sitting in a really dark corner of the party pratically trying to memorize how all the girls look and drooling like a perv, concocting a plan in his twisted head of his

The moment he hears Uraraka yell- “Who wants to play volleyball- Boys vs Girls!” He instantly jumps up- now was time to get his plan in action

You and Kirishima join Uraraka, Izuku, Kaminari, Mina, Bakugo, and Tsuyu in the game

What you all didnt notice was Mineta, who was waiting patiently to pounce on one of the girls- he unfortunately chose you as his victim

When you wadded towards the end of the pool to try and save the ball, Mineta had reached over and pulled at one of the straps of your top, easily detangling it from your chest

You felt something loosen- and then horror rippled throughout your body

You qiuckly ducked under the water, only your eyes visible as your face was on fire

Mineta at first was cheering, your top tangled in his grubby hands, but then everyone started screaming at him, Mina throwing every threat she could think of while Uraraka tried to block you from sight and Froppy got you a towel

What really terrified Mineta was Kirishima- he was desperately trying to crawl out of the pool, all the boys trying to restrain him because he was literally going to KILL Mineta

Nobody had ever seen Kirishima that mad- even Bakugo

Mineta ran off, still holding onto your top as Tsuyu wrapped you in a towel

Kirishima ran over to you, wrapping you in a hug

“You okay? Im so sorry that happened! I’ll get your top back- I promise!”

And this boy did-of course after he calmed down- while Bakugo followed suit

As much as Bakugo hates to admit it, he does like you and you being his best friend’s girl, he protects you as much as Eijirou does

They both found where Mineta was hiding, Bakugo grabbing the little grape while Kirishima rambled on about “how unmanly that was” and how Mineta needed to “respect women and be more chivalrous”

Also may or may have not have told him that if he ever did anything like that again he wouldnt hestitate to teach him a lesson

After that little stunt, Yaomomo kicked him out of the party, all the girls breathing a sigh of relief

Kirishima came back, all the girls sitting around you and giving support-but once they saw Kiri they’d knew you’d be okay and gave you some privacy

This boy cuddled the crap out of you for the rest of the day and didnt wanna let go

BnHA Chapter 288: ZOOM AND ENHANCE

Previously on BnHA: Tomura, AFO, Deku, and Nana all met up inside of OFA and were all, “wow this is awkward.” AFO talked a whole bunch about vestiges before realizing that nobody cared (EXCEPT FOR ME. I CARED!!), and was then all “anyway so just to get everyone up to speed here, Tomura is Nana’s grandson.” OFA appeared and was all “what up bro I see you’re still a dick”, and then everyone stood around for a bit waging psychokinetic war on each other and blowing up on the ground and shit. This didn’t really accomplish anything, so AFO shifted gears and started trash talking Deku instead, because he’s a whiny little punkass loser who can’t admit when his brother has gotten the best of him yet again! OFA was all “anyways Deku rules and haters gonna hate, peace”, and then everyone wooshed back out of OFA and back into the real world, Deku with his quirk still intact. Meanwhile Gigantomachia and the LoV stampeded ever closer to the city, and Toga started monologuing in preparation for a seemingly inevitable battle with Ochako! And then the chapter basically just ended there lol.

Today on BnHA: Imagine you are Uraraka Ochako. And you’re out here doing what you do best, saving bitches and being a badass, when all of a sudden some old lady runs up to you and is all “PLEASE HELP ME, MY HUSBAND IS ASLEEP OR SOME SHIT, YOU KNOW US OLD PEOPLE, WE’RE SO FUCKING FEEBLE AND HAPLESS.” And so you’re all “OF COURSE” because you’re a good fucking person, and then she speeds off like she’s got fucking wheels and it’s like damn, grandma, were you in varsity track or what, and then OUT OF NOWHERE she just spontaneously turns into HIMIKO FUCKING TOGA. And she’s all naked and shit, and it’s like damn, Toga, where are your clothes, and she just giggles and ducks into a nearby building. And so you follow her for god knows what reason, and she fucking pounces on you and starts interrogating you in like the most seductive way possible, and you’re all wtf is this. Like, can you even imagine. Anyway so Ochako is having quite a day.

I really like that the characters actually think about these things and ask these kind of questions. that’s exactly the contrast between the heroes and the villains right there. the villains care about each other, they’ll give each other heartwarming speeches to please come back alive, and yet they’re utterly indifferent to the thousands of people being killed as they demolish their way through city after city. meanwhile by contrast Ochako’s first thought upon being erotically waylaid by her sexy knife-wielding archnemesis is “but what about that poor old lady is she all right.” just completely opposite energies, almost to a hilarious degree. like maybe Ochako actually should worry about herself just a little bit more lol but heroes gonna hero

and so now what, Toga!! you’re gonna pout about it?? like she’s betrayed you somehow?

anyway so that’s the end of the chapter! and I’ll just come right out and say that I’m hoping that this fight ends up being something where Toga maybe starts to see things just a little bit more from Ochako’s point of view, and not the other way around, because otherwise I’ll be a little frustrated, ngl. the manga has done an excellent job of making the villains likeable and relatable and getting us to sympathize with them up till this point, but at some point it’s got to start refuting some of these arguments and making it clear that the villains do not actually have any kind of moral high ground here

and also! I really like Toga and would like her to have some kind of redemption arc! but as of now that’s looking to be really difficult if not impossible to pull off, because Toga hasn’t exactly shown a whole lot of remorse for anything she’s done so far, you know? because she doesn’t see it as bad in any way; to her it’s just her way of expressing love, and being true to who she is. but being true to yourself really should NOT involve, you know, MURDER, and so yeah. it’s a problem lmao

but who knows! maybe this battle with Ochako will be the start of something which eventually leads to some sort of change within her! I have absolutely no idea how that could play out tbh, but even so I can hope! either that or she will double down on the whole “villains are victims and heroes are apathetic cruel hypocrites” ideology and decide she wants to kill Ochako and Izuku for breaking her heart, in which case I will be very sad, but I guess if that’s the way Horikoshi’s gonna play it it is what it is!

and lastly, so is this going to be like the final battle between them or something?? surely not, right? like this is just round 2 of 3. well at any rate, it’s sure going to be interesting

Plus, I wanna see how our notes compare, and try to have more civil discussions on the internet than I see on average. Oof. Starting right in the heart of the issue, really.

I am aware that Izuku is… incredibly likeable. I am aware that some of his issues, while perceived by some as noble, are heavily problematic and probably need to get sorted out before the boy gets a close audience with death. I am also aware that some of his habits are less than courteous in some circumstances, though like you said, Izuku has the benefit of having no malicious intent when it comes to these actions, even if they can come off as annoying.

Now, regarding Katsuki’s snail pace development… I get what you’re trying to say, but that doesn’t make it come off as any less frustrating...

As much as I want to believe that Katsuki’s upbringing in society is what’s stunted his growth so badly, I wish the narrative was more willing to show it. All we’ve gotten of Katsuki’s past are flashbacks from Izuku, remarks during the visit to the Bakugo household, and the “raised with violence” line from the Remedial Course arc. Now this understandably paints a pretty terrible picture, but uh… what has Katsuki done to try to fix it? How has Katsuki tried to demonstrate that his upbringing wasn’t justified? Why is he imitating the behaviors he supposedly despises, that supposedly keep him held back, instead of trying to find a workaround? I’ve only seen a few growth/redemption arcs of antagonistic characters, but even if the arcs took long, there was always an ultimate reason for doing so. And Katsuki doesn’t have that. At least, not yet.

It’s been implicitly established that Katsuki’s growth will be the mother of all slowburns. I’ve mentioned it in this old post of mine, but this is doing Katsuki no favors, at least for me. Now don’t get me wrong, I love myself a flawed character, but there’s only so much I can stomach before a flawed character becomes less “flawed” and more “asshole.” I personally believe that his true growth doesn’t get started until “Deku vs. Kacchan 2” (Episode 61), but if we really wanna consider that “Bakugo’s Start Line” (Episode 8) is his… well, start line, then that only makes it worse. Because again, his character arc is, as we’ve established, slow. But the fact that it’s slow enough for several other character arcs to transpire (Shoto, Tenya), as well as slow enough to allow “background characters” some significant development and return to relevancy (Eijiro, Hitoshi), I start wanting to stop holding my breath for his arc’s supposedly inevitable conclusion. Now I know you personally consider the suspense a positive, but it’s the opposite for me. I’d chalk it up to impatience, but again, MULTIPLE character arcs have transpired, and a few have been far more believably gradual compared to Katsuki’s.

While it is impressive that Katsuki was willing to pour out his feelings to Izuku, I’d like to argue that it wasn’t as… well, sentimental. Remember that society and Izuku’s peers before UA regarded him as the lowest of the low. The weakest, the most worthless. “The pebble in the path.” Considering that Katsuki lost the Training Exercise AND technically got outsmarted by Izuku, who was considered this until VERY RECENTLY, I’d imagine that’d be one hell of a blow to his ego. It is still significant that he’s willing to talk to Izuku about this, but it’s not exactly because he’s humbling himself. It’s because he’s begrudgingly admitting that he’s not the best, and it’s been well established that he HATES not being the absolute best. And I don’t know about you, but suddenly getting your high expectations crushed after years of nothing but “positive reinforcement” should not be made as big of a deal as it is here. I’m not saying to get over it, because you’ll never get over it, you have to live with it and learn from it, but don’t make it seem like it’s the end of the world and a half like Katsuki did in that scene. Plus, didn’t he essentially reaffirm that he was going to do what he planned to do from the start of his tenure at UA? I mean, good on him for his dedication, but you’d think the guy would want to take a step back and actually try to learn from others if they were so impressive.

Now, the DC Superhero franchise falls in and out from my radar at times, but I don’t think Katsuki and Batman are a good comparison for the point you're trying to make. Yes they both use violence, and yes they’re both intimidating, but for entirely different reasons. Batman uses fear tactics because he finds them efficient; I don’t know what they’re doing with his character nowadays, but from what I can gather in his earlier incarnations, Batman’s not out for blood. Vengeace, sure, but he doesn’t waste time getting there beating the snot out of his enemies. He takes care of them, sends them off, and keeps on trucking. Before they tried making him even more edgy, he didn’t kill and he kept away from firearms because he was well aware of any issues he had. He may not be a goodie two-shoes like most heroes, but he does show definitive empathy in some of his earlier incarnations. Remember, Batman was the kid who lost his parents to injustice. That was his entire reason for taking up the cowl, for becoming more than Bruce Wayne. In the Justice League Unlimited Episode “Epilogue,” he has the option to kill Ace, a teen villain with dangerously growing psychic powers. He doesn’t do that. He takes the seat next to Ace as she begins to die. He offers his support as Ace has to confront the terrifying realization that she is dying. He’s helping another scared kid, because he knows what it’s like.

That’s heroism. That’s Batman.

Katsuki’s motivations and actions aren’t as sympathetic. Him lashing out isn’t for anything strategical; early on in the series and even after his “Start Line,” up until the Endeavor Agency Arc, I believe, Katsuki’s sole motivations are victory and bloodlust. Even if it seems like he’s growing more chivalrous with his resolve, he backslides so many times back into the angry loudmouth trope its hard to want to keep hope, because if he can backslide multiple times before, what’s to stop him from backsliding again? It ruins the suspense for some people. And people are intimidated by Katsuki, but that’s because he’s borderline unhinged. I’d be scared s***less too if a pyrokinetic powerhouse was gunning on me with his eyes glowing like the fires of Hell as he radiated killing intent (an exaggeration, but still). I have yet to see Katsuki use this intimidation “tactic” of his beyond the fact that he appears to be enjoying it, either.

Alright, enough of that, let’s analyze that penultimate question: why hate Katsuki? If you asked me early on, I would say that yes, I don’t like him because he hurts Izuku. But as I’ve continued looking throughout the series, I now say that I don’t like him because, contrary to what he says, virtually everything is handed to him. Most of the time, its people mistaking his battle thirst as chivalrous determination, whether it be against a villain or just a standard opponent. He never tries to make himself any more “likeable,” and while Class 1-A is quick to call him out for this in the USJ Arc, by the Sports Festival they’re all flocking to him, and I have yet to understand any proper reasoning for this. It’s less like Katsuki proving there’s more to him than meets the eye and earning the respect of his peers, and more so that people latch on to the abstract concept of Katsuki’s coolness and strength, and he just begrudgingly tolerates them from there.

I mean, Eijiro was wholeheartedly against Katsuki’s actions during the Battle Trial, yet by the USJ the difference is night and day, and it doesn’t help that he’s interpreting Katsuki’s desire to beat up villains as “faith in his classmates.” Shoto was abused by Endeavor, so the fact that he can’t at least draw some comparisons between Katsuki and his sperm donor is slightly concerning, and while I want to chalk it up to his stunted social skills, I feel like Hori and/or his editors trying to shove in a friendship to increase their overall likeability (especially Katsuki’s) is more likely. Don’t even get me started on the hoops they jump through in the Joint Training Arc. Not even gonna touch that…

Okay, finally made it to the last paragraph. So, here’s something about me you may or may not like: I don’t like people dying, good or bad. Unless their actions are comparable to that of Satan, or at least close, then they shouldn’t get the axe. Why?

Because a dead person can’t change… and a dead person can’t suffer.

Believe me, even though I’ve fallen off the bandwagon a long time ago, I want Katsuki to change for the better. And he can’t do that if he’s dead. The manga’s most recent arc has been hella frustrating because of that, and no spoilers, but the two deaths that did occur did not leave me in high spirits. Hawks, Shigaraki, you both are on thin f***ing ice I swear. So no, lucky for you, I do NOT want to see Katsuki dead just because he happens to be an ass. What I wanna see is proper repercussions that go beyond being a villain hostage and having everyone else’s potential trauma downplayed for the sake of giving Katsuki more sympathy points.

Also, I’m well aware Katsuki’s death would absolutely ruin Izuku. I am also well aware that it is one of the few concrete facts I hate with nearly every fiber of my body. Not because of what it says about Izuku…

...but because I am sick and tired of Katsuki continuing to be the arrogant s*** he is, whether it be his genuine feelings or merely a front. I am sick of the fact that for as smart and aware that someone like him is, he still insists on trying to act like a badass when there is no need or overall expectation to do so. I am sick that he continues to decide to put himself and others in jeopardy, all for the purpose of maintaining his ego. I am sick that he gets all this support, all this help, and yet his development is still worse than a snail’s pace, and the narrative continues to keep letting him off with love taps and leaving him unfairly unprepared for the kill shot.

...maybe Katsuki deserves to get better. But is this really the best way to do it? Really?

Pt 1.4

I reread the part 2 and didn't fully like the tone/mood. So I'm going to restructure the expisition a tad here.

So this is after he esquaped O.F. before Toga. And around kamino woods bro.

At the end, something clicked and a pretty important arc was formed.

The trick was to exit in the back. It not likely a store has security there. The cameras have to be avoided carefully. And just go. If you get spotted, run.

Deku was amazing at this. He stole over 75 dollars undetected, infront of hero's sometimes. And for someone who wanted to stay off the radar at all cost, that was impressive.

Speaking of hero's. There was a fight abit a head. A Wood Hero and strange destructive fellow.

Deku mumbled furiously, not to his liking though. When he mumbled his hands twitched, witch brought even more eyes to him.

"Ha ha! A fanboy I see!" A man said next to Deku. He had a mutan quirk.

"Uh- Sure! There so cool!" Deku said.

"Well I'm sure you'll make an exilent hero." He said. Mt. Lady made her move. All eyes and camreas were on her in seconds, and Deku took that as his exit.

A hero? I don't see why not. UA should have it's entrance exam soon. Deku thought. Oh right. I'm soppose to be at O.F.

I doubt I could waltz in without someone recognizing me. Kachan will probably be there to. That would be fun. But i'd rather not.

But you know what would be funny? Sneaking in and seeing if I could get in. And hopefully out. Just for fun.

An unsaid plan was formed.

And that night a masked boy got into the UA.

A stolen rabbit mask, with ears peering out. And another black mask covering his nose and mouth.

To finish the stolen pattern, a hoodie that was to big. The perfect size to hide cards in the sleeves though.

He quickly ran through the hall, and snuck to what seemed to be the teachers lounge.

He went on a computer and looked at the written test.

He was satisfied when he saw he would have breezed through the test. He went to the physical part and was a bit less happy. He'd probably not make that part. Nonetheless he'd still get in 1B. Witch was enough for him.

He took a sticky note and wrote '1 to 0' on it. And a snarky smily face.

Then footsteps came. Not alarming enough to not be enough time to esquape. But too little not to have to hide.

In short, Duku played hide in Seek with a Pro.

A tierd, unaware hero walked in. Deku sadly in a hiding spot, had to think a bit till he recognized him.

Erasure Head. Underground Hero, good at hand to hand combat and abushing groups of 1-10 all by himself. Quirk-won't effect Deku at all. But his capture weapon. That was a problem.

It was 3. Why was the hero here? Having night patrol made sense, but at the school?

Didn't matter. What did though is that Deku was closer to the open ajar door. And all the hero had to do was to turn around for 2 seconds.

Deku focused on keeping hes breathing as quite as possible. And then when his second came, he focosed on carefully and swifly getting out.

He really wanted to see the face of the hero. But sided for equaping instead. As he took the short cut out, he stopped and posed for a camera.

Yeah he really just wanted to piss off the hero's.

And he did.

How would Garou react to bakugo?

GUAHAHA! Oh man, you guys are really going for the jugular now! X’D First it’s how Garou might react to Stain, now it’s pitting favs against each other?! Aaaauughgh welp! *cracks knuckles* I suppose I can take a bite at it. ;) Forewarned though, I’m speaking from the place of appreciating both characters (cause I’ve seen plenty of other posts in poor taste that end up trashing either one out of dislike + misinformation about them.) So what I’ll say is probably not gonna be that -obvious- take you might want me to cover. Because, first I’ll need to lay down some facts to clear up some common misconceptions:

Kacchan (current manga) is still a high school student (a kid), and an aspiring hero in training (not a professional one..yet). So already both of those points keep him off Garou’s radar. Kacchan, despite his ‘delinquent’ looks, is also a serious honor student a nerd who sticks as closely as he can to the rules, and is similarly a loner who, for the most part, keeps to himself. He does not go around purposely antagonizing other ‘extras’ for the lulz or caring one bit about their business (he actually tells them the opposite: stay back), unless they insist on getting in his way or catch his attention, personally offend him (or those he respects), or directly challenge his world view + perceptions on what it means to be weak and/or his goal to be the best. Which, coming from an upbringing that only praised him for his quirk + talents for greatness since he was 4 (which is extremely dehumanizing when it sidelines all other merits of his character) it’s left him with some crippling fatal flaws: gifted child syndrome, a terribly abrasive and explosive personality (matching his quirk) with a short temper, and an inferiority complex that may flare up if his self-worth is questioned or threatened. Which he’ll then implode and beat himself up for when he feels like utter shit: weak and powerless. All of this he’s slowly trying to unlearn (old habits die hard tho) and deal with during his serious hero training, while also gaining the more mature awareness to make up for his shortcomings. Because, it’s been made very clear to him that he can’t succeed as a hero if he does not. He knows this.

Kacchan’s goal is to be the best hero (just like, or in fact, even better than All Might by surpassing him) and he seriously puts his all (100% effort) into it. No matter what anyone says; he does not care what they think. So he cannot be swayed into the ‘dark side,’ and that is absolute (from Hori’s ‘word of god’). He has all the budding traits to be the perfect hero and make it work, but unfortunately his abrasive behavior, poor social tact, and anger at being underestimated + not being taken seriously so often misleads others into misjudging his intent. They think he’s more fit to be a villain and write off his potential, which actually leaves him to be quite unpopular in-universe. But to those who know him (like Deku: ‘he’s a jerk but he’s amazing’) his rough language and attitude may be an irritant and difficult to translate (also making him intimidating and often unapproachable to strangers), but because Kacchan proactively takes charge to confront and win against any problem (no matter what it takes, including if that means damaging himself, utilizing teamwork, or securing the safety of hostages/victims first before apprehending the aggressors), he actually rallies group morale and inspires others to follow him. Which is the mark of a good leader (and yes, he truly is amazing). 

Now with all that said, I’m sure some traits and key words in there stick out as very familiar and similar to Garou, but also very different as well. But first, unless Kacchan gets the allowed clearance for it (again, rules) and proactively takes charge with the intent to take him down as a ‘villain’ (while calling himself a hero) and attacks him first, then otherwise Garou really doesn’t have a need to fight him (yet). But he will defend himself accordingly even if he’s attacked by a kid. And importantly, he’s not gonna judge him on who he used to be (nor would he even know or be aware of Kacchan’s past), but on who he presents himself now. If that ever happens and they do end up fighting, then Kacchan’s also the tenacious type who will not give up or concede defeat, doing everything it takes to win. Now that’s an interesting challenge! 8D Garou might even be impressed a kid has a similar amount of guts + grit as him, cause Kacchan will find a way to keep fighting even if he physically cannot stand up anymore. (Oho!!!)

As for what Garou thinks about him, Kacchan’s abrasive attitude + language (esp from someone who aims & presents himself as a hero) might really tick him off if that image contradicts Garou’s ideal of what it means to be a ‘true hero.’ But also because they’re both similar intelligent assholes + adaptive prodigies, I would…very much like to see a verbal battle of wits between them. (Just let them both go ham with the insults + hot takes and I’d totally grab popcorn for that! 8′D) Garou might assume and take some resentment from how Kacchan appears to be fighting from a position of privilege (good family status, strong quirk, popularity when in-universe he’s actually not, no impediments on his goal to become a hero, etc) because…that’s the opposite of what Garou ever believed he could have. The choice; that confidence. To full-heartedly be a hero despite what anyone else thinks or labels you. And that’s one of the biggest differences between them. Because Kacchan puts his all, with confidence, into being a hero. His best. No compromises or half-assing anything without properly following through to the end. :O (Actually this might really impress Garou too, as it consists of what he wants to see from the heroes he challenges, yet so many often disappoint him.)

But also, Kacchan’s smart, sharp, and observant too. He’d notice something’s off about this Garou guy who somehow calls himself a villain/monster. And since Kacchan efficiently attacks things at the source, he’d wonder, what the fuck is his problem?! But he’s not gonna be nice or soft about it either, heh. Oh man, now that would be fun if Kacchan could figure it out too. 8D I would like to see it!!! Cause they might actually get somewhere and realize/challenge things about the other that they haven’t yet fully grasped about themselves. (Or, worst-case scenario, a confrontation between them might turn out very messy and non-constructive if they can’t ever see where the other’s coming from. Garou’s got the compassion for it, but might also offend Kacchan too if he ‘holds back’ on him for being a kid.) So hmm! It’s a very interesting scenario to think about!

Headcanons for Bakugou when he finds out his really strong S/O is quirkless?

I tweaked the spec a little for this request, as I don't think it would be possible to date someone for a while and not know their Quirk, or lack of one. So instead it's someone he has a thing for but doesn't really know. I also delved a bit more into the how/why of your meeting. I’ve focused on physical strength here such as martial arts/gym so let me know if you wanted a different take on this.

Bakugou Katsuki

As proud as Bakugou is of his Quirk and as versatile as he's made it, he's not the type of guy to rely on it completely. He took Aizawa's statement that "no good Pro is a one-trick pony" to heart. He's a regular at the gym, multiple martial arts dojos, and probably a boxing club of some kind. Places where strength is measured by experience and skill. He's not going to be caught out by some villain just because his grenade gauntlets are outta juice or it's too cold to set off a blast.

These are the places where Quirks don't matter. (People with strength or speed Quirks are probably placed in their own categories/weight bands.) Bakugou's native language is competition. He'll prove he's better than everyone even without his flashy Quirk.

Bakugou sticks to his own routines and only engages with others to trash-talk or fight, because he's not here to make friends. He's here to prove his strength without his Quirk. He's here to win.

That said, he does keep an eye on the people who he thinks are worth his time. The fastest. The strongest. The best.

It's no surprise you'd end up on his radar eventually.

He won't approach you right away. He's not some greasy motherfucker eyeing you up and offering to take you for smoothies. He's watching a possible opponent. Someone who might be able to teach him something in the ring or on the training mats. Someone it would would stroke his ego to defeat.

You can feel the heat of his stare across the room as he watches your fights, your sparring matches, your sets on the machines. You know who he is, of course. Everyone keeps tabs on the Pros coming to train, especially ones that seem to be rocketing for the top of the Billboard like he is. He's earned the respect of the elders, the people who've frequented the gym for years.

Even in a gym, people gossip. After a while, everyone gets to know each other's personal lives, hobbies, Quirks. Maybe you're loud and proud about not having a Quirk, or maybe you keep it to yourself. Either way, it somehow doesn't reach Bakugou's ears. He's interested in your strength and fighting skill, and that alone.

Or so he tells himself.

He only realises how physically attracted he is to you the first time you wind up sparring. There's something alchemical in the mix of adrenaline and sweat and how your body flows back and forth to block and strike. It's a good fight. A damn good fight. And before he knows it, he's taking every chance he gets to face you in the ring, and at the end of every fight he's determined to get to know you better. Get you on a date. Get you alone. Get you somewhere for a totally different kind of wrestling.

Perhaps he hears it through the grapevine, or perhaps you tell him yourself. Either way, it comes as a surprise. You're Quirkless. Now, some of Bakugou's opinions will have shifted from when he was a teenager. He knows that Quirks aren't everything. Hell, if they were he wouldn't bother to train his body so hard. It's just...hard to reconcile. Someone so strong who has no superpower, nothing between them and the world but their own strength.

But when he looks at it like that, he realises he's got mad respect for you. You don't let your lack of a Quirk hold you back in a world where everyone defines themselves by them. You might not be a Pro but you can make him break out in a sweat and keep up with him when he's running on his own strength. He knows that if he didn't have his Quirk, you might even be evenly matched.

He'd have to re-examine the things he said and did to Deku when they were kids in an uneasy light, but I like to think by this time he's outgrown his own prejudices regarding Quirks, and those of society at large, and come to some kind of understanding with Midoriya. Attaching personal value to Quirks is a problem the BNHA society has at large. Something you'll have been dealing all your life. He's not going to add to that.

If someone makes a snide comment, he's going to sit back and let you deal with it. Because you've earned your strength, and you've got the right to prove it.

Iida first starts to take interest in you when he sees how diligently you work! As class rep, you were one of the students he never had to reprimand, so at first you were kinda low on his radar. But when Uraraka brings you over to sit with them at lunch one day, he actually had his first full on conversation with you!

And he is so surprised that he’s never spoken with you before then! You got along so well together. You guys become pretty fast friends. You have similar temperaments and similar values!

As you guys get closer and you open up more with him his heart beat just gets a little bit faster. And at first he thinks he’s getting sick, because why is his body reacting so weird all of a sudden when he’s around you?

Somewhere along the way of your friendship this poor boy developed the biggest fattest crush on you and he didn’t even know it! When he finally realizes what it was, he probably tries to shove it down since he wants to focus on school but...you’re too amazing to forget.

He’s a little more on edge around you, he’s quick to start if you address him. You pick up on it and confront him pretty early on. “Iida, what’s been going on with you lately?”

He tries to dance around it at first but one look at your bemused face and he comes clean. Such a gentleman about it too! At first your expression is so serious he thinks you’re going to reject him --- it’s all in his mind though, you’re actually super flustered and flattered??

And you say yes and start dating! And Uraraka is LOSING IT when you tell her because what?!?! Her two friends are dating now?! And Deku has YET to notice her okay, smh. But she’s happy for you aha.

He’ll hear you humming and he’ll always compliment you on it! It kind of embarrasses you a little since you’re more comfortable singing by yourself, but the first time you sing with him around? He’s blown away. You didn’t even realize, you just got to be so comfortable around him and you started singing to the radio and he’s like !?!?!?!

Honestly you’re kind of a power couple. And at first glance you intimidate the HECK out of your classmates but in reality you’re both fun dorks you laugh and have a grand ol time together :) study dates, fun bouquets of flowers from him, etc.
