Aegon brought me to the Street of Silk on my thirteenth name day. It was his duty as my brother, he said, to ensure I was as educated as he was. At least that's what I understood him to mean. He said, “Time to get it wet.”

"We will soon have enough members to form a kpop group." Chan joked, eating his ramen. "Well, your next mission is Changbin. I think it will be a bit difficult." "Because it wasn't until now?" I chuckled, raising an eyebrow to him and taking another bite of my tuna. "Anyway, I think it has something to do with all the bruises on his faces and hands." "Wait, wait, wait! Did you really think I wouldn't ask? Tell me. What did you do to him? No one dares to come after Changbin since everyone thinks he's dangerous." "Oh you know, the same things I did to all of you, I just bullied him." I sighed, ashamed of myself. "I called him a weak coward because I thought he was beaten by someone but didn't have the courage to face the problem." I looked up and saw Chan frowning at me, a disappointed expression on his face. "Hey, don't forget how stupid I was, please. Anyway, I guess I was far from the truth so can you tell me who dares to hit my Beanie?" "Your Beanie?" Chan repeated, choking on his ramen. "Why do you give cute nicknames to the others and still call me stupid dumbass?" "Because I live with you, my dear stupid dumbass, so I know how you are." I teased, offering him a smirk he probably couldn't see. "So, can you tell me what is happening with my Bea... with Changbin?" I expected Chan would know my Beanie's problem but he only shrugged, saying his friend didn't talk a lot about his personal life. The only think my human knew was that Changbin worked in a night club after school. It was strange because my Beanie was too young to work in this kind of place. "We will follow him tomorrow." I told Chan, licking my plate. "I would like to help you, Y/n, but my exams start next week and I have to study. Can we do that Friday?" Chan asked, taking my plate and starting to do the dishes. "I'll go alone, then." I replied, making Chan looking at me with eyes wide open. "What? I know how to follow someone now and I can take care of myself. Don't worry for me, okay?" Chan didn't really like the idea of letting me go alone but he didn't really have the choice, either. Moreover, he knew I'd made my decision and he couldn't change my mind so he agreed with a sigh, asking me not to put myself in danger and go back home as fast as possible. I nodded, touched by the way he reacted, and we went to bed, wondering what I would find the day after. As I said, as I did and, when Changbin left the school, taking a bus -gosh, I hated when they did that!-, I followed him, realising I was coming back to Itaewon. This district was definitely the one where everything happened and I didn't go there this much since I was a cat. Following my Beanie's aura, that was as strong and comforting as his scent, I ended up walking carefully in a dimly lit street when I finally saw my friend throwing huge bags in bins. "Wow! Beanie! You should wear tank tops more often!" I thought, astonished by his shape and musculature. "Chan, you got some competition." Chuckling slowly, I came closer to Changbin and jumped on a bin, wanting to surprise him. "Hi again, Bea-" I couldn't finish and was thrown backwards when Changbin, without noticing me, opened the lid of the bin. Hearing me screaming -or meowing loudly, if you prefer-, he closed the lid and finally saw me, opening wide his eyes. "What the Hell are you doing here, Boo?!" He blurted out while I climbed back on the bin, feeling my heart race in my chest. "Did you follow me?" He stepped back and almost fell on the ground when, pretty proud of me, I nodded, adding a little meow to my answer. "Wait... Do... do you understand me?" My Beanie asked, a hand on his chest, furrowing his brows but opening wider his eyes when I nodded for a second time. "Does... Does Chan know you're not a normal cat?" Another nod from me. "Wait!" He quickly came back to me, stopping his face inches away from mine, frowning. "Are you Y/n?" At this moment, I was dying to nod once again, to let him know the bitch who bullied him was also the one who helped his friends. The human inside of me was screaming a thousand of yes but my reason told me to lie, that it was better this way, so I shook my head slowly. "That was a stupid question." He chuckled, lowering his head. "Damn, the boys won't believe when I tell them!" "No!" I yelled, making him hear nothing else than a hiss. "They can't know?" Changbin asked, tilting his head on the side. "Okay, I'll keep the secr-" At this moment, a door opened in the back alley and an impressive and pretty scary man appeared, visibly angry. Before I could realise what was happening, he came closer to my Beanie and, throwing him on the floor, slapped his face violently. "What the fuck are you doing, you piece of shit?" The stranger shouted at my friend before noticing me. "Do you think we pay you to pet a fucking cat?!" "I'm sorry." Changbin apologised weakly, head down. "I'll go back to work right now." Standing up slowly, my Beanie gave me a sad look that broke my heart into a million pieces and silently followed the man. Who was that guy? Who was the men Changbin worked for? What was his work? Why did he agree to work here? So many thoughts came into my mind and, of course, the only one who could answer them was the one who got hit right in front of my eyes mostly because of me. Jumping from the bin, I ran away and came back at Chan's home almost two hours later -because four stupid rats chased me for more than thirty minutes!-, noticing he left his bedroom's window open, probably for me. Smiling softly, I jumped to enter the house but... Perfect! Twice in one day! Chan reopened the window and immediately apologised, asking if he hurt me. "My dignity is dying but that's okay." I mumbled, jumping on the windowsill. "So, we have a pro... What's that smell?" "What?" Chan asked, furrowing while he took me in his arms and closed the window again. "Which smell?" "I can smell it. There was a woman, here." "Oh, mom brought a friend. You probably smell her scent." I looked at Chan, not understanding why he was lying to me. I could guess it by the fast pace of his heart but, preferring to focus on Changbin's problem, I didn't say anything else about the scent, letting him think I believed him. So, I told Chan what I saw, feeling tears reaching my eyes when I remembered the moment when Changbin got hit in front of me. We definitely had to help our friend, to take him away from that club, from these men. But we had no clue how to do that. Going to the club was much too dangerous and calling the police would be useless without good reasons. Moreover, it could be bad for my Beanie if the authorities knew a teenager was working in this kind of place. "I have an idea but I'm not sure you'll like it." Chan finally dropped after a long moment of silence. "Yongnam?" I guessed, thinking exactly the same thing as my human. "He could help us. He gave you his number, last time, right?" Chan nodded, grabbing his phone and looking for my father's name. "Call him." Taking a deep breath, Chan called Yongnam, putting his phone on speaker so I could hear my father. The seconds we waited were the longest of our life and, when Yongnam finally picked up, his voice reassured us. "Yo Chan! What's up, man?" My dad asked friendly, joy in his voice. "Hi, Yongnam hyung. Sorry to bother you now but I need your help again." Chan apologised, afraid my father would say no this time. But his reaction was far from what we imagined and, instead, he chuckled, asking who he had to hit this time. Relieved, Chan told him there was nobody to scare but he was looking for information about a club at Itaewon in which his best friend was working after school. "What's the club name?" My father asked with a serious voice. Then, Chan told him and what we feared turned out to be true, this place was dangerous, really dangerous. The owners of the club was known to be members of a nasty gang and pimps, that meant the place where Changbin worked was closer to a brothel than a club. "My poor Beanie!" I whined, making Chan roll his eyes at the nickname. Fortunately, the awesome man that Yongnam was had a solution and asked Chan to bring his best friend at the tattoo shop on the day after, saying he would help him to get away from the club and find a better job. Sighing in relief, Chan thanked my father and hung up his phone, smiling at me. We both knew what we had to do and it didn't seem really hard -take that, witch!-. The day after, Changbin was looking at me, a smirk on his lips, while Chan explained to him the plan, or, at least, the part he knew. It was true my father didn't tell us what he wanted to do but we knew we could trust him. Unfortunately, my Beanie told us it wouldn't be as easy as we thought. He didn't know a lot about the gang business but already heard some things and, from what they said, they had a lot of contacts. Moreover, their traffic didn't stop in the club and they had girls all around the city "working" for really famous people. They had a large, really large grid. "You don't know my soon-to-be-step-father!" Jisung giggled, coming from nowhere and wrapping an arm around Changbin's shoulders, making us open wide our eyes. "What? Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you! Yongnam moved in with my mom and I." "So, it doesn't matter to you that you'll be Y/n's half brother?" Chan smirked, giving me a playful look. "Don't talk about this, I still have nightmares." My squirrel -Yes, my squirrel!- sighed, shaking his head slightly, making us chuckle. "Anyway! You're going to Yongnam's shop? I'm coming with you!" Jisung then wrapped his other arm around Chan's shoulders, being careful not to hit me, and we went to my father's shop, Chan hiding me in his bag during the bus ride. But what we saw when we finally reached our destination made us think that Yongnam had a bigger plan that what we imagined. Sneaking through a lot of big bikes, making sure not to push any of them, we let Jisung knock at the door, laughing discreetly at how excited he was. But the man who came to open wasn't my father and, even if my Yongnam was an impressive man, he looked like a little girl compared to the guy in front of us. "Is that a man or a bear?" I asked, making Chan hold a chuckle. "Boss, the kids are here!" The stranger yelled, letting us in. "Boss?!" We all repeated before noticing about 15 men in the shop, all as impressive as each other. "Don't mind, Yunho." My dad laughed behind his counter, high-fiving Jisung. "This bastard is stuck in the past." "And you still can't understand that some things won't change." Another man, sat on the couch, smirked. "Anyway! You must be Changbin." Yongnam smiled friendly at my Beanie who shyly nodded. "Chan told me you work in a club near to my shop." Another nod from my friend. "Cat got your tongue?" One of the men asked before pushing two of his friends from the couch and inviting mine to sit down. "Don't worry, guys. They won't eat you." My dad chuckled. "So, Changbin, tell me what's happening to you." Taking a deep breath, my Beanie tried to calm down and gave a smile at Chan when my human patted on his shoulder, encouraging his friend to let everyone know about his situation. And that was when I knew Changbin was one of the strongest men on Earth. Calmly, our friend explained his little sister got sick, really sick, a few months ago and her treatment was pretty expensive. Unfortunately, their parents didn't earn a lot of money so Changbin started to find a job to help them to pay for his sister medicines. But, since he was young, a lot of places rejected him and the only work he found was in the club. There were rules he has to follow like not asking about the guys business or the women work and he had to do whatever they told him. Of course, Changbin knew this place was dangerous and nasty but he had no choice and, even if he had to do a lot of dirty tasks, he didn't mind as long as he could earn money and help his parents. Hearing that, I couldn't help myself and climbed on his lap, purring and cuddling against him. Since he knew I was a special cat, my Beanie chuckled and thanked me before lifting up his head and seeing Yongnam looking at him, his arms crossed on his chest -Wow! My dad was such a muscular man!-. Slowly, Yongnam came closer and, following by his friends, bowed in front of Changbin, making him open wide his eyes. Standing up, my dad then said Changbin was the bravest man he never met, to which I agreed with a nod and a meowing, making everyone laugh -WHAT?! That was true!-. Going back behind his counter, Yongnam told Changbin he would find him a better job to what one of his friends said that my Beanie could work in his restaurant, in the kitchen or in the dining room. "But only on weekends." He added with a friendly smile, saying he wanted my Beanie to be with his family and friends during the other days. "And don't worry about your pay, okay?" His face lightening up, Changbin thanked the man and quickly bowed in front of him, making all the others laugh and my dad say that it was the first time someone bowed in front of one of his guys because of something else than fear. But Yongnam also noticed the way Chan eyed all the men, his brow furrowed a little. "What's wrong, Chan?" He asked, making my human jump slightly. "I... No, nothing!" Chan smiled, embarrassed. "You wonder if I really stopped my activities, right?" My dad guessed, raising an eyebrow -My dad was so handsome! >w<- "Don't worry, we are not a gang anymore. Or, at least, we are not the gang we were before. When I decided to end the gang, we somehow became the authorities of the district. People know we are not in the business anymore but they remember who we are and they respect us. So, when we say something, they just listen and do what we tell them." "I have the coolest dad on Earth!" I fangirled on Changbin's lap, looking at Yongnam as if he was the ninth wonder of the world. "What are we waiting for?" Yunho -You, know, the bear- asked pretty impatiently, making the three students and I frown. "Are you gonna see them?!" Jisung asked, his face lit up and a large smile on his lips that got even larger when Yongnam nodded to the question. "We can come, right? Can we? Can we?" The men laughed, amused by the way my father's soon-to-be-stepson -Such a weird name to call my squirrel...- reacted, knowing exactly what was going to happen. Noticing we were pretty lost, the one who proposed a job to Changbin told us we were going to say hi to my Beanie's soon former bosses. That idea made me smirk: such a great idea! Few minutes later, we all abruptly entered the club, Yongnam walking ahead of my three friends who were surrounded by all my dad's men -We were so badass! >w<-. An eerie silence had fallen and the guys in front of us opened wide their eyes, visibly afraid by their unexpected guests. One of them, probably the boss, stood up quickly and came to welcome us, a very fake smile across his face that disappeared immediately when he saw Changbin. "Did this asshole disturb you, hyung?!" The club owner asked, glaring at my friend, not knowing he probably had signed his death warrant. "Show more respect to my new member, you piece of shit." Yongnam growled, coming closer to the little boss, showing him who was still the real boss of the district. "This guy and his friends are under The Bastards' protection, now. If you don't show them respect, we'll come back." Looking at the one that everybody knew as Bad Bastard, the club owner seemed to shrink if front of my father, eyes wide open and full of fear, and nodded quickly without saying anything. "I'm sure my dad could beat Thanos with just a stare!" I grinned making Chan hold a chuckle once again. Before leaving, Yongnam told the -Stupid!- crook to pay Changbin for his hard work in his -Shitty!- club, saying my friend probably did a lot of extra hours so he had to be paid accordingly. Promptly, the guy ran to his cash desk and took a lot of cash, coming back to us and handing the money to my Beanie who coldly grab them, restraining himself to bow like the polite man he was would do. Sighing, and making us laugh, Yunho asked if he could hit someone but, jumping on his large back, Jisung told him he would have fun another time -Wow! Jisung seemed to be really comfortable with my dad's friends!-. As Yongnam asked him, the one who offered a job to Changbin -His name was Jun, by the way.- brought us back to the metro station, explaining to my Beanie he would start his work on the next weekend but didn't have to stress, everything would be alright. Then, we left the district and brought our friends back to their houses. On the way, Chan noticed the way Changbin was looking at me and, an adorable smile on his lips, told he was right, I was very special, Jisung adding I was probably a magical cat. "Maybe." My human and Beanie smiled, sharing a knowing glance. After we left Changbin and Jisung, Chan and I finally went back home, a bit tired by all our adventures. I had to admit, my human was really a sweetheart to go through all of this for me after what I did to him, after my horrible joke. But, somehow, I thought he saw all the efforts I made, how much I changed and how happy I was when we could help our friends. The situation changed me. My new friends changed me. Chan made me a better person. Whilst my human was under the shower, I was patiently waiting on my human's desk chair when the witch finally showed up in the bedroom, saying she should've chosen more difficult missions. But, chuckling, I asked her to have mercy on Chan since he was doing the biggest parts. "So, seven in-" "Wait!" I cut her off, making her frown at me. "I have something to ask." She nodded, crossing her arms on her chest. "I know my mission is done, now, but I need your help for something else." "My help? Are you on drugs, Y/n?" "I think Chan put some things in my tuna to make me be a bit nicer but I'm not sure." I smirked, giving her a playful look. "Anyway! Like I said, I know I finished my mission but I'm afraid other young men could fall in the trap of this club." "That's not your problem, Y/n." She coldly said, sitting on the bed, tilting her head on the side. "Why do you want to help them?" "Because I want and I can. But I need you to bring me an... accessory." The witch raised a brow and listened to me, pretty proud to see me wanting to help people I didn't even know. Then, she agreed and, on the day after, I could put my plan in motion. The idea was simple: with a camera hung around my neck, I just had to sneak into the club by a vent and record what was happening inside, knowing those stupid crooks would talk about their business. And that was I've done -Okay, I admit, I played the Mission Impossible soundtrack in my head when I was crawling in the vent... What?! You would do the same, don't lie to me!-. The witch was waiting for me outside the club, drinking a cup of tea, sat on a bin. Unhooking the camera from my neck, she told me I would see my next mission on the day after and it would be easier than the other ones. I smiled, wanting to thank her for having mercy on Chan, but she added something that made me frown. "Be ready, Y/n. You're getting closer to your last mission and I know you won't like it." Her words were playing on loop in my mind on my way back home. What did she mean by I wouldn't like it? It would be my last mission, I would help two other people and get my true form back soon. Why would I not like it? I was thinking about it when, turning at the last corner of Chan's street, I finally saw my human. But not alone. "Uh?! Who's that?" I wondered before opening wide my eyes while my heart sunk. No, it wasn't possible...
