❤️ for the fic ask
💚 for fic bits!
Another semi longer "bit" lol but I've had this one in my WIPs for a while. It's more dialogue heavy and less introspective than usual but I was wanting to focus more on how they talk with each other. Set back in the Zaofu era before they left home, where Baatar was a lot sulkier and Kuvira apparently made a regular habit of inviting herself in through the window.
--
Baatar scoffed the moment she was out of earshot. "I could fold a sheet of tin into any random shape and call it a representation of my feelings but you wouldn't see anyone calling me a prodigy for it~" he looked down at the schematics he'd been working on before his mother had passed by, suddenly his mind wasn't in any mood to work. Everything felt inadequate now.
"Ooh someone's angry~"
Baatar turned sharply, startled, finding Kuvira currently with her elbows over the windowsill like she were some kind of burglar infiltrating the estate.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
She heaved herself over in a fluid movement "I sensed a disturbance in the universe and knew I had to come check on you." Which meant there was something else she was supposed to be doing right now, but chose to be here instead. Her slender fingers brushed under is jaw "What's the matter? You look particularly perturbed at the world today~"
"It's nothing." He muttered, annoyed with himself over how evidently he wore his emotions on his face "My mother just wants me to go to the exhibition, to I guess-- stand around and try not to get in the way while she impresses them with her other children."
"Yeah I know." Kuvira replied, "She wants me on security. Just in case anyone plans to steal a sculpture or something." She scoffed, clearly feeling it was an endeavor that would go just as well if there was security there or not. "I fear for the stability of our very culture if such a dreadful thing were to happen!"
Giving Baatar a light smack on his arm, she headed for the doorway, "Come on. We can both go and stand around if that's what's so needed of us."
