I need to never look at youtube comments on.... well anything really because while most of them are inane but harmless there's always a few that make me want to throw people through windows. But anyway that's besides the point because I am laughing hysterically at someone in the comments of the ep where Second Prince and Ye Ling'er talk on the roof going "I wonder if the second prince is playing her?" and I'm like you. wonder. WHAT ELSE DO YOU THINK HE'S DOING????
#EVERYTHING he does is playing someone one way or another lmao#and it's super important to realize that that's not actually mutually exclusive with him feeling or expressing a genuine sentiment#I think he's not strictly lying about being forced to play the politics game whether he wants to or not#that doesn't mean he's not manipulating her sympathies#he's good at finding the perfect mostly-truth to use to his advantage#like when he was talking about how he feels he and fan xian really have a lot in common and he admires fan xian a lot#those aren't lies - he says that in private! - but it doesn't mean he's not still going to try to kill fan xian if he decides it's necessar#anyway. youtube comments are a special circle of hell god bless#joy of life#joy of life 2

✨Sebastian Sallow Spicy Oneshots.
In the interest of ✨aesthetics✨, I'm compiling all my spicy oneshots together to link back to my masterlist. I'm a turtle writer but I'll update this list as I write more. All stories crossposted to wattpad & AO3.
Sebastian Sallow x unnamed female character. Mostly Sebastian's POV. Triggers and content warnings on each post. All characters are 18+. Minors dni, please and thank you. 🔞
Friendly disclaimer: if you're uncomfortable with Hogwarts Legacy smut, please keep scrolling and do not engage ✨🦋💙 I am of the opinion that it is possible to use ones ✨imagination✨ to age-up characters and explore adult themes in a healthy and appropriate way.
✨ Feigning Indifference | Explicit | Quidditch Smut, Beater!Sebastian, Feral!Sebastian, Shoulders!Sebastian 1.8k words.
Thanks to his seventh-year growth spurt, Sebastian is hardly any smaller without his bulky gear on — a fact he uses to his full advantage to shoulder through the crowd. It takes him several minutes to wind his way through; supporters and haters in equal measure jostle for his attention, girls squeal and find excuses to touch him, Imelda criticises his technique as he passes (even though he just won her the bloody match), and somebody lets off a series of explosions overhead that shower the crowd with green and silver sparks. — And on the edge of it all, standing alone by the stands, there's you: arms crossed, little pout on your cute face, feigning indifference.
✨ Pandora's Book | Explicit | Unhinged Sebastian | Objectophilia | ongoing.
Seeking distraction from his interminable apathy, or a temporary relief from his guilt that didn't resort to obliterating his own memory, the girls he took made him feel good, said pretty things that made him believe, for a while, that he wasn't broken and irredeemable. But then, issues of that nature were likely a job for St Mungos rather than some girl's mouth in the back of a disused classroom, and over time, the thrill of mindlessly fucking his pain away began to dull, and he recoiled from their sweet nothings and gentle affections; like everything else in Sebastian's life, even the flames of desire eventually turned cold, and his escapades became less about feeling better and more about feeling anything.
Still, he couldn't say with any measure of truth that he'd felt anything like this from a book before.
✨ Good Boy | Explicit | Needy Sebastian 1.5k words.
On bad days like these, Sebastian simply couldn't believe in love until it held him close and kissed him and told him he wasn't the deplorable monster he believed himself to be. Love had always evaded him, but by some stroke of luck he wasn't deserving of, he'd found it living in the body of the girl currently squashed between him and the wall.
✨The Final Goblin | Explicit | Post-battle Sebastian 1.5k words.
Ordinarily such a demure little thing, whenever Sebastian's brilliant, powerful girlfriend unleashed her gift of destruction upon their enemies, it broke something inside his brain - as if all that raw power she tore from the ether went straight to his cock, turning him feral.
✨Tethered | Explicit | Imperio-kink Sebastian [dub-con] 1.3k words
Sebastian wasn't entirely sure why he'd used the unforgivable curse on her. He had no doubt he could've convinced her to do whatever he wanted quite easily; after all, getting what he desired came naturally to him, what with his Slytherin charm and all - but there was always the risk she'd shudder away from him, repulsed by his touch as if she could physically feel his tainted soul marring her perfect skin. For all his bravado and over-confidence, Sebastian wasn't sure he could bear it if she recognised him for what he really was: a monster.
✨Lessons in Upholstery | Mature | Sebastian is needy | Sebastian x Aurélie 1.6k words
There was a unique ache that existed when she was out of reach — one that started as a small hole in his chest before spreading rapidly until his entire being felt hollow, an ache that demanded they share a too-small bed so they had to sleep tangled together, or eat at a too-small kitchen table so she had to take most of her meals sitting in his lap.
✨ You can also read my long-fic How to Make a Villain which isn't spicy but is full of mutual pining, yearning, slow-burning idiots in love: 📔 [tumblr |wattpad | ao3]

david and max's relationship through (mostly) david's pov: a camp camp post.
🚨DISCLAIMER🚨 as i am writing this, i have not seen the new special, so if anything is incorrect or outdated as of that release, plz disregard it. also, im writing this a bit late, so ignore any grammar/spelling errors. this is also transferred from twitter, as well as a bit headcanon heavy.
i believe david sees a lot of how he was when he was maxs age in max. yknow, stubborn and frustrated. david has also mentioned (or atleast implied) he doesn't have a very good relationship with his father (him referring to campbell as "the father he never had"). but then, of course, younger david had found a solace in camp campbell and started to look up at cameron campbell. david looked to campbell as a father figure the same way that he hopes max looks up to him; the difference though, is that campbell didn't care about david, but david really cares about max.
of course, david finds out how cameron really feels, but he didn't let that ruin how he felt about camp. so, he tries to be what he wished campbell was for him, but for max, in hope that max doesn't let his parents ruin his entire outlook on the world. he wants max to know that just because some ppl are bad, doesnt mean everybody is, and that he doesn't have to be bad either. he doesn't want max to completely change himself, he just wants max to be happy, and he knows that he never will be if he is stuck with his parents; so he's willing to be patient, for everything to work out for him and max, to help him.
throught camp camp, we can see the parallels of david seeing campbell as a father for so long because he was the only adult man in his life and he seemed perfect in his naive child eyes, viewing him as an idol and putting him up on a pedestal despite campbell only seeing him as a pawn to get him out of ordeals, because he knows that david trusts and praises him in his mind and how he is able to use this to his advantage (literally just watch szn 3) due to how he has the opposite attitude towards david that david has towards him; he is completely deattatched from david and couldn't give less of a shit about him than he already does. vs. david wanting max to see him as a father figure and max still being somewhat scared of trusting him, because what if david doesnt actually care, and just wants him to be some pawn for whatever sick twisted game he's secretly planning, because he thinks that everything and everyone is a bad person or thing at their core, because that's all he's seen from his parents; why should he believe anything else? (ex. max thinking david was gonna kill him for leaving camp in szn 1 ep 8, him consistently telling david throughout the show, specifically szn 1)
parents day (szn 2 episode 12) had been a big factor in david and maxs relationship, specifically how they viewed eachother. throughout the episode, we see max being adamant about how he knows that neither of his parents are showing up. on the contrary, david is constantly assuring that they will show up, assuming that max is just being negative like usual. its important to note, that at thus point, david is blissfully unaware of how maxs parents/homelife is, which becomes a contributing factor to the building of this episode.
before david reads maxs papers, he blows up at max over his attitude, thinking that he was just trying to ruin this for david. but, after he reads his papers, he realizes that max was likely telling the truth due to his parents lack of effort put into the forms, that they really weren't going to show up and that max hadn't been trying to get in the way of his chance to impress campbell. max seems to attempt to be dismissive of the whole thing, acting like he didn't care, but when david sees him genuinely cry, he is finally able to understand max, which we see when they have their talk in the restaurant. he doesn't berate him over his reaction, like max had expected, but he sympathizes with him, telling him that it was valid for him to be upset about what his parents did to him. he doesn't epexct max to be super mature over the whole ordeal, because he recognizes that max was a child. he deserved to be cared for in a way that they hadn't provided for him. thats why david had tried so hard to get max to enjoy camp, because that's what helped him as a child, when he was like max. he understands that max wasn't a jaded cynical overlord, but a product of the environment that he grew up in. david wants what is best for him because it's what he wanted for himself at max's age.
tl,dr: david sees himself when he's younger and that's why he tries to make camp fun for him and be the person that max can look up to (like campbell USED to be for him), so he can find the same enjoyment in it that david did, because he just wants max to be happy.

soooooo !! been working on building some kind of lore around the concept of ghost spiders because they sounded very interesting to me from the brief pieces of information i could scavenge from the web. I wanted to try and incorporate this in my portrayal in a way that feels more mm, interesting, and delve a little into how their powers might work, how they're seen within drow society, what’s their connection with lolth, etc. if you enjoy rambling 👍 if not run away and save yourself bye
So, Szarkai are rarely born, but what happens when they are? How do people view them in the Underdark? If they happen to be born in a common family, for whatever reason, they will be taken from their families and begin their training to be top spies from as early as possible. They are treated like royalty, even if they’re not, which Vhaal already had the advantage of being, and envied by almost every other drow, which means they respect you…? Mm, well to your face, maybe, but it mostly means they want to kill you. So, Szarkai often receive the “princess in a tower” treatment from their families. Meaning: they are confined to their homes, can’t leave unless their matrons order them to, and if they absolutely must, they do so under disguise, due to how cutthroat drow society can be, especially murder capital Menzoberranzan.
What does this mean for Vhaal? Well, it means like all other Szarkai before him, he grew up fairly sheltered, and I’m using this term loosely here because “sheltered” within drow society means very different things than on the surface. He was still beaten and abused, whipped, tortured, threatened if he didn’t do as told, and essentially made to believe he only lives to obey the commands of his Lolth, his Matron, and his sisters, but he also didn’t experience the harshness of society as a whole outside of his noble house (ex; he never had to resort to cannibalism, or was used as target practice by the Priestesses of Lolth. Yay?) His life revolved around studying, training, and training some more. He was to do nothing else, not hobbies, nor indulging in pleasures, not until he’d graduated (he was trained privately) and his training was finished, at which point he could be sent to the surface to act as Lolth’s spy and do her bidding.
And why are they viewed as precious, exactly? Note this is not canon to dnd, because I don't care. I’m allowing myself creative freedom, and dnd lore hurts my head, so I'm making the Szarkai a little more than a genetic mutation working with the base they gave me. Now, from what I could find online, there is some precedence for this (but drow who worship Lolth are part of a cult, so it might as well just be blind belief), but we know is that the birth of a Szarkai is incredibly rare, very few are mentioned throughout their whole 6000 years of existence, and many believe it to be a blessing from Lolth on the House where they are born to basically reward them for being such good little pets for mommy (I mean, my words but… essentially Lolth’s words also I’m sure). Vhaal’krin comes from the House Symryvvin, which is frequently referred to as “the eyes of Lolth in the city”, not the highest ranked of the noble houses, but said to be one of the most devout to the Spider Queen still. His Matron is one of the most powerful Priestesses of Lolth in the city, and working under the umbrella that this is in fact a ‘blessing’ bestowed by the Spider Queen, Vhaal’krin being born a Szarkai would make perfect sense. We all know drow live in constant shame, because they can never fully live up to Lolth's demands, and they can't look like her, and in truth, the Spider Queen can never truly be pleased, and if nothing else, because Szarkai are so arachnid like in their genetics while not being full on driders, yeah she probably does like them like a tiny bit more, which essentially just means she gets off on testing you and bullying you more than anyone else because you're her favorite pet, and don't you dare complain about it.
They are described as having “have pale, bone-white, or even alabaster-white skin and red eyes.” which meant they could easily pass for elves on the surface, and not be suspected as drow, it made them invaluable as spies, and it gave Lolth reach in places she otherwise wouldn’t have (and she does want to be worshiped by more than drow and extend her reach, she just also… has a difficult time not loathing everyone lmao). They also note “Many drow thought of Szarkai as a separate race,” and that some of them “had minor deformities, such as a lack of hair, small fangs, or gnarled and claw-like hands, suggesting the popular view had a slight basis in fact.” so the idea there might be in fact something more than just albinism going on isn’t that far fetched. Now, for my personal portrayal, I'm gonna go ahead and say albinism while very rare, can and does happen within the drow community, so when a Szarkai is born, most assume they are just that: a rare albino drow, except the two are separate entities, albeit they appear very similar on the surface. Szarkai have deformities (claws, fangs, etc), plus a few… peculiarities and powers that make them very arachid-like, and an intense connection to Lolth, albino drows do not. They look similar, and are rare enough no two have existed at the same time, not even decades apart, so most people can’t tell the difference, and they’re put in the same basket. They are not. What they are is the result of direct godly meddling by Lolth. You could say she “weaves her web in the wound of their mothers to create an extension of her will into the world.” and from the moment they are born they can hear and feel a connection to the Spider Queen unlike any other because, well, they are part of her, in a sense, born out of divine favor, seen as the direct offspring or chosen vessels of Lolth herself (her flesh, her eyes and ears, her hands), created to do her bidding, and serve her purpose which they don't get to know until she wants them to know, if she wants them to. They are to be trained to carry out special missions on her behalf and cause absolute chaos.
Their birth is always shrouded in myth and mystery, always to be kept secret, with only the most trusted family members and allies aware of their existence until they are ready to fulfill their divine roles. Szarkai are hidden away and guarded until they reach maturity, trained in secret by elite tutors and protected by powerful wards, and ensuring they remain alive is as much a test of a House’s loyalty and strength as anything else. In the rare event a Szarkai child is born, the house is expected to prove its worthiness by raising and protecting the child without faltering until they reach adulthood. This absolutely does not exempt them from suffering mindless abuse, in fact, she demands more of them than any other, and failing to make them "strong" in the eyes of Lolth would be seen as much of a failure as killing them in the process of doing so. And if you fail? Well, as it often does, it will bring Lolth’s wrath and disfavor (and you know what happens when she's unhappy? Probably death). Despite being called “favored” and “blessed”, there’s no actual records or tales of a Szarkai living any longer than any normal normal drow, in fact, they tend to live shorter, more isolated lives, and go insane prior to “vanishing”. Most likely, once they outlive their usefulness or fail to keep her favor, the Queen calls them back to the abyss to consume them.
They are born with innate magical abilities tied directly to the Abyss and to Lolth, their dna isn't pure drow, and that's why there's always a little something about their appearances that give people pause. I’ll go into further detail in a bit, but the tldr is: they share a few arachnid-like traits and abilities, enhanced combat prowess, and an affinity for arachnids (shocker ik). They can also receive (be tormented by, really) visions of Lolth, no matter how far they have strayed from the reaches of the Demonweb Pits, and as you can imagine, Lolth’s whisperings will leave anyone mad in time, so they’re usually not the most stable of people.
They are always Lolth’s spies, whether they would like to be or not; their eyes and ears are hers to see through unless they can find a way to sever the connection (maybe pleading another God for help like Eilistraee could do the trick, but who knows). As they move through the Underdark and beyond to gather intelligence, infiltrate enemy ranks, and manipulate events in favor of drow interests, she is always watching, and if she is unhappy, she’s going to make sure they know that. Their very abilities seem to be crafted to make them able to blend in and remain undetected, the perfect pawns for espionage.
To the fun bit, what powers does he have, exactly? Have I thought about this an unnecessary amount of time? Maybe so. Keep in mind, I’ll be adding collateral effects to a lot of these because Lolth is an asshole lmao ain’t no way she’d just give you things without some cruel or dangerous side effect.
Shadow Manipulation
Ability to Control Shadows: The ability to control and manipulate shadows, allowing him to move unseen, create tangible constructs from darkness, or even use shadows as weapons in combat.
Shadow Meld: He can blend into shadows, becoming invisible in dim light or darkness, making him almost impossible to detect when in the dark.
Shadow Step: A teleportation ability that allows him to step through shadows, moving instantaneously from one darkened area to another within a certain range.
Possible side effects:
Shadow Corruption: Overuse of shadow manipulation will cause the body to gradually merge with the shadows, making it less corporeal. This might lead to a loss of physical sensation, light sensitivity, difficulty interacting with the material world, or/and an uncontrollable urge to remain in darkness.
Haunted by Shadows: If his concentration is broken as he commands the shadows to act on his behalf, they might become sentient or develop a will of their own, acting against his desires or even turning on him.
Lolth’s Touch
Lolth's Blessing: If he is currently under her favor, he is able to summon swarms of spiders. If he has lost her favor, there’s a good chance the spiders will turn on him and his allies if he attempts to summon them during combat.
Prophetic Visions: During his meditative state, he can receive visions or premonitions from Lolth, guiding him or warning him of future events. The visions are usually cryptic, never for his benefit, and require interpretation. There’s also a 50% chance she just thought it’d be funny to fuck with you because she can.
Spiderstep: The ability to climb difficult surfaces and crawl on walls and ceilings. Immune to being enwebbed. His movement speed is not affected by web surfaces.
Even more terrible side effects:
Divine Burnout: Lolth’s blessing can cause extreme fatigue and/or a temporary loss of other abilities. This might be especially severe if he channels too much power at once, requiring long recovery periods afterward.
Insidious Whispers: After receiving visions, he might be plagued by Lolth’s whispers, inducing paranoia, hallucinations, or even compulsions that drive them to commit acts of cruelty or betrayal against their will.
Enhanced Darkvision
Nocturnal Predator: Allows him to sense any creature through vibrations and movement in darkness within 40m of him and know their approximate location. If a creature is within this range, he can’t be surprised, and they don’t have advantage unless he is unconscious.
Nocturnal: Has advantage in darkness, disadvantage when fighting in broad daylight, as well as any spells involving light. Also he’ll fucking whine about it relentlessly.
Aura of Seduction
Seductive Ensnarement: Allows him to project an irresistible aura of charm, luring the prey towards him. If in close proximity, Vhaal'krin can focus his charm on a single target, overwhelming their senses and causing a temporary paralysis. The target becomes entranced, unable to move or think clearly, giving him opportunity to attack.
Venomous Touch
Claws: He attacks with his claws if not yielding a weapon, and deals piercing + necrotic damage .
Poisonous Bite: The ability to secrete poison through their fangs as he bites, dealing necrotic damage, paralysis, intense pain, or even hallucinations.
Spider Affinity
Spider Communication: Can communicate with spiders and other arachnids.
Web Weaver: The ability to create webs of various sizes and strengths, which can be used to enweb enemies, create barriers and difficult terrain.
Resilience and Immunities
Resistance to Poison: Naturally resistant to poisoning damage, fully immune to some poisons. The man's not only a cryptid, but he's also been building his immunity since he was a kid.

Promise is a promise. Let’s talk about my planned (but so far, never played) Werewolf chronicle, tentatively titled Blood Ripples Out.
Blood Ripples Out started from a few things, if memory serves. It began life as an idea for Werewolf: The Forsaken actually, but it morphed to Apocalypse as I got more into WoD over time (though I could still easily see myself playing it as Forsaken). But it mostly came from me dwelling on two video games:
1) Hotline Miami. Indie classic, full of hyperviolence and neon-soaked grime. A perfect aesthetic for Werewolf, I think, but I was particularly dwelling on the famous way almost all the levels end. After you tear through a place in a frenzy of brutal killing, the music cuts out to a dull thrum as you walk out of the bloodstained rooms you were just tearing through during your adrenaline rush, and you have to think for a moment… “Was all that a good idea? Was it worth it?”
2) Assassin’s Creed III. Almost a guilty pleasure of mine, this game. But what struck me about it was the sort of core premise of the second act of the game— the protagonist, Ratonhaké:don/Connor Kenway, desperate to protect his home and his loved ones from the colonial forces ravaging them, goes on a series of missions to kill the people leading those forces. Notably, despite his general tendency to downplay collateral damage and minimize violence, even his most precise and targeted assassinations tend to make the situation even more precarious. Ratonhaké:don wants to just stop the violence, but the violence follows him wherever he goes. It clearly isn’t his fault, he’s doing so much right… but when even doing the right thing doesn’t help, what is there to do?
You might be able to see where I’m going.
At its core, my idea for Blood Ripples Out was to empower players to act, while making sure their actions never quite fixed things. I know this is a risky path to some extent, because I don’t want the players and their choices to feel ineffectual or pointless— what I wanted instead was for them to think, with care and deliberation, about the consequences of their interactions with the world, and then be surprised by what they were able to plan for… and what they weren’t.
So to me, the chronicle was about tension cycles. Each arc starts with a problem— the first one I had in mind was a dangerous drug proliferating through the community the game was set in. This drug took advantage of vulnerable people— the addicted, the desperate, the wounded— and used them as a vessel to breed Banes and other Wyrm-tainted things. The person distributing these drugs may be aware of that being the effect, but either way, the Wyrm grows stronger so long as they continue spreading them. So, the player characters have to shut down their operation.
Then, the tension builds as the players investigate and try to find their target. They talk to the people affected, try to help them, maybe tracking down dealers and looking into suspicious activity. They might deal with threats violently, or with their supernatural powers— maybe they just talk and think their way through it all? I, of course, make note of the ways the world might respond to the player characters as they progress to the truth, and find the person who needs to die.*
Finally, the climax. All the tension is supercharged in one final mission for the arc— the werewolves know where their target is, and they hunt them down. Maybe they sneak in and kill them silently, or maybe they tear through their hideout in Crinos form, howling at the moon all the while. Perhaps they can arrange for a rival to take care of the problem for them, manipulating the situation to their advantage. Either way, it all culminates in confrontation and then, the tension releases as it’s resolved.
But then, next arc, the tension builds again. Did our werewolves solve the problem quietly and cleanly? Then there’s an easily exploited power vacuum. Maybe some shady medical corporation moves in and tries to push an equally nasty “cure” on an afflicted community, or law enforcement cracks down on all the drug trading now that no one is in control. If the PCs did things overtly, violently, then they’ve established that the community has their protection, but they might be scared of whatever things are stalking in the dark, and werewolf hunters might be tipped off to their presence. So on and so forth for any solution— nothing is perfect. But not eveyrthing is terrible, of course. People are finally recovering, maybe even benefiting from harm reduction and other community aid our PCs helped established. The people taking advantage of the community have been thrown out, at least for the moment, and the Caern grows stronger, healthier.
The core question of Blood Ripples Out, then, is not “Is what you’re doing right?” but instead “What will you do to make your choices the right choices, when the world resists happy endings?”
I don’t know the answer to that question, but I’d love to see a group try and answer it some day.
*Note: My initial conception for the game did involve a sort of metatextual requirement of the death of at least one antagonist per arc, to make the statement that the violence the PCs did was to an extent necessary, even when it did sometimes make the situation escalate. That said, such a conceit might work better for Forsaken than Apocalypse, and I would be interested in seeing how the concept of the chronicle works for characters who consistently search for nonviolent solutions.

It was late at night, Floris knew, but she could not sleep. It was a rarity for her to ever sleep early, as she was most active when the sun had gone down and others were ready for bed. She spent her nights playing her music and her mornings asleep trying to fight the tiredness that came from staying up.
This night, she had decided she would improve her skills on the piano. Floris was mostly skilled with her harp as well as her flute and did not often put the time into other instruments as she knew she should. Being in Kings Landing, she had access to a whole new set of instruments for her to use, and so once she had found the piano she knew she had to take advantage of this opportunity.
Her fingers fumbled with the keys at first, trying to find her perfect tune. But now, she had gotten into the flow of the music and began to play a song she had written long ago. It was a sad song, one she wrote when she was only twelve years old and curious about the piano. Believing she was alone, she played on.
Her eyes rarely left the keys as the music filled her ears, but once she had come to a small pause in the song she looked around her. Seeing a figure next to her caused her to jump up, gasping quietly at the surprise. She now stood, eyes wide in fear, looking at this person who had decided to watch her play. She was shocked there was anyone who was up at this time of night, as well as someone who was coming to this room.
It took her only a second to realize it was Garmund Hightower. His soft brown locks and dark eyes were extremely recognizable to her, as she had thought about him quite a lot in the past few days. He was her potential betrothed, something that was extremely new and confusing for her. Floris had decided to trust Lady Samantha Hightower in her decision to betroth the two, as Lady Samantha had made her feel safe unlike she had in a long time. She wanted to believe that this boy in front of her was good and kind, but in truth, she barely knew him. Their first meeting had been very monitored and full of pleasantries. She did not know what to think of him besides the fact that they were to be potentially married one day and that Lady Hightower seemed to be extremely fond of him.
She studied him for a moment, shocked he was truly here with her. It was extremely quiet and dark. "Ser Garmund, a pleasure to see you, you scared me a bit, that is why I had that reaction..." She trailed off, looking around the two of them, studying their surroundings. "I was just- uhm, playing the piano. I have a hard time falling asleep, so..."
Midnight music
Starter with @thefourthstormfloris
Garmund paced the red keep, his footsteps echoed through the dimly lit corridors, their rhythmic beat marking out a restless, repetitive pattern as he walked back and forth. The cover of night had cast its dark veil over the city, but sleep remained elusive for Garmund. Despite the heavy exhaustion that weighed upon him, his mind refused to quieten, his thoughts a chaotic maelstrom that kept sleep at bay. He stalked around, the dim light from the torches casting harsh shadows on the stone walls as he moved restlessly.
Garmund paused his pacing, his eyes drawn instinctively towards the night sky. The stars glittered in the vast, dark expanse overhead, their countless points of light like tiny pricks of light in the velvety black canvas. They seemed to gaze down upon him coldly, their distant beauty untroubled by the worries of the mortal world.
Bored out of his mind he wondered if he might catch a glimpse of the ghosts haunting the keep. There was the cruel Maegor, forever wandering the secret passages or the witchlike unfortunate Rhaena and her little daughter Aerea. As he turned the corner, He stiffened as he heard a strain of music. It was faint, like a whisper carried on the wind. He recognized the sound of a piano, the haunting, mournful notes hanging in the air. The music was beautiful, but strange, out of place in the dark night. Could it be a real ghost? thought Garmund cautionusly.
Yet his curiosity got the better of him, and he found himself slowly making his way in the direction of the sound. The music grew louder, the notes takiing on a bittersweet lilt that tugged at something deep within his heart. As he approached theplace from which the music emanated, the sound washed over him like a wave, filling his senses. their sorrowful charm pulling him closer still. He hesitated for a moment, hand on the door handle, then pushed the door open, revealing the source of the song.
His eyes widened as he recognized the familiar figure hunched over a piano.

regarding obikaka, i too find the ship so off putting because it's mostly for obito fans who don't even like kakashi but use him to make obito look superior by making kakshi weak or by having Kakashi constantly be sorry to Obito (for what exactly?). and I think canon itself lay the groundwork for that because obito is such a weak character with such weak motivations that kishi himself used kakashi to validate obito's non existent pain and motivations. It was insane seeing that whole flashback sequence of obito's childhood where his big under dog story is being in a one sided competition with a Kakashi and feeling inferior to Kakashi in his training and his crush on Rin meanwhile in the background Kakashi is shutting down after having to witness his father driven to suicide at age 6 by the village he has to continue to live in. Even Rin's death, on which obito's entire villain origin story hinges, is far more traumatic an experience for Kakashi than it can be for obito. And yet kishi writes adult Kakashi and obito with Kakashi completely racked with guilt and obito and everyone else, including Edo tensei Minato acting like that guilt or obito's weird self righteousness over kakashi's guilt is justified. Because obito's pain and villain origin story completely falls apart unless you have Kakashi specifically, who has objectively suffered far more without turning into a mass murder of innocent people, validate that pain and villain origin story. So obito fans are basically taking their cues from kishi when they continue to write exactly that in their fics and hcs and only use Kakashi as a means to validate obito and nothing else
Hi, sorry it took me awhile to answer this but there's a lot to unfold here so I needed a clear mind to answer it properly... Anyway,
No one in canon blamed Kakashi for what happened except Kakashi himself, everyone else including Obito, didn't think any of it was Kakashi's fault, yeah at first Obito was pretending that he blames Kakashi because he wanted Kakashi by his side when he achieves his goal, he was taking advantage of Kakashi's guilt to convert him exactly like Madara did to Obito using his pain to make him see how corrupted the world is and that there's no other way except Infinite Tsukuyomi but later he admitted that he never blamed Kakashi and that he knows the truth about Rin's death and that he even doesn't want Kakashi to suffer or keep feeling guilty, he just wants Kakashi to be happy too
Having said that, the way the toxic part of the Obikaka shippers and some of Obito fans are acting is not only making Kakashi way out of character, it's doing the same to Obito too, they aren't just ruining Kakashi's image, they are ruining Obito's too because like you, so many people ends up getting the wrong picture about Obito, and ends up hating him because of the way they are portraying him
Not only that canon Obito didn't blame Kakashi, canon Obito never looked down on Kakashi either, at first he was just pretending because he believed that it's the only way to make Kakashi see that his plan is the only way but he acknowledged the fact that Kakashi had the power and the means to kill him several times but he chose not to
In Obito's perfect dream world he didn't just want Kakashi by his side, he also acknowledged the fact that Kakashi is just as good and qualified as him and that he can easily be the Hokage too if he wants
So like I said, those types of toxic fans aren't only being unfair to Kakashi, they are being unfair to Obito too and are putting people off from the entire ship and from Obito too, they are forcing so many people to hate their favorite character and misunderstand him.
You know, this might sound a bit silly but I noticed that this type of shippers never tag things as Kakaobi, it's always Obikaka to them because they just can't stand the thought of Kakashi being on top lol, I always look at the tags of the Kakashi and Obito posts first, if I see the Kakaobi tag there, I immediately know that this person isn't part of the toxic fandom and by that I don't mean that everyone who tags posts as Obikaka is part of the toxic part of the fandom, no... I mean that the toxic part of the fandom hates the Kakaobi tag.
@loadbearinonion explained perfectly the mindset of this type of shippers, not just in the Obikaka fandom, in a lot of Kakashi ships when they make Kakashi a lot smaller and weaker than he actually is while making the other character so big and strong and perfect even tho in canon both of them are equal in size and strength and everything
This is not just sad, it's homophobic and disgusting.

Dangerous Dick Grayson headcannons please?
i’m a little hazy from all the timber week writing but i hope these are to your liking babe
dick's the one who started the gotham's habit of looking upwarda. previously, a low level mobster or thug would dash into a building, or corner themselves into presumed safety, or just believe they'd managed to twist and turn around the city enough to lose any vigilantes on their tail, all the while checking wildly around themselves to ensure they weren’t followed. it's easy for the gcpd to storm into a building, guns up and whipping them left and right like madmen, making sure to check every crevice and hidden corner to find who they're pursuing. but none of them ever thought to look up, which is where dick his every time, without fail. you don't forget the first time a whirlwind of bright colours, brighter laughter, and a mean right hook descends on you from above.
they say that every performance has a bit of truth to it, a hint of the actor shining through the character, but that small pearl of honesty was surrounded by a bed of lies that created the show. one performance dick perfected was his poker face, unreadable when he wants it to be, perfectly and falsely clear when he decides to make it so. it's fun in a relatively low-stakes game with his family, but undercover operations are much more lively when some pretty little thing interrupts high stakes poker games and cleans everyone out. playing for money is all well and good, but it's when people start betting bits and pieces of information, of contacts, of blueprints, of plans, that the job starts getting interesting. dick locks his poker face neatly into place and completes the mission, neatly patting down the urge to laugh.
he's more than famous for his acrobatic skills, but dick's hand-to-hand prowess is the best sort of unnoticed. the sort that's been forged and shaped by batman, tempered by shrike, honed by the justice league, fine-tuned by metahumans on the group of young gods he calls the teen titans. dick's fast, is the thing, and when a relatively slim and short guy starts going up against brawlers three times his size, he learns real quick how to use his speed to his advantage, how to shift his balance to always come out on top. (birds fight differently than bats, dick says, and though they may not show it, his younger siblings and hanging off every word.)
back before the sprawling reach of vigilantes, back before there was a bat for every corner of the city, gotham only had two guardians: batman and robin. dick and bruce hauled the city out of the darkness, and they managed it mostly alone. with alfred's assistance of course, and jim and later barabara, but those first couple of years? it was just the two of them. as such, bruce taught dick everything nearly he knew, thinking one day dick may have to guard the city alone. he drilled dick in combat and taught him to case a crime scene in seconds, to slink his way around computer systems the way he does the vents of a house, to think differently than most because being a detective required an imagination that was a hop and a skip away from average. most vigilantes now have their own specialty, but dick was trained in an age when that luxury wasn't available, when being a jack of all trades, master of none, was better than master of one.
and the thing was, dick knew people. a magical fiasco? he had zatanna's fondness and constantine's respect, and he'd take care of whatever warlock had decided to test their luck flanked by two of the most powerful magical beings in the business. espionage trouble? he has slowly growing allyship with midnighter, and anyone who learned to swim with the sharks of gotham's upper crust could survive almost any social situation intact. interdimensional threat? he's considered an anchoring point, a constant, in countless other universes. and he has hundreds of people at his back in every one. if dick grayson himself wasn't dangerous enough, the number of people whose loyalty he's won sure is.

Marinette's Dream: a Look into Her Subsconcious
Marinette's dream is a lot deeper than just fearing her identity will be exposed because she made the wrong choice with Alya. But that's as good a starting point as any.
Alya
Ever since she became Ladybug, Marinette's been painfully aware of the importance of her role and the heavy burden on her shoulders, something that sets her aside from Chat Noir as she herself pointed out in Reflekdoll. That burden has only become heavier since she became the new Guardian.
The effects her new role was having on her were wrecking her social life and her mental health; eventually leading to Luka's akumatisation and their later breakup as well as her almost drifting apart from her friends, who were also akumatised due to her secrets.
But all that stress was resolved once she let Alya in, right?
Wrong.
While it is undeniable that Alya has been a huge help ever since she learned the truth and Marinette's been able to rely on her, that doesn't change the fact that Marinette has developed trust issues during her time as Ladybug. Even before becoming the Guardian, she still had to make sure the people she chose as temporary wielders were trustworthy and could be entrusted with the mission of returning a miraculous; a mission Alya herself almost failed to accomplish.
But now Alya's no longer Rena Rouge only in extreme circumstances, now both Trixx and the Fox Miraculous are always under her care.
And, even if Alya's proven herself to be a loyal friend over and over, that is still a terrifying prospect: Because Alya's own characterisation gives plenty of opportunities for her to put certain priorities over others.
Up until Sapotis, she was almost obsessed with finding out the truth behind Ladybug and Chat Noir; her first instinct after transforming herself was to ask some personal questions to Ladybug until she gently told her to reel her energy in.
Alya is also especially interested in finding out information, more so if said information has anything to do with the miraculous. Don't forget Sentibubbler isn't the first time Marinette's feared she made the wrong choice with her; she panicked as well in Feast after Alya dibulged an awful lot of information regarding past miraculous holders in her blog.
And now that Hawk Moth not only has upgraded to Shadow Moth, but he also knows the holders' identities, a fact he already used against them in Optygami, Marinette's more on edge than ever.
Nino
Believe it or not, Marinette's fear that Alya might've told Nino is perfectly justified.
Alya and Nino are a strong couple who share many things: interests, they're the first ones to know each other's secret identities, they even got akumatised together... They're very in sync, which is something Hawk Moth knows and has used to his advantage.
In Heroes' Day, Rena's akumatisation into Rena Rage then led to Carapace becoming vulnerable enough to be akumatised himself. And in Optygami, SentiNino became the perfect mole because Alya would have never suspected of him.
If that weren't enough, Nino is the one person Alya has ever "betrayed" Marinette for. Despite being sworn to secrecy, that didn't stop her from telling him that Marinette is in love with Adrien back in Animan. Sure, it might've been to get him to give up on her, but that doesn't change the fact that she betrayed Marinette's trust to some degree.
Chloé
Now this is the most interesting part of the dream.
Of every temporary holder Marinette could've dreamt about (say, Kagami, who could've accused her of sabotaging her relationship with Adrien in Heart Hunter), she subconsciously chose Chloé.
And you might be wondering; why?
After all, even if Marinette could've done things differently, Chloé was still mostly in it ("it" being the superhero business) to stand out, be popular, and ultimately betrayed Ladybug either way solely because she couldn't compromise and just had to get her way with things.
The answer is simple; because Marinette feels guilty over Chloé's situation.
Even if Chloé turned out to be more trouble than she was worth, Marinette still cares about her to some degree; she feels responsible for her. Being Ladybug and therefore Chloé's idol has allowed her to see her most vulnerable side, to the point she even shows sympathy over a bully who's tormented her and her loved ones in the past.
Deep down, Marinette blames herself for the hole Chloé's dug herself in, because it's a direct result of her secret identity policy. Is she entirely at fault? No, of course not. Chloé dug her own grave. She chose to betray Ladybug and to abuse her position as Queen Bee to be exceptional rather than as a chance for personal growth. But Marinette is still a sympathetic person who hates seeing others suffer.
Remember she got genuinely worried when she saw Lila approach Chloé. Because even if both are bullies, Marinette is perfectly aware that Chloé is the lesser of two evils and that whatever Lila had told her, was meant specifically to hurt her.
Chat Blanc
Even though this is supposed to be the most surprising part of the dream, it's also quite obvious, don't you think?
In the end, Chat Blanc is the ultimate manifestation of Marinette's biggest fears.
Marinette has some clear trauma resulting from her experience at Chat Blanc's timeline. If finding herself in an apocalyptic world weren't bad enough, Chat Noir, her kitty, was both responsible for it and deeply traumatised himself.
And what does she know about the reason behind it? That it was a result of them knowing each other's identities.
That's literally it.
She never learned Chat is Adrien and the two were actually in a loving, stable relationship. She never learned the true factor that ruined everything was actually Gabriel. She never learned Gabriel was really Hawk Moth, or that he was so obsessed with his own goals that he was willing to sacrifice his son's sanity, causing the world to burn up in flames in the process.
She knows nothing of it.
All Marinette knows about that timeline is: She and Chat Noir revealing who they are to each other equals total destruction.
Summing up, Marinette's dream is a perfect and concise summary of her deepest fears. It's a manifestation of numerous traumatic and/or stressful experiences we just had never seen the aftermath of. And I, for one, feel like I have to applaud the crew for that.

My Little Secret.
Pairing: Ransom Drysdale x Innocent!F!Reader
Genre : Fluff, little bit of Angst
Warnings: none
Requested: nope
Summary: Y/N listens to music 24/7 on Spotify. At first Ransom is irritated, but now he knows just how to use the application to his benefit. I mean, come on, it can't be considered stalking if it's his wife, right?
Author's Note: Hiya peeps! oml a ransom drysdale fanfiction 😳 if I ever meet this asshole in real life I'd sock him in the jaw but in fiction? mamma mia. enjoy!
---
Does she really love an app more than me?
Ransom scoffed to himself as he opened his laptop, clicking on the music app, Spotify. He rarely used it, but his wife was obsessed with it. She listened to music 24/7; singing along to the soft tunes in her playlists while working, reading, cleaning, cooking, anything. Ransom thought it was insane how submerged she was in the activity.
Until that activity gave him an upper-hand in their relationship.
When he had first opened the app on his laptop, he was a tad bit surprised at the "Friends Activity" feature. He saw her account. Then, as more months passed, he started noticing how when she was happy, she'd always be listening to some happy playlist, when she was sad she'd be listening to sad songs, et cetera. And he started using it to his advantage.
Now, everyday before leaving his office he'd check the app to see what playlist she was listening to. If it was a happy, dance playlist, well and fine. But a sad one? Ransom's mood would also sour because my darling is not feeling okay. While going home, he'd buy something for her; mostly flowers or chocolates, or a nice little trinket that he'd find in the displays of shops that he thought his wife would enjoy.
He never told her about it. What he was doing would be considered stalking but come on, is it stalking if she's your wife? As the app finally loaded, his eyes immediately strayed to the Friends Activity and his heart clenched when he saw her listening to her sad playlist that she had named Melancholy. Sighing, he turned off the laptop and left his office for the night.
As he drove back home, he stopped outside a flower shop and bought an adorable little bouquet of mixed flowers. "She'll love it," the florist assured him, assuming he was buying it for his significant other. He gave her a quick smile and got back into the car, driving home as fast as he could. When he reached home, his heart broke at the sniffle he heard.
"Kitten?" Y/N's head shot up at her husband's voice as she hurriedly wiped her tears, getting up from her spot on the couch. "Hi, welcome home," she whispered, giving him a quick peck on the lips, smiling widely to avoid being caught. "Hello, how was your day?" He wanted to sigh, to chide her for keeping her bad mood from him, but he only smiled at how cute she looked trying to hide her true feelings.
"It wasn't bad! So, shower first and dinner later or dinner first?"
Now was the time. "Kitten, the truth, please. How was your day?" He raised a stern eyebrow when her face fell. How does he always read me so well? Knowing she couldn't hide now, she hung her head low as her shoulders sagged. "It was bad," she muttered. Ransom pulled her close, her head resting on his chest, his chin atop her head. "What happened? I swear if it's those fucking coworkers of yours—"
Her silence gave him the answer. The thing is, when Ransom and Y/N had started going out, everyone in the city was shocked. A cute, innocent little thing like her dating an asshole like him? Why? She had lost quite a few friends when she told them, but Ransom was there for her. "You don't need them, you have me." He was right. While the world saw him as a first-class jerk, he was the softest soul with her.
Her priorities were always placed before his. He took care of her, treated her like no previous boyfriend of hers had, and within 2 years of dating, he had proposed. People were even more shocked. She managed to get him to settle down?! How?! Then the gossip began. "He has to be cheating, I mean look at him. Look at her," she had heard one time after the engagement. That had made her super upset.
"Ransom, they're talking… someone said you were cheating on me…" She had broken down on his chest that night, crying her eyes out. And Ransom had immediately switched off the television. He sat up, holding her close. "You know I'd never do that, angel. Why would I, when you're with me? Do you really think those women out there have the same effect on me that you do? Huh?"
"Well, they said… they said I was ugly."
"What?! Those fucking whores—"
"Ransom, don't call them that," she had chided, swatting his chest. He caught the hand and brought it to his lips, kissing each fingertip. "If it makes you feel better, no, I'm not cheating on you. I love you a little too much to do that. You mean the world to me, Y/N, there's no one on this planet I'd rather be with than you. And you are the most beautiful person I've ever seen, in and out," he told her sincerely.
Her crying ceased. "Thank you." And he held her close the entire night, rubbing her back as she slept on him. People talking about him? He could handle that, God knows he had been handling that for years. But them talking about her? His perfect, angelic, goddess-like fiancée? No, no, he wouldn't handle that. That whole thing was 4 years ago. People still talked.
"What did they say to you, Y/N?" he asked, coming back to the real world.
"They asked me why I was still with you." He exhaled loudly through his nose when Y/N's arms tightened around him. "I told them I loved you. You are nice, you're not what everyone says you are. But then Amy talked about… about how you used to be— what was the word she used? Oh, uh, yeah, she said you were something of a Casanova before you met me. But I told her that was over."
His arms snaked around her waist, his fingers gently dancing over her hips as she continued speaking. "She insisted that people can't just change over a small period of time. I tried ignoring her but then she started gossiping with someone else about you. And then I snapped at her. But you know me…" Ransom hummed, pressing his lips to her forehead.
His wife had a docile soul. Everything from her looks to her mannerisms was soft. She couldn't yell, she couldn't tell people off— she was too pure to do that. The world needed people like her, to be honest. That was also one of the things he liked about her. Sometimes, he thought about how beneficial it would be for her to hold her own in a fight, but his ego shoved the thought down each time.
He liked being her big protector. He loved taking care of her like that. "Yes, I know, angel. You're too good for this world, you know that?" he mumbled, slightly pulling away from her so he could cup her face, looking into her eyes. She huffed and looked away. "I'm too soft. I can't help it. I don't want to be this way." He chuckled and leaned over to kiss her. "Oh no, you should definitely be this way."
"Why?"
"Because it suits you. Don't change for people who don't even care about you. I like you like this; gentle, caring… you have the biggest heart in the world, Y/N. And I want to keep it that way. Don't let people ruin your innocence. Keep being you." He pressed her closer when she started sniffling again. "You're too good to me," she pouted and he laughed. "That's my duty as your husband, kitten. Look, I bought flowers."
He took out the bouquet from his bag, smiling when Y/N's eager hands accepted it. "Thank you! Oh, these are so beautiful! Let me replace the flowers in the vase on the dining table!" Squealing, she walked away from him, leaving him to stare after her with an infatuated smile. You have no idea what you do to me, angel.
---
"Night, Ran," Y/N yawned, keeping her phone away. He held his arm up and Y/N snuggled into his side, allowing him to wrap his arm around her side. "Night, sweetheart," he whispered, leaning down to kiss her nose. He watched TV for some time until the match got boring; then he switched it off and carefully lay down on the bed, about to doze off when Y/N's phone rang. He blinked. Who'd be calling at his hour?
He lifted the phone off the nightstand, grimacing when he saw the Caller ID. Amy. As soon as he picked the phone up, Amy started blabbering. "Hi! Sorry I'm calling so late, Y/N, but I wanted to apologize for how I spoke to you at work today. It was wrong of me, really, I hope you can forgive me!" Ransom stayed silent, his jaw clenched. He had been hearing that line for years.
"Ransom, it's okay, she apologized, she won't be doing it again. She told me so herself!"
It was never the last time.
"Are you done?" he snapped and Amy froze on the other side. "M-Mr Drysdale—" "Listen, I don't want to hear it. I'm not Y/N; she has a heart of gold, God, I wonder why I let her hang out with people whose hearts are made of pure shit. How many times have you apologized for the same thing, huh? Using my girl's pure heart to your fucking advantage like that?"
"You're being—"
"I'm being what? I'm being rude? Who started it? If you ever mention our marriage in front of Y/N again, I'll have your fucking head." Amy bristled on the other side. "Are you threatening me?" Ransom smirked. "If you don't want to be threatened, I suggest you keep your nose out of other people's business. What mine and Y/N's relationship is like is no one's concern."
Amy stayed silent. "Gossiping won't get you anywhere. I have the best lawyers in the city, and I swear, if Y/N comes crying to me one more time about how someone was rude to her, I'll sue. Trust me, I will take legal action. Is that understood?" Amy quaked at his menacing tone. "Y-Yes, sir." Ransom's lips curled into a devious smile. "Great." And he ended the call.
"Ransom, who was that?" Y/N sleepily murmured next to him. She hadn't heard a word of the conversation, but could tell he was on the phone. "No one you need to worry about, sweetheart, go to sleep. I'm here." He lay down next to her, pulling her close. "You know, I have a question." He nodded at her to go on. "How do you always know when I'm going to be in a bad mood?"
"What do you mean?" he smiled, knowing exactly what she meant. "I mean, I have been wondering for years! Everytime I happen to be in a bad mood, you bring home a gift. It's like— it's like you can read my mind! How?! It can't be a coincidence, it has happened a lot of times for it to be a coincidence," she rambled and Ransom's heart fluttered at how innocent and adorable she looked.
"I have my ways," he teased, lightly poking her nose. "You're not gonna tell me, are you?" she pouted and he couldn't help but lean forward, pressing his lips to hers. "Nope, just so I can keep surprising you." She giggled, snuggling further into his arms until her face was pressed into his bare chest. "I love you so much, Ransom," she whispered. "I love you more, my sweet little angel."
Both of them went to sleep with giddy smiles on their faces.
Oh, and the Spotify thing? That was his little secret. Shh, don't tell anyone!

Kaz Brekker x alkemi Reader - Strange Truths
A/n: This was so fun to do and me being an Alkemi really was happy with this request! Thank you! I'm so sorry it took so long though!
Warnings: None? Needles?
Request: ok ok so i have an idea- a kaz brekker x alkemi reader where kaz accidentally drinks one of the reader's newest chemical (prolly cause jesper slipped it into his drink) and it makes him super flustered and vv talkative and the reader has to keep him in their lab until they can finish the antidote and kaz tells the reader he likes them right after he takes the antidote so the reader realizes he's actually serious-
I do not own six of crows or shadow and bone or you!
Most people underestimated alkemi's but once they did it once they would not do it again. Kaz Brekker knew that alkemi's could just be as dangerous as a squaller all the way to a shadow or sun summoner if they were powerful enough. To be fair, very few were that powerful but most could kill you slowly and far worse than a heartrender so...
But you were a very powerful alkmei- one of the most powerful to ever live and that was why you are part of the crows. You can fight just fine, but the dregs had seemed to be getting very creative with their ways of killing to getting information and this was all thanks to you.
Though not all appreciated your talents.
Nina has grown up thinking that the alkemi's were weak was a part of those few, Inej just didn't understand you, Jesper understood but was still trying to come to terms with his own Grisha powers, Wylan thought you were amazing and Matthias was just flat out scared.
But that all changed when one day you poisoned a whole army.
Oh, Kaz was just... Happy? No one really knew, but sometimes he just seemed a bit more satisfied about how things were going with you around. Unfortunately for you, that meant he had to spend a bit more time around you trying to come up with more ideas. And that would have been just fine if it weren't for the fact that you were falling helplessly in love with Dirtyhands.
Ya, fuck.
Lately, you had been conjuring up something new in that lab of yours in the basement of the Slat. It was almost like a truth potion but not quite, it was to make it easier to get information out of its victims but not enough to notice.
Officially it was finished and you were going to go tell Kaz but you realized today everyone was going to be at the Crow Club. Just your luck that you hated socializing.
You sigh but you quickly grab the elixir and start running to the Club. Being late to a meeting was never really your foreté.
Finding finally the Crows even with the sea of people around you spot them when you meet Kaz's eyes. Of course, you had to meet his eyes. You go and sit down beside him as everyone had already decided on their drinks.
"Y/n's getting them this time since she's late!" Jesper grins in triumph as you just roll your eyes. It doesn't matter you guessed he was almost always going to be the one late so you figured it wouldn't matter if you had done it this one time. Besides, it would give the sharpshooter (and his boyfriend) a break for once.
Getting up from your seat you walk towards the bar and ask for everyone's drinks. He hands you them and you talk to the bartender as you walk back towards the group.
"I'm your waiter for one time only, don't get used to it."
Kaz just clears his throat and starts talking about a plan that's really in reality just a decoy because of Inej's intel there would be Dime Lion spies in the Crow Club today.
And why not take that to your advantage?
Suddenly Kaz stops talking and you lift an eyebrow at him. He just shakes his head and the others just shrug their shoulders and start a different conversation.
For a bit, you do engage in conversation with the other Crows but Kaz just seemed different? Like he was trying not to burst out talking or something?
"Dirtyhands, you good?"
Instantly his face flushed a bright pink and he stutters out;
"Ya-ya fine. Totally fine, everything's good. Go back to whatever I guess. Just leave me alone and do your work you shouldn't have even asked, so can you please-" He cut himself off and flushed (what you didn't even know was possible) red even brighter.
What the- You always called Kaz Dirtyhands as more as a nickname than a mean term almost like a term of endearment. Although he didn't know that he never had even blinked when you used the little nickname more than necessary so why was he now?
Also to add to that fact, was that you really never called him Kaz. It was mostly to keep yourself in check so you didn't get used to him too much. It was more like reminding yourself that you both weren't on a first-name basis even if you already were.
Narrowing your eyes, you can see that his pupils are slightly dilated and that he's bitting down on his tongue really hard to stop himself from talking. This wasn't just Kaz Brekker flustered, there was something else going on here. And you had to figure at fast before the Dime Lion spies did, or if they already had.
"Brekker, I need to you answer me honestly okay?" You lower your voice and you soften your tone like you would with your targets to get information out of them. You didn't like doing it, but it was the price to pay for his safety.
He just bobs his head up and down trying not to say anything.
"What have you ingested today?"
"Just the drink. Not anything else, being that I forg-" He cuts himself off from his whisper-rant covering his hand over his mouth.
"You haven't eaten today!" Accidently you raise your voice and the anger and concern shine through your usual stone-cold tone.
Kaz widens his eyes and gives you a look to shut the fuck up. He was still the Bastard of The Barrel after all.
Wait, now that you think about it...
You reach into your pocket for your newly brewed elixir and when you take it out it almost confirms it for you.
The lid is open.
Oh, fuck maybe it's better not to cure Kaz because you might just die after this.
It all made sense now though; talkative, flustered, overused & exaggerated facial expressions, looseness of the tongue. Those were all symptoms and you hadn't even noticed.
Well... At least you knew it worked and it was effective. Very effective... Fucking hell Kaz really is going to kill you now.
Grabbing onto his coat sleeve (being extra careful not to touch his skin) you drag him out of the crow club away from the prying eyes of everyone and the shouts of 'what the hell!' From your friends.
Quickly you drag him to the basement of the Slat where all your potions, bombs, machines, elixirs, poisons and most importantly supplies are.
"You can sit there." You point at a chair in the back of the room that basically had a view of everything.
"You better make me an antidote or I swear to-"
You cut him off before he says something he'll regret later. "Go sit your ass down Dirtyhands and let the real Grisha do their magic."
He flushes again and walks over to the chair but not without muttering under his breath how Grisha cannot do magic. And how their abilities work and etc.
By the saints! Now you really didn't want to reverse that chemical elixir, he just sounded really cute. But who the fuck are you kidding? This is Kaz Brekker we're talking about and you just thought of him as cute.
Welp, this is getting interesting.
Quickly you mix some ingredients together trying really hard to go as swift as you can. No one could see Brekker like this it would kill his reputation.
You look down at the antidote and you curse under your breath. This was going to need a needle. Oh fuck, you might as well just die right there.
Hurrying over to your cabinet you quickly go through the vials wondering what size you would need till you found the perfect one. It wasn't very big, and because it was fabrikator made he wouldn't even feel a pinch. But at the same time, it would hold your elixir even if it was a very tiny vial.
"Brekker, your gonna have to put your arm up for me."
You don't turn around knowing that this probably could be your death right here in your lab. At least Kaz Brekker will kill you so at least that's memorable. You sigh, Kaz Brekkers Alkemi was killed by Dirtyhands himself.
"Why?" Most of the time Kaz would just raise his eyebrow at you but because of the fun chemicals that he had in his body that was not the case.
"You might want to roll up your sleeve as well." You say nervously turning around so the needle was visible.
"Because I'm going to have to use a syringe."
"Are you fucking kidding me right now?!"
You slowly walk over and you shake your head.
"Sleeves up."
Kas just grumbles while putting his sleeves up you can tell he's uncomfortable. Now looking back at it you didn't really know how many barrel rats have had needles before, and if they did it probably wasn't good.
"What's your favourite colour?"
He snaps his eyes to meet yours and that's the moment you press the needle in his skin.
As you thought before he didn't flinch but he looked like he wanted to kill you with that stare but his eyes seem to soften with your worried stance.
"It didn't hurt did it?"
Kaz just shakes his head and you sigh in relief. "There shouldn't be any after-effects but I might just check in to see just in case."
He's almost out the door when he stops just at the entrance.
"Your eyes."
You whip your head around to meet his dark eyes.
"What?"
Slowly he comes away from the door frame advancing on you and he shakily takes off a glove and presses his hand against your cheek.
"You asked me what my favourite colour was."
You have convinced yourself that at this moment you have stopped breathing. Nothing else matters but you two of you in this room. The feeling of his hand on your cheek sends butterflies everywhere in you. And you can't stop to think about how beautiful and terrifying those brown nearly black eyes are.
"Boss!" There's a shout from upstairs and he quickly pulls away putting his glove back on.
"So I'll be seeing you around Brekker?"
He rolls his eyes. "You know you can call me Kaz right?"
You laugh as you herd him through the door knowing that he has business to attend to.
"But I think you much prefer when I call you Dirtyhands."
The blush spreads across his cheeks albeit not as strong this time but at least you know it's not from one of your elixirs.
"Only you Y/n only you."

Look, I know I haven’t finished *any* other Untamed time travel au, but I have another one, so here we go:
We begin in Qinghe, before the death of the sect leader, so Nie Mingjue is still the heir. In fact, it’s only a few days before Wen Ruohan makes his first move when Mingjue wakes in his childhood bedroom—which is odd, because he was pretty sure he was dead. Huaisang comes running in, crying from a nightmare and Mingjue comforts him without thinking. Of course, he says something that makes Hauisang freeze and look at him more closely because Hauisang is back too—and the nightmare was the next two decades.
Well, first things first: save their father and see about preventing the war. And, barring that, ending it quickly. (It’s not perfect- Mingjue was not fully grown when he became a sect leader, and Huaisang is still a child, but they make it work and it’s *good.* without the pressures of being a sect leader in war, or the need to avenge their father, Mingjue‘s qi is more stable than it was last time, keeping his temper in better check, and Huaisang was always going to be a strategist.
This culminates in a conference in Qinghe- they don’t call it that, they call it something different, but the focus is on the next generation. It’s Huaisang’s idea - the Wen were defeated by the joint efforts of the other sects, so by uniting early, by being more involved with each other, no one sect would be able to take advantage of such isolationism. It’s a little bit UN, a little bit mutually assured destruction.
Of course, then the other sects begin arriving, and only after the formal greetings that Mingjue realizes that the heirs are acting strange. XiChen won’t meet his eyes, Wangji is practically *cuddling* the head disciple of Yunmeng Jiang, and Wei Wuxian is quite happily chattering his ear off, both of them ignoring the warning signs from Sect Leader Jiang, Madame Yu, and Lan Qiren. At least Jin Zixuan seems to finally be paying attention to Maiden Jiang, and—
“Huaisang, if I find out this is your fault—“
“Jiang-Xiong! I don’t know what you’re talking about, I really don’t!”
Mingjue turns to find Sandu Shengshu, Jiang Wanyin, Jiang Cheng, (Cheng-er) standing there, arms crossed and looking at Huaisang with well earned suspicion.
“Uh huh,” he says, flat, abs Huaisang pouts. He looks over at Mingjue. “Mingjue,” he says, face twitching at the way Hauisang’s eyes widen over his fan.
“Cheng-er,” Mingjue says, mostly to watch his love flush, (and to see Hauisang’s mouth *drop*) “I’ve missed you.”
Jiang Cheng arches abs eyebrow, and without the breadth of age he grows into, the expression is nearly identical to that of his mother.
(Behind them, Huaisang is practically livid, demanding they explain his hissed whispers. The truth is simple: they had fallen into bed together during the campaign, and again when they met, but then everybody died, Jiang Cheng turned inward to mourn and Mingjue let him go - he refused to be another body for him to mourn, and he knew his time was soon. He was getting the impression that might have been a mistake, and judging by the slant of his eyebrows, Jiang Cheng was going to tell him so. In detail.
Mingjue looked forward to it.)
With their father still alive, Mingjue ends up with the other heirs and main clan family. They’re all back, having used the time before this to address their issues at home (yunmeng bros reconciliation! XiChen processing his grief with Wangji’s help, Zixuan seeking out Yanli, but also his siblings/amassing political help - and mianmian- to counter his father) and between them actually establish the bonds needed to make this a fixit fic, lol.

loverboy (neville longbottom)
a/n: i’ve said it once and i’ll say it again, i am a SIMP for neville longbottom. also yall... one away from 1k, how’d that happen? you guys rock my socks and i love you the absolutely most! sorry this one is kind of short i just liked the concept.
you’ve been friends with neville longbottom since first year. becoming comfortable with the shy boy and his frog over the years, you began calling him a nickname that makes him wish you would see him as anything other than your best friend.
warnings: zero baby just pure fluff
neville doesn’t open up to just anyone. after years of being shut down in every conversation, left out of nearly every house activity, he’s built a wall to protect himself from the people of hogwarts who constantly make him feel less than. you’re one of the lucky ones. you’ve seen beyond his high walls, he’s opened up to you about his parents, his insecurities and eventually pulled him out of his shell to talk about girls with you.
the nickname started when he told you about his small crush on luna lovegood. he seemed so entranced by her, he kissed the ground he walked on. once you caught on to his pining, you’ve called him loverboy ever since. it’s not to be mean or tease him, you actually admired how much he devoted his time to thinking about her.
what you didn’t know, however, is that it was never luna lovegood he was talking about. when he would describe his feelings for luna her name was only a placeholder for yours. he’d loved you since the moment he laid eyes on you, thinking even your crooked teeth, frizzy haired eleven year old self was the most beautiful creature he’d ever see.
“good morning loverboy,” you call sweetly as you sit next to the dark haired boy in potions class. you never found this class particularly interesting, but being able to sit next to neville made it at least slightly more fun. his heart aches at the nickname, trying to conceal the blush that is creeping on his cheeks. “sleep well?”
“hardly,” he replies, still keeping up his façade. “harry talks in his sleep all through the night. keeps me and trevor awake for hours.”
you smile at the mention of his beloved frog. “oh my dear trevor! how is my favorite amphibian?”
neville can’t contain his smile or his heart that hammering in his chest. you’re the only person who’s ever shown interest in the things he likes, the things he goes on and on about for hours. you’ve never once stopped him from going off on a tangent about his mimbulus mimbletonia or how he’s lost trevor for the tenth time that week. you’ve never rolled your eyes when he comes to sit with you in the library. you’ve never shied away from sitting next to him in herbology though many students find his chiming in rather annoying.
“he’s good,” he replies, trying to stop himself from gazing at you for too long. “i think he misses you.”
you laugh at his response, you really do love that frog. “you better make sure i’m not replaced as trevor’s favorite girl when you finally make a move on luna,” you tease but his heart drops. he knows it’s only a joke but he can’t imagine loving anyone other than you. “if i’m losing one of my loverboys i don’t think my heart could take losing the other as well.”
except you could never lose him. he can’t think of a time when his heart would belong to anyone else. he couldn’t say the same for you. as much as he wants to be around you and knows the nickname isn’t meant to make him sad, it only reminds him of the fact that he’ll never truly be your loverboy. the time will come when you go for a weasley or maybe even that ravenclaw boy you’ve talked about in defends against the dark arts with you and neville isn’t quite sure his heart will survive it.
as professor snape opened his book at the front of the class, the class quieted down. veritaserum. you had heard about the potion, mostly from the weasley twins slipping it in their younger brother’s drink once or twice, but you’d never used it. neville begins to fidget nervously beside you, and you think you know why. privacy has always been very important to the boy and something forcing him to talk about his deepest darkest fears or worse, his parents, is probably eating away at him.
you’re wrong. he’s so nervous because he’s afraid he’ll slip up if he takes it and someone will accidentally ask him about you. he won’t be able to keep his secret anymore.
“s’alright nev,” you whisper to him, taking his hand in yours and squeezing it slightly. an act of intended comfort made him nauseous. “i won’t let anyone pull any secrets from my loverboy, promise.”
you give him a sweet smile which only makes his heart race more. you’re so beautiful, even without the potion he could’ve let that thought slip to you if he wasn’t too careful. as class goes on, he thanks his lucky stars he isn’t chosen for the demonstration. watching you brew the potion to perfection surely would have made it difficult for him to keep back all the feelings he has for you.
later in the evening, however, he did not get so lucky. the twins somehow convinced seamus and dean to slip a few drops of the potion they’d learned to make that morning into neville’s pumpkin juice at dinner. you didn’t notice or surely you would have taken it from them and scolded them for picking on the boy, but you were to engrossed in a conversation with hermione to catch it. neville almost immediately realizes what’s happened when seamus begins asking him questions.
“how your feeling, longbottom?”
“tired, honestly kind of sweaty, really think i need a shower after dinner,” he says before he can stop himself, he smacks his hand to him mouth and his cheeks go red. dean and seamus burst out laughing making all of you turn to the three of them.
“sweaty? why would you possibly be sweaty neville?” dean continues the interrogation.
“been nervous all day, especially in potions. couldn’t get my mind off the stupid veritaserum and if anyone would ask me about y/n,” neville replies with his cheeks turning more red by the minute. you now had your full attention in the boy and he couldn’t stop the word vomit spilling from his lips. “you should have seen her, she brewed the potion perfectly. she’s so smart. godric and beautiful, i-”
you immediately stop him by smacking your own hand to his mouth. “merlin’s sake what did the two of you do?”
dean and seamus have a cheeky grin spread across their lips. “fred and george gave us veritaserum to put in his juice, didn’t think this would happen.”
without a second thought you pull your best friend from the table and out of the great hall to spare him of any more embarrassment he would have to endure. neville follows you blindly, grateful that you didn’t sit there and start laughing at him. when you get to the common room it’s empty, everyone being at dinner. you pull him to sit on the couch in front of the fireplace, he couldn’t help but admire how beautiful you look in the glowing flame.
“are you okay?” you ask, pulling your hand from his to look into his eyes. i’m sorry they did that nev, you didn’t deserve that.”
“i’m more than okay,” he replies with a lazy grin on his face before switching back to his stone cold face full of nerves. “i like it when we’re by ourselves, wish it happened more often.”
“what do you mean, loverboy?”
“i wish you wouldn’t call me that,” he snaps but immediately regrets his tone. “not if you don’t mean it.”
“what are you on about? i mean it.”
“not in the way i want you to mean it...”
you’re trying to wrap you’re mind around what’s happening. sure you and neville have always been close and you compliment eachother here and there but this is different. you don’t want to take advantage of him, not when he’ll tell you everything you want to know while you can sit back and enjoy the show. you swiftly get up and tell him you’ll be right back. he sits on the couch confused as he watches you run out of the room. you make it to the great hall and everyone is looking at you as if you’ve gotten answers out of him that they’d want to know but you ignore him. you lift the tainted cup that neville had drank out of just minutes ago and take a swig.
“y/n!” hermione shrieks and you swallow the liquid. “what do you think you’re doing!”
“getting answers.” you say simply before running out of the room. you don’t feel any different, maybe it hadn’t worked. once you reach the common room again neville is exactly where you left him. “back.”
“what’d you do?”
“i drank the veritserum too,” you tell him and his eyes go wide. “this is going to be a fair conversation.”
neville swallows the lump in his throat at the thought of the two of you being completely honest with each other. he’s partly afraid the truth he’s about to hear is that you only want to be his friend, or that him confessing his feeling for you will only push you away. but there’s another part of him that’s hopeful, you took the veritaserum so this would be “fair,” that has to mean something.
“what were you doing to say when i stopped you earlier?” you ask him. “you said ‘i’ but i stopped you.”
he tries his best to push down the answer but it keeps making its way up his throat. “i was going to say i couldn’t keep my eyes off you all class.”
blush creeps onto your cheeks but you’re not certain why. you noticed him looking at you in potions but you assumed he was trying to understand how to make the potion.
“you’re turn.”
he thinks for a while, unsure of what he should ask you. “do you like matthew, the boy you talk about in ravenclaw, like like him?”
“i like him as a friend, nothing else,” you say back, your heart beginning to race. “do you like luna?”
“i never did, i like someone else.” he answers. you wish it was your turn again, you want to ask him who, part of you knows he’s going to say you given what you’ve learned this evening. you reach out to hold his hand and his touch makes your skin burn. “have you ever thought of us as more than friends?”
you want to say yes, you know it the answer he wants to hear, but it’s not the truth. you can’t lie to him even if you wanted to. before this moment, you only thought of him as a friend. not because you dislike him or think he’s unattractive, it’s just all he’s ever been to you. you take a deep breath and turn your eyes down to the floor.
“honestly, no,” you say back, neville swears he can hear his heart break within him rib cage. his heart burns at your response. he’s gotten his answer. “when did you start to think of me as more than a friend.”
he never came out and said he had feelings for you, but you’ve connected the dots. everything he’s answered, all the questions he’s asked points to him looking at you as more than just his friend. you’re not sure how to feel about it.
“first year, the minute you spoke to me i couldn’t help but think you were the most beautiful girl i’d ever seen, i still do, ” his words make your heart burst. you turn your head to meet his eyes again. they’re burning into you’re gaze. “what is it about me that’s made you only think of me as a friend, do you think i’m ugly?”
“godric no!” you say a bit too quickly for your own liking. “i never thought of you that way because that’s all we ever were neville, friends. i noticed how handsome you were last year, the long hair suited you, but i think you look nice any way you are. i had a dream about you at the christmas last year, i think that’s when i noticed how handsome you were. i guess i just never entertained the thought because you never gave me the impression you wanted anything more than this.”
he feels less shattered, less like you just ripped his heart out with your bare hands. hearing that you think he’s handsome sent butterflies to stomach. he’s quiet and so are you.
“do you want to stop?”
“no, i have another question,” he replies, pulling his hands from yours and backing away from you. you miss his touch already. maybe you did like him a little more than you thought. he braces himself for what’s about to come out of his mouth, for your reaction to what’s about to come out of his mouth. “if i asked to kiss you would you say no?”
“no.” you tell him quietly, if you thought your heart couldn’t pound any faster, it did. it feels like it’s about to jump from your chest. “do you want to kiss me?”
“merlin yes,” he almost whispers. he doesn’t move from his spot, eyes avoiding yours at all costs. always being the braver of the two of you, you take matters into your own hands. you pull yourself closer to him and rest your hand upon his cheek, forcing him to make eye contact with you again. you suck in a breath, the closest the two of you had ever been. “i’ve never kissed anyone before.”
“i know.”
you lean forward only a few centimeters until your lips are barely touching. you hesitate only because you know after this moment you can’t go back to being just friends again, this is going to change everything. even so, there’s like a magnetic pull between you too, you’re craving the feeling of his lips against yours.
while still deep in your thought and hesitations, your eyes drilled shut as you try and decide what to do, you feel his lips press against yours and you melt. it’s better than either of you could have imagined. while neville had be dreaming of this moment for six years, you had only just begun thinking about him in this way minutes ago. you place your free hand on the side of his neck and he places his on the small of your back, pulling you closer into him. You move yourself so that your sat on top of his thighs, attempting to expel any space between the two of you. his hands rest on your hips just before you pull away from him to catch your breath. his eyes flicker between yours, looking for an answer to what you’re feeling.
“i’m sorry,” he says sheepishly, thinking the worst. “do you want to stop? we can pretend this never happened.”
“i never want to stop.”
you connect your lips with his again, slinging your arms around his neck to feel the closeness again. you know he’s never done anything like this before, he’s probably nervous out of his mind, so you attempt to ease his worries by guiding his actions. in just the few minutes you’ve spent with your lips on his, you’ve because obsessed with the feeling. you can hear how heavily he’s breathing as his hand moves from your side to be entangled in your hair. you can’t help but smile, this moment is pure bliss.
you eventually pull away from each other, you decide it’s best to keep this night to just his first kiss. you lean forward and plant a soft kiss to the side of his neck before burying your face in the soft skin. eventually his breath evens out, and he moves his arms to wrap around you.
“what happens now?” he asks, hoping the veritaserum can give him some sort of clear view into your brain.
“i don’t know,” you reply, it’s honest, you have no idea what happens from here on out. “what do you want to happen?”
“i want to kiss you like that a million more times,” he breathes out which makes you laugh into his neck. looks like ther veritaserum hasn’t worn off just yet. “can we just sit here for a minute so we don’t have to think about what’s gonna come?”
“you read my mind, loverboy.”

Revelation; Part One
warnings/kinks: a/b/o (if you’re penis-repulsed this isn’t for you), smut (duh), brief daddy kink, even briefer mommy kink, cum-eating, cum-marking, cockwarming? (does it count if it’s a/b/o?), light bloodplay, borderline somniphilia (consensual), poisoning, suicidal ideation, allusions to cheating, mentions of conversion therapy, vague mentions of s*xual ass*ult (it doesn’t actually happen in the story, it’s just referred to a lot due to the nature of this universe)
uh… this is another one of those stories that’s just kinda Heavy, please be careful & don’t continue reading if doing so is unsafe for you. I have a variety of other works that don’t have such intense themes, which you can find on my masterlist!
request (+details): Omegaverse: Alphas Yukio and Ellie with a beta reader, but it turns out that reader is a late-bloomer omega who goes into her first heat unexpectedly. / Omegaverse: The setting could be anywhere. The three of them waking up with reader burning hot, believing to be sick but is actually going into heat. The reader could be by themselves when it happens and her alphas come home to a omega in heat / I can’t get this omegaverse idea out of my head, and I hope you don’t mind me telling you this. Reader being alone and confused when her heat came, her alphas gone on a mission. During the time they were gone, Reader made a nest of her alphas’s clothes out of instinct on their bed. By the time Yukio and Ellie returned, Reader is a hot mess from trying to get off, moaning their names and begging for her alphas to help her for she don’t know why she feels like this and is scared.)
synopsis: After Wade discovers you're dealing with suicidal thoughts, he takes it upon himself to help you out, leading to one disaster after another.
author’s note: thank you so much to the lovely anon who requested this for spending so much time with me & making sure everything was juuuust right! Fun fact: we pined, started dating, and broke up, started dating again, and broke up again all before this was published 🙃 sorry everybody, it’s been a rocky road for the past… forever.
Standing guard after school for a few extra bucks is a pretty sweet deal, you have to admit. You mostly just sit around with a pair of binoculars munching on your snack of choice, using a gun loaded with tranquilizer darts to drop anyone who threatens the safety of the school and its residents. If given permission, or an order to do so, you can use your bow and arrow to really take down your enemies.
You’re pretty lucky in life overall, you also have to admit, with two alpha girlfriends and a variety of friends and acquaintances, not to mention the advantages your mutation gives you.
It makes you feel even more guilty for what you’re really thinking about right now. Not Ellie, not Yukio, not keeping an eye out for threats, nothing but a simple question:
Would it be more efficient to slit your wrists with the point of one of your arrows, or to fling yourself from the top of this turret? Which would hurt worse? You look from the sharp arrow you hold in your hand to the plush grass below, managed by some of the other students.
It’s far cheaper to pay students to maintain the yard and house, not to mention it gives students like you a way of earning the kind of spending money that other students receive from their parents or from jobs in town. Your post would be snatched up in no time if you were to pass.
Speaking of parents.
Your father’s exact words to your mother were “I hate that you use a highschool mistake to keep me trapped with you forever!” the last time you happened to hear them argue. They were no longer invited to parent-teacher conferences after that.
It’s a fine reason for him to be angry, but, unfortunately, you’re the highschool mistake he was talking about. The one he’s always talking about whenever they fight. Maybe if you were gone, he’d finally be free. Maybe you’d finally be free from his resentment. He, fortunately enough, rarely lashes out at you directly; however… There’s always been a distance.
Would he love you more if you were gone? If you saved him from… Well, you? You’ve always wanted him to love you, to look at you with something other than anger or resentment. Would he finally be proud of you, for owning up to every horrible thing you are and have done by paying the ultimate price? Would everyone?
You’re holding the bladed tip of the arrow right against your wrist, almost like a normal person might hold a bracelet to their wrist -- trying it on for size, without really thinking about it.
Suddenly, though, Wade’s here. And he’s definitely thinking about it. He yanks the arrow out of your hand, accidentally snapping the wood that makes up its length.
“What the fuck are you doing?”
“I- Uh, I don’t know,” you mumble, embarrassed, because you honestly don’t. Being alone with your thoughts gives them the space to grow from their poisoned roots into something dark you don’t really recognize as yours.
“You- You don’t know?!” Wade questions, and the unusual severity of his tone stuns you to the point of laughter. “This isn’t fucking funny, what the hell is wrong with you? Why were you-?! What were you-?! What the fuck are you doing?!”
“I’m standing guard. What the fuck are you doing?” you echo dryly, resorting to quips to avoid telling him any more than he already knows.
“I’m freaking out! I can’t kill you for apparently wanting to kill you, so that’s all I can do! I thought you were on antidepressants!”
“I am. Have been for years. They don’t cure depression, they make it easier to manage.”
“Apparently fucking not! Come on, let’s go talk to somebody and get you an appointment with a psychiatrist. You’ve been on the same prescription all these years, right? Maybe you just need your dosage upped.” Wade’s not asking, he’s telling, his hand wrapped around your bicep to pull you along, although his grip isn’t as tight as you’d expect for a man of his stature, let alone an alpha.
Why does he care so much? He’s always so gentle, even when you piss him off like this. Tears well up in your eyes but you blink hard. You know he’s been through worse. That most people here have. You have no right to cry.
Wade yells at a surprised Charles Xavier until an appointment is set up, which goes pretty well. Four days after that incident, you meet with the psychiatrist who agrees that upping your dosage is the smartest decision, frankly, she’s surprised it wasn’t done sooner. And, after about a week of your new dosage level, you’re feeling better than ever.
Way better.
“You… You’d really wanna do that? For everyone to know I’m yours?”
Ellie nods, cheeks darkened. You’re straddling her, and the two of you have been trading heated kisses with Yukio. Who would’ve thought more of the medication you were sure killed your libido before you could even develop one would be what rescued it?
“Of course we would. I know you don’t like to stereotype, but some of the stereotypes have truth to them. We’re… Territorial,” Yukio reminds you.
“I’m… A beta,” you remind her in a teasing echo of her tone.
“Our beta,” Ellie cuts back in. “Absolutely perfect.”
“Even if I’d rather not let you guys, y’know…” Your hand rubs at the space between your neck and your shoulder - where they’d likely mark you with their teeth - nervously. “...today? Or go farther than what we’re doing right now?”
“Of course, baby! The fact that you’ve even done this much…” Yukio trails off, looking over you. Your lips are swollen and still slightly parted as you continue to pant a little. The top few buttons of your (well, borrowed from Ellie) flannel are undone.
“We’re so grateful, and so proud of you,” Ellie continues, drawing your attention back to her. “We’re willing to wait as long as you need, even if that waiting only ends because you’ve decided that being with us like that isn’t something you want.”
“I do. I always have, I just… I don’t know.”
“The feeling’s still there, in your stomach, right?” Yukio wonders.
“Yeah, a little. It’s like… I know it’s not wrong, but something doesn’t feel quite right. Maybe I should just try to ignore it, I mean, you two have needs-”
“Hey. You know better than that, Y/N. We don’t, okay, babe? Not like that. We wanna have sex with you, not- Not hurt you. You understand that, right?” Ellie reassures you.
“I do, I just feel bad for being such a- I don’t know, a tease?”
“We love you. As in, you. If you forced yourself to do something you didn’t want to, just for us, how would we forgive ourselves?” Yukio says what she’s said a million times, but every time it surprises you. You tend to see yourself as only being valuable in what you can offer others— protection, a laugh, some good advice every now and then —you never expect anyone to care for you outside of that. But here they are. Absolutely perfect.
And you were thinking of flinging yourself off a tower a couple weeks ago. Should you tell them? They just think you went for an overdue checkup, which is technically the case. You don’t know what’s worse, hiding it or telling them. You’ll have to talk to Wade, he’s good at giving advice. Might not be good advice, but he’s definitely good at giving it.
“Everything okay, sharpshooter?” Ellie hands gently squeeze your hips to get your attention.
You blink back out of your thoughts, smiling a little and blushing at the nickname.
“Yeah, yeah, of course. Sorry, I just zoned out. I’ve had a lot on my mind lately.”
“Everything okay?” your alphas ask, again, in unison. Your alphas. They probably couldn’t handle it if you had a problem they couldn’t solve, the guilt of not being able to provide for you would overwhelm them.
“Yeah, totally,” you reply, because it is, now, especially here with them. Ellie starts to button up your flannel.
“Oh, we don’t have to-”
Ellie gives you a pointed look, then looks down at her crotch, then back up at you. Your blush deepens.
“Yeah, I’m guessing a cold shower’s in order,” Yukio agrees. “El, you can go first.”
“We can’t go together?” Ellie asks.
“Well, I don’t wanna leave Y/N alone. Our brave little beta did a lot more than usual. Don’t want you to feel used, baby,” Yukio explains to you both.
“Oh, duh,” Ellie agrees. You give her a quick smooch on the forehead before dismounting her and allowing yourself to be pulled into Yukio’s arms. Ellie grabs some clean clothes and heads off. As soon as the door shuts, Yukio giggles, and you look to her with a curious, confused expression.
“Now you’re all mine to cuddle.” Yukio gloats, kissing the top of your head. “Mm… You smell really good, babe. New shampoo?”
“Ish, yeah,” you agree, despite the fact that you started using it nearly a month ago at this point. Maybe the body heat you built up from the makeout session made it smell stronger, though.
Yukio keeps sniffing you, but you don’t call her out on it. She’s a little bit quirky, sure, but there’s no need to make her feel self-conscious about it when the tickling sensation feels kinda nice. She tosses in a few soft presses of her lips against your skin, too, so it’s not like she’s the only one who benefits.
Yukio eventually stops this, though, instead requesting to scent you. You’ve told the girls before that they don’t have to ask, but they— especially Yukio —seem to prefer to. You figure it’s likely to reassure them that you not only tolerate but appreciate their alphahood.
“I love you, you know that? Not just ‘cause you make me smell like petrichor. I’m surprised Ellie doesn’t spend all day huffing your scent, I… I know I would, if I could smell it.” You didn’t mean for the sad envy to ring so clearly in your words, but it’s as sharp as a knife, cutting deep enough to make Yukio gasp softly with sympathy as she rubs your wrist against her scent gland, eyes snapping open.
“Well, next time it’s about to rain, we’ll go outside, then. Every time it’s about to rain,” Yukio insists. “Who- Who told you?”
“Wade. I was just curious. He said Ellie smells like a campfire, the scent even clings like it. He even said I smell a little weird. Most betas smell like something, but I’m just… A blank canvas.”
You feel her rumble a bit with a growl, and her arms wrap tightly around you… Protectively? You blush.
“Y-Yukio?” you nervously ask, caught off guard. Ellie’s usually more of the growling type. Yukio’s pretty good about keeping her possessiveness and any other “negative” alpha traits in check. This side of her doesn’t come out often.
“What was he doing that close to you?” she snarls protectively, and if the growl wasn’t enough to get your heart racing, that was. “Sm- Smelling you?”
“Yukes, Wade’s the same age as my parents. Honestly, he’s- He’s kinda- He’s nice to me. We’re friends. I think if he was going to hurt me, he would’ve done it by now. You two keep forgetting I’m just a beta. No one wants a piece of this pie except for you and Ellie.”
“You’d be surprised at the way some alphas… It’s sick, but they- Because betas, you know, they don’t really produce slick like omegas do, and they don’t have quite as much give, uh… So, some alphas, um, they… Just let me hold you, okay?” Yukio requests. “I can’t talk about it, it’ll make me too mad.”
“I respect that. Thank you. I, uh, I didn’t realize that at all, so thank you for helping me be even safer,” you reassure her. She’s trembling. “Do you want me to hold you, instead?”
“No, no, this will make me feel better. I just… I love you. Can you just…? Just- Just say you’re mine.” This is a request Yukio has semi-often. When she feels weak in comparison to other alphas, when she feels overshadowed by Ellie, any time she needs reassurance or is just feeling bad, she’ll probably ask. You get it, being hers (and Ellie’s, of course) makes you feel better, too.
“I’m yours, Yukio. Always yours. You make me so happy, both of you. Happier than- You make me feel so-“ You get a bit choked up. These girls, these alphas… They’re so important to you.
“Oh, no, baby, please don’t cry,” Yukio implores, watching your eyes water. You turn so that your face doesn’t just rest on her chest but is buried in it.
“It’s just that no one ever loved me before you two. No one, ever. Not my parents, not my ’friends,’ no one. I don’t know why I’ve been so emotional lately, I’m sorry.”
“No one at all?” Yukio questions, but that’s the missing puzzle piece, she realizes. You’re always treating hers and Ellie’s love for you like it’s something you have to earn, no matter how much they insist being yourself is enough. She fully grasps now that it’s never been enough before.
She holds you even tighter.
“Mm-mm,” you confirm, shaking your head a little. “You and Ellie just mean the whole world to me. And- And… Wade’s my friend, too. Can I still, y’know, spend time with him?”
“Yeah, yeah, of course. I just- He’s a nice guy, but… I don’t want him to put you in danger. You can handle yourself, though. Can’t you, sharpshooter?” Her fingers trickle up your ribs as she says the nickname, making you giggle and squirm.
“Absolutely, but it is nice to have two strong, sexy alphas take care of me instead every now and then,” you admit, albeit a bit teasingly, blushing softly. You turn back so that you can see her adorable face.
“Really?” Yukio asks, but she knows.
“Really,” you agree with a smile.
“I’m yours, too. You know that, right?” Yukio checks, fiddling with your hair a bit.
“Mhm. It’s nice to hear you say it like that, though.”
“I can think of other ways you might like to hear it,” Yukio flirts.
“Yeah, you think so? Show me,” you tease back.
“I will…” Yukio trails off as she trails her finger along your jaw, tipping your head up to the perfect kissing angle and- “Eventually, little beta.”
“I- I’m taller than you,” you weakly protest.
“Your breath still hitched,” Yukio reminds you with a giggle and a gentle tap on the tip of your nose.
You stutter a little more before giving up, burying your face again and whining.
“I’m sorry, Y/N, I just can’t help myself. You’re too cute,” Yukio half-heartedly apologizes, still chuckling to herself as she strokes your back.
Ellie returns from her shower, inky tendrils of hair ruffled around but with no product in.
“She’s asleep?” Ellie asks, sounding a bit disappointed, but there’s still a significant amount of fondness in her tone.
“She’s not,” you mumble back, and both girls chuckle, Yukio untangling herself from you. You can’t help but pout a little, already missing the bubblegum-haired alpha.
“I know Yukio’s your favorite, but you could at least act a little bit happy to see me,” Ellie half-jokes, and you smile, pulling (though she doesn’t give any resistance) the girl back into your bed. She holds you the same way Yukio did, but you don’t really mind the lack of variety.
“You’re both my favorite,” you argue. Ellie takes a deep breath, likely taking in the way you’re completely embraced by Yukio’s scent.
“I don’t think that’s how favorites work,” she chuckles.
“Out of all the people in the world, you two are both my favorite,” you insist. She takes the hand you have resting on her ribcage and holds it inches from her scent gland. “Please,” you say, before she can even ask. Ellie takes a whiff again.
“Did she leave anywhere untouched?” She wonders.
“N-not really,” you stutter, because now you’re thinking of where she didn’t touch you.
“Well, she’ll have to share a little, then,” Ellie says.
You hum with delight as she scents you.
“You make a new friend?” Ellie questions.
“Huh?”
“You smell… Different,” she responds, looking at you… Well, differently. “Like roses.”
“I have a new-ish shampoo?” You offer, but that just seems to intensify the look.
Your phone rings. It’s Wade. You wriggle out of Ellie’s loose hold on you, answering.
“Hey, you know how I’m your academic advisor?”
“Uh, yeah?”
“Well, apparently, thwarting your suicide attempts isn’t my only job. I also have to tell you when they need you in the office, which is now.”
“Seriously?! I didn’t even throw that pencil at Richard, and even if I did, he deserved it for being such a-“
“Oh, right! Should’ve opened with the good news. Your parents are here to visit.”
“What?! That’s-“ You sigh, not wanting to alarm Ellie any more than you already have. “Okay. I’ll be there. Just give me a second to get dressed.”
“Wow, no shame at all. I salute you. Toodles!” Wade hangs up before you realize he misunderstood you.
“What’s wrong?” Ellie asks.
“Nothing, just… My parents are here.”
“Your… Parents?”
“Kind of have to have those to exist, usually,” you remark, and she snorts.
“I know- I- Well, we’ve known each other for a while, and you don’t really talk about them, so I sort of assumed…” Ellie trails off.
“Oh, um, yeah, no, they’re very alive,” you confirm with an awkward chuckle.
“Right. I’ll go get ‘Kio, and we’ll all go, okay?”
“Uh- Um- Yeah.”
“What is it?”
“My parents, they kind of… They- I love you. And I’m not ashamed of you.”
“But they’ll be ashamed of you,” Ellie understands.
“I haven’t seen them in so long, they don’t even know that I like girls, let alone that I’m dating two, or that they’re both alphas… I want you and Yukio to come with me, but, if they start to- If they’re how they are, I-“
“Give my energy to helping you instead of hurting them,” Ellie uses Piotr’s words.
“Perfect,” you agree, and Ellie smiles back, but it falters. You didn’t mean to worry her so much.
“I’ll go get Yukio. You get changed, okay?”
“Mhm,” you agree, and she heads off to the bathroom. You steal one of Ellie’s band tees and an oversized cardigan of Yukio’s for comfort, finding a pair of high-waisted bottoms to tuck the tee shirt in. You throw on a pair of sneakers, and when the girls emerge from the bathroom, you pop in to freshen up.
Once you’re done, Yukio’s caught up on the situation and the three of you make your way to the front offices.
Wade meets you outside.
“Oh em gee, Y/N, you’ll never believe it, I actually went to high school with both of your parents.”
“Uh… Cool?” You respond, because you’re not entirely sure how to.
“Yeah, uh, I get now that it’s probably not really good news that they’re here, huh? No wonder I found you doing that the other day.”
“Doing what?” Yukio and Ellie ask, though for some reason, Ellie’s is tinged with suspicion, maybe even anger.
“I- Listen, it’s not a big deal, I got my prescription updated and all that good stuff, okay?” You prime them. “I was thinking about killing myself the other day and Wade caught me.”
“Thinking?! You’re gonna call holding the fucking tip of an arrow to your wrist thinking?!”
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Ellie sounds as angry as Wade does, but she looks pained. This is why you didn’t tell them.
“Hey, she doesn’t need this right now,” Yukio argues, but she looks hurt, too.
“I mean, I was just considering if it would be more painful than jumping off of the turret,” you mumble, your defense embarrassingly weak.
“We’ll talk about this later,” Ellie decides, and Yukio nods. You three follow Wade to Xavier’s office. Wade breezes in, but you’re practically stuck in the doorway, nervous to look at even the backs of their heads, before they turn around.
“Y/N,” your mom says with a grin, but you know all too well how fake that is. She approaches you, pulls you into a hug, and you want nothing more than to push her away and scrub yourself clean. She doesn’t really love you. The second you speak out of turn, or make a mistake, or give her any excuse, she’ll remind you of your worth. (Or, rather, the lack thereof.)
She slips back into her seat next to your father, in front of the desk where Xavier sits, simply observing.
“It’s been so long,” your father says, but his smile is almost blatantly fake. “Your hair, it’s different.”
“Like you said, it’s been a while,” you say, giving a grimace and an awkward chuckle.
“I don’t think I like it,” he says, like he’s giving his opinion on a sculpture in an art exhibit by some long-dead artist who doesn’t care what he thinks. Like it’s something just… Objective.
“Not sure what to do about that,” you reply sheepishly.
You don’t fully realize that you’re holding Ellie’s hand until she squeezes it reassuringly, three times. A secret code. You step further in to make room for the girls.
“So, uh, I have to ask… Why the sudden visit?”
“Well, we got an e-mail about your medicine, and we wanted to come check on you. Make sure this is the right environment for you,” your mother explains.
“You weren’t sure before you stopped talking to me for two years?” You half-joke, playing dumb.
“Has it really been two years?” A normal person would be asking this rhetorically, and they’d be embarrassed. Your mother, though, is simply trying to gaslight you.
“Longer,” you assure her.
“I thought this place was supposed to provide conversion therapy,” your father says, eyeing your hand, then Ellie’s other hand. “You’re such a fucking liar,” he hisses to your mother.
“Wow, maybe my mom dying when I was young was for the best. Better than this for sure,” Wade jokes, gently elbowing your side. You chuckle, grateful for even the slightest ounce of comic relief.
“You’re even more of a freak than you were in high school.” You squeeze Ellie’s hand tight as your father’s expression darkens even further.
“Funny you should say that, considering-“
“Wade,” your mother cuts him off.
That’s weird, to say the least. You just file that away for later. You have bigger fish to fry, like surviving this visit.
“Y/N, why’d you go for a check-up at all? You barely needed the anti-depressants in the first place,” your mother wonders.
“Because it wasn’t barely. Why else would they raise the dosage?” You ask, and the expression on her face is as stupid as the question she asked.
“Don’t speak to her that way,” your father scolds, like he didn’t just call your mother a fucking liar himself. “You are so ungrateful for everything we’ve done for you, do you realize that?”
“I’m sorry, what have you done for her, exactly? Answer quickly, please,” Ellie retorts.
“El-“ you start, but realize this isn’t anger, but advocacy.
“Well, we sheltered and fed her for over a decade,” your father remarks, smirking like he’s won.
“That’s your job!” Wade argues.
“Mr. and Mrs. L/N… I politely asked that you refrain from visiting the campus, and while I appreciate your concern for Y/N’s well-being, I must ask that you remain respectful of her, her fellow students, and my staff. Causing unnecessary conflict is exactly the reason you were almost banned when you last visited,” Professor Xavier finally speaks.
“Almost banned?!” Wade wheezes.
“Yeah,” you sigh, and Wade’s laughter immediately ceases. “I was cheating in school, according to- To Dad.” The word is poison in your mouth.
“Come on, we all know you’re not smart enough to get those grades on your own. Probably screwing some teacher, just like Mom.”
“That’s enough,” Ellie snarls, eyes glowing orange.
“I never screwed a teacher!” Your mother protests at the same time.
“Oh, that’s right, you just blew Mr. Morin. My bad. Wow, Y/N, you really must be something special for all these alphas to be fawning over you. Maybe I did fuck up once or twice, after all, I’ve heard daddy issues-“
“Well, you visited! Now get the fuck out,” Wade chirps.
“Mr. L/N, must I repeat myself? I know you and Mrs. L/N were interested in a tour. Perhaps a less crowded area would help ease your minds,” Xavier reminds you all of his presence once more.
“That sounds like a great idea,” your father agrees.
“I’m starting to get a bit of a headache, maybe you could show us your room first and I could lie down for a bit in there?”
“I-“ You look to the girls, not wanting them to have to deal with her alone.
“Actually, Miss Phimister and Miss Kitsuna would be perfect additions to a rescue team. The orphanage your friend Russell came from was actually part of a network for mutant trafficking, and we found another hub in Maine. The jet takes off in fifteen minutes, and you two will be back in time for dinner. Better get ready and briefed.”
“But-“ Yukio starts, looking to you.
“Go, be superheroes,” you tell them, and they head out. “Uh, how about we swing by the library first, to give them time to change, and then to our room?”
“You share a room with them? Somehow, I’m not surprised.”
“We were roommates before we started dating,” you correct him.
“Dating… Aw, I bet you really think that’s what it is, too. Having parents in a sham of a marriage really did a number on you, huh?” Your father condescends.
“You know, it’s pretty fucked up how fixated you are on her sexuality. Do you like to picture it, you goddamn creep?” Wade defends you, and your skin crawls. You’d never thought of it that way before.
“Let’s just get that tour started, ‘kay?” You squeak. The sooner you get this over with, the sooner they’ll be on their way, hopefully.
“Good idea, Y/N,” Wade says. “Come on, Textbook, let’s go.”
“You didn’t just call me-“
“Oh, but I did, Textbook. Hey, Y/N, did you know that was your dad’s nickname in highschool? ‘Cause he was so fuckin’ easy to shove in a locker.”
You cover your mouth with your hand, trying not to laugh and failing.
“Just show us the library already, Y/N,” your mother says, pinching the bridge of her nose.
You take your parents to the library, as requested. Wade keeps pace with you while your parents fall back. You can’t hear their exact words, but you know your parents are bickering.
“You never said it was this bad.”
“It’s not that bad. It’s definitely been worse,” you admit, busying your eyes with the paintings that line the walls so that you don’t have to meet Wade’s gaze. You might just cry if you do; you can feel the sympathy radiating off of him.
In these past few months, Wade’s been more of a father than your dad, even more of a mother than your mom, but for some reason that doesn’t make you feel more justified in how you feel about your parents. In fact, it just makes you feel worse, and even if you’ve never actually expressed it, you’re still ashamed of the fact that you wish Wade was your father instead. He actually cares, while your parents are simply legally obligated.
From the day you met, Wade’s always been there for you. If you were to tell your parents what you almost did the other day, they’d just call you attention-seeking and insult you in other ways. All they’d do is make you want to try again.
You and Wade stop at the entrance to the library and wait for your parents to catch up. They do, and you open the double doors to reveal the room.
“It’s like Beauty and the Beast,” your mother gapes.
“I thought so, too,” you agree, attempting a smile, but your parents just ignore you, wandering around the large room. Your mother excuses herself after a few minutes of spinning, saying that the dizziness is making her headache worse.
“All these books and you’re still… The way you are,” your father comments, looking at you with such disdain.
“Winner of the science fair with her loving partners, three years in a row?” Wade questions. “Oh, or maybe you’re talking about the fact that she’s a published poet. How embarrassing for you, I’m sure.”
“Wade,” you protest under your breath, embarrassed. They don’t even know that stuff. After middle school, you stopped telling them about your accomplishments. You figured out that all they’d do is ruin them for you.
“No, no, trust me. It’s more about the fact that she’s slutting around with alphas and won’t even save us the embarrassment of them being girls,” you father spats.
“That’s enough,” Wade snarls.
“Oh, that’s right, we can’t forget that she’s yours, too. I guess anything with a dick is daddy considering I was too busy putting food on the table to play dollies,” he remarks, and you suddenly feel light-headed.
“Seriously, Textbook, I really don’t want to hurt you, especially not in front of Y/N, but I fucking will if you make me.”
“Just go,” you urge Wade, starting to feel a bit dizzy, surely from the stress. You brace yourself on him, disguising it as a touch meant to comfort him. He looks concerned as the edges of your vision start to darken a little.“I- What you’re doing, I appreciate it, but-“
“You appreciate it? You appreciate him disrespecting me, disrespecting our family?!”
“Our family?!” You finally snap. “All I ever wanted was for you to love me, and you couldn’t do that. You just couldn’t. And now we’re a family?! No. No, you…” You start to pant, your face feeling even hotter than before. “You… I hate you,” you manage to get out before your world goes completely dark.
“Fuck yeah, Y/N! I’m so prou-“
But when Wade turns to you, you’re halfway to the ground. He catches you, though, and he catches a whiff of something… Familiar.
Lavender. It’s not just the Wilson scent, sure, but it’d be too much of a coincidence. You smell just like him. You are him, or, rather, made of him.
He’s torn between ecstatic and furious.
“Hey, can we get some help over here?” your father calls out to no one. It’s not a school day, and lots of students are out on missions. He reaches out to you for once in your life, but Wade’s now sitting on the floor, cradling you in his arms.
“No,” Wade argues. “Not yours. Mine.”
“What?” You father asks incredulously. “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
“She’s. Not. Yours,” Wade repeats, and the more he inhales your scent, the more out of control yet calm he feels. Like he’s in the eye of a hurricane. “My baby. Mine.”
“You’re not saying…” your father trails off as Wade gets up, still cradling you. Wade has to take you to your room; help make you a nest, now. He can smell it on you.
You’re in heat.
He gets to your room quickly, practically tossing you onto your bed. Wait… Isn’t your mom supposed to be here?
And that’s when he hears the sound of pills spilling onto the floor.
He nearly rips the bathroom door off of its hinges. Luckily, your mother spilled what Wade quickly realizes is suppressants, and not your prescription.
“You. You could’ve killed her. You are very, very lucky that my baby-“
“Our baby,” your mother corrects.
“No, you take pills, you can’t even smell her, let alone feel her like I can. It- It’s so much it fucking hurts. I’ll say it again, you’re very lucky my baby is in heat, or your arteries would be emptying in that shower. Now, go. Don’t come back.”
You groan in pain, stirring, and your mother takes Wade’s advice. Wade calls Yukio. Then Ellie. Then Yukio. Then Ellie.
“What the fuck, dude?!”
“You need to turn around. Now. I don’t have the time to explain. It’s Y/N.”
“Is she okay?” Ellie, always skeptical, asks.
“Obviously fucking not, or I wouldn’t be calling. She’s in heat.”
“But-“
“I said that I don’t have time to explain, fucking turn around! I’m on the verge of going fucking feral, Ellie. You both need to get here, now.”
“Wade, get out,” Ellie immediately demands.
“I can’t,” he admits.
“Get out! Shit, Wolverine! We need to turn around!”
“I can’t. It’s not like that I swear, it’s… I’m going fucking crazy, just one of you will do, but someone needs to get here.”
“Wade, go.”
“I would never hurt her! Come home!” Wade barks before hanging up. He returns to your room to find you’ve made a nest instinctively - thank goodness for Yukio’s affinity for pillows and blankets - and now you’re curled up in pain in the center of it.
“Wade,” you whimper. He’s scared to step closer, not sure if he’s what you want, even if you despise who you thought was your father. “What’s happening to me? Everything hurts.”
“I really don’t know how to say this, but… You’re in heat.”
“But I’m a beta,” you argue, wrapping your arms around yourself.
“That’s what we all thought. But… Remember how you didn’t smell like anything before? Uh, let me start over. When did you start on your anti-depressants?”
“I was about twelve,” you confirm, not sure what that means.
“Yeah, I think those were suppressants. That it’s always been suppressants, no matter what the bottles said. Until you got a prescription without your mother knowing. Do you understand why your mother would do that?”
You shake your head, and he approaches the bed, sitting down carefully as not to disturb your work.
“Her boyfriend around the time she got pregnant with you was a beta. We know him as Textbook,” Wade teases, before continuing: “But, what no one realizes is that he was at Niagara Falls on spring break around the time when you were conceived, and she was hanging out with her next-door neighbor the whole time. Her next-door neighbor was me.”
“Oh, so I’m your highschool mistake,” you say, connecting the dots.
“Huh?”
“Ha, well, whenever my parents- Well, I guess not my parents, but that’s beside the point, uh, whenever they argue and it gets really bad, my father- Well, not my father, but, uh-“
“Continue,” Wade urges.
“Basically, sometimes he uses ‘a mistake I made in highschool’ as code for ‘Y/N,’” you explain. “But the truth is, I’m the mistake you made in highschool.”
“You’re not a mistake,” he disagrees. “You’re- You’re one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. Lots of things are made by accident, but that doesn’t make them mistakes! Penicillin, potato chips, Post-It notes, popsicles! They were never supposed to exist but they do and the world is much better off with them in it.”
“You really do have a lot of useless knowledge,” you realize.
“So do you, that’s why our team always wins trivia night.” Wade slips off his boots, joining you in your rearranged bed. “C’mere,” he suggests, guiding your head to his neck.
“S’really you,” you mumble, already weary, and Wade worries for what’s to come. He almost doesn’t even want to let the girls in. He could get you pain medicine, he could probably even find sedatives. Then no one would ever be able to even touch you, let alone hurt you. “Lavender. You never mentioned the lavender, just the sandalwood.”
“I didn't think you’d be impressed,” Wade admits.
“It’s relaxing,” you tell him. “It’s nice to have things in common with someone.”
“You smell like roses, too, not just lavender,” he makes sure you know.
“Yeah, but I think that’s mostly concentrated in an area I’d rather not discuss with you.”
“Well, just make sure that if you do decide to do anything more with them than cuddle, which I can gladly go through the rest of my life without knowing, bee-tee-dubs, that the girls are wearing alpha condoms, especially if one of them knots you. Standard condoms work in a pinch if it’s just for one, y’know, go, but for heats they’re basically useless because of everything I just said. If they hurt you, I will make their deaths look like accidents.”
“S’not like I can get pregnant anyway…” You mumble, embarrassed. “I’m- I’m really glad it’s you. I- I wished so many times that it was you instead of him. Ow, ugh, that one was bad,” you groan, massaging your stomach.
Meanwhile, on the jet, Ellie is furious with herself.
“Yukio, you don’t get it, I smelled her. She smelled like an omega, but I thought- I assumed she was cheating on us. That maybe she didn’t want to be with us like that was because she wanted to- I don’t know, to be on top? It seems so stupid now.”
“Hey, I noticed she smelled different, too. There were other signs we both missed, anyways. Think about how emotional she’s been lately, or how much farther we’ve been going in other ways. How clingy she’s been, too.”
“I guess I didn’t really notice it because I liked her being more open and needing us more,” Ellie admits. “She- She almost fucking killed herself. And I thought cheating was what she was hiding. I- I just-“
“You can’t beat yourself up over it,” Yukio insists. “We’re on our way back, and Wade’s there to protect her.”
Speaking of Wade being there to protect you, he continues to comfort you as the pain gets worse.
“S’too hot,” you complain, and he releases you from his hold, rising from the bed. He knows he’ll have to leave you soon, because you’re likely going to need privacy before the girls get home, but it’s hard to part from you knowing you’re in pain.
“I’m gonna get you some water, okay? And after that, I’m just gonna stand guard outside the door until your girls get here. I know there’s some stuff you need to do, and that’s only gonna get worse.”
“It’s already awful,” you admit, and he chuckles.
“Good luck, kid. I love you.”
Wade gets a case of bottled water from the school’s industrial-sized pantry, bringing it to your room and tearing it open for you before leaving once more. You take one, immediately guzzling it down.
In privacy, you take off Yukio’s cardigan and your bottoms, leaving you in Ellie’s tee shirt and your underwear. You decide to go ahead and free yourself from the constriction that is your bra, feeling a bit embarrassed that you’re not leaving much to the girls’ imagination for your first time together. You eventually decide to undress completely, wondering when the hell your girls are gonna get here.

❤ He is your personal caterer. All these events that you plan for awareness on specific topics, a lot of people go, and that is a lot of mouths to feed. He will cook for you food to feed millions. Even in protests outside, you both arrive with a trunk filled with food and water. You find yourself being grateful for his talent. It feels as if your arrangements would be nothing without his food to keep everyone healthy. Everyone gets fuel from his food - it's amazing. He really is the best at what he does.
❤ Being trans is no issue. He is into both men and women so he did not have any sexuality questioning. He never teases you about your gender or make any comments relating to the fact that you're trans at all. His flirtiness certainly doesn't stop, but it's not as pointed as you thought it would be. He continues teasing you like he always did - and that's relieving.
You tap your foot impatiently, your hands gripping onto the end of your shirt. You try to take deep breaths. You try and relax - but it's hard. He's stressing you out.
There is just so much food and he is taking his time loading it into the car. What if you're late? You're terribly worried about disappointing people.
This is extremely palpable, as he sighs and glances your way. "Don't worry honeybee, just a few seconds more."
And he was telling the truth. After a few seconds he hopes into the car next to you and pats your thigh. He lingers there for a moment before pulling away. "What did I say?"
"Thank you." Is all you can find yourself saying with a relieved smile on your face.
❤ He loves buying you clothes - for almost every celebration and holiday you are gifted a new shirt or a sweater or cool, comfortable pants. Seeing you wear the things he gets you makes him feel so loved.
❤ He probably uses your deodorant and shampoo ngl.
❤ It is terribly cold where you live, and he uses this to his advantage. He always wants to touch you. Whether it's cuddling or slipping his hand under your clothes (often both). On hot days, he turns the AC on so that you cuddle with him for warmth at night.
❤ Sometimes he sings to you. It's mostly a joke - and it's popular radio love songs, but it is a bit charming.
❤ He is prideful that you are his boyfriend. You're literally so loved, so admired in the public eye, and he gets to help you on your adventures.
❤ His mother loves you. She treasures your need for social justice - it makes you the perfect option for a boyfriend.
❤ Which - you are so grateful to have her approval. Teruteru loves her so so much and you don't know what you would do if she didn't like you.
❤ (On your birthday she gives you way more presents than Teruteru does LOL!).
