hello !!! i was just wondering if you think there are any other bands peter would like besides nirvana, pink floyd, and rush ?? he gives me classic rock (& just rock in general) vibes tbh !!

i once did extensive research into this. way more than anyone should for a character way past his relevance. and i'm still discovering new tunes i think he'd be into all the time !! i'll try not make this long winded (it will be). but for now...

rush is a major one. because unlike the other two, apocalypse era peter has rush all around him !! the rush posters in his basement. the leg cast with "i luv rush." it's safe to say he's kind of a rush fanboy (and he's so real for that because rush is rad as hell).

i have a list of bands/artists i can confirm he canonically likes, as they've been referenced before. whether it be through background clues (posters, background music, etc), or because they were explicitly mentioned by people involved in making the films.

peter definitely enjoys rock overall. but he doesn't seem averse to mainstream pop either. so we can probably assume he'll listen to anything, as long as it's catchy !!

Now's the time make an essay-ishly long post about the whole business with Stuart Townsend and his brief time as Aragorn.

There's probably really no great mystery here, just a casting gone wrong. But I'm still intrigued by how this happened and how it affected the rest of the cast both by the loss of Stuart and the addition of Viggo. And how this became just another in the long line of the lore of the rings.

In the summer of 1999, Viggo Mortensen and his son Henry set out on a 15,000-mile road trip to visit family and friends across the United States. At the same time, Irish actor Stuart Townsend was just auditioning for the role of Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings. But, after the film went into production and filming began in New Zealand, Peter Jackson discovered that the 26-year-old actor was not working. “Every time I told Peter about it, he said, ‘Well, make him a little older,’” says Lord of the Rings makeup artist José Perez. Each time he added more and more gray hair. into Townsend's beard, but to no avail. “We tried to create a resemblance artificially. But both of us, Stuart and I, knew very well that someone older was needed for this role . On the morning of the third day after filming began, it was announced that Townsend had to leave the set. “Some of us were very upset ,” recalls Elijah Wood. “ Just imagine that you spent two months with someone and thought that you would be together for at least another year and a half. We managed to become fast friends. Right or wrong, for In any case, this decision was traumatic for us . "

Orlando had time to become quite close with Stuart. It makes me wonder how he felt when Stuart was suddenly cast out. It was Orlando's first big project, so I imagine it might have made him nervous about being chucked out himself.

Also makes me wonder how he felt when Viggo arrived instead. Someone so different, older, seasoned. And maybe not immediately a good friend. Of course, that changed quite drastically! I just don't know how long it took before Viggo became the light of his life.

Viggo says he only met Stuart the once:

I wrote to him when I arrived in New Zealand to start work on the trilogy, but I never met him. I did finally come across him one night in Los Angeles in late 2001. Driving on Santa Monica Boulevard - with Orlando Bloom as my passenger, as fate would have it - I pulled up to a red light. It turned out Stuart was stopped next to us. Orlando, who knows Stuart fairly well, spotted him. We rolled down our windows and greeted each other. He seems a very good person and is obviously a serious artist.

First, I just love the image of Viggo and Orlando driving around in LA, just hanging out. Secondly, Viggo is being terribly diplomatic here; I imagine he never got any answer to that letter for one. And you know he would never have spoken a word to Stuart had not Orlando, exhuberant, friendly and full of joy, greeted him. I so wonder what went through Stuart's mind at that time. Seeing he wasn't happy about what happened. And here was Orlando, his former co-star, having the time of his life with his replacement. It must have been an awkward moment for everyone - except perhaps Orlando (who was enjoying his ride too much to notice). :)

Viggo:

Over the last few years, Stuart has met up with Elijah, Billy, everyone really. It was something that we all felt incredibly bad about, and it was something I certainly had to struggle with before accepting the role. It was just one of those things, where Peter felt he'd made the wrong choice – he became convinced Stuart was too young for the role – and he had to make a tough decision. It's the nature of the business, you know, and I would hope Stuart doesn't feel it was anything personal. I have nothing but admiration for him.

And it's quite obvious Stuart was NOT happy about how it went down. Even in 2005, he sounded rather bitter, tbh.

Two weeks ago I finally read an article where the filmmakers said, ''We were totally wrong about Stuart and we accept that it was our fault,'' which was so nice because I did get shafted up the a--. I was there rehearsing and training for two months, then was fired the day before filming began. I have no good feelings for those people in charge, I really don't. [Peter Jackson] wanted me and then apparently thought better of it because he really wanted someone 20 years older than me and completely different. There's always some good to be found in a bad experience. The guys who played the Hobbits are great people, and Orlando Bloom became a good friend.

And lastly, some only marginally interesting bits from Sean Astin's book:

And when [Stuart] was gone, he was simply gone. Vanished. There were no long good-byes. By the time we found out, he’d already left the country. I left a message for Stuart on his cell phone, but never heard back. Everyone was really worried about him for a while. There are certain elements of his persona that would have been interesting in Aragorn. There is a brooding romanticism to Stuart, a genuine pathos you see in his eyes; your heart wrenches when you see him on screen. Viggo is a much more austere actor, and that is reflected in the way he portrays Aragorn. His strength and beauty and sex appeal derive from some other place, so it’s pretty hard to compare the two of them.

I think almost everyone thinks it was one of the very best decisions of the production to bring in Viggo. I'm quite sure the films would not have been the same without him as Aragorn.

First Impression

-Definitely falling under the average green ranger stereotype of being the silly but less engaged member of the team, though that is quite alright cause he'll probably give some positivity to the team due to the state they are in via the season

How I Feel About The Character/Impression Now

-.....I love this twink and honestly me and everyone else should love him, the fact that he was in a mafia, managed to escape, gave medicine and supplies from said group to orphans in needed AND GOT OFF SCOT FREE WITH HIS TOASTER BOYFRIEND speaks volumes.

Favorite Moment

-So far has to be that scene between him and the cartel where he's got that serious face, I'll have to go back and fully complete RPM but seeing Ziggy look so cold is amazing.

Idea For A Story

-okay think of this....Ziggy as a Peter Pan type character who was reborn in another world that raises orphans or children who've passed early and they live in this alternate world with magic, at the same time he's an assassin that's teaming up with Dillon and Tenaya(who also have powers based on fairy tales) to steal ancient treasure from a tyrant king in order to rule the rule, Once Upon A Time walked so this can run.

Heck not even a crossover needed because JKP exists in the RPMverse and assuming the entire team is alive then this could fly, crazy twinks and the emo duo.

-Ziggy/Dr.K, honestly feel like he understands Dr.K and they are really close when it comes to hearing each other out, plus Ziggy might actually get her to enjoy some hobbies.

Unpopular Opinion

-Kinda wish we got even more of a backstory for him or seen Ziggy encountering other green rangers. I feel like both him and Trip would get along quite well to be honest.

One thing I wish would/had happened in the show

-....We serious? That Jungle Fury/RPM crossover obviously because ALL THOSE INTERACTIONS AND SUCH WOULD'VE BE LEGENDARY.

-Even if he didn't end up with Dillon we should've had Ziggy kissing some guy.

-Imagine a scene of Ziggy hacking Venjix down with his axe after he found out the program's intention for Dillon, or if Venjix succeeded and Dillon died...it would've been brutal like Ziggy would be shown Venjix why the cartel kept him around🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡

Headcanons

-The RPM team technically has sentient zords because in reality they hold secret Engine Souls like their Go-Onger counterparts. This is actually a result of humanity evolving and without the vitality from Earth's nature so their animal spirits evolved into Engine Souls, thing is the team hasn't unlocked them but when they do the zords will be able to talk(a little fib of my JFAU movie arc idea with RPM cause we deserve that crossover).

-Ziggy's fingernails can turn dark green because of Venjix exposure, some humans after being exposed to the virus during their apocalypse developed small traits via their survival(Scott having sharper canines, Summer being able to detect metals for tools, Flynn when growing out his hair has white highlights and can absorb radiation, Gem and Gemma can see people's dreams and Dillon can purify dirty food and water).

-Ziggy sleeps with a huge dolphin as a pillow or just something to hold whenever he's sad. If he can't morph then he'll fill it with rocks and beat down venjix monsters with it.

-Sometimes when he would leave the dome(before the world began to return to normal) he'd walk miles until making it to the ocean since it wasn't fully destroyed and enjoyed watching the waves. Plus that spot is the only one in the world where the stars in the sky are still viewable.

-After RPM Dillon, Tenaya and Ziggy ventured out into the world to see what needed to be fixed, they built a railroad and it oddly began to glow with energy. This led to the team getting powers via trains and soul power with imagination, humanity's will to keep going(ToQger adaption), villains born from the deceased malice of humanity aim to take advantage of this world and others leading to the team having bigger stakes than last time.

Sorry for the delay in answering! also omg i hadn't even started to think about halloween yet. here it's been the city's official 'festival' so that's partially what I've been busy with/recovering from lol.

- Which marauder is most likely to enjoy ghost stories?…and who’s really scared of them? So I think Sirius enjoys telling them the most-- mostly because it's funny to get a reaction out of Peter, who is ofc the most scared. Though I think Remus would be surprisingly good at telling them.

- Who’s the most likely to enjoy fancy dressing (that’s british for “costumes”, I believe)? Haha yep, fancy dress! I think it's James, who would go all out and make everyone go along with it. Sirius would definitely have the most low-effort costumes of all time.

- Party at the common room! What are they dressing up as? So as I said Sirius is very low effort, but you also have to consider that the lads are skilled in human transfiguration. I think Sirius would give himself a beard, go shirtless, and he'd go as Dumbledore on a beach holiday.

James would definitely have something complex and funny, verging on try-hard. Probably some weird thing like "Wimbourne Wasps beater if all the balls got magically stuck to his robes."

Peter and Remus would be fairly basic. They'd either go along with whatever group theme James proposed (I can see them all doing Hogwarts professors or specific portraits around the castle) or do something classic like magical creatures. I'd like to think Remus would ironically go as a werewolf but idk if he'd have the balls tbh.

- Who borrows/nicks their friends clothes the most? Peter, who has few scruples about these things. It would be more like he can't find clean socks so he dips into his friends' dressers.

- Who’s always letting friends borrow their stuff? James absolutely, he is very generous with his belongings- it helps he has the most belongings.

- Who’s the most likely to have befriended Nearly Headless Nick? (I know it in my heart it was Remus, champion of the lonely and misunderstood, but give me your take) I can see Remus, but the thing is I think it's James. Nick is very proud of Gryffindor's achievements and James is their Quidditch star and a popular student, I think Nick would gravitate (literally) towards him the way he does with Harry.

- Who’s the most superstitious? Peter, absolutely. He'd definitely be Ron-like in this regard.

- Who’s the most squirmish around blood? Who’s the least? Peter's the most, Remus the least. I feel like turning into a violent monster monthly probably puts everything else into perspective.

- Last but not least, what are each’s biggest fears? I'm going to focus on more psychological fears since probably everyone's main fear is dying/their loved ones dying in the war.

Remus is obvious, he clearly fears his own condition and specifically being discovered or hurting someone. Deeper than that, I think he fears rejection very strongly.

Peter also fears rejection, but moreso exclusion or abandonment.

James I think fears insignificance or irrelevance. He fears that he secretly isn't good enough.

Sirius is kind of a tricky one for me. Maybe he fears becoming like his parents. I also think out of all of them he fears betrayal the most.

Out of curiosity, how does Archie feel about superheroes? Partially as a vigilante (like, does he think their portrayal in media is realistic to the superpowered crimefighting experience) and partially as a fan (is the genre super cool)

Also, does he take inspiration from any of them? You've mentioned that he banters with his enemies while fighting and smiles at the people he saves, which is very reminiscent of Spider-Man to me (one of my very very favorites) so I'm wondering if he does that on purpose or if he's just a sweetheart who wants to dissolve the tension for the people in danger and it leads to him acting like that

HI YES OKAY. i was hoping someone would ask this because archie is based off of so many different superheroes... i am a dc nerd and also a mild marvel fan so. YIPPEE!!

so i want to start by saying that archie is like. well he's kind of meant to replace spiderman and/or daredevil in this universe. its hard to explain. like i'd like to think he lives in a universe where no other well-known comic book superheros actually exist and they are all fictional in his universe.

if that makes sense.

i feel like im getting really into the meta here but to put it simply, archie's story takes place in new york (which means archie has a new york accent btw). he's like an alternative universe spider-man/daredevil combo (if you look at his powers specifically) so those characters no longer exist but every other comic book character exists as fictional characters. especially dc because the cities in dc are mostly made up.

SO back to the question at hand.

i think archie sees their portrayal in comics as a bit dramatic. like batman is always brooding in his little cave and archie is like "yeah right." i feel like he's amused at when superheros get injured in comics because hes like "that guy would NOT be doing those flips after breaking three ribs and getting a severe concussion. i'd know."

BUT he does enjoy the comics anyways. he thinks they're very entertaining and hes just a Nerd so he looks past all the inaccuracies for a good story!

i feel like the character he identifies the most with is nightwing (my beloved) because hes a vigilante working on a small scale and he likes how silly he is. he looks to him for the most inspiration because he loves how down to earth he is with civilians. he also related to having his World Rocked at a very young age

and as for who my (author) inspirations for him were, it's a combonation of 3 main ones that i've already mentioned but i'm going to briefly explain why/how:

peter parker/spider man - this one is kind of obvious. archie is this sunny, quippy, young guy from new york who goes around at night beating up bad guys and buying hotdogs from the hotdog vendors.

matt murdock/daredevil - i took this man more for the concept of having an accident happen to you as a kid and gaining enhanced abilities from it. obviously archie is not blind, but he does have heightened senses and operates in kind of the same location and on the same small scale as daredevil!

dick grayson/nightwing - tbh i included him because i love him and i modeled archie's sass on him. he's different from peter parker becasue he's older and so is archie, but the similarities also come in their humor and quips! the vigil suit is also vaguely inspired by nightwing's suit

okay well, he and dick would get along super well. both are chatterboxes, both get serious when they need to be. both enjoy being acrobatic. peter would also laugh at just about every one of his little word game things he does. i think they'd also be able to bond over the loss of their parents and uncle. obviously I think that peter and dick would be bffs in any universe thanks to @fightwing like it'd actually be such an important relationship for peter.

wally - I think they'd get along due to both being science geeks (though peter is much better fight me on it) he'd think wally was pretty cool though, probably wonder how seriously he takes being kid flash too cause he'd see him as a bit of a goofball.

kaldur - he would actually really like kaldur, the way he's so dedicated and doesn't tolerate any bologna. it's a bit of a contrast to how peter takes being spider-man, he appears as a nonchalant person who is having fun. but underneath it all, it's a serious dedication and something peter considers to be the most important thing he does. pete would like him and wanna get to know him more.

m'gann - he'd think she's kind and caring, be a bit worried about having his mind read cause when he's younger he has more than a little guilt and pain he's carrying around. he'd probably spend more time learning about her bioship and trying to study it tbh fjaksldj

conner - if we're talking about superboy in the show, he'd probably not be the biggest fan of him. he'd slightly partial cause he has a soft spot for clones (obvs) but he'd also get tired of his temper real quick. also it's hard for me to say he'd be close to that interpretation of conner when @supermantm and I have pete and kon being besties jfaksdj.

° okay, right off the bat, this man is soooo protective of you. he's never gonna let anything hurt you (or at least he's gonna try to ensure that).

° heart eyes mother fucker! derek has this look in his eyes that he only reserves for you and everyone (cough cough! stiles!) always brings it up but Derek genuinely just denies it point blank every single freaking time. (his eyes have this soft warmth to them whenever they gaze at you. it's super sweet.)

° you're certainly one of the people that he's playful with and the pack really enjoy seeing this side of derek more often. you help him feel less alone and teach him how to love more deeply. you're also much healthier for him than his other past relationships - *i'm looking at you kate and jennifer!*

° he'd literally do anything for you oml. derek's always doing whatever he can to help you out, although sometimes he may be slightly awkward if you're vulnerable and there are a lot of feelings on the table. over time he really gets better at feeling comfortable with vulnerability when it comes to you and others. anger isn't his main emotion any more, because there isn't as much pressure riding on his shoulders from being an alpha.

° whenever there's trouble afoot, derek wants to get you on the next plane out of beacon hills. he's not hot on the idea of you fighting against anything - even if you're supernatural or can defend yourself -. however, if you're dead set on it, he can't force you onto the plane...

° this then leads to derek understanding that he can trust you to not only handle your own corner, but you've also got his back. it's both anxiety inducing and a relief.

° so expect an overprotective derek to tag along with you. He's shielding you every chance he gets, especially if it has anything to do with explosions, cars, etc. derek doesn't fuck around.

° honestly, you end up saving him more often than not bc he's reckless™. but who's keeping score right? haha everyone!

° you never seemed to ever give up on derek - even when he was a terrible alpha and did things he wasn't proud of due to his survivors guilt, being afraid and stressed out, etc. he doesn't excuse his behaviour, but he's glad you were one of the people that remained true to themselves and supported him; even if it was just from a distance.

I'll be frank, I didn't get to watch the last season. Which I'm planning to rectify. (When it was coming out my Grandma was still alive and it scared her so I didn't get to watch it... and then we got rid of cable..>.>; )

HOWEVER, I really really really love Once Upon a Time! My Favorite Villain is

When this arc was coming out I lived in the apartment and I talked about Peter Pan so much my roommate hung a Peter Pan picture on my door (right next to Jack Frost....>.>.... :) ). X3

I LOVE CaptainSwan! I think the only pairing with Emma I would have liked just as much was Pinocchio, if they'd left him as an adult. TT.TT

Jefferson was my favorite character right next to Hook but Jefferson would have definitely reigned at the top if he'd been in more. (I miss Jefferson so much.)

Neverland was my favorite arc too!!! I wish it had gone on just a little longer than it had, though I know I heard several people saying that they didn't enjoy Neverland. Which I never understood. Because it's amazing. I LOVE LOVE how sweet Snow and Prince Charming are. And just so many other elements of the show. Mr. Gold is a fun character too and I could just go on an on about how much I love Regina... don't get me started. LOL NOW THEN for Levi. I DID put him in Storybrook but I honestly don't ever replace existing characters I work around them and incorporate the characters I want to introduce into the story so they can all exist in the same space, and that's always been fun for me. Now when I did it I was rping with a friend and (to make a very long story much shorter) he is canon (sort of adjacent) Levi who winds up getting sucked into the curse by accident since he was in the area and other not complicated things but it'll take me a long time to describe. I can dm you about it if you want to hear me rant and rave. I applied his Ackerman blood to the situation so he was still himself and very confused as to why he was carrying an ID around that wasn't his name and "married" to a person he didn't know. Anywho if I were to do it again I'd have to say I might make him either own a cafe or possibly an accountant. What would you have him do? I have so much fun with these! I can honestly see it. If he owns a cafe it's not just a tea shop so it's not exactly what he wanted but also kind of is? He'd probably be fairly happy with that one actually, while if he were an accountant I could see him making decent money but I can't see him enjoying it at all.

Grading every Peter Lorre character from a movie I've seen on a scale of 1-10. Part 1

Note, these grades are mostly relative to eachother since I enjoy pretty much all Peter Lorre characters and if I was grading each character individually, it'd pretty much just be a bunch of 10s

•Hans Beckert-M(1931)

4/10. If this list was about which of Peter's films are objectively the best or most important to film history, this would probably be the best grade, but as far as which characters I personally enjoy the most, the best directing and acting in the world ain't gonna make me blorbofy someone who gets off to child murder. Least of all in such a grounded and harsh film

•Abbott-The Man Who Knew Too Much(1934)

Ok it never even occurred to me until just now, but these are interesting characters to have back to back. Not only does Abbott also attempt to murder a child like Beckert-although without any known prior success, but unlike Beckert who at least claims to be full of remorse and disgust over his actions, Abbott couldn't seem to care less about the sanctity of life and innocence. And yet, I'm much more eager to blorbofy Abbott. Why is that? I suppose there are a few main reasons Abbott is easier to like than Beckert.

The first being that Beckerts whole speech about how he's haunted by the ghosts of the mother's and the children and how he hates that evil inside him could be total B.S. We never see Beckert so clearly riddled with guilt or self loathing when he's alone. The only negative emotions Beckert displays over his actions when he's not around people who suspect him is a fear of getting caught and the letters he sends the police combined with the famous mirror scene are potential evidence that he enjoys his infamy. If he doesn't truly regret his actions and tbh even if he does, at least Abbott knows he's a murderous bastard and doesn't cry about how its not his fault when he gets caught

Secondly, while Beckerts whole goal is to kill for whatever sick gratification it gives him, for Abbott, a child-or anyone potentially dying is just part of his greater plan. Yes, he's still pretty flippant about murder and you can argue about if that makes him better or worse in a real world setting than someone who kills kids just to kill kids, but(seemingly) feels bad about it, but at least in the case of Abbott, where Betty would be alive and unharmed if everything had gone according to his plan and hes not specifically targetting children, I'm inclined to prefer a character for whom the potential death of a child is the means and not the end

OK with all that Abbott apoligism out of the way, let's get onto why I really like him

Edgy scar. White streak in his hair. Long trench coat. Stupid childish sense of humour combined with diabolical sophistication. He smokes two cigarettes at once. He'd kill me in a heart beat, but I would protect him at all costs

8/10. He brings me so much joy that I hate to make it so low, but again, I'm comparing these characters to eachother and don't want to grade them all tooo high

Breyer was actually once asked what gave him the idea of "calling up" Kramer to ZDF. He said that it was that interview when Kramer was at "Aktuelles Sportstudio" (when Neuer, Lahm and Müller "brought to light" all of concussed Kramer's alleged misbehaviour during the WC final). He said that he'd felt that Kramer was an entertaining and intelligent interview partner who'd suit the pundit format and they'd complement each other well, so he'd suggested it to his superiors after Kramer hadn't been called up by Löw. At that time (and in the interview) they were still "per Sie" (addressing each other with the formal "you", while now using "du"), so they clearly became friends while working together. (Also, that reminded me that Kramer is a really good sport about being made fun of, which Mertesacker, yesterday, as well, took ample opportunity to. They showed the end table of their ZDF betting game, Breyer praising Hyballa for winning, strongly ahead of Manuel Gräfe. Mertesacker: "Help me I can't read, whose is the name at the bottom there? Losing by a wide margin?" Breyer "I think it says Kramer, yes, Kramer with a meagre 64 points!" Everybody laughing, Kramer nodding. "Yes, and that is why I'm more 'ausführende Gewalt' [lit. 'executive power', but 'Gewalt' also means 'force', 'violence', 'sway']! (Everybody laughing) And you are the experts. I can't believe how much I learned from you once again this time around, like Peter using so many big words to describe football that I'd never even heard before!" :))

it's honestly pretty impressive that chrikra was already making such an impression at that point. it also shows that it's really what's natural for him, since at that point he wouldn't have been particularly "seasoned" when it came to dealing with the media as a professional athlete
