“A dragon would only accept a dragonlord to ride it. Or so say the histories.
Valyrian histories. Written to guild us in glory.” HOTD S2E5
Rhaenyra genuinely believed this but you can’t sell the Targ myth of true-born dragon incest supremacy to someone who only has a dragon because of a lie about his identity.

"The simple fact about the Greens is they are nothing but caricature villains in the book. So in an attempt to make them interesting, the show had to cut things out or make shit up. They toned down Aemond's unhinged nature when he was nothing but a full on maniac in the book. Helaena who was just there in the book was made a dreamer which contributed nothing.
The Blacks? Rhaenyra lost her agency and her friends, Daemon's loving relationship with his daughters was undermined/ignored, Baela and Rhaena didn't get lines or characterisation as adults, Jace and Luke were reduced to wimps when both were called worthy capable fighters in the book. And many of their scenes were deleted.
And despite this butchery, most people root for the Blacks. And Condal, the showrunner, says people will switch sides in season 2. Which means more bad writing and character butchery for the Blacks team characters. This doesn't bode well." Oh how I love Black stans complaining about Greens being more than one dimensional characters and treating stories written by different people as one true source of knowledge. Not to mention that in George's world everyone is grey, but they don't care what author himself says, because Rhaenyra needs to be the best and Greens bunch of psychos. Aemond being "softer" is the best thing that happened in the show and I am glad that showrunners think people will switch sides. Good for them
though i doubt the writers' ability to comprehend how much damage some of the writing from s1 did to the audience's ability to comprehend this is as a generally complex story where both sides have points and thus connect w the green characters, i do agree that idk why they're complaining. from what i know f&b is a series of events told by people who were mostly not present for a lot of the stuff that happened so did they really think stuff wasn't gonna be changed?
also if they're so bothered by complex characters and stories, they should go watch a marvel movie or smth.
but tbh, i do think that a lot of depth in the show was not properly implemented. alicent's lack of involvement in the plot to instill aegon and focusing a bit too much on rha*nicent which takes away from alicent's agency to do what she did in the story to basing aegon's coronation on mostly a deathbed confession from viserys.
i think that outside the push for rha*nicent, the writers were probably scared that if they made alicent actually actively and consciously push for her children and herself and thought this would make her more sympathetic maybe but she's more hated than one of the most abusive characters in the show so the math did not work out in the end.
