calming angry rafe down..... i NEEEEEED himmmm asdfghjkl
“wanna talk about it?” you ask softly, leaning toward him, your hopeful gaze searching his face.
he shakes his head faintly, eyes closing as he rests his head back against the seat. “nothing to talk about. just topper being topper—trying to get me to break his fucking kneecaps.” his tone is flat, but the undercurrent of frustration is unmistakable.
you blink at his casual mention of violence, pressing a gentle kiss to his shoulder. “he doesn’t like me very much, does he?”
at your words, rafe’s irritation flares visibly, his fingers flexing as if resisting the urge to punch something. “he just needs to piss off. fuck,” he growls, his voice low and rough. “and i know—i know—he can’t stand it. he hates that i get close to someone he can’t touch, someone who’s fucking mine. he’s a pissy little bitch, and the next time i see him—”
“rafe,” you interrupt softly, sensing the dangerous direction his thoughts are heading. “calm down…” you murmur, your voice soothing as you lean in to press a featherlight kiss to his cheek.
his breathing is still uneven, his chest rising and falling with controlled restraint. “you’re getting way too worked up,” you whisper, cradling his face with one hand, your thumb grazing along the sharp line of his cheekbone.
his lips remain tight, his gaze hard, but he doesn’t pull away. you take the opportunity to scatter soft kisses across his cheeks, the corner of his mouth, and finally his lips. your touch is gentle, alternating between quick pecks and lingering brushes. at first, he’s unresponsive, but slowly he starts kissing back, his lips yielding to yours in unspoken surrender.
you trail your kisses lower, down along the line of his jaw to his neck. you feel the tension in his shoulders begin to ease, the tightness in his posture softening under the warmth of your lips.
your hand glides down his chest, your fingertips barely grazing the ridges of his abs, tracing slow, soothing patterns. his breaths come slower now, steadier, the anger slowly ebbing away with each kiss you leave on his skin.
rafe remains still, his arms resting at his sides, his body still tense under your gentle touch and then your hands find the edge of his sweatpants.
your hand is halfway in when he tenses, "you don't have to do this—" he starts but you're cutting him off. "i want to." you whisper softly and he knows you want to, you've been trying and asking for days. he was the one to insist you go slower which was fair since you were the one who wanted to go slow in the very beginning. that all changed the moment you two made out for the first time. you'd quickly thrown 'slow' in the trash.
you kiss your way back to his lips, "will you tell me how?" you'd seen videos and could also imagine what to do but actually doing it was a lot different. rafe hums against your lips, "take it out first," he mutters with his lips inching yours.
you glance down and slowly take his semi-hard cock out of his pants. you stare at it for a couple of seconds. it's heavier than you'd imagined, fat and veiny with this glossy pink tip that makes your mouth water just a little. without a word from rafe, you're curiously running your hand along it.
you don't expect rafe to tense at your touch and you're immediately looking up at him in surprise when he does. "did that hurt? did i just hurt you?" you ask and his smile is genuine, "quite the opposite." he rasps and then his hand is covering yours gently. he guides your hands up and down along his fat cock and you're a little mesmerised watching it slowly grow in size.
rafe's heavy breathing tells you it's going good so far but you want to get it in your mouth. the nerd in you is trying to calculate how it would even be possible, how you could get such a big dick past your lips without choking on it.
you're lowering your head to get him into your mouth when he stops you gently, fingers on your chin. "no teeth." he explains and you're nodding before you're desperately trying to get down there again. he stops you, again. "just..take it easy, start with the tip and slowly take more." he continues, eyes boring into yours. you could see the lust in them, just pooling in his eyes as he watched you practically drool to get his cock in your mouth.
the moment he let go of you, your tongue was darting out just enough to slowly lick along his fat tip. rafe hissed and gripped the car handle, "fuck," he whispered lowly. you pulled back and looked at it. you weren't sure why you expected it to do something and when it didn't, you just gave it another experimental lick before slowly wrapping your lips around the tender head, suckling gently.
"that's it, baby..take it easy.." rafe is muttering as you suckle on his warm tip. you hesitate for only a second before you're taking more of him in your mouth and you don't expect the tears to come so quickly. they don't really bother you. you realize nothing really bothers you while he's in your mouth. your mind has gone completely empty, void of any noise or thought, he's all you can feel, all you can sense is him filling you up.
it doesn't take long before you're bopping your head up and down and drooling all over his cock. rafe is groaning and grunting every couple of seconds and his hands are in your hair but you can feel him resisting, can feel the moment he wants to push your head down but every time, he stops himself and just lets you go at your own pace.
you whimper when you attempt for the third time to get his entire lenght down your throat and almost want to cry in frustration that he just won't fit. rafe is holding your head back, trying to say something but continously getting cut off by his own moans. "p-perfect, baby, fuck, that's perfect.." he tilts his head back and holds onto you so you stop moving for five seconds. you were eager, so goddamn determined. "stop forcing..you'll hurt yourself." he grunts before he's letting you go and your mouth is right back on his cock, seeking that fuzzy feeling, that instant quietening of the mind.
you know he won't fit unless rafe bucks his hips up and fucks your mouth and you know he won't do that so you settle for using your hands for the part of him you can't reach. you stroke him up and down and your drool helps keep it all smooth and wet. "jesus..fuck, fuck.." rafe moans, voice low, and then you're speeding up, just a little. you just want more, want it to take you over, want to make rafe feel good.
something seems to snap in him because his hands fly to your hair and he's groaning, shoving your head down onto his fat cock. he forces you to take more and more of him and the noises you make are filthy and down-right obscene. you're whining, high, and desperate around his veiny cock as you try to keep up with how he's pushing your head down over and over.
you're choking around him, tears streaming down your cheeks and he's doing all the work now, gripping your hair and shoving your head down, pushing your mouth onto his cock. "g-god..that's it..!" his hips stutter, and then he's hurriedly pulling your mouth off of him as his cum squirts out and covers his cock and a bit of his shirt.
you stare at his tip, a little dazed while you catch your breath. you watch the creamy white lines cover it and without giving it much thought, you're licking the cum off his length and tip. rafe hisses at the feeling of your tongue on his sensitive tip, "if i knew you wanted it, i would've come in your mouth." he's mumbling, and only then do you look at him, "why didn't you?" you ask, mind still a little fuzzy.
"because a lot of people don't like it." he's got this lazy smile on his face as he runs his fingers through your hair. you blink at him and try to think of a reason someone wouldn't want it. all that hard work for nothing?
"did you like it?" you ask him as he sadly puts himself back in his sweats. he's chuckling, "did i like it? that has to be a rhetorical question." he pats his leg gently and you're on his lap in a matter of seconds. "i liked it." you mutter as he presses a couple of kisses to your lips. he pauses and cups your cheeks gently, "are you sure you liked it?" he's whispering softly, "you seem..out of it."
you were out of it; eyes still dilated, mind still fuzzy, brain still empty. you'd never ever felt like this. "i'm really sure i liked it." you nod and rest your head on his shoulder. "i wanna do it again." you confess which has him chuckling again. "you won't hear a complaint from me.

Oh but this is fascinating.
If "it's fictional because it doesn't exist in nature," then anything that exists through human intervention doesn't exist!
house. Eiffel Tower. crime. tin. Australia. bread. dog. ink. oranges. music. job. tunnel. Sony.
Have they' conflated fictional with fabricated, meaning both "made" and "made up"?
That's an example of polysemy, a word containing multiple meanings.
Polysemy is common in most languages. Less so for English, which is about 5 languages in a teenchcoat, so it has a huge vocabulary. Different shades of meaning have become associated with different words, and the scope of each word has tended to shrink.
I wonder if that contributes to some English-speakers' literalism.
Here's another example of polysemy from [problematic] Joseph Campbell, whose descriptive ideas about mythology tend to be misapplied proscriptively;
The [interviewer] began argumentatively, “The word ‘myth,’ means ‘a lie.’ Myth is a lie.”
So I replied with my definition of myth. “No, myth is not a lie. A whole mythology is an organization of symbolic images and narratives, metaphorical of the possibilities of human experience and the fulfillment of a given culture at a given time.”
“It’s a lie,” he countered.
“It’s a metaphor.”
“It’s a lie.”
This went on for about twenty minutes. Around four or five minutes before the end of the program, I realized that this interviewer did not really know what a metaphor was. I decided to treat him as he was treating me.
“No,” I said, “I tell you it’s metaphorical. You give me an example of a metaphor.”
He replied, “You give me an example.”
I resisted, “No, I’m asking the question this time.” I had not taught school for thirty years for nothing. “And I want you to give me an example of a metaphor.”
[...]
Finally, with something like a minute and a half to go, he rose to the occasion at said, “I’ll try. My friend John runs very fast. People say he runs like a deer. There’s a metaphor.”
As the last seconds of the interview ticked off, I replied, “That is not the metaphor. The metaphor is: John is a deer.”
He shot back, “That’s a li v e.”
“No,” I said, “That is a metaphor.”
And the show ended. What does that incident suggest about our common understanding of metaphor?
It made me reflect that half the people in the world think that the metaphors of their religious traditions, for example, are facts. And the other half contends that they are not facts at all. As a result we have people who consider themselves believers because they accept metaphors as facts, and we have others who classify themselves as atheists because they think religious metaphors are lies.
This argument goes all the way back to Plato and Socrates, who redefined mythos "story, utterance, thing said/told" as pseudos "lie, falsehood,"
It seems to me the problem is not only literalism, the refusal to recognize polysemy or nuance, but a tendency to insist on one meaning of a word when, in context, it means another.
Campbell was concerned with literalism in religion. Now, it's creeping into science, which you'd think would be a better fit for literalism, but not if we latch omto the wrong meanings of words.
Think of the scientific use of "theory" to mean a widely-accepted explanation of something supported by evidence, experiments, and a large body of scientific research by many different research, vs the general public's dismissive use of "theory' to mean hypothesis.
If we've got a lot of people who think scientific theories are unproven guesses, and even that fabricated materials are imaginary, no wonder trust in science is eroding.
or else I'm reading way way way too much into one person's post. 😅
i logged on to twitter.com and saw somebody say “plutonium is fictional because it doesnt exist in nature”. which, one, i dont think is entirely true, im fairly certain trace amounts of plutonium exist in natural uranium deposits, and two, that is such a frankly wonderfully incorrect definition of fictional and im deeply intrigued by the implications. concrete is fictional. polyester doesnt exist

if there was one thing you could miss about kaiser it’s being able to run your fingers through his long messy hair. it’s the way the tips of your fingers occasionally bumped on his scalp, it’s the way your fingers might’ve gotten stuck on a knot that you’d have to use an actual brush on, it was the way he’d show up to training with little untied and half-finished braids that would eventually just . . . fall after every goal, maybe it was also the way kaiser said he hated it but didn’t punch you in the face.
“ness, can you braid that side?” you ask the man that’s on the opposite side of you. kaiser looks annoyed—sitting with his legs crossed while the both of you guys knelt at his sides to play with his long hair. “sure but we have practice soon,” he responds with a smile and kaiser groans at his very enthusiastic teammate.
that’s why when ness agreed to cut kaiser’s hair, you felt betrayed—devastated, even. “oh good graciousness, when did that happen?” you ask with a jaw that’s wide open as you stare at his new hairstyle, it’s hard to describe into words but it’s really . . . eye-catching, especially with the blue hair dye that mixes with his blond hair.
“wanted to get rid of it.”
you don’t play with his hair anymore, mostly because you basically have nothing to tug on anymore other than the two stupid rat tails he has to which you have twisted together at least once. your finger-combing agenda suddenly vanished and your fidget toy which was his hair was replaced by numerous hair-ties and bracelets.
not like he minded. he finally had his hair for himself without some person overtaking it with their hands and he didn’t have to bother himself with putting it up any longer.
nope, he was totally lying—he did mind. he minded that there were no more hands—your hands—getting tangled in his hair and the dull pain that came with it. he minded the way your fingers fiddled with those objects instead of his hair. he didn’t necessarily care about his hair, he cared about your hands in his hair.
he thinks you’re being real stubborn,
kaiser is fed up now. the man is crazy enough to grab your wrist in the middle of nowhere when you’re twisting a black hair-tie and bring it to his head (CRINGE EWWW). “what are you doing?” you’re as shocked as you were the day you saw his new hairstyle—by instinct, you try to remove the fingers that are caught up in his locks but his grip is deadly and unwilling to let go. “exactly what it looks like.” he’s saying it straight-faced without an inch of regret in his actions nor words. you roll your eyes at his insistence because all this time, you thought he hated when you threaded your fingers around his hair. “didn’t you say you didn’t like me doing it?” you question, fingers unwilling to move. “i’ll hate you even more if you don’t move.” he grumbles.
but he’ll fix that.

sticky note. lowkey me just mourning his hair . . . someone please tell me kaiser won’t break plsplsplslpls don’t do this to me i can’tican’tican’t omg no bring kaiser back kaiser comeback when pls don’t go back to germany pls make it up with ness plspslpslpslsplspsls don’t die plsplsplsplsplsplspls

UNLIMITED ACCESS!

This was wonderfully requested by my beloved @madam8 who gave me such a beautiful idea for a sylus date and I couldn't let go of it until I completed it 😭😭🩷🩷 like it's so cute that even when I was studying I kept thinking of new ways to end the fic or new scenes to add into it. --- it was ...AAUGH- my heart ...tho I do apologize for how long this one took out ur girl was busy trying not to fail classes 💀💀 ...lol 💅🏻
p.s if you see my corpse surrounded by flowers anywhere you can blame it on this ask ✨️ I LOVE IT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It started, as most things with Sylus did, with...
extravagance.
He had a habit of planning nights that felt more like events—private rooftops overlooking the shimmering city skyline, candlelit dinners in places that required reservations months in advance, evenings where the very sky seemed to bend to his will.
Luxurious. Impeccable. Always grand.
And while you loved those moments—loved him—there was something else you had been craving lately.
Something... simpler.
So one evening, as he idly twirled a glass of dark liquor between his fingers and casually mentioned taking you to a private villa on an island, you leaned into his space, resting your chin on your palm, and asked—
"Why don’t we do something more…plain? Just for the day—I mean."
Sylus stilled slightly, red eyes flickering toward you, waiting.
"Don’t get me wrong, I love our dates," you continued, "but I think it’d be nice to just do something fun. Silly, even. Maybe a little childish?"
A playful smile curled at your lips.
"Just… something where you don’t have to rent out an entire skyline to impress me."
He raised a brow, surprised. "You wish for something plain?"
You grinned. "Exactly. So let’s just have a normal date. Like—oh! What about an amusement park? Or an arcade? Or the fair!"
Sylus exhaled through his nose, setting his glass down with a measured movement. "Your ideas are enjoyable… I wouldn't mind indulging in them."
"Yeah! It’ll be fun, I promise. We can see what rides you like, if you’ll actually tolerate roller coasters, or if you’re one of those people who insists they’re too predictable." You smirked. "Oh, and you have to try winning me something from one of those carnival games."
He regarded you with that ever-neutral gaze, quiet and considering, before finally murmuring—
"For you, I wouldn’t mind fulfilling that request."
You smiled, pressing a playful kiss to his cheek, already excited for whatever simple, carefree date he would plan.
Or so you thought.
Because somehow—somehow—things escalated.
Instead of just buying tickets like a normal person, Sylus had decided the best course of action was to…
Buy. The. Entire. Damn. Park.
Your favorite amusement park, to be exact.
And now here you stood at the entrance, staring up at the massive sign that should have been buzzing with families, groups of friends, and screaming children running past in excitement.
Instead, it was silent.
The ticket booths? Closed. The parking lot? Void of life.
The only people here were you, Sylus, and the staff, who stood patiently, waiting only for the two of you.
You turned to him slowly, your brain still buffering.
"Sylus… I—when I said I wanted a fun day with you… this isn’t exactly what I had in mind."
Sylus, as usual, looked completely unbothered. "Did I get the wrong park?"
You blinked. "…No, but—Sylus, what—" You gestured at the empty surroundings, struggling to form a coherent thought. "You didn’t have to—How did you even do this?"
He tilted his head, as if you had asked a genuinely confusing question. "I bought it."
You took a deep breath. "No, I know that, but why?"
Sylus blinked at you, expression calm yet calculating, like he was trying to gauge whether you were actually upset.
"Would you prefer a different one? I can acquire another if this one isn’t to your liking."
You choked. "Acquire—Sylus, I meant let’s just have a normal day at the park! With other people! Like… buying tickets, not—not monopolizing an entire amusement park for us!"
He hummed thoughtfully. "That would be inconvenient. I don’t like crowds."
Your brain short-circuited. "Okay, fair, but I’m not even sure how to react to this." You ran a hand down your face, staring at the vast, empty park. "Do I just… accept this? Should I ask you to sell it back? Is it even going to open to normal people when we're not here?"
Sylus exhaled softly, fingers curling beneath your chin, tilting your face up to meet his gaze. His red eyes, sharp yet steady, held an intensity that made your breath hitch.
"I wanted you to have the best experience," he murmured, his voice low, deliberate—like he was peeling back the layers of his thoughts just for you. "No interruptions. No strangers ruining our time. No one else pulling your attention away."
His thumb ghosted along your jaw, his touch as careful as it was possessive.
"I wanted today to be ours. Every moment, every ride, every second—only for us."
Your heart squeezed at the weight of his words.
Sylus was always confident, always in control—but this was different. This wasn’t about power or extravagance.
This was about ...you.
He had done this for you.
Damn him.
Damn him and his ability to turn something so ridiculous into something that made your heart melt.
You sighed, pressing your fingers against your temples before looking up at him again. "You really don’t do things halfway, huh?"
His lips twitched, almost smirking. "Would you expect anything less?"
You huffed, shaking your head. "Not at all."
His hand slipped from your chin to your wrist, fingers curling around it as he tugged you toward the entrance.
"Then let’s stop worrying about it and enjoy it as much as we can."
You let him pull you forward, your brain still catching up to the fact that this was happening. That you were about to experience an amusement park that was literally all yours for the day.
And honestly?
You weren’t going to complain.
But as you walked in, something felt... strange.
The park was…alive?
Despite the complete absence of other guests, the workers were still here—acting as if today was a completely normal day.
Vendors stood at their booths, flipping burgers, making cotton candy, lining up pretzels under warming lamps. The game stalls were manned, workers casually leaning against counters, ready to hand out prizes.
The park’s parade performers were still marching down the street. A princess in a poofy dress waved at you. Mascot characters moved in synchronized greetings, despite the fact that no one was here but you.
It was… surreal.
Sylus squeezed your hand as you slowed to take it all in. "I told them to proceed as usual. It would’ve been eerie if everything was frozen."
You turned to him. "So… it’s like the park is still running, but we’re the only ones who get to experience it?"
He nodded. "Yes. Don’t you think it’s better this way?"
You inhaled deeply, looking around again.
Sylus watched you carefully, his sharp eyes scanning your face. "Are you alright?"
You hesitated, then let out a quiet laugh.
“Of course! I mean—” You hesitated again, glancing around as your expression softened. “It’s nothing wrong, I promise! I love that you did this, I do, but…” You exhaled, running a hand through your hair before looking up at him again.
“I just—I wanted this day to be special not just for us entirely, but to have a moment together surrounded by everyone and everything.” Your voice was gentle, thoughtful. “The chatter, the energy, the crowds moving past us. The chaos of it all.”
You shrugged, a little sheepish. “I know you don’t like being around too many people, and I love that you wanted to make this day perfect for me, but part of what makes an amusement park so special is the shared experience, y’know? That feeling of being one in a sea of people, laughing together, screaming on rides, getting bumped into by kids running past, standing too close in lines because there's no choice…”
Your words trailed off as you searched his gaze, unsure how he’d react.
For a moment, Sylus didn’t say anything. His red eyes remained locked onto yours, unreadable, but there was something contemplative in the way his fingers idly traced over your knuckles, as if considering your words carefully.
Then, finally, he exhaled through his nose—slow and measured, his grip loosening ever so slightly.
“…I see...I- ” His voice was as calm as ever, but there was a shift in his tone.
He glanced around, taking in the completely empty pathways, the stalls with no customers, the parade performing for no one but you two. The sight of the workers, stationed and waiting, but missing the usual life of the park.
Sylus was pragmatic. He saw a problem, he solved it. Simple. To him, the best way to ensure you had an amazing day was to remove all obstacles—the crowds, the noise, the inconvenience of waiting in lines or dealing with other people.
But now, as he watched you, something seemed to click.
“…Would you like me to open the park?”
Your eyes widened. “Wait—you mean, like, right now?”
He nodded once. “If it would make you happy.”
Your heart stuttered. "Sylus—I didn’t say all that just to guilt you into—”
He raised a brow. “It’s not about guilt. You wanted to share this moment with people and I took that possibility from you” He pulled out his phone as if he could undo an entire park shutdown with a single call—which, knowing him, he probably could.
You stared at him, then let out a disbelieving laugh, reaching to stop his hand before he could dial. “Okay, hold on, let’s think about this rationally—”
Sylus merely looked at you, waiting for what you were bound to say next.
You exhaled, lacing your fingers with his properly. “Look, it’s okay. I love what you did, and I will enjoy this day with you.” You squeezed his hand. “I just needed a moment to process it, that’s all.”
Sylus was silent for a moment, his red eyes scanning your face as if committing every little twitch of emotion to memory. Then, his gaze flickered past you, landing on a nearby booth.
A teddy bear stand.
Without a word, he turned, gently tugging you along by the hand.
You blinked in surprise. “Wait—where are we—?”
He stopped in front of the booth, staring at the rows of stuffed bears lined up in varying sizes, from tiny keychains to ones nearly as tall as you. His jaw was set, unreadable, but his grip around your hand was firm.
“Sylus?” You tilted your head at him, watching as he eyed the game—a classic ring toss setup.
“I failed to give you what you really wanted,” he murmured, almost to himself. “You should at least receive something in return.”
Your chest tightened at the way he said it.
Soft, but laced with frustration.
Like he was genuinely bothered that his attempt to make you happy had missed the mark.
“Sylus…” You squeezed his hand, stepping closer. “You don’t have to win me anything—”
He ignored that, already rolling up his sleeves with practiced ease. His focus was entirely on the game now, eyes narrowing slightly as he studied the distance, the weight of the rings stacked beside the booth’s attendant.
Your lips parted in disbelief.
Sylus said nothing, simply holding his hand out for the rings. The worker—completely unphased, as if watching an overpowered, absurdly rich man win rigged carnival games was just another part of the job—wordlessly handed them over.
You sighed, a smile tugging at your lips despite yourself. "Sylus, you really don’t have to—”
The first ring landed perfectly on the bottle.
Your mouth snapped shut.
Another.
And another.
Without missing a single shot.
The worker gave a small, almost-impressed nod. “Pick your prize.”
Sylus turned to you, expectant.
You stared between him and the game, caught between laughter and disbelief. “This your way of an apology gift?
“And would that change anything if I said yes?”
“Sylus –”
You huffed, shaking your head before pointing to one of the bigger teddy bears—one with a white soft, plush face and an oversized red ribbon around its neck.
Sylus retrieved it without hesitation, turning to face you fully as he held it out.
“ you sure you didn't have me in mind? ” he said simply.
You giggled at him, your fingers curling around the soft fabric as you accepted the gift. “mayyybee”
It wasn’t about the bear. It wasn’t about the game.
It was him.
Sylus, who never half-assed anything. Who overthought in ways you weren’t always aware of. Who, despite his arrogance, still hated feeling like he had let you down.
Your heart squeezed painfully.
“…You’re too much at times” you murmured, hugging the teddy bear to your chest.
He exhaled, shaking his head. “Says the one getting emotional over a stuffed animal.”
You shot him a playful glare, but when he reached out, brushing his fingers against your wrist, you softened.
“....Still,Thank you, for everything-- I mean” you murmured.
Sylus didn’t say anything, but his grip lingered—just for a second—not thinking of letting you go.
But as you continued walking, you caught the way his fingers brushed against his phone once more, a brief flicker of thought crossing his expression.
You narrowed your eyes. “Sylus.”
“Hm?”
“You’re not secretly opening the park back up again ….behind my back…are you?”
His lips curled, amused. “...perhaps”

Over the past ten years, Danny Fenton’s life has been a whirlwind, and that’s an understatement. Nonetheless, despite being the Ghost King and a consultant for the JLD as Phantom, Danny’s life is ordinary. Or as ordinary as a halfa king could manage.
Danny remembers being 17 and feeling so helpless and overwhelmed, especially when Jazz moved away for college. He didn’t expect that to be the end of his struggles. His sister coming back for Christmas break with the Justice League in tow was not on his bingo card, nor were his parents and Vlad being tried for supervillainy or the Anti-Ecto Acts and the GIW being a hoax. However, according to Tucker, the most surprising part of their senior year was their trio graduating with near-perfect attendance and good grades.
Nowadays, life is good for Danny. While his responsibilities as the High King of the Infinite Realms and his attachment to his haunt keep him from leaving Amity Park, he has found balance. After his identity as Phantom was revealed to the town, the community rallied in support of the half-dead teenager who saw his parents go to jail. Following Jazz’s insistence, he has enrolled in an online Astronomy and Engineering degree, which he finds much easier than high school. He doesn’t even have to worry about money, being the new owner of FentonWorks and DalvCo.
All in all, life is, finally, cutting the halfa some slack, which is why he now has more free time to fill, ergo his current situation. Sam, Tucker and Jazz are debating on his computer screen about what hobby he should try.
“Danny, dude, I’m telling you, you should take programming classes. We could make our own video game and-“Tucker’s excited rant cuts off as Jazz mutes the both of them.
“After the ecto-contamination of everyone in Amity, you’ll probably find a lot of people willing to join an environmentalist group. You know my activism rubbed off on you.” Sam’s voice is almost covered by the deep sigh that escapes Tucker and Danny can’t help but smile at his best friends’ antics.
“You guys, we’re trying to figure out something Danny would like. Baby brother, what is something you’d like to do ?” Danny can’t help but miss his sister when he sees her exasperated smile at his friends’ insistence that he tries something they like.
Leaning against his desk, his face in his hand, he shrugs, a bit embarrassed. “Actually, I did have an idea but I’m not sure.” On his screen, his sister’s face is open and supportive, meanwhile, Sam and Tucker don’t seem to have noticed they were inaudible. “I, maybe, wanted to try streaming ? You guys obviously don’t have as much time to play video games with me and it’s really not the same on my own… I like the idea of finding a community of people who enjoy listening to my weird space and ghost rants without having to leave Amity. Not that the Parkers aren’t my friends but—” He pushes his hair out of his face with a sigh, looking up at the ceiling. “I guess I want to meet new people ? But I don’t actually want to meet them.”
“That sounds great, Danny.” Jazz, supportive as always, finally unmutes the two.
“Yeah dude, I’m down to help you set it all up. You’re gonna need equipment-“
“And you’re gonna need to ectoproof it too. Are you going to hide your identity ? Acting like ghosts and your powers are the norm would be so funny.”
“Right, you could ask a ghost artist to make your channel art. You clearly already have a niche thing going, you know ?” His Fraid’s excitement makes Danny feel more confident in his idea.
“What do you guys think of the name CosmicSpecter ?”
Jason has been back in Gotham for about two years. His relationship with his family is still strained but it is improving. He has a good thing going with Red Hood and his gang. However, he is still plagued by the Pit Madness, despite his best efforts he still doesn’t feel like himself. Meanwhile, everyone around him has accepted, however reluctantly, that this is who he is now, but Jason refuses to. He knows this isn’t him, but he is resigned that the foreign rage trying to control him will torment him until his (next) dying breath.
Maybe it’s fate, maybe it’s boredom, maybe it’s the scary TubeYou algorithm that has him clicking on the livestream thumbnail while tittering close to the Pit Rage. The guy has 463 subscribers and 6 current viewers and he’s halfway through a burrito when Jason joins. The light is dim, and his eyes seem to be reflecting the light. A meta, maybe ?
“Hiya ‘botched-resurrection’, nice to see a fellow undead here.” He takes a swig of a too green liquid from a soda bottle and flashes the camera with a wide smile. “We’ll go back to playing once I’m done eating. This new joint opened a few years ago, since our town isn’t under a fake government lockdown anymore, and honestly, I’m pleasantly surprised. My sister is probably relieved I’m eating something other than a burger.” The guy’s eyes widen slightly when a $20 donation comes through from one ‘jazz_hands’. “Really Jazz ? ‘Twenty whole American dollars in hopes you’ll eat healthier food one day’. There are real vegetables in here you know ? You’re being too harsh. Also stop sending me money as an excuse to embarrass me on stream.”
This is the start of the prologue I'm posting on ao3 tomorrow probably, I'll link once it's up
Streamer Danny AU, but he’s a really minor streamer. Like, he does it mainly just for his own fun and only has a few intermittent viewers.
But somehow Jason finds his channel anyway, and something about his voice is captivating. The pit rage quiets down in his presence. So he starts tuning in to basically every stream, or just putting on the VODs in the background to fall asleep to.
And on the other side, Danny takes note of this new subscriber who’s quite possibly his first truly dedicated viewer. So he starts interacting with him on stream sometimes - greeting him when he shows up in the chat, specifically asking/answering questions, etc
Needless to say, this did not help Jason’s growing semi-parasocial crush in the slightest…

contingency operations
n. def. - a situation requiring military operations in response to natural disasters, terrorists, subversives, or as otherwise directed by appropriate authority to protect US interests.
who? spencer reid (s7) x analyst!reader summary: when a former navy SEAL threatens your base of operations, your safety is the only thing on spencer's mind. content warnings: jealous and pining spencer, gun talk, spencer kind of manhandles you, spencer getting cockblocked by jj word count: 1.8k a/n: don't hate me, i didn't have his confession speech planned.
Tumblr media
It’s not that far a stretch for you to be the first person he thinks of — while JJ’s negotiating with her DoD contacts to get them a look at a classified operation, he’s gone upstairs to look for you. Working in counterintelligence meant you had access to all kinds of information, whether that be domestic or international. Spencer carefully carried the cup of coffee, file pinned under his arm, aiming to find you at your cubicle, except you’re standing at another one, perched on the table while you talked to another person.
Spencer’s not the kind to get jealous, or so he thought, except the guy you’re talking to isn’t like the others who occupy the floor — he’s got broad shoulders and an easy smile, and at least if he was blond, he wouldn’t have been competition. He just had to be a brunet, charming to top it off. Spencer doesn’t know if he’s ever made you smile unless you were teasing him.
The longer he stands there, the more awkward he feels, and he eventually gets the nerve to knock on your desk and make you look up — an improvement to a year ago where he would have just pretended to look lost and leave. His stomach turns when he watches you place your hand on the guy’s shoulder, squeezing as you walk away.
“Is that a bribe I see?” you asked, the corner of your lip curling as you spied the coffee in his hand.
“Nope, it’s completely unrelated to the favor I came to ask,” Spencer said, earning a rueful look as you take it and sit in your chair.
“What do you need?” you asked, sipping the coffee that was made perfectly to your liking — he'd gotten to know your preferences better over the last year, spending more time together since the Doyle case. You'd been an escape from the suffocating emptiness of the bullpen, and he'd been good company when you had been barred from Penelope's lair for 6 months.
“Anything you might have on Dorado Falls,” Spencer said, his voice rising an octave in hope that you might help as you go through your files.
“And Pen can’t do this because?” you asked, pulling up your file directory.
“She doesn’t have clearance,” Spencer said, lacing his fingers together and twisting it in his nervousness. As expected, you turn your head to look at him.
“You want eyes on a classified op you don’t have the clearance for?” you asked, raising a brow at him.
“Yes?” He's got this puppy-eyed look, like when he asks if you have lunch plans, or if you want to see a 4-hour long sci-fi film that's only available in Russian.
“Reid,” you said with a sigh, rubbing your forehead. “I can’t just—”
“He killed 8 people in one day,” Spencer insisted in a hushed voice. “He’s got a U.S. General as a hostage, I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important.” He watched your folded lips, your contemplative look, and he can finally take a breath when you turn your chair and acquiesce.
“You people are gonna get me fired one of these days,” you muttered under your breath, Spencer leaning over your shoulder as you find the file you’re looking for. “Navy SEAL operation, 2003, this what you’re looking for?” you asked, his breath fanning over your cheek, warm and coffee-tinged. If you turned your head, you could probably kiss his cheek — not that you would. But the thought crosses your mind as he nodded.
“That’s the one,” he said, and moved when you had to reach for the drawer, copying the file onto a clean flashdrive before ejecting it.
“I like my job, Reid,” you said, turning to look at him, which you could do forever with his coiffed hair and blue sleeves rolled to his elbows, paired with a grey vest. “If I get fired, you’re paying my rent,” you continued, pressing the flashdrive into his hand and his lips break into a smile.
“You’re a lifesaver,” he replied, closing his hand over the drive and leaving you to your work, and you watched him walk until he got to the glass doors, holding back a laugh as you watched him break into an awkward run for the elevators.
Tumblr media
The next time he goes to your floor, he doesn’t bother waiting for the lift, running up stairs as fast as he can to get to you before the unsub does — even though it’s wholly unprofessional. He needs to be with his team, ready to talk down the unsub at a moment’s notice, but his focus shattered the moment he found out you hadn’t evacuated yet. Instead, you were focused on activating a failsafe program, in case anyone other than the members of your division moved to access the network on your floor.
“What are you still doing here?” Spencer yelled at you, almost skidding to your cubicle.
“Almost done, give me a second,” you said, gritting your teeth, fingers flying over your keyboard as you authenticate yourself. “Jesus Christ, I need to make this program faster,” you muttered and Spencer swears that if the unsub doesn’t kill you, he might.
“Really? There’s a Navy SEAL breaking into the building, and you’re thinking of more projects to work on?” he demanded, his hands pressed to his revolver.
“There’s a Navy SEAL on his way and you think a cowboy pistol’s gonna save you?” you retorted sharply.
“What do you have against my gun?” he asked, his voice rising in octave again.
“Uh, how about the reload for one,” you said. “What, do you carry around spare bullets in your pocket? Plus the recoil rules out rapid fire. What are you gonna do if you get pinned down?”
“I’m gonna keep you from getting killed,” he said, reaching out to grip your bicep. “You’re right, I don’t have the firepower of an uzi, what I can do is get us out of this room,” he finished, tugging your arm.
"Hold on, it's almost done," you muttered.
"No, I'm dragging you out of here now-" He said, but you just shrugged, still tapping away at the keys with only your left hand free.
"No, you can't," you said idly as you continued to work. "You haven't the strength to get me to move without cooperation, and I'm not leaving until I finish this."
“I-“ he opened his mouth, then closed it. What was he going to say? That you were being stubborn for the sake of it? That your life was more important than this task? That you should get up, and run with him? That he’d save you? He couldn’t voice any of those. You both knew them all anyway, and you’d be able to rebuff them with ease. “Just hurry, please.”
He leaned closer to you, trying to ignore the soft scent of your hair.
"Oh, well, now that you've told me to hurry," you responded dryly, turning your face to look at him, inches away from his. The proximity surprised him, but he barely had time to think about it before you were hitting return and taking your hand off the keys.
“Done,” you announced, standing up. “Time to run. Unless, of course, you want to argue about that too?”
"Can we?" he asked, pulling you along the corridor. "I do have a list of complaints about your recklessness."
"You have a list of complaints about everything," you retorted as he opened the fire escape door for you. You stepped through, Spencer closing the door behind you both.
"Your general attitude is up there," He admitted, running down the stairs and pulling you after him. "Your inability to keep yourself safe, your tendency to throw yourself into danger for the sake of a project—"
"Jesus Christ, Reid, if we find out a rogue operative is going to break in, you don't think we'd have a protocol for it?" you argued, frustrated.
"Yes, I believe the protocol is to evacuate," he reminded you, reaching the landing. He kept you close, though he'd never admit that it was to reassure himself.
"God, for a genius, you really are daft," you muttered, rounding the corner to another flight of stairs. "You think we'd just leave the entire network open for him?"
"No," he allowed, following your hurried footsteps. "But I don't think your life should be worth the risk. No data is worth you dying."
"Yeah, how about dozens of classified operations and cover identities that need to be kept under wraps?" you snapped at him. "I was doing my job, you're the one who came looking for me when you should be with your team."
"The team knows my priority is with you," he admitted, then immediately regretted it because that was information that he hadn't been planning to tell you.
You stopped in your tracks, staring at him. "What does that mean?"
His eyes widened and he backtracked. "The team knows that if you're threatened, the likelihood is I'll disregard protocol," he said. Well, it was the truth, even if it wasn't really what he'd meant. "We should keep moving," he said.
"No, you can't keep doing this," you demanded, pulling at his arm. "Every time, every time, you say this cryptic coded thing that I don't know what to do with. Just say what you mean, already!"
"I-I don't..." Spencer's heart was hammering in his chest, his eyes wide. The truth was, he wanted to tell you. He wanted you to know where you stood with him... but the fear of rejection would stop him every time. He was in love with you. He hadn't had the courage to admit it yet. His earpiece interrupts him, and for once in his life, Reid is almost glad to have his earpiece interrupt his thoughts.
“Reid, we’re seeing movement on the 7th floor, where are you?” JJ asked, her voice rushed.
"I'm in the stairwell with the most stubborn woman in the world," he said, looking pointedly at you as you scowled at him.
“Get back up here,” JJ replied. “We need all hands on deck.”
"I'm coming," he said, and looked at you. "So much for getting you out," he murmured. "If you run now, can I trust you won't go back to your desk?"
“Believe it or not, I have no interest in facing a 6 ft Navy SEAL,” you replied dryly.
"So that's a yes," he says, smiling despite his attempt to remain serious.
I'm in love with you, he thought, but he wasn't brave enough to say.
I don't want to lose you. He was even less willing to voice that.
"Don't stop running till you're out," he told you instead, his voice as firm as he could make it.
"Don't get killed by a SEAL," you replied, your sense of humor never failing you as you add, "Although, it would be a cool way to go out."
"I'm sure you'll be very smug about it at my funeral," he said, but neither of you were really smiling anymore. "I'll be okay," he promised you. "Get out of here."
You take one last lingering look at him, then started running down to the exit, leaving him behind.
It took him a full 5 seconds to start moving after you finally left, and the feeling of emptiness in his chest only grew with each step up the stairs.
He was in love with you, and he was determined to tell you.
Just not yet.

Readers POV
No one knew what to expect when the Daily Prophet reported that you, the eldest child of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, would be attending Hogwarts for your final year of schooling.
You'd been homeschooled your entire life due to your father's protective nature, but with Draco being 16, he felt you'd have adequate enough protection. Not to mention, he had more pressing matters to attend to than your schooling.
You were beside yourself with excitement. Finally, you'd see the outside of the walls of Malfoy Manor. Finally, you'd get to be around people that weren't Death Eaters twice your age, or your little brother. You loved Draco, but come on. A girl's gotta eat.
Draco and Professor McGonagall led you through the ancient corridors to the Great Hall, every portraits eye trained on you. The newcomer, the subject of many whispered conversations that passed by them less than an hour prior. It seemed even the castle itself was buzzing about your arrival.
You wanted desperately to ride the train with Draco, but your father insisted you be transported separately to minimize the scene you’re appearance would cause.
But you were not one for subtlety.
“I’m begging you to not make a scene,” Draco hissed in your ear, his Slytherin robes brushing your calves. You weren’t sure when it happened, but at some point your little brother grew like a weed and now stood a head taller than you.
“I wouldn’t dream of it, D.” You looped your arm through his, leaning your head on his shoulder. You were lying through your teeth, and he knew it.
“Seriously, y/n. There’s enough attention on us already.”
“Salazar’s tits, Draco! Would you relax? Everything will be fine.” The three of you reached the door to the Great Hall, closed firmly and unbelievably high. You swore you heard McGonagall curse under her breath, and Draco’s arm tightened around yours.
It seemed a scene would be made after all, and you fought the smile threatening to curve your lips.
“Ready, Malfoys?” McGonagall asked, turning to look over you both. The look in her eyes, almost pitying, made you hold Draco's arm a bit tighter, smile faltering.
What are they so worried about?
“As we’ll ever be,” Draco sighed.
McGonagall pushed open the doors, revealing the massive dining hall. Every table was filled with students, piles and piles of food over every surface, and more travelling on levitating trays around the room. Candles floated from the ceiling, the night sky clear and shining with stars.
Every head swiveled towards you, and you watched Draco’s demeanor change instantly. Suddenly, he was no longer Draco, but Lucius, and your stomach curdled, souring your excitement over a grand entrance.
Draco pulled you even closer to his side, casting a warning sneer to every eye that lingered too long while you walked towards Albus Dumbledore on the dais.
Your eyes ping-ponged from student to student, taking in the people you’d spend the next eight months with. You fought to keep your face neutral, an elegant mask of in difference like you'd been taught, but your heart pounded with excitement in your chest.
What a thrill to finally be seen.
The Gryffindor table was on your right, the maroon-clad students sizing you up with open disdain, but even that couldn't dampen the thrill tingling under your skin.
You spotted Harry Potter towards the center of the impossibly long table, flanked by some red-headed boy, Weasley, you surmised, and the girl you immediately recognized as Granger. Or so Draco called her, faux venom on his tongue.
His eyes flicked to her as well, and you suppressed the snicker that bubbled on your tongue. Despite your sheltered upbringing, you knew infatuation when you saw it.
You looked back towards the group, all of their eyes trained on you. But, your gaze snagged on one of them in particular, skipping over his twin beside him. His eyes were different, molten amber and sweet like honey, his hair like phoenix feathers, lips slightly parted like he was staring at a Great Wonder, but instead he was staring at you. Your heart gave an excited flutter.
Oh, there you are, a voice in the back of your mind whispered.
Tumblr media
George's POV
Of course, George had heard that the eldest Malfoy was joining their class. Everyone had heard about your arrival. And Lucius made a point of telling Arthur shortly after the decision was made, something about ‘Keep those trouble-making twins away from my daughter.’
But, when the doors opened to the Great Hall and you entered on Draco’s arm, George had been stunned silent anyways.
You were beautiful, unfairly so. Which of course you were, you’re a Malfoy for Merlin’s sake. And George found that he couldn’t look away.
As you walked towards Professor Dumbledore, you scanned the tables, a curious glint in your gaze betraying your disinterested expression. George watched your eyes skip over Dean, then Seamus, then Hermoine, Harry, Ron—until your eyes locked on his. The air was sucked from the room, his heart hammering like a cornered hare as your gaze inexplicably held his.
Even as you continued to walk by, your eyes remained locked together, your head turning just slightly. A smirk sharpened your angelic face, and George’s jaw went slack. But then Draco gave you a nudge and you turned forward, a slight skip in your step.
“—pretty fit, eh?” Fred muttered in his ear. “Oi, look at ‘im,” Fred snickered. “George? Geooooorgie?”
Ron snapped his fingers in front of his face and George jolted back to reality. “Merlin, mate. Earth to George.”
“Sorry, what’d ya’ say?” George asked, looking around at his friends. They all stared at him with a mix of amusement and abject horror.
“Said she’s pretty fit,” Fred chuckled, bumping his shoulder.
“She’s a Malfoy,” Hermoine scolded.
“Yeah, so by definition, she’s hot,” Seamus replied.
“Exactly—”
George tuned them out as you were lead up to the stage, the Sorting Hat waiting on a stool to your right. Dumbledore was speaking, but George tuned him out as well, too fixated on the arrogant slant of your smile, the mischief shining from your eyes.
You had trouble written all over you.
McGonagall lifted the Sorting Hat, placing it on your head, and it looked like you were speaking to it. He swore he saw you say 'Gryffindor'. Were you asking to hat to put in a house other than Slytherin?
From the agonized look on Draco's face, it seemed like maybe you were. What Malfoy didn't want to be in Slytherin?
“What is she saying to it?” Harry asked, leaning forward.
Finally, the hat gave a great laugh, rendering the hall silent. “What a mind you have, girl. Clever, cunning, mischievous—a troublesome combination indeed. Seems even a Malfoy can be more than they appear. But even still—” The room held it’s breath, and Draco looked like he might keel over from stress, even paler than usual. You crossed your fingers, eyes screwed shut like you were praying. “Slytherin!” The hat cried, and Draco exhaled, shaking his head at the dramatic pout on your face.
Saints, that pout. George wanted to sink his teeth into it.
“You think she’s going to be as bad as him?” Ginny asked, watching as Draco escorted you down the stairs and over to the roaring Slytherin table. People were throwing themselves out of their seats to make room for you, and you basked in the attention like a benevolent queen returned to her kingdom.
“Worse, probably,” George muttered, forcing himself to look away from you and back to his dinner. Suddenly, he found himself without an appetite.
Tumblr media
Reader's POV
Your first three weeks at Hogwarts had been a whirlwind of introductions, lectures, and parties. The world was at your feet, the lower classman wanted to be you, your classmates wanted to fuck you, and everyone else was terrified of you. You never had to wait for a drink, or a meal, and someone was always willing to do your assignments for you, not that you needed it.
It seemed your education under your father far surpassed that of your peers, in certain subjects at least. You could out cast them all with ease, and were looking forward to when dueling would begin.
And, you seemed to see your tall, red-headed boy everywhere you went. You'd learned that his name was George, a Weasley, Draco had sneered when he caught you ogling his tall, lean frame by the lake one afternoon.
You knew how your family felt about families like the Weasley's, but despite your father's best efforts, you couldn't bring yourself to hate someone for something as trivial as what ran through their veins.
An opportunity to speak to George hadn't presented itself until you'd escaped to the library one evening. The attention you initially craved was starting to border on suffocating, and you wanted a few hours of quiet to yourself.
It was a lesson your mother had taught you. You can withstand anything so long as you hold onto yourself.
But when you entered the library and started pursuing the stacks for the Potions section, you found none other than George Weasley stretched out in a window seat, a book in his lap, his head lolled against the window as he snored.
You tiptoed closer, taking in the state of him. He was dressed in trousers and a white button down, the sleeves pushed up to his elbows, his tie a little loose around his throat. His hair was messy, like he'd been running his fingers through it, and his socks were mismatched argyle.
You knew you shouldn't, but you found him extremely endearing, so soft-looking and cozy. Your fingers itched to straighten his tie, smooth his flaming hair.
Instead you lifted the book from his lap and read the cover. “Pyromancy and Magical Combustion: A Spellcaster’s Guide”
George stirred suddenly, his hands flexing around empty air.
You considered backing off and leaving him to rest, but where the fun in that?
“George,” you purred, but he didn't respond. “Geoooorge,” you tried again, poking him in the sternum. He turned his head, freckled nose scrunching. “George, darling. It's time to wake up.” You walked your fingers up his chest and tugged lightly on his red and gold tie.
“Hm?” He mumbled, brown lashes fluttering open to reveal his sleep-trodden, amber eyes. They locked on your face, widening for a second before he jolted upright. “Y/n? Merlin, where the fuck—”
“It’s alright, love,” you shushed him, using deft fingers to straighten his tie and fix his collar. “You're in the library, sleeping like an angel. Lucky it was me that found you and not Pince.” You glanced up at him, finding his jaw a little slack, his eyes round as he stared at you in shock.
You always were a little too bold for your own good. Reckless in the pursuit of what you wanted.
“I, uh, yeah. Lucky me.” He swiped a hand through his hair. “Sleeping like an angel, hm?” He asked, regaining some of that cheeky charm you’d witnessed from afar over the last few weeks. A trait that only piqued your interest further.
“You looked awfully sweet to me,” you said, batting your lashes.
“Said the rattlesnake to the kitten,” he said, a teasing lilt in his voice.
“Rattlesnake?” You scoffed, feigning hurt with a hand over your heart. “I don't bite!”
“I don't believe that for a second, Malfoy.” His eyes skimmed over your face, down to your lips.
You flashed said fangs, and he smiled back.
“Why are you in the library?” He asked, glancing over your shoulder. “Alone? I haven't seen you without Draco or one of his goons since you arrived.”
You rolled your eyes. Draco had assigned Theo Nott and Blaise Zabini to watch over you when he couldn't, and it took a concerted effort to evade them and come here. “Was getting a little tired of the entourage,” you admitted.
“A Malfoy? Tired of attention?” He tapped a finger on your forehead, featherlight. “I think you might be broken.”
“You're one to talk, Mr. Weasley. Where’s your twin? Recently severed, are we?”
He chuckled, the sound low and honey sweet. “Hufflepuff party.”
“And you didn't go, because…? You love pyromancy so much?” You held up the book, teasing him.
“Wasn't in the mood to socialize,” he said, shrugging a shoulder.
“Well, George, it seems we may have more in common than we realized.”
His eyes warmed. “Seems so.”
“Could you help me find the Potions section?” You asked, cocking a thumb over your shoulder. “Draco never gave me a tour…”
George popped up, revealing his full height and sending you back a step, and your mouth filled with a saliva. The top of your head barely skimmed his collar bone, his limbs long and lean.
He offered you his elbow. “Right this way, Ms. Malfoy.”
You rested your hand on his bicep, the burgeoning heat between you flaring brightly at even the smallest contact, and he lead you through the stacks.
He was warm and steady beside you, his cologne fresh and clean smelling, his muscles flexing slightly as he steered you. Butterflies stirred in your stomach, pleased that your instinct when you spotted him had been correct.
He was a delight. Handsome, sweet, clever. A loyal Gryffindor, the opposite of all the other pricks that threw themselves at you.
When you arrived at the clearly labeled Potions section, you turned to face him. “You’re in my Potions class, right? Are you any good?” You asked, wanting to delay his departure.
“Pretty good, yeah. Why? Need a tutor?” He quirked an eyebrow, his voice coming out a little too fast to be ready as anything but eager.
“If you've got the time.” You shrugged. “I wouldn't want to keep you.”
“Nonsense. I'm happy to be of service,” he said, winking at you, sending a fizz of desire pulsing through your blood.
George gathered the books you needed and led you to a secluded table at the back of the library, recognizing the risk of anyone seeing the two of you together, even doing something as simple as studying.
“So, what's the trouble with Potions?” He asked once you were settled in, books splayed around the table.
“My father didn't see the value in it, and it's not like we have a laboratory in the Manor,” you said, dipping your quill in your ink.
“So you were homeschooled your entire life?” George folded his arms against the table, leaning a bit closer. “Why?”
You shrugged, avoiding his gaze. “My father had his reasons.” It was a practiced answer, a safe one, and it tasted bitter on your tongue. “He thought it wasn't safe,” you added, wanting to assuage the guilty feeling.
“Not safe?” George scoffed. “Hogwarts is the safest place in the world.
“Depends on who your enemies are,” you said, finally meeting his eyes.
“And who are you enemies?” He asked, sitting back on his chair.
You brushed the soft tail of your quill over you lips, mulling over your response. “Well, George. I suppose you are.”
“That's a shame, here I thought I was just your Potions tutor.”
You snorted, caught off guard by his joking. “Should be fine, as long as we aren't friends,” you chuckled.
“Definitely not friends.” He smiled. “Now, the thing about Beezors…”
Tumblr media
George's POV
George watched you pour over your notes, brow furrowed slightly in concentration, and you did that god-forsaken fucking thing with your quill again.
Dragged the feather over your lips with the barest touch, the movement unconscious, and it made his heart seize every single fucking time.
He could hardly believe he was sitting across from you, walking through the curriculum you needed for the first Potions exam in two weeks. You'd missed a lot being homeschooled, but we're clearly incredibly bright, and you picked everything up with ease that rivaled Hermione.
He'd been fascinated by you from the moment you walked into the Great Hall, and managed to snag his eye every time you entered a room there after. You occupied his mind too, so much so he was already behind in Charms, but he wasn't even quite ready to admit that to himself yet.
You were a Malfoy, after all. It didn't matter that you were interesting, or clever, or beautiful. You were a Malfoy. End of story.
He should get up and walk away right now.
What right did you have asking him for help? You had everything. And you were smart enough to do this on your own. You didn't need him. And he shouldn't want you.
Oh, Merlin. And he didn't want you….right?
He couldn't. He barely knew you beyond your reputation and the whispers he'd gathered in the halls, but it felt like he did. Like he's known you for ages, the quiet between you comfortable despite his racing thoughts.
But no, surely not. He didn't want you. Nope.
You dragged you quill against your lips again, sighing softly, and he nearly melted to the floor like a lit candle.
Fuck. He wanted you.
“George?” You called, waving a hand in front of his face, and he jolted back to the present. “Dozing off again?” You teased, voice sweet as treacle.
“No, was just, ah, trying to remember what we covered fourth year,” he said, rubbing the back of his head and hoping you didn't catch the flush in his cheeks.
But based on the twinkle in your eye, you certainly did.
“Maybe we can cover it tomorrow?” You asked, closing your book and setting down your quill. “I'm not sure I can absorb anything else tonight—” a soft yawn punctuated your words, sweet as a lamb, and George had to look away so he didn't memorize the exact shade of your tongue.
Definitely don't meet up with her tomorrow. “Yeah, same spot?” He asked, gathering his things as well.
“It's a date.” You winked, and flitted between the stacks, disappearing from his sight.
George slumped back onto his seat, scrubbing a hand over his face.
When he showed up ten minutes early to the library the following day, he'd never felt more pathetic in his life.
All day, he told himself he wasn't going to go. That he was going to leave you hanging and end this before it got started. Whatever this was.
He was betraying his family by sitting in this chair, guilt churning and acrid in his gut. They would be so disappointed him. He could already hear his mother in his mind: you're a spineless fool.
And it was the truth. He'd lied to Fred and Ron about what he was doing, and snuck past Hermione and Harry who were studying by the entrance. He was lying to and hiding from the people he loved most, all for a Malfoy.
He was about to get up from his seat when you came breezing around the corner, a cauldron in your arms. He continued to rise but instead of fleeing, he took the cauldron from you with a chastising tsk.
“Stealing from Snape, are we, rattlesnake?” He set the cauldron on the table, turning back to you.
“I didn't steal it!” You argued.
He raised an eyebrow, an amused smirk lifting the corner of his mouth.
“I'm going to bring it back later.” You rolled your eyes and dumped your bag onto the table, potions and herbs rolling out. “How else am I supposed to learn about potions?”
He opened his mouth, then closed it again. Merlin, you were adorable. Pink cheeked from carrying everything, your hair windswept, eyes shining with that rebellious light. He was helpless, drawn to it like a moth.
“Just don't blow my eyebrows off,” he grumbled.
“No promises,” you teased back.
The two of you toiled the rest of the evening away over the cauldron, successfully making two of the four potions Snape had covered this semester.
You stood shoulder to shoulder over the bubbling green liquid, and he glanced down at you, at the victorious little grin on your face, and he felt his insides twist.
He reached to grab a bundle of herbs on your right, and you turned to grab an ingredient on his left, and your bodies bumped together in the middle, faces nearly colliding.
“S-shit, sorry,” he said, pretending he couldn't smell the expensive perfume on your skin. Like it wasn't rotting his brain from the inside out.
“Sorry for what?” You asked, leaning the rest of the way to get your ingredient, apparently completely unbothered by your chest pressed up against his, your face brushing his shoulder.
“Uh, I—”
“So tense, Georgie,” you murmured, reaching a hand up to squeeze at his flexed bicep. “I don't bite, remember?”
Every scrap of attention zeroed in on your hand touching his arm, his heart thundering in his chest. Georgie. The nickname rattled around in his empty mind. Georgie. Georgie. Georgie.
“I'll try,” he rasped, clearing his throat.
An hour later and you finished the third Potion, the sun long ago set over the horizon. It wouldn't be long before Pince came looking for stragglers, and you'd be booted from the library.
George glanced over at you, your cheek propped against your palm, lashes fluttering as your lids slid closed. Something warm bloomed in his chest watching you doze, peaceful and untroubled, trusting him enough to let your guard down so completely.
As quietly as he could, he picked up his things and yours, and discarded the potion. Carefully, he tucked the cauldron behind one of the the shelves for your next study session so you wouldn't have to lug it back and forth, vowing to take the fall if Snape caught on.
“Rattlesnake,” he cooed, nudging your shoulder. “C’mon, we gotta get out of here.”
You groaned, nose wrinkling before you blinked open your eyes at him. A sleepy smile stretched across your face, and his knees turned to jelly. He wanted to kiss you so badly it stole his breath.
“Sorry, Georgie,” you mumbled, covering your mouth when you yawned.
“All good, love,” he replied, handing you your things. Shit, he cursed himself. Love had just rolled off his tongue, easy as breathing.
But you only smiled at him, slinging your bag over your shoulder and getting to your feet. “Thanks for your help,” you said. “Do you think you'll have time to meet next week?”
Quidditch matches started next week, eating into the little bit of free time he had. But he'd figure it out.
“Could probably meet Monday after practice, if you'd like,” he said, shouldering his own bag.
“Monday would be great.” You rose up onto your toes to peck his cheek. “See you then!” You tossed over your shoulder as you walked away, leaving him a flustered mess.
He rubbed his hand over his cheek, the place your lips brushed his skin still tingling, and sighed. How could he stay away from you? Why should he? Because of your last name?
It was the Malfoy’s job to be stuck up and judgemental, not his. And you seemed to be nothing like them…
Then, something occured to him. A thought so upsetting it punched the air out of his chest and he dropped back down onto his chair.
What if this was a trick?
What if this was a way for the Malfoy's to get close to his family? To get them to let their guards down? What if you were just a beautiful Trojan Horse?
He shook his head, trying to shake the dark thoughts loose. You couldn't be, not with those bright eyes and rebellious smile. He couldn't imagine you being so cruel. But then again…you were a Malfoy.
How could he know for sure?
He left the library with his head hung low, doubts swirling in his mind like a storm, making his stomach churn, but one stood clearer than the rest. Disruptive as a strike of lightning.
Was it worth the risk?

Reader's POV
Your connection with George deepened over those few study sessions, and it seemed he was just as into you as you were him. From the knocked together knees, to his fingers brushing against yours when he passed over an ingredient or book, to his eyes lingering on you over the cauldron, the signs were plentiful.
But Monday night, he'd been different.
He was acting strange the entire study session, watching you closely, giving clipped, one or two word answers. His shoulders seemed almost heavy, burdened.
At first, you chalked it up to him being tired after practice, but instinctively, you knew it had something to do with you.
Unable to bear it any longer, you turned to him after shelving your books. “Is something wrong, George?” You asked, crossing your arms over your chest.
He froze in place, refusing to meet your eyes. Then, something seemed to give way in his expression, a loaded sigh loosing from his chest. “I'm not sure we should keep doing this,” he admitted, sounding almost pained. “Your family would have a conniption, as would mine.”
You let your arms fall to your sides. It was only a matter of time before this came up, you supposed. But, you were prepared for it. “And?” You asked, risking a step closer. “I'm not sure about you…” you placed a hand on his chest, feeling his heart race, his muscles tense under your touch. But he didn't pull away. “But I make my own decisions.”
He placed his hand over yours. “You could have anyone you want. So, why me? What's in it for you?”
You recoiled slightly, removing your hand from him and taking a step back. “You think I have some ulterior motive.” It wasn't a question, nor was it a shock. Everyone always assumed you did everything with malicious intent. You just thought maybe George saw you differently.
George's eyes softened, sensing your hurt, but he didn't back away from his claim. “I think your father has it out for my little brother and his best friends, and I won't put them in danger just because I want to kiss a girl.”
Your heart gave a jilted pang, confusion making your brows furrow. You knew he was being completely honest. He wanted to kiss you, but he was afraid of what the consequences might be. Consequences you hadn't even really considered.
George had every reason to be skeptical of you. But your only ulterior motive was getting closer to him, and maybe getting under your father's skin a little should he ever find out.
“I don't have an ulterior motive, George. Nor do I take orders from anyone, least of all my father. I have no ill will towards your family, and I'm sorry that mine has treated you all so poorly.”
He was quiet for a moment. “Swear it,” he said, holding up his pinky.
You wrapped your pinky around his. “I swear.”
His eyes searched your face and you saw the moment he decided he trusted you, eyes melting like honey. "I trust you, rattlesnake." A smirk broke through his serious expression. “Am I going to regret it?”
Relief ballooned in your chest. “In the best way,” you purred, bringing his pinky up your lips and brushing a kiss across his knuckle.
His pupils dilated, breath hitching in his chest. Then you were moving, his body pressing you backwards against the bookshelf, dropping your pinky to brace your hips with both hands.
“You're awfully confident,” he whispered in your ear, making your stomach flutter with anticipation.
You hadn't felt this excited in far too long, his touch, his voice as tempting as the finest wine.
“Are you going to find out why? Or keep prattling on?”
With a final exhale, he crashed his mouth to yours, his lips supple and insistent, your toes instantly curling in your shoes. You opened up for him and he licked into your mouth with firm strokes, deliberate and claiming. He tasted like lemon drops and black tea, and you were desperate for more of it.
Every other kiss you'd had felt lifeless and disappointing, empty and wet in the worst way. But this, the fervid caress of his searching tongue, felt like wildfire: burning, consuming, ravenous.
“George,” you gasped when his lips traveled down your neck, the tip of his nose a cold contrast to the heat of his mouth.
He nipped at your pulse, sucking the skin between his teeth to leave a mark.
“George!” You giggled, pulling on his hair to stop him.
“Y/n,” he hummed, smiling at you. His lips were puffy and slicked with spit, his eyes sparkling.
Two could play at that game.
You leaned forward, licking a long stripe from the hollow of his throat, over his Adams apple, to the underside of his chin.
“Shit.” His hands tightened on your waist, his head falling back to give you more access. You bit down, laving your tongue over his fevered skin, and his let out a low groan. “You little liar,” he gruffed, one of his hands coming up to tangle in your hair. “You do bite.”
You giggled, lapping at the light purple mark you left behind. “I'm not sorry.”
He tipped your head back and reconnected your lips, teasing and light. “You have no reason to be. Bite me all you like, rattlesnake,” he murmured between unhurried pecks.
“Careful what you ask for.” You caught his lower lip between your teeth and tugged gently, earning another groan, before kissing him a final time, soft and lingering.
Hearing the distant chime of the bell tower, you finally broke apart. Curfew. Pince would be around any second.
You brushed your nose against his. “I have to get back to the common room,” you sighed.
“’Course. Wouldn't dream of keeping you from your beauty sleep.” He brought your knuckles to his lips, kissing them lightly. “See you at the match tomorrow?”
You nodded, pulling your still tingling lower lip between your teeth. “Absolutely. I’ll be in green.”
“Ouch,” he chuckled, pretending to wince. “I'll have you in red soon enough.” He released your hand and walked backwards out of the aisle, his eyes trained on you until he was forced to turn the corner, his hand sticking out to wave a final goodbye as he disappeared.
You placed a hand over your thundering heart, a little stunned by your bodies intense reaction him.
What in Salazar's name has you gotten yourself into?

George's POV
George left the library achingly hard and shook to his core, the blood that hadn't traveled south roaring in his ears.
That was the singularly most earth-shattering kiss of his life. And it was with the absolute last person he should be kissing.
George wasn't the type to get physical so quickly after meeting someone, but you were irresistible. And seemed to want him as badly as he wanted you, a fact he struggled to get his head around.
And even though he knew he should, he couldn't bring himself to regret a second of it. In fact, he was already anxiously awaiting the match tomorrow, debating whether or not he could squeeze in some extra practice at dawn while he walked back to his dorm.
As soon as he opened the door, he found his brother, Ron, Harry, Seamus, and Neville sitting up in their beds, and stopped short.
“Hey George!” Harry called, waving.
“What’s the matter with you?” Fred asked, clocking his trepidation immediately.
George had to fight to urge to clap a hand over the mark you’d left on his neck. Would they smell your perfume on his skin?
“Nothing? Why?” He asked, heading towards his trunk.
Fred eyed him suspiciously. “Where have you been?”
“Library,” George answered, a little too quick.
Fred studied him a moment longer, then snapped his fingers, a huge grin on his face. “You were with a girl!”
The rest of the boys oooooh’d, and George felt his cheeks heat.
“Yeah, right. You know me, drowning in babes,” he argued, throwing a towel and his pajamas over his shoulder. “I'm going to take a shower.”
“Ah, so just a snog, then?” Seamus teased.
George flipped them off and left for the showers, praying they forget about it by the time he got back.

Reader's POV
“Where the fuck have you been?” Draco snapped, rounding on you as soon as you stepped back into the Slytherin common room.
“Places,” you reply, kissing his cheek before strolling by.
He caught your wrist, tugging you back to him. “Y/n…”
“Draco…” You rolled your eyes. “I was in the library, relax.” You pull away from him and walk towards the girls dormitory, Draco on your heels.
“You’ve been spending a lot of time there,” he accused, an edge of suspicion in his voice. “I would have gone with you, or Blaise or Pansy—”
“I wanted to go alone,” you snapped, stopping so suddenly he bumped into you. A hush fell over the common room. “I don't need a fucking body guard, Draco. You need to back off.”
Draco's nostrils flared, his eyes narrowing. “Stop it,” he hissed. “We can talk about this in private.”
“Why? Is your ‘bad guy' reputation so fragile?”
His jaw flexed, and you could tell your words stung, hurt flickering across his eyes.
You sighed. “D, I can take care of myself,” you murmured.
“But if something happened to you…” his voice softened, trailing off.
“Let me have this,” you asked, taking his hand in both of yours. “Please. I've never had any freedom.”
He squeezed your hands. “I know, I know. Just…let me know where you are, at least? Don't just keep disappearing—what is that?” His eyes hardened, lowering to your neck.
You fought to hold your composure. “What? Oh, the burn? I bumped it with my curling iron this afternoon.” You grazed your fingers over the mark George had left, a flurry of butterflies kicking up in your stomach.
Draco dropped your hand, and guilt soured your fuzzy feelings.
“Who is it?” He growled.
“Draco—”
“You think I can't tell when you're lying?” He grabbed you and lead you into a quieter part of the common room, shadowed from onlookers. “Who was it, y/n?”
You glared daggers at him, squaring your shoulders. “I suggest you mind your own business, or we will have a fucking problem. I will not hesitate to dismantle every brick of this bullshit castle you've built. Clear?”
His jaw ticked, eyes blazing. “This is not a fucking game,” he said after a tense moment of silence.
“Just trust me, okay? I’m fine. We’re fine. Not everything is life and death.”
“Y/n, you aren't listening—”
“No, you aren't listening. We're safe here. And I have my brother to protect me from anything scary, yeah?” You reached up to pinch his cheek, and he scowled, swatting your hand away.
“I can't protect you if I don't know where you are,” he argued.
You sighed. “I'll try and tell you from now on, okay? But you can't be with me 24/7. You need to have a little faith in me.”
“It's not you that I doubt,” he grumbled, but you could tell that you'd won this round.
“Goodnight, Draco. And don't stay up too late, you've got a game tomorrow.” You poked him hard in the chest, and he rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, yeah. Goodnight, sister.” He waved you off and you ascended the stairs to the girls dorm, leaving him to his friends, and you to toss and turn in your bed, dreaming of George.

Steve ends up boding with Nancy that first night they sleep together and Barb disappears. He's so in love with her and they're having sex for the first time and he's never slept with someone he loved before and he ends up sinking his teeth into her mating glad without even realizing it.
Nancy is not happy about it. She likes Steve a lot but she promised herself that she would never be someone who mates before they graduate high school and become just like her parents. She wants to chase her dreams and make it as a female Alpha in journalism, but she also feels honor bound to Steve. She ends up biting him back to spare him the hurt of an unfulfilled bond.
Her parents are a little concerned they're both so young but they ultimately approve and Steve's parents are just happy to know he won't continue to be a burden after he turns 18 and graduates and it will legally be his Alpha's job to take care of him. With no access to one of the fancy bond removal specialists in New York or Chicago, Nancy resigns herself to the bond and taking Steve with her into her future.
Steve, on the other hand, is ecstatic. He loves his Alpha and can't wait for them to move out and start a family of their own. Nancy makes sure to treat him gently, even if sometimes it feels like she sees him as a stereotypical airheaded Omega. Even when he can feel the little pull of tension in their bond.
He's happy right up until it becomes clear that Nancy would rather be with Beta Johnathan Byers than him. He can feel it, see it, but refuses to accept it. When she comes to him after their first encounter with the Demagorgan and asks if he would be open to adding a beta to their bond, he's so relieved that she isn't just leaving him to say anything but yes, even if it's not really what he wants.
Again, they are both very sweet to him but it feels more like he's their pet than their partner. They hold him and cuddle him but they don't talk to him about anything of substance or make him feel important. He feels like a third wheel in his own relationship. But he has no one else to turn to with his old friends and parents out of the picture.
By the time the events of season two start to play out everyone in school has noticed that Nancy spends more time with Johnathan in the dark room than with Steve. Rumors start flying around about Nancy and Johnathan trying to push him out of the bond and Steve's social position falls even further. He's trying to be a good Omega, but it feels like every time he reaches out he's turned away.
That night at Tina's party Nancy and Steve fight. They were all three supposed to come together but Johnathan ended up going with Will instead. Nancy tried to insist that none of them go, but Steve insisted that they could have fun together and meet up with Johnathan afterward.
Nancy ends up drinking way too much and lays into Steve when he tries to help her. She goes on about them killing Barb and pretending nothing happened as well as how she never wanted to bond with Steve in the first place. Goes on about how he's ruining her life.
Steve goes near catatonic after that, rejection sickness setting in quickly. He gets in his car and drives, finds himself parked outside the Wheeler house where he spends most of his nights. He can't go back to his parents' house, doesn't have anywhere else to go, so he just curls up in the back seat of his car and passes out.
That's how Dustin finds him the next day. Nancy clearly didn't look for him, which hurts, but the smell of puppy distress coming off of Dustin is enough to pull him out of his distress long enough to help. His Alpha may not love him, but Steve loves kids and won't let anything happen to one under his watch.
After El closes the gate, it's like the three of them (John, Nancy, and Steve) all agree to pretend none of it happened. Nancy doesn't apologize, John doesn't explain, and Steve doesn't ask, but he also doesn't forget. His new pack bond with the kids is enough to keep him stable, but he knows now that his Alpha doesn't want him and spends almost every moment with them disassociating. They must feel it through their links (Steve to Nancy, Nancy to John) but they chose not to acknowledge it. They let Steve float because it's easier for them to pretend this thing between them isn't broken.
When summer hits Steve starts applying for jobs just to get out of the house. The three of them moved into a small apartment, a gift from Ted Wheeler, during Spring Break and Steve needs an excuse to get out of there. He hasn't even bothered to make a nest in their new bed. He doesn't think Nancy has even noticed, but John gives him pitying looks that he blatantly ignores.
With Scoops comes Robin. Steve instantly likes her, even if she bullies him relentlessly. At least she sees him. At least she can look him in the eye and tell him she thinks Nikes are lame and commiserate about the terrible sailor music on blast 24/7.
When they get sucked into Russian plots and drugged within an inch of their lives, they spill their guts both figuratively and literally. She tells him about being an Alpha who only likes other female Alphas and Betas and he tells her all about his failed bond. Tells her how trapped he feels.
When all is said and done, Ronin refuses to let him go back to Nancy and Johnathan. She bundles him up in one of those dumb tinfoil blankets the paramedics give them and bares her teeth at anyone who comes too close. She takes him home with her and when Nancy comes asking questions like she actually cares what happens to Steve she tells her to fuck off, and when that doesn't work she grabs her dad to force her off the property.
Once Steve recovers physically from the torture, Robin tells her she knows someone who might be able to help. Someone who could break the bond.
It's illegal in the state of Indiana to break a bond, but Eddie Munson isn't exactly a God-fearing, law-abiding Alpha.
------
Aaaaaaand that's where I'll leave it. Ran out of steam a little but rest assured that Steve and Eddie will fall deeply in love almost immediately and have a million babies after Eddie helps Steve get rid of his bond.
Sorry this is so Nancy negative. I love her so much but with Omegaverse dynamics she always turns so evil. To be fair, she is very young and was trying to do the right thing, at first. I could never hate you Nancy Wheeler!
i will give you one million dollars for a full fic of this😵‍💫

The thing that has me absolutely furious about the fires in El Bolsón and other surrounding areas, besides the loss, is the people who, for whatever reason (speculations are running wild on the possible reasons as can be expected), insist on making the situation worse:
-> A man was caught in the forest with a bottle full of some sort of combustible liquid:
"The man was carrying a bottle of combustible liquid. According to the report, his intention “was to start a fire, but he was intercepted by a man and a woman, who observed him acting suspiciously, alone and far from the areas of the fire.”
The man left the area with those who found him, in the same van. On the way, "they noticed that he had dropped a plastic bottle with a blue-green liquid, so they reported what had happened." Moments later, police officers arrived at the sector known as Wharton where they proceeded to arrest him."
And he was not the only one, according to the news, others were seen acting suspiciously in the forest but the police was unable to catch them so they could be properly investigated.
-> Then, a video was shared of some unknown group of people riding horses right across the airstrip while the hydrant plane was maneuvering:
-> It was already proven that one of the fires was premeditated, and started with Molotov cocktails:
"Meanwhile, it was proven that the arson attack on the Amancay Ranch in mid-January was premeditated. The document was drawn up after the expert reports carried out at the Amancay cattle farm, located on Provincial Route 71, a few kilometers from the town. An investigator of fires and explosives together with the Scientific Police of Chubut examined the site and confirmed that it was intentionally started by using accelerants in glass containers – Molotov cocktails – to achieve “greater expansion and propagation of the fire”.
The news site speculates that it was Mapuches, others say that it was rich landowners wanting to expand or whatever else.
It certainly doesn't help any that it's usually windy during the summer months in the south, and they have had days with winds with speeds between 40 and 60 km/h (24-37 mph) and gusts that can exceed 95 km/h (59 mph).
I was there just last year, on my vacation, and I can't understand how someone would intentionally start a fire here or actively hinder the efforts to put them out.
Look at this place:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
My shitty phone camera doesn't do the place justice, it's absolutely breathtaking.
And yet now:
In mildly good news, it rained today, and the people from there were so happy that it finally rained that they started celebrating :
instagram
it's insane how the patagonian fires are more devastating than the ones in california and nobody gives a shit

Hi! Thank you so much for your beautiful work!! I hope it’s okay to make a silly little request
So I’m in my 20s (late 20s I might add) but I’ve never ever even kissed anyone yet and I kinda really want to so… Would you consider writing modern au!Viktor with a virgin!f!reader? Something about a first kiss or maybe having sex for the first time or first relationship..? Anything first in general 👉👈
Anon, I am beating my chest that it took so long and hope that you will get a notification that it is published (I sometimes don't when I ask anon questions). I was a late bloomer myself and it has some massive advantages. Though I hope you get to kiss someone nice soon!

Your eyes sweep over Jayce’s tongue on Mel’s before you catch yourself staring. And even that doesn’t stop you. You analyse the movement of their hands, the way Jayce’s hips press into Mel’s, memorising all the smacking sounds they try to muffle into gentle giggles, hoping that you and Viktor are doing a decent job of not looking. When in reality, it’s the exact opposite.
It always goes the same way: the clack of heels echoing through the corridor outside the lab already has Jayce perking up. He grunts, clears his throat, and gets up slowly to avoid raised eyebrows and Viktor stating the obvious, like, “I guess this means you’re off for the day?”
Then, Jayce gives an apologetic smile and strolls toward the door, opening it before Mel can even knock. He exchanges a shy, stupid, cheek-reddened “Hi” for her sultry, thick “Hi yourself.” Their greetings die somewhere in their mouths when their lips meet in a first hello kiss. That one doesn’t last very long—soon, it shifts into an I missed you kiss. That lingers before melting into an I want you kiss or an I’d rather eat you than dinner kiss. And those are your favourites.
Even when you try very hard not to imagine what kind of kiss might follow that, you can’t help yourself. You end up blushed and flustered, your mind spinning with curiosity.
So you stare—impolitely, some might say—but for you, it’s research. You study and memorise, committing their courtship to memory so you can replay the scene later, your fingers wandering over your own lips as you imagine what it would be like. To have someone’s lips on yours, someone’s tongue in your mouth. It doesn’t sound all that appealing or hygienic, but it looks fantastic. It makes you feel a very much welcomed weirdness in your chest and belly, and having nothing else to supplement those feelings with, you just outright stare.
“It’s quite rude, if you ask me,” Viktor’s voice cuts through your thoughts just as Mel lets out a small, startled sound at Jayce’s hand cradling the back of her neck.
“Uh, I know. They should take it somewhere else, really,” you whisper back, but your tone is far from condemning. You say it absentmindedly, your eyes still glued to their mouths, chin propped on your hand, your scribbling abandoned the moment Jayce stood up.
“I meant your intense staring. But yes, such activities should be performed outside of work areas,” Viktor mumbles, not looking up from his notes.
Your blush deepens into an intense red hue as you finally look away and cover your face with your hand.
“Oh, I um… I didn’t mean to, it’s just—”
“All right, we’re off! Don’t work too hard while I’m gone!” Jayce’s beaming laughter cuts you off. Before you or Viktor can reply with a snarky comment, he sweeps Mel by the waist, and they disappear into the hallway. The sound of Mel’s giggle and the uneven click of her heels on the stone floors make you wonder if Jayce is kissing her neck or pressing her against a wall.
“It’s just?” Viktor insists, finally looking at you, his face forming an unamused expression.
“Nothing. It’s just nothing,” you respond quickly, picking up your pen with a shaky hand. You force yourself back to scribbling, even though your handwriting comes out ragged, suffering from both the excitement and the fear of Viktor’s prying eyes. But you do it anyway, desperate for any kind of shield.
“It does not look like nothing,” Viktor pushes, rotating in his chair to face you fully. You deepen your hunch, almost pressing your nose into the paper. How mortifying.
“I understand the concept of unrequited attraction, but you should really do yourself a favour and quit this self-flagellating practice of ogling every time Mel picks him up. It doesn’t lead to anything beneficial and impacts your focus,” Viktor drones, his nasal tone close to scolding.
You feel so scrutinised that you don’t even bother to correct his misunderstanding of your habit. You just sigh and continue your fake note taking.
“Trust me, I would know,” Viktor adds.
That catches your attention. How would he know anything about what you’re going through?
“Whatever do you mean by that?” you ask, keeping your face turned toward your notes, though your eyes wander to glance at him. He looks… unhappy? Mildly irritated? Annoyed at your lack of shame and focus?
“I am merely stating that lusting after someone out of reach is, at best, futile and, at worst, a path to ruin. For your own good, I would refrain from such practices,” Viktor says quietly.
You blink a few times as the words settle in your mind. He thinks I’m in love with Jayce? Lusting after him? It’s almost funny when you think that what you’ve been doing is in fact, just lusting.
“I can assure you, I am not attracted to Jayce. Or Mel, for that matter. I just—”
“Oh?” Viktor’s head snaps up so fast it surprises even him. He internally scolds himself for the involuntary reaction, but the undeniable punch of hope makes him lose control of his body for a moment. His pupils are wide, his brows lifted all the way to his forehead. “You’re not?”
“Uh, no,” you sigh, finally turning to face him properly. Your head dips as embarrassment weighs you down, but maybe admitting it will make it easier to carry. “I’m just… collecting research. For whenever I’ll have the opportunity. If ever. I mean, it’s not like I’ve ever—”
“What?” Viktor’s voice comes out too sharp. Shit. He scowls at himself—internally, of course—for how poorly he masked his shock. Way to be sensitive.
You wince, sinking deeper into yourself.
“Oh. Forgive me. I didn’t mean to… offend you,” he says carefully, trying not to sound too excited. His hand hovers over your knee while he calculates whether it would be proper to comfort you with a gentle touch. If you would like that. If you would like him to touch you.
But before he can decide, you turn back to your side of the desk, avoiding his gaze. “I’m not that easy to offend. It’s just not something I’m comfortable with. I’m a bit… too old for that, you know.”
And as if having a mild upper hand in this situation pumps Viktor with extra courage, he twists your chair back and rolls it close to his, until the sides of your thighs touch. “I didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable, then. I actually mean for the opposite of that,” he breathes and allows himself to glance over your lips, briefly. But you notice.
“Viktor?” you whisper, feeling an invisible force pulling you closer to his face. His arm extends over your legs, gripping the edge of your seat, and you feel the mild heat radiating off his body. You can smell his scent lingering in the space between you as you indulge in small glances at his eyes and lips.
“If you allow me, I could provide you with… some hands-on experience. Unless, of course, I am not—”
“Yes,” you answer quickly, and Viktor exhales into a relieved smile. He mumbles an “okay,” as if bracing himself, and closes the little distance left between you. His mouth presses against yours almost innocently as he takes your upper lip between his. His lips are soft and warm. It’s a long, lingering peck that has your eyes fluttering shut and a pool of heat blooming in your belly. You find yourself leaning into the kiss, your hips on the edge of the chair, to the point that your chests almost press against each other.
When he disconnects from you, it’s only to breathe against your mouth, “Is this alright?”
“Yes,” you say shakily, your lips brushing his. You open your eyes only to see a pretty pink blush splattered across his cheeks and ears. A smile tugs at the corner of his mouth when he asks, “Would you like me to continue?”
“Please, continue,” you exhale, and something glints in Viktor’s eyes. Emboldened by your enthusiasm, he slides the hand gripping the stool to the back of your seat, pulling you closer until you can almost feel the flutter of his heart against yours as your chests meet. His other hand cradles the back of your neck, and oh, it’s the same gesture Jayce granted Mel that you’ve longed for so dearly, and you feel your skin prickling under Viktor’s touch.
His mouth is back on yours, this time the press is firmer, as he parts your lips with his tongue and—oh. Just oh, as your eyebrows knit together and the warmest of feelings floods your chest, making your hands jolt out to fist his vest, and you sigh the sweetest of sounds into his mouth. And he doesn’t stop there—the hand from the chair slides up your side, rests on your ribcage, fingers digging in when he—oh—also makes a sound. The hottest of sounds, a honey-dripping moan that makes you bite his lower lip, craving to eat him up with a long spoon.
And when he loses himself a bit—grunts and sighs into you, his hands wandering to rest at the base of your spine and cradle your cheek in a firm grip—you don’t even know how it happens, but you slide your hips to straddle his and press yourself down on him. To your delight, he has many more of those pretty sounds, some even forming something close to your name, making you melt into his arms.
When he pulls away, it’s only for an inch. “Oh, my,” Viktor mutters, rubbing his face against yours and kissing your neck. You like that too, but you already miss his hot tongue in your mouth. “A natural talent, I see,” he chuckles, and you blush even more at the thought of what he would say if he knew how much practice you’ve done on the crook of your fist alone in your room.
He looks up at you, all flustered and pretty, swiping his thumb across your glistening lip. He doesn’t know what’s come over him when he says, “If you wish to explore this further, I can offer my… expertise.” What he wants to say is that he’s been thinking about this too many times to count, leaving him flustered and pretty countless times before, but he doesn’t want to scare you away. So he just keeps looking at you expectantly, willing his mouth to shut.
“I would like that,” you mutter shyly, noticing how Viktor’s chest sags with relief. To think that he was there, willing and within your reach all this time makes you feel silly for all those times you stared at Jayce and Mel longingly. And you’re convinced you’ll continue to watch them—not with longing, but with anticipation for when they finally stroll off to their date, so you can sink your lips onto Viktor’s.

“I hate him,” you seethe, your fists balled up, crumpling your rejected proposal. “God, I hate him.”
Your coworker, Joshua Hong, looks up from his cubicle with raised eyebrows. “Who?”
You breathe in deeply, willing your rage to dissipate at the sight of his confusion. Poor Joshua doesn’t deserve your anger. “No one,” you say, clenching your jaw.
Open-mouthed, Joshua blinks rapidly, eyes flitting over to glance at the office you had just walked out of. The door to the room is marked with a name plate that has 최승철 [Choi Seungcheol] in bold, gold letters.
“I’m fine,” you insist, hands uncrumpling the document you had just attacked.
“Uh, okay?” he says with a healthy dose of doubt, elongating the “o” in “okay.”
“I just—” you begin, then immediately shut your mouth. “Ugh, forget it.”
It’s one thing to crumple a proposal up, and another thing to start bad-mouthing your boss out in the open. You throw the tattered outline onto your desk, then plop yourself into your chair. You rub your temples, and then mutter under your breath, “How did I get here?”
“Good question,” Joshua laughs. “Company synergy?”
You groan, “Don’t ever say that word again in my presence.”
“Mmh,” he says, walking over to your cubicle. “You won’t have to worry about my presence in a few months.”
“Don’t remind me,” you sigh, dropping your head in your hands.
Joshua would be leaving the Seoul branch and transferring to the New York branch in a few weeks.
Curse your company for its commitment to “workplace synergy,” swapping out a handful of employees across all departments in its international branches every few years. If it hadn’t been for this horrible program, you wouldn’t be here right now.
You want to rip out your own hair, at this point.
How did it even get to this? You shut your eyes, thinking back to simpler times.
When you first got a job offer at the New York branch of your dream company, your initial reaction was elation. Your second? Doubt. Leaving Seoul was almost unthinkable, not to mention the fact that you’d be leaving your boyfriend behind, too.
For the first few days after hearing back from the recruiter, you knew you’d accept, but kept the news to yourself. You’d heard of so many horror stories about long-distance dating, and after a long period of consideration, you wondered what the point was.
You knew your boyfriend—really knew him. You knew he’d make sacrifices for you at the expense of himself, and it was impossible for you to accept bogging him down with a 14 hour time difference. He’d stay up waiting for your calls, instead of getting much needed rest. He’d worry about you all the time, checking the weather in Manhattan instead of Seoul and calling you constantly instead of his family and friends. He’d wait on you for as long as you needed, in an almost obsessive way, thinking it could make up the difference in distance. But he deserved someone who could love him in person, all of the time.
It’d be better for Seungcheol if you just let him go, freeing him to focus on what mattered more to him. Like work.
He loved you too much to break things off with you himself, so it was better that you did it. For his own good.
That’s what you told him, at least.
────୨ৎ──── Four Years Ago
“Cheol,” you said, teary-eyed. “Cheol, look at me.”
Seungcheol stared blankly at the ground, face frozen.
“Please?” your voice cracked.
“Who are you to tell me what I can and can’t handle?” he suddenly choked out, eyes flashing with hurt. His hands clenched, like he was holding himself back from saying more.
You swallowed thickly, reaching for his arm. “Cheol, I—”
“Don’t call me that,” he said, snatching his hand away from you.
────୨ৎ──── Present
But you had swallowed the real reasons for the breakup.
Because, deep down, you had always suspected otherwise. Somehow, everything had just become so complicated. Loving Seungcheol—which had once been something as easy as breathing—had become a dull pain in your chest, clouding your every thought with insecurities.
Even from the start of the relationship, you’d loved him more, anyway. Back then, you didn’t mind it because you loved him so much, and he was always so, so sweet to you. But around the time of the job offer, paranoia had reared its ugly head, kicking your uncertain thoughts into overdrive.
It was obvious that he didn’t really love you anymore. While you were job seeking, he was distracted. Always checking his phone, not really listening to what you had to say. He made time for you, but he didn’t necessarily make you feel like he loved you as deeply as you did him—it didn’t feel like he was the same guy that you started dating.
Something about his actions just felt like he did them to claim that he loved you, rather than because he actually loved you. His actions were laced with a kind of surface level, superficial quality.
He’d take you out to a fancy dinner, open the door for you, pay for the meal, drive you home—all the gentlemanly things he did when you started dating, too. But on the car ride there and back, and while sitting down eating together, he wouldn’t remember the things you had said about the little things happening in your life—a major change, when compared to the start of your relationship.
And sure, he didn’t have an obligation to remember your next door neighbor's name. But shouldn’t he remember your favorite kind of pie, or your closest cousin’s name? Shouldn’t he just know not to check his phone every time it pings with a new email, or leave you to eat your stupid expensive pasta alone as he takes a call outside?
It was almost like Seungcheol had fallen out of love with you, but was staying with you out of some kind of obligation to continue what he had started? That was your only explanation for why he’d spend time with you, but wouldn’t pay close attention to the things you said. Every Thursday was movie night, and in hopes of trying to keep him away from work, you let him choose the movie every time. But what use was that, when he spent more time looking at his phone than the TV—and more importantly, you, for that matter?
You’d been dating a ghost of a man. While you loved him, he tolerated you.
If the two of you stayed together when you went abroad, he’d probably double down on texts, but he wouldn’t really remember anything you’d said if you mentioned details about them in calls.
You didn’t bring any of these fears up to him, because you knew that he would continue to deny it. In fact, you’d imagined it in your head so much that you could see it when closing your eyes to sleep. If you confronted him, he’d deny that he didn’t love you anymore. But he’d be staring at the ground instead of looking at you. He wouldn’t admit that he was only with you because he enjoyed the consistency of your affection, and because he somewhat pitied you—and most importantly to him, because he wanted to prove to himself that he chose correctly when he started dating you.
The pain of watching the love of your life push down his repulsion just to be with you was decidedly more horrifying than the pain of breaking up with him altogether.
Right before breaking up with him, it had occurred to you that Seungcheol might not have ever loved you in the first place, and that just hammered in the idea that you were making the right decision. He’d get over the breakup fast. He’d probably be thankful for it in a few years, even. If you saw him again, you’d both probably laugh, and in his head, he’d realize that he was grateful that you ended things so that he could focus on his real love, his career.
If you were honest with yourself, you would admit that there was a bit of selfishness driving the breakup, as well. There was no way you could handle Seungcheol sacrificing things for you—if he lost sleep over you, if he worried about you, if he was distracted by you—because you knew he wouldn’t be doing it for love.
Because he only ever cared out of a superficial need to prove to himself that he made the right decision in asking you out all those years ago. Not because he really loved you.
Yes, he probably never loved you, and he would never know the real reason why you ended things.
────୨ৎ──── Four Years Ago
“You give up so easily,” he spat out. “Was I nothing to you?”
Tears were running down your face. “Don’t. Don’t make this harder than it needs to be.”
Seungcheol laughed, then buried his head in his hands. “God, to think I almost—”
He stopped, jaw tightening, then shook his head like he couldn’t believe it.
────୨ৎ──── Present
A hand comes down sharply on your desk, jolting you awake.
“Sleeping while on duty?”
Wide-eyed, with tear-stained cheeks, you look up to face your ex-boyfriend. “부장님! [Department Head!]”
Upon seeing your red-rimmed eyes, Seungcheol falters.
Swiping at your under eyes quickly, you bow your head to him slightly. “I’m sorry, it won’t happen again.”
He swallows roughly, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. He opens his mouth, like he’s about to ask you why you were crying, and your heart drops.
You will crumble if you hear the tone of voice he had used when you broke up with him.
“Excuse me,” you blurt with choked words.
You don’t dare to look at his eyes. Instead, you get up from your seat, then immediately flee to the bathroom.
────୨ৎ──── Four Years Ago
“You can focus on work, now,” you squeaked out.
Seungcheol scoffed again, a cruel sound of disbelief. “What makes you think I give a damn about work right now?”
“Don’t you? Always?” you sniffled.
His eyes flashed with something you couldn’t quite describe. He seemed angry, but not just at you. At himself, too—his hands were balled into fists at his sides, fingernails digging sharply into his palms. His throat bobbed, and you could see the intense restraint he was forcing on himself. He opened his mouth with a sharp breath, then closed it again, as if he wanted to say something but stopped himself.

The small classroom was filled with laughter, crayons, and the chaotic energy only a group of five-year-olds could create. The walls were covered in colorful drawings, some resembling actual objects and others looking more like abstract masterpieces only a parent could pretend to understand.
At the front of the room stood y/n, the most beloved teacher in the entire kindergarten. She had a natural warmth about her, making every child feel special. She was also quick-witted and funny, always finding a way to make the most mundane things exciting. Her students adored her.
And at the center of it all, sitting on one of the tiny chairs like he was some kind of prince, was Harry Potter.
Harry was an interesting child—smart, playful, and with a sass level that could rival a teenager. He had a mop of messy black hair that never seemed to stay put, big green eyes that sparkled with mischief, and a personality far too charming for a five-year-old.
He had been extra sassy today, insisting he was "way too advanced" for their ABC exercises and that "Uncle Moony reads him much harder books." You had learned by now to just nod along when Harry said bizarre things like that.
You had taken a particular liking to him. Not that you played favorites (at least, not openly), but something about Harry made you want to protect him even more than the other kids. Maybe it was the fact that he was being raised by a single dad, or maybe it was the way he always looked at you with that cheeky little grin whenever he was about to say something absurd.
Right now, that cheeky grin was in full force.
"Miss y/l/n," Harry said, swinging his legs under the table as he colored.
"Yes, love?" you replied, crouching down to his level.
He leaned in as if he was about to share the most confidential secret of his life. "My dad thinks you're pretty."
You blinked.
Oh.
Oh!
You opened your mouth to respond, but Harry, apparently very pleased with himself, continued. "He says you're too young to have this many kids"
Well, you definitely held back the laughter, but as you didn't have an answer to that, you just changed subjects. You leaned over to glance at Harry’s drawing. It was a messy but clearly heartfelt attempt at a stick figure version of himself and his dad, complete with what looked like… a broomstick?
“That’s a great drawing, Harry!” you praised, ruffling his hair. “Is that you and your dad?”
Harry nodded, proudly holding up his masterpiece. “Yeah! That’s me, and that’s Daddy, and he’s flying really fast on his broom because he’s the best at Quidditch!”
Let's say Harry Potter was a really imaginative kid. He would always say some really funny stories about witches and sometimes, he would full on create new words. Like he was just doing now. You found it cute, but little did you know that it was actually all true.
You grinned. “I bet he is.”
Harry’s little legs swung as he beamed. “Yeah! And he says he used to be the best Seeker at Hogwarts! I wanna be like him when I grow up!”
“That’s a great dream,” you said, genuinely warmed by how much Harry admired his father.
James was tall, lean, and had the same messy hair as his son. He was dressed casually, but there was something effortlessly charming about him. And then there were his eyes—warm, hazel, and currently widening in horror as he realized what his son was in the middle of saying.
"And my dad also said—oh, hey, Dad!" Harry greeted, as if he hadn’t just delivered a verbal nuke seconds before.
James, who had clearly heard enough, looked like he wanted the earth to swallow him whole. "Harry," he started, his voice a little strained, "what exactly have you been telling Miss y/l/n?"
Harry, completely unfazed, gestured at his teacher. "I was just telling her how you think she's pretty."
You had to bite the inside of your cheek to keep from laughing. You found it cute how a grown man was becoming all flustered right now.
“I mean—” James rubbed the back of his neck. “I might have said something along the lines of you being… you know… a good teacher.”
Harry frowned. “No, you didn’t.”
James glared at his son. A warning look. A look that screamed drop it, drop it now, child.
Harry, of course, did not drop it.
James let out an awkward, nervous laugh, running a hand through his already messy hair. "Yeah, um, I don't know where he got that from—"
"You said it last night," Harry reminded him. "When you were talking to Uncle Pads and you said—"
"Okay, that's enough, kiddo!" James cut in quickly, picking up Harry like he was a sack of potatoes. His face was an interesting shade of pink now. "Time to go, say goodbye to your teacher!"
Harry, enjoying this far too much, gave you a knowing look before waving. "Bye, Miss! See you tomorrow! Oh, and it's okay! My dad only likes you a little bit."
James groaned. "Oh, for Merlin's sake—"
You, to your credit, simply gave James a bright, amused smile. "It’s fine. Kids say the funniest things."
James, still trying to compose himself, let out a breath. "Yeah. They do."
You tilted your head, studying him for a second. "Though, I have to say, you do have a very smart kid. And very honest."
James gave you a sheepish smile. "Yeah… unfortunately, he gets that from his mother."
There was a flicker of something in his eyes—something sad, something that made you instinctively soften your tone. "She must've been wonderful."
James nodded. "Yeah. She really was."
For a moment, there was a comfortable silence between them. Then, because James couldn't handle any more embarrassment today, he awkwardly cleared his throat. "Right. Well. We'll be going now. Before Harry decides to share my entire life story."
You grinned. "That’s probably a good idea. Have a good evening, Harry. James."
James hesitated for half a second, then nodded. "You too."
As he walked out, still carrying a smug-looking Harry, you couldn't help but shake your head, laughing quietly to yourself.
James Potter, huh?
This was going to be interesting.
As soon as they were outside, James crouched down and gave Harry a look of pure exasperation. “Alright, Prongslet. Why?”
Harry just grinned up at him, utterly unapologetic. “I like Miss y/n. You like Miss y/n. Uncle Padfoot said you should talk to her more. I was helping.”
James dropped his head in his hands. “You and Sirius are banned from talking to each other ever again.”
The aftermath
James Potter was dying.
Not literally—he had survived multiple Quidditch accidents, a war, and Voldemort himself—but right now, standing outside of Harry’s kindergarten classroom, he was convinced that actual death would be less painful than the secondhand embarrassment he had just experienced.
His five-year-old son, his sweet, traitorous, utterly clueless son, had just casually exposed his very real, very secret crush on Miss y/n.
He was never showing his face in that classroom again.
…Okay, that was a lie.
He’d be back tomorrow.
And the next day.
And the day after that.
Because Harry loved school, and James definitely wasn’t going to pull him out just because he got caught being a pathetic twenty-five-year-old with a schoolboy crush on his kid’s teacher.
But, Merlin’s beard, how was he supposed to look you in the eyes again?
But instead, he found himself standing there like an idiot, because—screw it—he wasn’t actually opposed to talking to you.
At first, James had been mortified, barely able to meet your eyes when he picked up his son. But as the days went by, he found himself lingering a little longer each time. It started small—asking how Harry was doing, if he was behaving (spoiler: he wasn’t), and if he was making friends.
But then your conversations stretched longer.
“So, uh,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck, “I actually wanted to talk to you about Harry.”
You raised an eyebrow. “Oh?”
James nodded, trying to look serious. “Yeah. His, uh… behavior.”
You blinked, looking at Harry, who was currently playing with another student and doing absolutely nothing wrong.
“…His behavior?” you echoed.
James cleared his throat. “Yes. It’s, uh, very concerning.”
You folded your arms, clearly humoring him. “What exactly is concerning about it?”
James hesitated. “Well. You know. The talking thing.”
You bit your lip, trying not to laugh. “The talking thing?”
James sighed, knowing you weren’t buying it. “Yeah. You know. The way he just… talks. No filter. Says things. About me.”
You did laugh then, shaking your head. “James, you do realize that’s completely normal for his age, right?”
James groaned. “I was hoping you’d say there was a cure.”
You grinned. “Afraid not.”
James huffed, but there was a smile playing at his lips now. “Brilliant. Well, at least tell me—how do I make sure he doesn’t casually ruin my life every time he opens his mouth?”
You shrugged. “Sorry, but I think you’re doomed.”
James sighed dramatically. “That’s what I thought.” He glanced at Harry again, who was still happily playing, then looked back at you. “Well, I guess I should be glad he didn’t say anything too bad.”
You smirked. “Oh, no, just that you think I’m really pretty and smile a lot when you talk about me.”
James groaned. “Merlin’s sake, why would you repeat it?”
You laughed. “Because it’s funny.”
James shot her a look. “For you, maybe.”
You tilted your head, grinning. “Oh, come on, James. It’s not that bad.”
He raised an eyebrow. “You do realize that I’m going to be forced to relocate and change my name now, right?”
You snorted. “Is that so?”
“Yes,” James deadpanned. “I’ll be John Smith from now on. You’ve never met me before in your life.”
You shook your head, still laughing. “Well, John Smith, if it makes you feel any better…” you hesitated for a second, then shrugged, your voice softer. “I don’t mind what Harry said.”
James froze.
Your eyes were warm, teasing but also… something else.
And suddenly, James realized—maybe this wasn’t as embarrassing as he thought.
Maybe Harry had just given him the best excuse in the world to talk to the woman he’d been secretly crushing on.
And maybe—just maybe—he was okay with that.
For the first time that day, James grinned.
“Well then,” he said. “In that case, I think I can survive the humiliation.”
You chuckled. “Glad to hear it.”
From that day forward, James’s routine of picking Harry up from school became a little different.
At first, he told himself he was just being polite—nothing wrong with staying an extra minute or two to talk to Harry’s teacher, right? Totally normal. Every parent did that.
Except every time, those one or two minutes stretched longer.
And longer.
Until one day, he realized he was actively looking forward to pick-up time—not just to see Harry, but because he’d get to talk to you.
Getting to know each other
James had fully intended to keep his distance after the Incident—as he now called it in his head. He had absolutely not planned to linger when picking up Harry, nor did he intend to talk to you for longer than necessary. But that's not exactly what happened since they had been talking a lot lately.
"Everything good today?" James would ask, standing at the doorway.
"Harry was a little sassy during storytime," you would say, amused. "He insisted he already knew how it ended and started narrating over me."
James sighed, rubbing his temple. "Of course, he did. Did he at least get it right?"
"Surprisingly, yes," you said. "Honestly, he’s way too smart for a five-year-old."
James smirked. "He gets it from me, obviously."
"Oh, obviously," you teased, raising an eyebrow.
And then, the next day…
"Harry told me today that he was going to ‘summon his broom’ to get out of naptime."
James coughed. "Uh. Kids have wild imaginations, don’t they?"
"Mhm," you said, amused. "Though, I have to say, that’s a very specific thing to imagine."
James quickly changed the subject.
And then, the next day after that...
He found himself lingering near your desk, watching Harry shove his tiny arms into his backpack with all the grace of a rampaging hippogriff.
“So,” James started, leaning against the desk, “should I be worried about his academic future, or is struggling with backpack logistics a phase?”
You grinned. “Don’t worry, it’s a phase. I think.”
James sighed dramatically. “Merlin’s sake, that’s a relief. I was beginning to think I’d have to enroll him in some kind of Backpack Etiquette for Beginners course.”
You chuckled. “Well, I do give him stickers when he remembers to pack up neatly.”
James blinked. “That’s brilliant.”
You shrugged, smirking. “Bribery works wonders at this age.”
James laughed. “Noted.”
And just like that, their conversation stretched past the usual parent-teacher exchange.
James found himself not in a rush to leave.
You didn’t seem to mind.
And Harry, for once, didn’t interrupt with any more mortifying revelations.
A win for James.
A week later, James arrived earlier than usual and found you organizing a small shelf of children’s books.
“Expanding their literary horizons?” he asked, stepping closer.
You looked up, smiling. “Trying to. Some of them are still convinced books are just really boring building blocks.”
James smirked. “Ah, yes. The tragic underappreciation of literature.”
You chuckled. “Exactly.” you tilted your head. “Did you like reading when you were a kid?”
James shrugged. “I liked it. But I wasn’t the sit-quietly-and-read type. That was Remus.”
You raised an eyebrow. “Remus?”
“My best mate,” James explained. “Loves books. Absolute nightmare when you try to pull him away from one.”
You grinned. “Sounds like the kind of student I’d love to have.”
“Oh, absolutely,” James said. “Meanwhile, I was the kid causing problems in the back of the class.”
You pretended to gasp. “You? Causing trouble? I would never have guessed.”
James smirked. “Shocking, I know.”
You fell into easy conversation after that, sharing stories about school, books, and the different kinds of students you had over the years.
James barely noticed the time passing.
Neither did you.
"Alright, I have to ask," you said one day, arms crossed as you leaned against the doorway. "What’s up with Harry and the ‘Uncles’?"
James blinked. "What do you mean?"
"He talks about Uncle Padfoot and Uncle Moony constantly," you said. "Are they even real people?" you said, knowing that those names were definitely not usual. Maybe they were imaginary friends.
James tried not to laugh, he couldn't explain it to you in a detailed way, you were a Muggle after all. "Padfoot and Moony are my best mates. They are very real. It's just their nicknames. Padfoot is Sirius, Moony is Remus."
You smiled, trying to understand why they were even called that. "I swear, sometimes Harry sounds like a tiny old man when he quotes them."
James laughed. "That… yeah, that tracks. They’ve been around his whole life."
You smirked. "So, which one gives the worst advice?"
"Oh, definitely Sirius," James said immediately. "He told Harry once that he could read his mind and my poor kid spent the rest of the week scared to think"
You burst out laughing. "That’s terrible!"
"I know!" James said, grinning. "Remus had to be the voice of reason that day, convincing Harry that his uncle couldn't read his mind"
The small talk everyday was becoming a habit.
James would ask about your day, and you would roll your eyes and dramatically recount whatever chaos had ensued in your classroom—kids throwing crayons, glue disasters, the occasional crying over absolutely nothing. You were expressive, funny, and had this energy that James found… comforting.
You, in turn, asked about James—not just about Harry but about him. His work, his hobbies, things he liked. And James found himself telling you, actually enjoying your chats instead of awkwardly stumbling over his words like he thought he would.
But, of course, Harry noticed.
"Dad," Harry groaned one afternoon as James leaned against the classroom doorway, chatting away with you while other parents picked up their kids. "You’re doing it again."
James blinked down at his son. "Doing what, Prongslet?"
Harry huffed dramatically, grabbing his tiny backpack. "Talking and talking and talking."
You burst into laughter. "Oh no, Potter, you’ve been caught."
James narrowed his eyes at his son. "Maybe I like talking to your teacher, kiddo."
Harry groaned even louder, stomping toward the door. "Ugh, come on! We're always the last ones now!"
You laughed, nudging Harry’s nose playfully. "Oh, come on, am I that bad?"
Harry sighed dramatically. "No, but Daddy talks to you too much."
James cleared his throat. "Well, I just—y’know—parent stuff. Making sure you’re doing okay."
Harry squinted at him. "Uh-huh. Sure, Dad."
You smirked. "Guess I must be very interesting, huh?"
James ran a hand through his hair, looking away. "Uh… yeah. I mean, no—I mean—"
You just chuckled and waved at Harry. "See you tomorrow, little tornado."
Harry grumbled something under his breath about adults being annoying and led the way out.
James followed, but not before sneaking one last glance at you.
Getting some advice (from the professionals)
By the time a couple of weeks had passed, James knew he had to do something.
Because this? This standing-in-the-doorway-every-day-for-way-too-long thing? This was not normal behavior. He wasn’t just talking to you about Harry anymore. He liked talking to you, period.
And that? That was terrifying.
You were the first person he’d felt anything for since Lily. It wasn’t the same—Lily had been his great, big, all-consuming love. But you? You were warmth, laughter, easy conversations, and teasing smiles. And that was something.
Which meant he was going to do the scariest thing he’d done since facing off against Voldemort.
He was going to ask you out.
Sirius and Remus, of course, had opinions.
"You just gotta charm her, Prongs," Sirius said confidently, lounging on James' couch. "Lay it on thick—tell her she’s the most beautiful woman you’ve ever seen, maybe throw in a ‘your eyes shine brighter than the stars’—"
Remus snorted from his chair. "Yes, James. Do that. That definitely won’t make her think you’re a lunatic."
Sirius furrowed his brows at his boyfriend "Hey! I think it worked wonders when i charmed you to like me"
Remus gave him a look "When did exactly you charmed me, pads?"
Sirius was quick to answer "Second year, of course, and it worked!"
Remus was trying not to laugh "Do you actually know that it didn't work, i just liked you back?"
Before Sirius could even snap back, his face surprised, James groaned, dropping his head into his hands. "I don’t need to charm her. I just… need to not make a fool of myself."
Sirius smirked. "Well, that’s impossible. But, hey, shoot your shot."
James was pacing his living room, gripping his hair. "I can’t do it. I can’t do it."
Sirius was looking deeply amused. "You, the James Potter, too scared to ask a woman out? This is history in the making."
Remus, sitting in an armchair, gave a long-suffering sigh. "James, it’s just coffee."
"Just coffee? Moony, I haven’t dated since Lily!" James threw his hands up. "What if she says no? What if she thinks I’m a terrible father for even thinking about dating?"
"Mate," Sirius said, sitting up. "I promise you, the last thing she’s thinking is that you’re a terrible father. She likes you."
James scoffed. "She doesn’t like me."
Sirius smirked. "Oh, yeah? Then why does she always smile at you? And laugh at your terrible dad jokes? And talk to you for an eternity?"
"That’s just—she’s nice!" James insisted.
Remus gave him a knowing look. "James. Just ask her."
James groaned. "Fine. But if I make an idiot of myself, I’m blaming both of you."
He was really going to ask you out.
Taking actions
It was a Friday afternoon. James had spent the entire day hyping himself up. This was it. No more standing around like an idiot. No more pretending he was just talking about Harry.
He was going to ask you out. Casually. Coolly. Like a totally normal, smooth person.
(He was absolutely not smooth.)
"Hey, y/n," James started as he leaned on the doorway of the classroom, trying to look relaxed.
You, who was organizing a chaotic pile of paper, looked up and smiled. "Hey, Potter. You’re right on time for the usual end-of-the-day complaints from your son."
Harry, currently sulking with his backpack, threw up his hands. "They played ring around the rosie today! Do you know how boring that is?!"
You laughed. "What, not exciting enough for you?"
"No!"
James smirked. "That’s tragic, mate."
Harry crossed his arms. "Can we go now or are you gonna talk for twenty years again?"
James cleared his throat. Now or never.
"Actually," he said, looking at you, "I was wondering if you wanted to grab a coffee sometime."
You blinked. "What?"
James internally panicked. "Casual coffee. Like—like two people, drinking coffee, talking, existing in the same space—"
You raised an amused eyebrow. "Are you asking me out?"
James wanted to die. "I—I mean—yeah? But, like, you don’t have to—"
You grinned. "James."
He swallowed. "Yeah?"
"I’d love to."
James froze. "Wait. What?"
You smirked. "I said yes, Potter. You good?"
James stared at you, processing, before a slow grin spread across his face. "Oh. Well. That’s… good. That’s great. That’s—"
Harry groaned. "Finally!"
James turned to him. "Oh, what now?!"
Harry threw his hands up. "It took you forever to ask her! I thought you were never gonna do it!"
You laughed. "Seriously?"
James groaned. "Can’t anything be a secret in this family?"
You just smirked. "Apparently not."
James, still grinning, nodded. "Alright then. Coffee it is."
And for the first time in a long time, James felt something that wasn’t just surviving. He felt happy.

could I request one where reader tells Fred that she's pregnant and he gets a bit overprotective of her?
A/n: DAD!FRED
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You’d been trying to find the right moment to tell Fred all day, but as usual, the Weasley twins had been busy causing mayhem in the shop. Every time you thought you had a second alone with him, someone would burst in needing something.
Finally, after the last customer left and George conveniently decided to “check inventory” in the back (which you highly suspected was his way of giving you privacy), you took a deep breath and turned to Fred.
“Fred,” you started, trying to steady your nerves.
He grinned, draping an arm around you. “Yes, love? What can I do for you? Want me to prank Percy again? Because I’d be delighted.”
You laughed but shook your head. “No, it’s… something else.”
Something about your tone made him sober up instantly. His playful smirk faded into concern, his eyes scanning your face. “You alright?”
You reached for his hand, squeezing it. “Yeah, I’m fine. Actually… I’m better than fine.” You took a deep breath and finally said the words. “I’m pregnant.”
For a moment, Fred just stared at you. His mouth opened, then closed, then opened again. It was like watching a broken puppet try to function.
“You’re… what?” he asked, voice higher than usual, your once confidant husband looked like he was hit with a Bludger. The man who survived the Battle of Hogwarts looked like he was two seconds away from keeling over.
You laughed softly, nodding. “Pregnant, Freddie.”
A slow, disbelieving grin spread across his face, but then—just as quickly—it shifted into something else. His hands suddenly hovered near you like he wasn’t sure if he should touch you.
“Merlin’s beard—okay, okay, sit down. You should be sitting.”
“Fred—”
“No, no, no, I mean it,” he said, ushering you toward the nearest chair. “You should be resting. Are you tired? You must be tired. You’re making a baby, that’s got to be exhausting....I... oh god." Fred gripped his hair now realizing how tired he must have made you.
You rolled your eyes as he kneeled in front of you, looking you over like you might break at any second.
“Fred, I’m fine.”
“Well, you won’t be if you keep standing around like that!” he insisted. “We need to get you something to eat. You’re eating properly, right? Oh, I need to tell Mum. She’ll know what to do. And Healer appointments—do we need to make one? When do we make one? You need to sit! Why are you standing! You shouldn't be standing."
You burst out laughing. “Fred, breathe!”
He sucked in a deep breath, exhaling slowly, but his eyes were still filled with excitement and overwhelming concern. “Okay. Right. I’m breathing. I’m calm.” He took another breath and then suddenly turned toward the back of the shop.
“OI GEORGE! SHE’S PREGNANT!”
You groaned, covering your face as George came running in, eyes wide. “Blimey, really?” He grinned at you before turning to Fred. “And you didn’t pass out? Proud of you, mate.”
Fred glared at his twin before turning back to you. “I swear, love, I’m going to take the best care of you. No heavy lifting, no stress, no....no nothing..but pure relaxation."
You sighed, already knowing that Fred was about to become the most overprotective man in existence. But as he kissed your forehead and pressed a hand gently against your stomach, his wide-eyed awe and love made your heart melt. A nervous smile on his lips as his he held you close, the man now guiding you to the back of the store to sit down.
Overprotective? Yes. But the love of your life was also about to be the best dad in the world.

bleeding blue | part thirty-four preview
You stare down at your shoes, where a thick piece of ash settles on the scuffed leather. The weight of the backpack digs into your shoulders as you steal one last glance at the distant chapel, its flames sputtering, the frame collapsing into embers. Near the ruins, one of the women you’d held at gunpoint clutches a chubby infant, her body wracked with silent sobs. You tear your gaze away, swallow the ache in your chest, and push forward with the others.
Whether they can survive without the last few men Price and Kyle locked inside the chapel isn’t something you can afford to dwell on—not when Simon's adrenaline has faded, his skin paling even as he stubbornly carries Blue, and the air is thick with the scent of blood. You need to get somewhere safe.
After the others found you, Nereida helped you gather as much medicine as you could, cramming it into a backpack you’d scavenged from one of the farm homes after forcing the women to reveal its location. You’re certain they have more stashed away—especially since this doesn’t account for what they took from you—but you weren’t willing to waste the time searching. A small part of you even wanted to leave them with something.
You'd wrapped Ghost's back in gauze, the best you could do for now, and hoped the clotted blood would hold long enough for you to properly tend to him. But not even a kilometer out from the commune, his steps falter. He nearly loses his grip on Blue, quickly adjusting her weight in his arms.
You inhale sharply and grip his elbow. "Let Kyle or Price carry her now." When he silently disregards you, jaw tight, you nibble at your cheek. Softer now, almost pleading, you try again. "Simon… you need a break."
He hesitates through an exhale, casting a wary glance at Price before finally relenting, loosening his grip on her.
Blue hugs Price's shoulders, carried on his back, for the next hour until you insist Ghost must stop. His skin feels cold when you touch him despite the fact all of you are sweating profusely, and when you ask him a question he takes too long to respond for your liking. Price seems satisfied with the distance you've gained, or maybe not even he has the energy left to travel under the beating sun.
Up a lone gravel road and hidden within a neat perimeter of plum trees is a grand estate that you cross through in thick silence. The grass is lush and overgrown, the air wearily peaceful. You can't help but grip the gun tightly, metal burning in your palm. The property stretches at least two or three acres, with a small pond and an untended garden where some wealthy fucks must have lived. The house is large enough for a family of ten and appears strangely untouched. You accompany Kyle to sweep the interior, only finding the skeletons of an old man and woman. The furniture is caked with a thin layer of dust.
"They must've been living here awhile after the spread," you murmur, heaving the backpack on the floor.
He nods. "It should be a decent spot for now."

Hello! I was curious what your take on the Amphoreus men’s reactions would be to a sick or even injured reader? I had bad nausea and a migraine today, bedridden and all, (but I’m better now!) and I fear if I was their darling they’d think I’m pregnant or something dumb like that 😂
Wishing you a lovely day! Thank you for sharing your writings ❤️
I'm sick atm so Imma answer this. Glad to hear u got better.
Tumblr media
When you're sick
🌿 Anaxa
At first, he's simply observing. He doesn't react strongly, but his mind is already working to figure out what’s wrong.
(Watching you struggle to sit up, his eyes gleaming with amusement at first.)
Anaxa: “How fascinating. Your skin is warmer than usual, your pupils slightly dilated… Could it be a poison? Did someone poison you? Or perhaps a parasite? I do wonder.”
Anaxa is unsettlingly calm as he begins testing different treatments on you (you poor thing). You say it’s just a cold? He doesn’t believe you.
(You groan, insisting it’s just a cold. He hums, unconvinced, swirling a dark liquid in a glass.)
Anaxa: “Drink this. It may cure you, or at the very least, give me something new to analyze.”
(He scares you, but he only wants the best for you. Such hypocrite.)
Pregnancy thought? Unlikely. He’s too logical for that, he's looking for tangible symptoms. However, if he does think it, it’s because he wants to study the changes in your body up close.
(You woke up just to see his hand already inspecting your stomach.)
Anaxa: “We managed to put a baby in here huh. Don't you move, I'll take very good care of you.”
(You pushed him away soon after and refused to drink or eat anything from him.)
🐶 Phainon
His smile starts to fade when he heard the news. You have a minor fever?
(He barges into the room)
Phainon: “You're going to die? Don't leave me! I can't bear the thought of living all alone...”
(Lays you in bed dramatically like you’re on your deathbed.)
If you say it’s just a cold, he’ll be offended and insist that you need “proper royal treatment.”
(He tucked you in so tight you can't even move.)
Phainon: “I always know that you're not as strong as me, but I didn't expect you to be sick. I will feed you, every day, don't worry.”
Pregnancy thought? that’s not possible… unless…
(You tell him to calm down, but he ignores you, crouching beside your bed with a look of pure anguish.)
Phainon: “What if it’s something deadly? What if *gasp you’re with child?!? Whose? Mine?”
(You choke on your own saliva at his ridiculous assumption.)
Phainon: “Stay right here, I’ll summon someone immediately!”
(He rushes out before you can protest. You are doomed.)
🦁Mydei
At first, he just watches you suspiciously. When he realizes it’s real, he softens… a little.
He doesn’t fuss, but he becomes overbearing in a quiet way. He forces you to rest, doesn’t let you lift a single finger.
(Arms crossed, standing near the door, eyes narrowed as he watches you weakly sip your drink.)
Mydei: “If you’re too weak to hold a cup properly, you shouldn’t be holding it at all.”
(You glare at him, muttering that you can take care of yourself.)
Mydei: “Clearly.” (Sarcastic. He takes the cup from your hands and forces you to lie down.) “Rest.”
If you get worse, he just picks you up and hauls you off to a doctor, no questions asked.
He’ll be stubbornly glued to your side until you’re better.
Pregnancy thought? The possibility crosses his mind, but he immediately throws it out because he would’ve known if anything like that was possible.
When you're injured
🌿 Anaxa
He is completely unfazed. Even if you’re bleeding out, he will only act calm and professional while getting out his medical tools.
(Kneeling beside you, observing the wound with a calm, almost clinical expression.)
Anaxa: “Hm. A deep cut. The bleeding is slowing, but the damage is substantial.”
You swear he’s a doctor with how efficiently he patches you up—but he makes little effort to comfort you. Rather, he finds it interesting to mess with you.
(You wince as he prods at the wound. He doesn’t even warn you.)
Anaxa: “I expected better. Letting yourself get hurt like this… Have you always been so careless?”
(You glare at him.)
Anaxa: “Oh, don’t look at me like that. This is your own fault, after all. Still, if I find out someone else dares hurt you... nevermind.”
🐶Phainon
Trying to hold back his anger, won't let it shows in front of you. You can only see his good side.
(His entire body is tense as he kneels beside you, gripping his sword so hard his knuckles turn white.)
Phainon: “Who did this?”
(You try to downplay it, but his eyes still burning with fury.)
Once he’s calmed down, he scoops you up and takes you to the best healer available.
He’s genuinely shaken up by it and might get overly protective afterward. Even minor scrapes will have him wrapping you up in bandages like a mummy.
Phainon: “And once you’re healed, you are never leaving my sight again. I won’t allow it.”
🦁Mydei
He’s surprisingly calm when he sees you’re injured, but it’s the eerie kind of calm. He’s not saying much, but the rage is there.
He doesn’t panic, he assesses your wound like a warrior, checking the severity before deciding what to do.
(He crouches beside you, examining the wound with an eerily quiet intensity.)
Mydei: “You’re bleeding.”
(You bite back a sarcastic remark. He rips off a piece of his sleeve, pressing it against the wound with firm but careful hands.)
Mydei: “Does it hurt?”
(You hesitate. He looks at you, his sharp gaze unyielding.)
Mydei: “Good. Remember it.”
Two priorities:
Getting you treated.
Finding whoever did this and destroying them.
No more fights. No more risks. You are staying where he can see you.
(He finishes bandaging the wound, then stands, offering you his hand.)
Mydei: “Come. You’re not walking alone.”

Damian had watched as his family slowly unraveled after Ma's call. He didn't understand how they had taken her "you don't get to see Tim until you stop trying to use him" and turned it into "you have spent all your chances with him so you don't get to see him or talk to him ever again". Damian knew Ma had meant that they should find a way to solve their problems as adults without using Timothy as a crutch and then they could see or talk to Timothy as a part of their family instead of just based on his usefulness.
Father and Richard hadn't seen it that way. Grayson had spent the next weeks alternating between moping and getting into screaming matches with Father, then storming out of the house and disappearing for days. It was clear that he was being consumed by guilt but instead of trying to find a way to fix things, he seemed to be mourning Timothy, even when he was alive and well, just out of reach. Father had started spending more and more time in the cave. He initially seemed to be trying to bypass Timothy's security features. Once he realized he would not succeed, he had decided to start going through all his contacts, trying to get Timothy's current information. Based on his rising frustration he hadn't been successful.
They hadn't asked Damian. If they had, he probably would have called Timothy from his phone, allowing them to make contact without giving them the information. He had informed his brother of the situation and they both had agreed that that was the best course of action if it were to happen, as unlikely as it sounded. Damian had initially said he could just pretend not to have the information but Timothy had insisted that he didn't want his little brother taking heat for keeping it hidden. Not when he had Timothy there to protect him, even if from afar. Damian had reluctantly agreed. They didn't ask. They barely even noticed Damian. In those weeks they didn't acknowledge him more than a handful of times and only for a brief greeting or a hair ruffle. Alfred had taken refuge on his role as a butler and rarely stopped to talk anymore. The manor was big enough for him to have infinite places to clean and avoid his feelings. So he did.
Damian remembered the last time he had met with Timothy. They had talked. Damian had apologized for his early murder attempts and Timothy had accepted it. They talked for hours about the family dynamics and the differences between their upbringing, along with the similarities, and the cultural norms both around the league and their family. Damian could remember thinking to himself that it would have been very useful to have that knowledge when he had just arrived in Gotham. It made him regret his treatment of Timothy, even if Timothy didn't blame him for it anymore (or ever, according to their chat).
The part of the conversation Damian kept replaying in his head wasn't exactly about that. Timothy had told him about his life, both growing up without parental supervision and then becoming an emotional support Robin for the good of Gotham. He told Damian a story about neglect that didn't end when his parents died. He made sure to highlight the behaviors within the Bats that had led him into distancing himself from them and eventually realizing it was time to leave.
"i don't think they mean to, not really. They're just prone to lose themselves on the latest problem in front of them, making everything else blurry and unimportant until they completely forget about anything unrelated to what they're trying to solve" Timothy had said. "They're detectives with a puzzle. They don't know how to stop. They assume the world around them stays the same until they emerge from their current obsession and are surprised when that isn't the case, usually leading to a second deep dive into the next problem born out of neglect."
Timothy had stopped for a second then continued with a thoughtful look on his face. Damian hadn't truly realized it was for his benefit more than Timothy's. "For example, when you came to the manor, Bruce was trying to bring Jason back to the manor while keeping him in his mind as the 15 year old but he had been when he died. He couldn't figure out why it didn't work but refused to acknowledge all the changes Jason had had in the past years and therefore couldn't recognize the person in front of him with the image he previously had of his son. That's why he was so distant with you at the beginning. Dick tried to compensate for it as he usually did whenever Bruce got into one of his moods. That meant he started cancelling plans with me and switching his focus to you entirely while putting me aside, since, from his perspective, I was 'fine' and you needed him more, never even considering that a big part of that was because of the attention he was paying me or how it would affect me to suddenly take it away for no reason."
He had given Damian more examples after that. Timothy had reassured him that it wasn't his fault or his responsibility but it was still important for him to have the information and know the signs. Timothy had made him promise that if it ever got that bad for him, that he wouldn't wait as long as Timothy had or endure the neglect hoping that it would get better if he gave them enough time. He had made him promise that he would come to Timothy if it came to that. No matter what.
Knowing his decision had already been made, he started packing his bags. Only the essentials. And his animals. He couldn't trust his Father or Grayson to take care of them when they barely remembered to take care of themselves on a good day, let alone now. He called for Jon and texted the Kents. They agreed to house Batcow, Titus and Jerry on the farm. Alfred (the cat) was staying with him and he would ask Timothy about bringing Titus to live with them later.
He took a look around the room, making sure he wasn't forgetting anything. He decided to leave his finished paintings, he could always make new ones and he didn't want to travel with too many things, even if he was going via Kryptonian. He could always come back if he forgot something important (he probably wouldn't). He hesitated for a second then took the framed picture on his nightstand and carefully shoved it into his bag. It was one of the ones they had taken after Timothy had rescued Father. Everyone was in it, Brown, Cassandra, Gordon, Todd, Richard, Father, Pennyworth, Thomas, and Damian. Everyone but Tim. They looked happy. Now it also felt incomplete. Damian still took it.
He left his bags in his room and took one last lap around the manor, waiting until the last minute to put Alfred in his carrier. He didn't find anyone even though he made sure to go through their preferred spots. He was ready. He texted Jon to come pick him up. Clark was going to come by later to take the rest of his pets. He stood in the middle of the main hall and whispered a last goodbye before going back to his room and opening the window for an already waiting Jon.
🐦🐦🐦
Damian rubbed his hands on his pants and took a deep breath to gather his courage. He closed his eyes for a few seconds then knocked on the door. It opened immediately, familiar eyes watched him with a knowing sadness. Damian opened his mouth and closed it a couple times before the words finally came to him. His brother waited patiently. "Timo... Tim. Can I stay with you for a while?" Timothy smiled at him.
"Of course, Dames. Come on in. You can stay as long as you want." He stepped to the side to let him into the apartment and took his bags from him with a hug. The door closed behind them. "I'm proud of you, kid" Damian heard him whisper and felt warmth fill his chest. Yes, this had been the correct choice.
Bruce comes back from the dead and wants to make things better. Bruce comes back from the dead and Tim was the one who brought him back, so it's obviously Tim who'll know best how to help him reconnect with everyone.
It's Tim who should give him advice on how to bond with Dick. Dick has always been his idol, after all. Tim would know best how to bring him back, and he does. He gives good advice and the two of them begin to get closer.
So Bruce asks about Jason, too. Asks about how to bring his son back into the fold and Tim wished for a brief and brutal moment that it weren't so obvious who the favorite was.
Tim told Bruce to give Jason his space, to loosen his rules, and make it clear that no matter what the Red Hood did, no matter what the Batman believed in, Jason was always welcome. Bruce would always want him.
It worked. Bruce wasn't surprised. Tim was a special sort of bitter.
Bruce asked again for Damian and Tim had to push down his anger. "That boy tried to kill me," Tim wanted to say. "I hate him and I want you to hate him too so that I can remember a time when we had something in common," Tim didn't say, but he got close.
He instead told Bruce how Damian liked art and animals and loved hearing stories of the wonders of Batman.
He told Bruce just how much Damian loved being Robin. Told Bruce to tell Damian what a good Robin he was.
God bless or maybe damn him, but he did and it worked and Tim wanted to start screaming and clawing at something because that would have never worked if Tim tried it and it wouldn't have stopped Damian from cutting his line--something Bruce did not and would never know about.
Bruce asked about Babs. How should he make sure she knew that she was a part of the family? They they loved her and not just for the work she did?
He asked about Steph. How should he make sure she knew that she was more important than his rules and that, if something else should go wrong, she didn't need to run away?
He asked about Duke. He never got the chance to get to know him before leaving--not as well as he wanted to, at least. How should he let him know that he was just as much a son as everyone else? That, whether or not his parents woke up, he'd always be welcome?
He asked about Cass. How should he show her that he loves her even though he has nothing to teach her? How can he convey how much he cares about her, his first daughter?
Bruce gets brought back from time and he makes things better. He brings his family back together by following Tim's advice.
And Tim?
Tim brings his dad back from the dead and Bruce changes, becomes a better father.
Bruce changes, but not everything can.
That, Tim thinks, is why Bruce never calls Tim his son.
