The death of Nex & queer people like him scares me.
It scares me because that could've been me.
It scares me because that could've been my friends.
And it scares me even more knowing that if I knew him, we probably could've been friends.
He deserved to live.
He deserved to live to 17.
He deserved to graduate high school.
He deserved to grow up and accomplish things.
And now that he's gone, he deserves to have the full truth told about his death.

Do you have any fic recs that involve chasing? Like Derek gives in to the urge to run after stiles and catch him?
I kind of didn't really understand what you were asking lol so here are a few types of "chase" fics:
Mating Run Fics:
Wants & Needs by MadcapRomantic
Derek Hale has been participating in the Beacon Hills Mating Run for a decade, each year coming up without a mate. His mother, convinced this is his lucky year, persuades him to run one last time.
Enter Stiles, a young Omega with an unwanted Alpha nipping at his heels.
Family or not, Peter is determined to have Stiles. But convinced they are True Mates, there isn't anything Derek won't do to keep Stiles safe.
The Cursed Wolf by SinQueen69
2023 Suggestion Anon Wanted: Feral alpha Derek, who has been cursed and got in that feral state. The only way to lift the curse is the "sacrifice" of a pure heart. And Virgin Omega Stiles is willing to help him but the ritual has to be a mating run.
When Things Go Right by SylvieW
Stiles is nervous for the mating run. What if his soulmate is disappointed? Scott’s convinced that Allison will catch him, but Stiles isn’t so sure of his best friend’s girl, and the results could be upsetting for everyone.
Angel Choirs and Magic by LadyDrace
Derek has been very, very patient, and has shown frankly incredible self-control in the face of brutal teasing and flirting for two months. But now it's time for the mating run, and he's about to get his reward.
Except for how maybe it's actually Stiles getting a treat. Win/win.
Stiles gets kidnapped and Derek gives a chase:
Out of Focus by exclamation
Stiles was taken prisoner by a coven of witches. Now his only chance of getting home is if he learns how to control his own magic… and stops blowing stuff up by accident. With surging power inside him that he can't restrain, Stiles must deal with memories of the nogitsune, and fears that he might end up hurting those he cares about.
Meanwhile, his family and friends don't even know if he's alive. His father desperately searches for answers, and Derek will do anything in his power to find Stiles, even if it means asking an Argent for help.
of gods & monsters by Dexterous_Sinistrous
“I’m not the best at conversation. I’ve been told I have no finesse for it.”
Stiles took a step closer to Derek, pushing the billowing silk out of the way. “And what would you say if you looked at me now?”
Derek looked up, startled for a moment when he realized he was now looking at Stiles’ unveiled face. He was silent for a beat, taking in Stiles’ features for the first time, convinced he would never see such beauty unveiled for him alone.
Stiles runs away and Derek catches his ass:
between the click of the light and the start of the dream by thepsychicclam
A twig snaps, and then Stiles hears breathing and the rustle of leaves. He strains to get a better glimpse into the darkness, but it’s pointless. There’s nothing but a black void.
It's Stiles' senior year, and he's trying to concentrate on normal things - like the lacrosse championship, spring break, prom, graduation (and definitely not Derek) - when he starts having nightmares and waking up in the middle of nowhere. Oh yeah, and he's being haunted by a hag. Great.
My Wolf by Dexterous_Sinistrous
“If he wants to mate Stiles, why not let him?” Jackson asked, ready to part with Stiles if need be.
“Because if I did that, I’d be demoting Lydia,” Alpha Stilinski replied.
“We don’t even know how good of a Beta he is,” Lydia countered, bristling some that her status was being challenged.
“That’s because he’s not a Beta,” Alpha Stilinski stated. “He’s an Alpha.”
If you wanted fics with their own chasing scenes, I am sorry to inform you that I have a memory of a goldfish, and do not remember any in particular, though I am sure they exist somewhere in the wild. If someone knows some, please, feel free to add!

Master List
Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Epilogue
Rooster walked out of the admiral’s office with his new orders clutched carefully in his hand. He kept his head held high as he walked through the narrow halls of the USS Gerald R. Ford, heading for his quarters to pack his bag and prepare to fly back to US soil. To Top Gun. To Miramar.
The Californian town had a lot of memories—some of the best and some of the worst of his life. It was the town where he lost his dad before he truly understood the gravity of it all. It was also the town where he spent his later years of high school after his mom died. Where he learned how to drive, where he graduated high school, where he had all of his firsts with a girl—now woman—whom he hadn’t seen since he stormed out of her life.
Cora Mitchell. Maverick’s daughter.
As a result of some poor decisions at nineteen, Maverick ended up with daughter only a few months younger than Bradley. Cora’s mom wanted nothing to do with her and even though Maverick was far from fit to be a father, he would have preferred falling down 100 flights of stairs than letting his child go into foster care.
Carole quickly offered to help raise Cora and help Maverick out. And as his mom used to call them, they were built in best friends. And in the later years of high school, they were a lot more than that. Sneaking into each other’s beds and spending the nights together was fairly regular and easy for them to pull off with Maverick’s bedroom on another floor.
Of course, then Maverick pulled his papers and then he left that life, and Cora, behind completely.
Rooster entered his room and shut the door behind him, heading for his bunk. His roommate wasn’t in, still doing drills with the rest of their squad, leaving Rooster alone with his thoughts. He opened the folder again, reading over the orders once more before he found his gaze shifting. Pulling out his personal bag, Rooster reached into one of the smaller pockets and pulled out a small photo preserved in laminate.
It was from a photo booth at Bradley’s senior prom. Cora sat on his lap, beaming at the camera as Rooster pressed a kiss to her cheek.
It was stupid to still be this curious about what Cora was doing with her life. After all, he was the one who broke up with her and stormed out of her life, saying all kinds of nasty things that he regretted the second that he said them. And he had to admit that he had scrolled through social media, trying to find a glimpse into her life, to no significant results.
All he knew was that she took some time off after high school and eventually graduated from nursing school. He assumed that she was still working as a nurse. And he knew that she now lived in or around Miramar. He didn’t have the guts to try and contact her when he was in town for Top Gun the first time around.
But maybe this new, and probably highly dangerous, mission would finally give him the kick in the ass to try and make things right with Cora. Even if it was just a simple apology, like a small ‘sorry,’ it would take away some of the guilt that ate away at his stomach every single time that he remembered her crestfallen expression and calls for him to come back.
Tucking the photo back into his bag, Rooster stood up and started to pack, letting his mind wander to what Cora’s life looked like now.
~~~~~
“Nicholas Peter Mitchell!” Cora thundered, marching towards the stairs, still dressed in her scrubs from work. “Get your butt down here now!”
Cora was only partially pleased to hear her son scrambling around, undoubtedly in the middle of some kind of panic due to her tone. She tapped her foot, able to picture her son’s exact expression of fear. She would have preferred that he simply told her ahead of time because then they could deal with it together, but he forced her hand by hiding it.
The sound of a door opening and a soft pattern of footsteps caused Cora to pick her head up. Her eyes narrowed when her son, Nickie, poked his head out from behind the wall with a sheepish smile. She shook her head when his expression gave away the fact that he knew exactly why she was upset. And that only caused her migraine to intensify.
“Hey, Mom. Did you have a good shift?” Nickie asked kindly, stepping out from behind the wall. “And did I mention that I love you and that you look more beautiful than usual today?”
Nickie, or simply Nick to his friends, was far from her twin. His hair was a light brown and curled at the end. His eyes were big and light brown, like someone she knew well in the past. The shape of his head and his cheekbones that were starting to emerge from the baby fat came from her side of the family, but the slope of his nose reinforced his father’s influence on his features.
But his sheepish, mischievous smile was definitely a Mitchell trait. Undoubtedly.
“When were you going to tell me that you got a speeding ticket?” Cora questioned, eerily calm despite her earlier yelling. “Today? Tomorrow? Next week? Never?”
“Mom, I already paid it off—”
“—When were you going to tell me?” Cora demanded, not amused. When Nickie fumbled for a response, Cora straightened up. “You have had your license for a month and you’ve already gotten a speeding ticket, Nickie. That’s not funny. You clearly do not understand that your car and your license are privileges, not rights.”
“It was at that speed trap under that highway pass on the way to school,” Nickie tried to explain, but Cora was not going to give him an inch of the moral high ground.
“I do not care where you got the ticket. I care that you were reckless behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. I care that you got a speeding ticket and now it’s on your record. And I care that you hid this whole thing from me.” Cora sighed, placing her hands on her hips and shaking her head at her son. “How much was it, Nickie?”
“Thirty bucks,” Nickie replied quietly.
“Well, then I think that thirty is an appropriate number of days to not need your car. And a good number of days to think about the importance of following traffic laws,” Cora stated, folding her arms over her chest. “Where are your keys?”
Nickie sighed and walked downstairs to grab his keys from the countertop. He quickly returned to his mother’s side and placed them into her open hand without a fight. Cora closed her hand and shoved the keys into her pocket.
“I’m serious, Nickie,” she stated softly, causing the teenager to turn back to her with doe eyes. “I don’t want you getting hurt. And speeding around, especially on these roads where there’s a thousand pedestrians and everything—it’s not safe. For you or anyone else.”
“I know, Mom. I’m sorry.”
“Thank you for having the maturity to realize that it was your bill to pay,” Cora offered her son in return, her tough exterior cracking just a bit. She rubbed her face tiredly. “And that’s probably what I get for letting your grandfather teach you how to drive.” Letting out a sigh, Cora dropped her hand from her face and turned back to Nickie. “How’s your homework coming?”
“Mostly done. I’ve got a test tomorrow.”
“Good.” Cora set her purse and the mail down on the countertop. “I’ll get started on dinner after I take a shower. Work on your homework and I’ll call you when I’m done.”
Cora walked into her bedroom and made a beeline for her on suite bathroom. Throwing her scrubs into her specified scrubs laundry bin, Cora quickly washed up from a long day at work. She changed into some comfortable clothes and a Navy sweatshirt before heading to the kitchen to start on dinner. The sun started to set in the distance as Cora waited for the chicken to cook.
The distinct sound of a Kawasaki caused her to look up from the oven, frowning with surprise. Walking over to the front windows, Cora was shocked to see her dad pulling into the driveway.
“What the—” Cora walked over and opened the front door, stepping out onto her front porch. “Dad? What are you doing here?”
“I thought that I would drop by since I was in town,” Maverick replied, setting up his kickstand and getting off his bike.
“Why are you in town? Not that I’m not happy to see you,” Cora added on, walking down to greet him. Maverick picked up the bag that he strapped to the back of his bike and pulled his daughter into a hug. But when she felt him wince, she instantly pulled back with a sharp, knowing look. “What happened now? What did you do this time?”
“Is that dinner that I smell?” Maverick asked, redirecting the conversation.
“You’re not getting out of this conversation,” Cora warned him, turning for her home and pulling the door open. “How many times do I have to tell you that you’re not twenty anymore? And could you at least wear a helmet once in a while?”
“Mom, who are you talking to?” Nickie yelled from upstairs.
“Your grandfather decided to drop by. Randomly,” Cora called back to her son.
A second later, there were a set of rapid footsteps echoing down the hall before Nickie appeared at the top of the stairs. His grin was immediately wide, showing the likeness between him and his grandfather, before Nickie hurried down the rest of the stairs to greet his grandfather.
“What are you doing in town?” Nickie asked, jogging over to Maverick.
“Well, I thought that it was a good idea to visit my favorite kid and grandkid once in a while,” Maverick joked, pulling Nickie into a hug despite his aching ribs
“Pops, I’m your only grandkid,” Nickie pointed out, frowning slightly.
“Still counts.” Maverick stared up at Nickie, jokingly inspecting him. “Did you get taller since the last time that I saw you? You look taller.”
“Maybe you’re just shrinking,” Nickie quipped, causing Maverick to turn to Cora.
“Don’t look at me,” Cora replied, gesturing to her own short stature. “Nickie over here got about three generations worth of height.”
Or, rather, he just had other genes to pull from when it came to height. And the men on the other side of Nickie’s family were all at least six feet tall, like Nickie was quickly shaping up to be. But not a single Mitchell in that household was going to bring that up.
Once dinner was finished cooking, the three Mitchells set the table and sat around, chatting and catching up since the last time that Maverick was in Miramar.
“I thought that you said that you wouldn’t be done with that project for a while,” Nickie stated, turning to his grandfather.
“Well, plans change,” Maverick replied noncommittally, glancing down at his plate.
“Because they were actually changed or because you felt the need to change them?” Cora deadpanned, cutting into her chicken.
“There might have been some . . . minor scheduling changes.”
“So, you’re not just visiting then,” Cora deduced, reaching for her drink. How she wished that it was wine instead of water.
“How long are you in Miramar for then?” Nickie asked excitedly, reminding Maverick painfully so of Bradley as a teenager.
“A few weeks. Somewhere around a month.”
“For what?”
“That’s classified,” Maverick replied, causing Nickie and Cora to roll their eyes in seemingly practiced sync. “I’d tell you, but—”
“—But then you’d have to kill us, yeah, we know, Gramps.”
“How’s school then? Still swimming and everything?” Maverick asked Nickie, changing the subject.
“It’s good. Swim doesn’t start for a few more weeks, but I’m trying to train before it. But I think I’m going to have to focus on running.”
“Why? Something wrong with the car?” Maverick questioned, looking concerned.
“No, just the driver,” Cora replied, setting down her utensils. “Nickie got a speeding ticket.”
“How bad?” Maverick asked, earning a sharp look from Cora. “I mean, that’s bad, Nickie. Don’t do it again. You have to get a little bit more driving experience before you start speeding.”
Cora sighed, holding her head in her hand for a moment as Nickie hid a smile behind his mouth. Maverick shot Nickie a joking smile before straightening up in his seat.
“But you’re doing good in school, Nickie?”
“Pretty well. Pre-calc is kicking my butt, but I think it’s supposed to get better.”
“Well, don’t be afraid to enjoy your teenage years a bit. Don’t go rushing off to try and grow up before your time,” Maverick replied, glancing over at his daughter for a moment. “Besides, I thought that you were going to try out for the surf team.”
“They want me to,” Nickie agreed, taking a bite of his dinner. “Mom’s a little scared to let me do it.”
“I just think that baseball is safer,” Cora replied softly, reaching for her drink. “Besides, between swim and water polo, you’re going to turn into a prune, Nickie. Not to mention that you go out sailing with Penny and Amelia all the time.”
“I just like the water, Mom,” Nickie stated, missing the pained expression on Cora’s face. “And besides, the baseball coach is an asshole.”
“Language,” Cora stressed, causing Maverick to chuckle.
~~~~~
After dinner, Nickie excused himself to finish up his homework. Cora and Maverick worked together to clean up after dinner and to set up the spare room for Maverick to sleep in while he was in town. But after the finished up the housekeeping, the father and daughter sat out on the back porch. Cora poured herself a glass of wine for the conversation and brought Maverick a beer.
“So, why are you really in town?” Cora asked, sitting down.
“Ice called me in,” Maverick stated, causing Cora to grow more serious instantly. “It’s a mission.”
“And not just any mission . . . is it?” Cora questioned, though she already knew the answer.
Ice wouldn’t have called Maverick in for just your run of the mill mission. This was a serious mission, that was certain. And that instantly caused Cora’s blood pressure to spike in an instant. Ice wouldn’t have called Maverick in unless it was something bordering on a suicide mission.
“No, it’s not,” Maverick agreed, nodding solemnly.
He looked away from his daughter for a moment, a rock settling in his stomach. It had been sitting there since a familiar face flashed on the screen in that conference room. But he knew that he had to unload it sooner rather than later.
To say that Maverick’s perspective on Rooster was complicated did not quite do it justice.
On one hand, as Cora’s father and Nickie’s grandfather, there was nothing that Maverick wanted to do more than to grab Rooster by his ear and give him the lecture of the century about responsibility and putting his personal emotions to the side to be a man and a father. Hell, if it was any other boy who did that to Cora, Maverick would have strapped him to the outside of the Darkstar and done a couple laps around the Earth.
But, on the other, as Goose’s wingman and the man who tried to raise Rooster, Maverick wanted Rooster nowhere near Miramar or this mission. Hell, Maverick did what he could to make sure that Rooster stayed as far away from a cockpit as possible. And that side of Maverick just wanted Rooster back in his life, safe and far from danger.
But being Cora’s father and Nickie’s grandfather was always the side that won out in the end.
“There’s something else,” Maverick began, causing Cora’s eyebrows to furrow with concern. “He’s involved in the mission.” Cora noticeably tensed up as Maverick added, “He’s here.”
“In Miramar?” Cora asked quietly, earning a nod from her dad. Sighing, she held her head in her hands for a moment. “Fuck.”
“Did you tell Nickie—”
“—No,” Cora interjected, cutting Maverick off. “No, I didn’t.” Not . . . not the whole story." She stared out at the backyard, out at the little swing set that Maverick and Ice built for Nickie on a warm afternoon so many years ago. “He’s supposed to be out in the middle of the Atlantic right now.”
“And I’m supposed to be in the Mojave.”
Nickie sat with his back to the wall, silently listening in on his mom’s conversation with his grandfather. He knew that it was wrong and he knew that he was already on thin ice with the speeding ticket, but he knew that his mom and his grandfather went outside to talk where he couldn’t hear them. But his mom always seemed to forget that the bathroom window was right above the patio.
“Have you seen him yet?” Cora inquired quietly, causing Maverick to nod slowly.
“Yeah, I did. Briefly. At the Hard Deck.”
“Did he see you?”
“I don’t think so, no,” Maverick replied, shaking his head.
Cora let out another sigh and held her head in her hands again. Maverick quickly got up from his seat, setting aside his beer and pulling his daughter into a tight hug. Cora latched onto her dad, trying to calm herself down and not shed anymore tears over Bradley Bradshaw.
But she failed. Just like she did the last thousand times.
Nickie clenched his eyes shut and curled his hands into fists. His mom was the strongest person that he knew. Life threw a thousand things at her and she somehow always managed to keep herself and him on their feet. But the second that anyone brought up his dad, she always flipped a switch.
She always broke down or went into absolute survival mode until something else snapped her out of it.
Nickie stopped asking about his dad when he overheard his mom sobbing to Penny in the middle of the night about how his dad still wouldn’t return her calls. It happened years ago, nearly a decade now, but it was still fresh in his mind. Burned there for the rest of his life. And, well, if his dad couldn’t even give his mom three seconds of his life, then Nickie wouldn’t give him an ounce of energy either.
And, hell, Nickie was a mama’s boy. And anyone who made his mom cry was dead to him. Dad or not, the fucker who never showed up for him or his mom was dead to Nicholas Peter Mitchell.
Whoever the hell he was.

Random TUA Headcanons, Pt. 1
I was thinking about what sort of uncles (and aunt) the Hargreeves siblings would be. Since we may get to see those dynamics in s4 (the Klaus and Claire pic has got me hyped) it's time to share my silly thoughts.
This isn't speculation; I don't really do that. These are merely random ideas of mine (and all very soft because I can't be an angst writer all the time). Enjoy! ^.^
Below the break.
LUTHER
Helps teach them how to drive, and really enjoys it, too.
Has karaoke sessions in the car with his nieces when he drives them around. He tries to sing all the parts and makes them laugh.
Takes them to planetariums, rocket launches, and shows them how to work a telescope; he'll map the night skies with them for hours.
Was always the favorite when it came to playing hide-n-seek or tag; he invented a game called "crazy monk" where he makes scary faces and chases them around the house.
Could carry one niece on each shoulder easily; they loved it.
DIEGO
Is there for them after their first break-up. He takes them to a rage room and they have a grand time smashing things to bits.
Teaches them self-defense, as well as how to properly throw a knife. He may have gifted them their first knife a little too early, though.
Attends all of their sports games and track meets, and is there to scream and cheer from the sidelines (or shout at the ref if needed).
Learned how to style hair so he could give his daughter and niece all sorts of fun and dramatic hairdos; on speed dial for "crazy hair day" at school.
ALLISON
The one who takes them out for their first drink when they turn 21.
Likes to buy a lot of little presents for them, although they'll occasionally get jump-scared by something huge, like a new car.
Loves to go on trips with them; was definitely their travel companion for their senior graduation trip.
Helped them get ready before prom and took way too many pictures, all of which she cherishes greatly.
Would absolutely be the one to give "the Talk", because all of her brothers were too awkward to do it for their own children. Is excellent at giving a quick and concise sex ed course.
KLAUS
Would love to take his nieces to get their nails done (he'd get his done, too).
Loves to go get ice cream, boba, and other little treats with his nieces.
Is definitely the one bringing home puppies, kittens, hamsters, etc. as birthday presents.
If any of his nieces/nephews were to come out as queer, he'd be wildly supportive. He'd go with them to get their hair cut and buy new clothes if they were trans, or support them at Pride, or just overall be the coolest uncle ever.
FIVE
Acts like he could care less, but remembers all of the tiny, insignificant details such as their favorite color or favorite flavor of ice cream.
Will pick them up from anywhere, no lectures, no questions asked. Also won't tell their parents if they don't want him to.
Became very distressed the first time one of his nieces was bullied; his siblings had to remind him that he was not allowed to murder a kindergartner.
Unironically refers to them as his siblings' "spawn" and "offspring".
Asks his nieces for help when it comes to using his phone.
Would take his nieces to Starbucks or Dutch Bros (is this too niche to my area?), even if he thinks their coffee tastes like shit, because he likes to see them smile when they drink their overly sugary drinks.
(UMBRELLA) BEN
The absolute best at reading bedtime stories. He'd do goofy voices and end up keeping his nieces awake because they'd be too busy giggling.
Helps them study for tests and exams (they always get the best grades when Uncle Ben helps them).
Is an extremely good listener and gives some of the best advice. He never judges them for their mistakes, but always suggests how they might grow and move forward.
Happy to help his nieces on their curiosity voyages; likes to take them to museums and other places of learning.
VIKTOR
Would attend every musical, dance recital, talent show, and performance his nieces were in. He'd be in the back with big bouquets of roses and whistle and cheer at all the right moments.
Likes to take them to do the ordinary, menial things he wished he could do as a kid, such as going to the zoo or an amusement park.
Loves to talk and FaceTime with his nieces; he never misses a single call.
Is happy to pay for any artistic hobbies his nieces want to pursue, such as music lessons or drama camps.
Have any other headcanons about the Hargreeves as aunt and uncles? Lemme know in the replies or the reblogs!

So if your looking at things from Jess' pov his mom just kicked him out to live with his uncle he barely knows, he has a lady he's just meeting for the first time talking to him about how she knows what he's going through and to him it feels condescending even if it wasn't meant that way by Lorelai. He doesn't want to be in Stars Hollow initially so he starts acting out to test how quickly he could get sent back such as stealing garden noms...etc, then he meets a girl who shares the same interests as him and the only person in town so far that doesn't automatically treat him like a preconceived opinion about him and she makes him feel comfortable so he proceed to impress his crush with writing notes in her book margins (that says I want you to know me) and pulls pranks that would make her laugh to then learn she has a boyfriend and learn that he is beloved by her mother that loathes him.
Dean does all the "perfect boyfriend things" while being a possessive, explosive, and an emotionally abusive control freak. Jess only wants to then spend more time with her, but the whole town already thinks he is trouble because of the reputation he set for himself.
He gets into a car accident with Rory and people then act like he's the spawn of Satan. He becomes so anxious and feels so bad after the accident that he leaves town because he doesn't want to cause Rory any harm or get harm from the weirdo townies. When she comes for him in New York he gets this burst of hope in him which is why he decides to move back for the possibility of being with Rory.
After Rory kissed him the first time he was so gone for her and in that moment that was all he wanted. He genuinely thought she was going to break up with Dean and choose to be with him, but when she didn't and left instead (my boy who already has deep abandonment wounds) is hurt because she didn't outright choose him and left. He then was alone without the one person in that town that he wanted to be around and so he met Shane who didn't want anything serious so it was a perfect way to try to mask his pain with her. He mysteriously gets a car, and people are going nuts thinking he stole it, and he's thinking I can't even get a second job without people thinking I'm a criminal, and I can't get a second job without people accusing me of being a drug dealer or a stripper.
Once him and Rory get together he is so happy he doesn't want to mess it up with her and he gets nervous because he wants everything to go right. She's the one he's been waiting for and now he has her. Then her ex boyfriend starts stalking and harassing him in secret and he feels like he can't do anything about it, and can't even tell his girlfriend about it because he thinks she won't believe her if he told her, so he bottles it up. When he gets attacked by the swan and she thought he got in a fight with Dean and didn't believe him it really hurt him. (I don't blame Rory for this she had no way of knowing and Dean was being manipulative with his "nice guy" and shitty behaviors but it still hurt Jess none the less.) After that he begins to put up his walls again.
When he realizes he's been messing up after not calling he then starts trying to do better and set dates and plans to be with her. All he wants to do is make her happy at this point. Then he gets the news that he's not graduating and in that moment it feels like everything everyone had always said about him came true, he felt like a failure and knowing that he wasn't going to be able to keep his promise to Rory that he would take her to prom crushed him. He wanted so badly to be there for her and do all the boyfriend things and he was so afraid of telling her he wasn't graduating and so upset he couldn't keep his promise to her. His smart girlfriend was getting into an ivy league school and he wasn't even going to graduate highschool and the thought of telling her that was horrible to him.
He could feel he was losing her and he thought once he told her that it would be over, and ended up messing things up with her anyways. He felt like he was doing her a favor by leaving because he figured she would want him gone. He didn't think she would want him to stay, even though that's all she wanted. He was battling his demons alone and was used to everyone shipping him off when he messed up that he thought he was doing her a favor by leaving after he messed up so bad.
His father that left him as a baby showed up in his life for the first time and he didn't know how to handle that. Once Luke kicked him out he ran to his dad that left him because crashing on his couch or floor was better than staying with his neglectful deadbeat mother.
He finds out his uncle was hiding his car from him and felt double betrayed he was already feeling abandoned yet again after Luke kicked him out to then find out he took something he worked so hard to get from him he was more betrayed. He comes back to Stars Hollow to get his car and everyone still wants him gone. Luke tells Jess to stay away from Rory so he proceeds trying to avoid her while he is there and he knows how badly he messed up with her and he wants to talk to her but when he sees her at the firelight festival he wants to explain to her but she is still so mad and all he could get out was that he loves her. He just wanted her to know he then leaves because he doesn't expect her to say anything he just wanted her to know. Jess is deeply hurting at this point inside and his pain is at it's peak. He just keeps digging a deeper whole and doesn't know how to fix it at this point.
Luke convinces Jess to go to his neglectful mother's wedding and goes to a bachelor party where he is assaulted by his stepdad to be at a bar and he naturally goes into defense mode. He was so used to his other abusive step dad's that he was constantly in defense mode and fought back. He goes to his mother's wedding anyways and walks her down the isle despite everything his mom put him through. Luke gives him the self help book that he had been reading, and Jess reads it and tries to better himself as well, meanwhile Lorelai scoffs to Luke about it. (I love Lorelai but that was extremely uncalled for by her and it just makes me think no matter what he does or how better he becomes he will always resent him, and it just makes no sense that she has this one sided grudge with a kid that was deeply in pain.) He makes up with Luke and thanks him for everything he did for him, and then he goes to try to apologize and tell Rory how he feels, but then he sees Dean there and he is thrown off and he just wants to make things right so in the spur of the moment he asks her to leave with him because he just wants to fix what they had. (He wasn't thinking rationally, but he meant it when he said she could count on him now and so he went out and turned his life around and made something for himself and came back to show her how much she could count him now even if it meant as a friend. He would still be there for her and he showed her that he could be the person she always knew he was. He still didn't expect anything from her he just wanted to show her his book, and let her know he couldn't have done it without her.)
He was so badly traumatized while him and Rory were together and it couldn't have possibly worked out at that time. He was battling so much pain internally, and everyone in that town was against him and actively hating him 😭 and I just feel for what he was going through, and I'm just so proud of who he turned out to be. I'm not sure what this rant was anymore but I'm just thinking about Jess' perspective and his pain right now. He was in so much pain while him and Rory were together and he didn't know how to properly express that or tell her that, and I just want to hug him and I'm so proud of him for how far he came and how much he overcame his pain and trauma and ugh I just feel so much right now. (Also I had a lot of coffee today and my autistic/ADHD brain is just going with thoughts right now.)

Prologue
"WE SHOULD BREAK UP," SUKI announces on our way out of algebra class.
Her unfeeling declaration shouldn't surprise me since I knew this was inevitable, but I didn't expect her to dump me a few hours before prom.
I stop in the middle of the hallway, not caring that I'm blocking traffic. "Why now?" I ask, tightening my grip on my backpack straps.
She looks down at her pink painted nails, refusing to make eye contact with me.
"Things have been different since the accident. You're different." Translation: Now that your face is fucked up, I can barely stand to look at you. "Graduation is right around the corner, and with me leaving for Kyoto at the beginning of the summer, it only makes sense for us to part ways now." Translation: I want a clean break so I can date someone I'm not embarrassed to be seen with.
Now that I'm no longer the "ruggedly handsome Basketball player," as she so fondly used to call me, she's eager to replace me with someone who won't ruin pictures with a jagged scar marring half his face.
"Satoru, are you listening to me?" She waves her hand in front of me to grab my attention when I don't respond.
"My face may be fucked up but my ears work just fine, Su," I say through gritted teeth.
"What did I say?" she challenges, hands on her hips.
"That you're embarrassed to be seen with me, and you want to date other people. Does that sum it up?" Okay, so those weren't her exact words, but we both know that's what she's thinking.
"You're twisting what I said," she retorts, raising her voice and taking a defensive stance, arms folded tightly across her chest.
The sound of someone snickering catches my attention. That's when I notice the sizable crowd of students lingering in the hall, interested to hear how this argument unfolds.
"You're right. We have grown apart," I say, keeping my voice steady.
Suki's eyes widen in shock at hearing me agree. That's when she notices our audience, causing a sudden shift in her blasé attitude. She gets fidgety and twirls a piece of hair around her finger, shifting from foot to foot.
"What are you saying?" she demands, glancing back at her friends who have joined the group of spectators.
From her reaction, one would assume she's the one being dumped in front of an audience, not the other way around.
"We should break up," I say, echoing her earlier declaration.
"Just like that?" she demands. "You're not even going to try to convince me to change my mind? How could you humiliate me in front of—"
"Cut the theatrics, Suki," Suguru interrupts her rant, standing beside me in a silent show of support. "You said it yourself. It's over. Don't embarrass yourself more than you already have."
He must have been in the crowd watching things play out. We've been best friends since preschool, and he's one of the few people I can count on always to have my back.
"Mind your own business, Suguru," Suki spits out. "This is a private conversation between me and my boyfriend."
"Ex-boyfriend," I interject. "You were just telling me you wanted to break up, remember?"
"And from where I'm standing, this is as far from private as you can get," Suguru adds. "Now, why don't you and your friends get lost?" He shoos her like a dog.
Suki's cheeks turn bright red when the hallway fills with laughter. "Are you really going to just stand there and let him disrespect me?" she whines.
"Suguru's right. It's best if you leave," I say calmly.
"You'll be sorry," she fumes. "Don't come begging to win me back when you see me with my new prom date tonight. He's a freshman in college," she throws in my face before storming away.
Her entourage hurries after her, and the crowd quickly disperses now that the spectacle is over.
It shouldn't surprise me that she has another date lined up. She would never risk the humiliation of going alone.
"Good riddance," Suguru mumbles under his breath. "Remind me again why you dated her. She is such a diva."
"I don't know." I shrug. "She was nice when we first met. Plus, all the guys on the Basketball team kept saying we'd be good together, so I figured, why not?"
In truth, I can't be with the girl I've always wanted, and Suki was a welcome distraction. She is attractive and popular and made me feel important—until my accident.
"College chicks are going to fucking love your scar. It makes you look badass." Suguru pats me on the back.
"Thanks, man," I say, ready to move on from this topic. "Where's Y/n?" I scan the hall as the group disperses, but she's nowhere to be seen.
Y/n, Suguru's twin sister, tags along most of the time, making her one of my closest friends.
The smug expression on Suguru's face turns serious. "You're not the only one who was stood up for prom. Toji broke things off with Y/n right before eighth period." His voice drips with fury. "He left her crying alone in the school parking lot."
I clench my fists at my side, the urge to kick Toji's ass building inside me. Y/n is the sweetest, most beautiful girl in school, and frankly Toji never deserved her.
"What a scumbag," I spit out in disgust. "He needs to be put in his place." No one disrespects Y/n and gets away with it.
"Get in line," he snickers.
"Where is she now?"
"I'm not sure. She said she wanted to be alone and took off on her bike," Suguru says with a worried frown. "I should skip prom and go look for her. I'm sure Shoko will understand if I have to cancel our date."
I shake my head. "There's no reason for you to spend the night wallowing in misery like the rest of us. Go home and get ready to pick up Shoko. Don't worry, I'll find Y/n." There's only one place she would go if she wanted to be alone without dealing with unwanted visitors.
Except for me, that is.
"Are you sure?" Suguru asks, concern etched on his face.
"Absolutely. We'll make a night of it," I assure him.
If I could convince Y/n to attend prom with me, I'd do it, but knowing her as I do, she'll want to stay as far away from Toji and the dance as possible.
Suguru nudges me with a mischievous glint in his eye. "Look, there's Toji now." I glance over to him walking toward the school entrance with his friends. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Suguru questions.
"That it's time for payback?" I smirk, cracking my knuckles as I stalk toward Toji.
Suguru cracks. "You read my mind."
As I pull up to the old Yaga's place, a smile crosses my lips when I spot Y/n's robin-blue bike parked against the house. The place has been abandoned for over twenty years, but it's become the hangout spot for my siblings and friends. N/n, in particular, has taken a liking to it and comes here when she needs peace and quiet.
I make my way through the overgrown lawn to the backyard, where I find Y/n. She's stretched out on a flannel blanket, her sanctuary under the shade of the giant oak tree, lost in a book. Her h/c hair falls in waves down her back, a sight that always takes my breath away. I smile when I see she's wearing her favorite pair of Doc Martens.
Seeing her like this takes me back to the day in our tenth-grade English class when she came in wearing a white V-neck top, light-wash jeans, and those same Docs. Even though we've known each other our whole lives, that was the first time I saw her in a new light and I swear my heart skipped a beat when she waved at me with her signature megawatt smile. I couldn't take my eyes off her during class.
When the bell rang, Suguru grabbed me by the collar and dragged me out into the hall, shoving me against the closest set of lockers. He noticed me watching Y/n and warned me she was off-limits.
I couldn't jeopardize our friendship because of a crush on his sister, so I did my best to suppress my feelings for Y/n. It wasn't easy. Something about her called to me, and it kept drawing me in like a gravitational pull, despite my best efforts.
Like she can sense that I'm thinking about her, she looks up at me with tear-stained cheeks as I approach. My chest tightens at seeing her sad. I would do anything to take away her pain and bring a smile to her face.
"Mind if I join you? I brought dinner." I hold up a bag of takeout from Maidreamin Café—Her favorite Store in Shibuya.
"Did Suguru send you?" She eyes the food warily.
"No. He told me what happened with Toji, and I figured this is where you'd be," I answer truthfully.
Without waiting for an invitation, I sit on the blanket and set the bag in front of me. Y/n watches with interest as I take out two bacon cheeseburgers, fries, and a chocolate shake topped with extra whipped cream and a cherry—all her favorites.
"Why come if you knew I wanted to be alone?" There's a hint of sass in her voice.
She's not afraid to go head-to-head with me and doesn't hesitate to set me straight when I'm out of line.
"My mom always says chocolate is the best cure for a broken heart." I hold out the shake, a smile tugging at my lips when she takes it.
"She's absolutely right." Y/n grins as she takes a sip. "Want to tell me why you're here with me instead of at prom?"
"Suki dumped me after school," I state flatly.
"Oh, Satoru, I'm sorry." Y/n places her hand on my arm. "I hate that bitch," she says with conviction.
Her touch sends a jolt of electricity down my spine, and it takes every ounce of willpower to maintain a poker face. She has no idea how I really feel about her, and it has to stay that way.
A few weeks after Suguru told me Y/n was off-limits, Suki showed interest in me, and I threw all my energy into our budding relationship. She was the perfect distraction, helping me temporarily forget about my attraction to Y/n, those feelings simmering below the surface.
"It's for the best." I shrug, reaching across Y/n to grab a fry.
"Oh my god, Gojo," she gasps when she spots the swollen knuckles on my left hand.
"What happened?"
I grin at her use of my last name. She's called me that since ninth grade when I started playing Basketball. Gojo was stitched across the back of my jersey, and the nickname stuck. Y/n has always resented that Y/n calls me that, but I couldn't care less what she thinks now.
I like it when Y/n uses it. I love it.
"Tell me what you did," she presses when I don't answer her question right away.
"Toji Zenin said something that pissed me off, so I punched him in the face," I tell her with a grin.
She gasps, her eyes wide with shock. "Oh, Satour, please don't tell me you did it because of me."
"Do you want me to lie?"
She shakes her head. "I want the truth."
"I did it because he hurt you," I confess simply. "He deserved it." When he called Y/n a frigid bitch after Suguru and I confronted him for dumping her, I let my temper take over. I have zero regrets.
"You shouldn't have done that," she scolds me, a worried look on her face. "What if he had hit you back? You could have been hurt."
I laugh, pointing to the scar on my face. "As long as he aimed for the left side, we wouldn't be able to tell the difference."
"That's not funny, Satour." Y/n scolds me. "Toji was provoking you. His dad is the president of the school board, you know this. What if you get suspended?"
God, her protective side is so adorable.
I've been sent to the office so often that I'm on a first-name basis with the principal. I have a habit of letting my fists do the talking when someone is being a bully and am late more often than not. One more offense won't make a difference.
In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter anyway. Graduation is only a month away, and I don't think I want to go to college. Not that I've had the courage to break the news to my parents yet.
"It was worth it," I promise Y/n. "Now eat before the food gets cold."
"You don't have to tell me twice." She grabs a burger and unwraps it before taking a large bite. A subtle moan escapes her lips as she chews.
"Good?"
"Mm-hmm," she acknowledges around her mouthful of food.
I'm entranced as I watch juice dribble down her chin. Without thinking, I gently wipe it away with my finger, freezing when I realize what I've done.
"Sorry," I say as I yank my hand back.
Her e/c eyes meet mine as she traces her mouth where my finger grazed.
"Don't be." She offers me a reassuring smile. "You know I'm a messy eater, so I appreciate it."
I clear my throat. "Yeah, I'm happy I could help." I brush the sauce off on a napkin before I do something out of line like lick it from my finger.
Thankfully, Y/n isn't paying attention. She's chewing methodically, lost in thought. "Why are boys so stupid?" she mumbles under her breath.
"I could ask the same question about girls," I tease.
"Hey." She playfully slugs me on the shoulder. "We're not all self-absorbed snobs like Suki. Honestly, I'm not sure what you ever saw in her."
She was a distraction.
What stings the most about what happened with Suki is the fear that other people will react the same to my scar. I used to be comfortable in my own skin, but since the accident, I'm not so sure anymore.
"Hey, Gojo," Y/n says, her sing-song voice snapping me out of my pity party.
"Yeah, N/n," I reply.
"Do you believe in soulmates?"
"I'm not sure," I answer honestly.
"Is it weird that I do?" She watches me, anticipating my reaction. "I like to think there's one person out there that I'll grow old with and who will love me unconditionally, no matter what." She chews on her lower lip as she considers her next words. "What if I'm destined to date losers for the rest of my life?"
Y/n is a dreamer who sees the world with a glass-half-full mentality. Which is why I don't have it in me to tell her that Toji most likely won't be the last man who breaks her heart.
Relationships are messy and tangled up with so many emotions, and I, for one, plan to avoid them in the future. They're nothing but complicated, inevitably leading to pain. Why anyone would want to subject themselves to that brutality is beyond me.
"N/n, you're only seventeen," I remind her. "You've got plenty of time to find your one."
"But what if he never comes?" She leans back, looking up at me with those innocent e/c eyes.
God, why does she have to be so pretty?
"I'll tell you what." I give in to temptation and play with a strand of her hair. "If you can't find him, and we're both still single when we're thirty, we'll get married."
Y/n bursts out laughing. "You can't be serious."
I've never been more serious in my life.
In an alternate universe, I like to think that I could be her one. The person to make her laugh every day, her Prince Charming, and the one she couldn't live without.
In this reality, I'm just the court jester she tolerates because of my sense of humor and upbeat attitude. I'm not the prince who sweeps her off her feet, or the knight in shining armor she rides off into the sunset with.
"I may not be your first choice, but I promise you I'd be an excellent substitute," I tease.
Y/n raises a brow in a silent challenge. "Oh, really?"
"Absolutely. I would make you laugh every day, make sure you had an endless supply of takeout from Maidreamin Café, and build you a dedicated room for your shoe collection."
She bats her eyelashes. "How could I ever refuse such an offer?"
"Do you have a pen in your backpack?"
An idea strikes me, and I decide to run with it, fully committed to this ludicrous, yet oddly inevitable agreement.
"Yeah, sure." She nods, grabbing her bag from the other side of the blanket. She pulls out a black ballpoint pen and hands it to me.
"Thanks." I take a napkin from the pile that came with our food order, set it on the discarded fry box, and hunch over to write.
"What are you doing?" Y/n cranes her neck to get a better view.
"You'll see." I cover the napkin with my hand so she can't see what I'm writing.
Midway through, I look up to find her gaze locked on mine. It's as if time stands still and we're the only two people in the universe sharing a connection deeper than words. A silent agreement, connecting us in the moment.
She's the first to look away, and I quickly return my attention to the note.
"There, that should do it," I announce triumphantly when I've finished.
"I don't know if a napkin would hold up in court." Y/n giggles when I hold it out for her to read.
Satour Gojo & Y/n Geto promise to marry each other if they're both single when they turn thirty. This agreement is legally binding.
"Well, we better sign it then." I scribble my name at the bottom and pass it to her along with the pen.
She uses her book as a hard surface beneath the napkin, sticking the tip of her tongue out in concentration as she signs her name neatly next to mine. I'm mesmerized by the details of her heart-shaped face, the smattering of freckles across her nose, her long eyelashes still damp with tears.
What was Toji thinking, letting her go? She's so damn beautiful.
And off-limits, I remind myself. Suguru has made that crystal clear.
"There, all done," Y/n declares with her signature smile.
Someday a lucky son of a bitch will give Y/n everything she deserves—but it won't be me. The consolation prize is knowing that I did something today to ease her heartache, even if just a little, and her smile makes it well worth the effort.

What if, somehow, Bella and Edward had zero classes together and never got close to each other until graduation day? At which point Edward smells her for the first time?
Why Edward likes Bella so much.
Also the caveat that Forks is small enough that this would never happen. Especially when Edward and Bella are pointedly in honors classes. That was the whole thing, Edward couldn't change his schedule to avoid Bella in Biology. It's slightly miraculous he somehow only shared Biology with her.
Well.
Bella's in trouble.
The thing about canon is that Edward initially found Bella to be extremely overrated. The school goes nuts over her and he looks over and sees a girl that, sure, she's pretty, but Rosalie as a human was 1000 times hotter and she's sure to be boring and gross like all the other ones. He vaguely approves of how she responded to Jessica when she filled her in about the Cullens and lunch in general but he was extremely not interested.
We'll be generous and assume Bella's not murdered/dies in a parking lot/all the other times Bella would have died without Edward's intervention.
This then continues for a year and a half. We'll assume Bella's still the hot commodity for the prom (which she then flees to Seattle to avoid). Bella has more or less the same relationship with Angela and Jessica. It doesn't get as strained in New Moon with Jessica, but Bella also doesn't initiate anything either, and Bella doesn't get close to Jacob having no reason to seek him out in New Moon and going "ew too young" when meeting him in general (as she did in Twilight and parts of New Moon). (Most the wolves also don't shift as James and company roll through town and leave again as they would have had Bella not been at the baseball game).
What we're getting at is a girl who's pined over the mysterious hot Cullens from a distance but has been far too shy and mortified to ever do anything about it (which is good because Edward would eat her). As in canon, Bella tries to subtly grill everyone she can, but the most she's getting is the flirting with Jacob in which he reveals that "yeeeeeeeah we're really superstitious and it's kind of embarrassing". Bella probably doesn't believe it in this world and wishes she had a way to organically get close to the Cullens when she shares classes with none of them and has to stare at them sadly from across the lunchroom.
Luckily for her, because she doesn't speak about it out loud, Edward pays relatively little interest. I imagine he's wary of why this girl keeps asking about the family, but Alice hasn't seen anything, and her lack of thoughts is probably his gift acting up (what he assumed in canon) or else there's something wrong with her head (what he also assumed in canon).
All that aside, we get to graduation, he smells the smell, and we'll say he pinpoints it to Bella Swan (he may or may not be able to do this if he's in a crowd in which case... well... things won't be good).
And we'll say that Alice for some reason is so distracted watching Jasper again that she misses all of this.
If it's Bella, and he knows he's likely to never see her again, we get one of two things. The first is that he goes through with the Biology plan, he either murders the entire graduating class, all their family, and friends so as to eat Bella Swan or else he holds himself off until he can lure Bella out on her own at which point she never comes home from graduation.
Otherwise, he manages to succeed in controlling himself, runs off to Alaska, and thank god the family's going to "college" now and Edward is not going to the same school. Except. Now. It bothers him.
What we get is Twilight the college edition in which Edward "SURPRISE" transfers to the school Bella's going to, in her exact department, making sure he's in the course offerings with her, so he can meet her again and prove to himself that he has totally great control and she's not the boss of him and make sure he didn't reveal he was a vampire.
It's basically the same as canon except Bella's only slightly older and not sure how to take the fact that Edward ignored her for a year and a half and now he's suddenly at her college.
(In which Edward will either eat Bella or turn her. There's no third door.)

what a safe place to be (look at me in a big bad dream)
aka: to build a family, part 13? wtf??
“But—Pete, it’s our senior prom,” Harley stresses. “That’s, like, a monumental occasion, right? It’s the last high school dance we get to go to. There won't be any other ones after this.”
“I don’t care about prom,” Peter tells him. “I care about you being okay. Prom doesn’t matter.”
Harley sucks in a slow, shaky breath. “It matters to me,” he says, words coming out wobbly yet insistent. “Because it’s something I wanted to experience with you. Even though we were probably gonna leave early, we were still—still—we were gonna have the cheesy pictures, you know? And the—the awkward slow dancing in a stupid gym surrounded by a bunch of teenage assholes that we’ll never have to see again once we graduate, and going to get greasy food with our friends, and—and—”
or: senior year is wrapping up when some shit gets in the way. harley wants high school to end normally, but he has a new normal to get used to.

Prom with Vaxleth?
26. Prom setting this in grow with the flow! buckle the FUCK UP
It starts with a social media post—Vex's, to be specific. Vax groans, his phone hovering just a few inches above his face, and Keyleth turns her head away from the business email she's been writing and rewriting for the last half hour to ask, "What is it?"
"Look." And then the phone is shoved in her face, and she's looking at—
"Is that you?"
All limbs and sharp angles, a teenage Vax in an ill-fitting tuxedo, his hair slicked back with what must be an entire container of hair gel, gives a sultry look to the camera. He's back to back with his sister, who's wearing a shimmering blue strapless gown that makes her legs look a million miles long. They each wear a snowdrop, him on his boutonniere and her on her corsage.
"Is this your prom photo?" Keyleth snatches the phone, grinning from ear to ear, to look even closer. "You two look so good!"
"We look so dorky." Vax tries to grab the phone back, but Keyleth keeps it deftly out of reach. "Apparently, today's the tenth anniversary, and Vex decided to air our dirty laundry on social media."
Keyleth scrolls down to read the comments, and since Vax is tagged, the Grow with the Flow audience is having a field day. "Oh yeah, this is fun. It's half bullying you, half asking to have a threesome with you and Vex."
"Disgusting."
Keyleth finally returns the phone. "Did you guys at least have fun?"
"Well, I hooked up with both the prom queen and the theatre teacher, so...yes."
Keyleth's jaw drops. "At the same time?"
"No." That prompts more questions than it answers, but then Vax asks, "What about you? I wanna see sexy prom photos."
She snorts. "Good luck. I didn't have a prom."
Vax sits up in bed. "For real? Why not?"
"I wasn't kidding when I said Zephrah is small. My graduating class had eleven kids in it. We just had a bonfire instead. That was the first time I successfully shotgunned a beer. There may be pictures of that somewhere!"
Vax pouts, hooking his chin on your shoulder. "So you've never gotten to dress up all pretty, make all the boys and girls go oooooh?"
"Um, well, I got a pretty nice dress for my mom's funeral."
"Oh fucking hell." Vax swings his legs out of bed and snags up his phone. He paces a line in the kitchen, dialing someone and pressing the phone to his ear.
"Who are you calling?"
"My sister. We are fixing this."
.
Honestly, Keyleth forgets about it. The podcast is really taking off, and pretty much any time not spent researching and scripting and recording and editing is spent coordinating sponsorships and doing the annoying paperwork that comes with owning a business. Vax has some project that he's working on, but he won't tell her what it is, which is fine, because she has more than enough projects on her own plate right now.
She doesn't think to question it when Vex tells her they're going shopping one weekend. Vex likes to shop—well, no. Vex likes to window-shop. Vex rarely spends actual money. Except this time, they go to a little corner boutique, one that sells gowns for weddings and galas. She doesn't know why, but Vex is insistent that she get this long-sleeved emerald green dress that hugs her curves. She tries to argue that it's a ridiculous expense, but Vex promises her they'll do a photoshoot with it for the podcast, and hey, they've been making some pretty good ad revenue these days, so she caves. It's especially hard to say no when Vex buys a dress herself, a slinky black number that makes her look like danger.
She definitely doesn't connect the dots when Vex and Pike burst in unannounced one afternoon when Vax is out, each laden with bags of makeup and hair products. Keyleth's tugged away from her editing to get dolled up, for fun, they insist. The next thing she knows, they're all dressed up, each in their own beautiful gown—Pike's poofy golden dress makes her look like the sun incarnate—and Keyleth's being shoved out the door.
She probably should have figured it out before Vex pulled her car up in front of the botanical garden, where a red carpet lined with silver and gold balloons leads inside the building, but no, it takes Vax, dressed in a sharp black suit that fits like a glove with a slim green tie that matches her dress perfectly, stepping out holding a homemade sign that reads Will you go to prom with me? that she finally fucking gets it.
Crying, she throws her arms around his neck, chastising him for keeping such a momentous secret from her, but Vex is there to scold her for ruining her hair and makeup. Her friends lead her inside, where she's shocked to find the gardens filled with people, most of whom she does not know. Vax explains that he put the call out for anyone in the city who missed out on their high school prom and wants a second chance, with all profits from ticket sales being donated to Keyleth's favorite conservation organization. Keyleth dissolves into a mess again, but Vex and Pike get her cleaned up enough for the evening to begin.
And oh, what an evening. Scanlan's band plays them through a night of dancing, drinking, and all around fun. Keyleth has never spent so much time on a dance floor in her life, but even though she takes plenty of spins with Percy and Grog and the girls, she is happy to have so many with Vax, who can go from an elegant waltz to a shockingly gymnastic twerk with a simple key change.
Some of the other prom attendees are podcast listeners, and Keyleth is so grateful to get to put faces to the numbers she spends more time than she likes to admit obsessing over. Everyone takes thousands of pictures, and she is so excited to see the #growwiththeflow hashtag come morning. The gardens are filled to the brim with people just loving life and enjoying each other's company, and Keyleth, who had never put much thought into what it meant to miss out on such an adolescent right of passage, is beyond grateful to experience this night with these people.
When the evening is winding down, and most of the revelers have either gone home or gone to another location to continue the party, Vax tugs her by the hand deeper into the gardens, far from the area set aside for the event. He boldly strides past a sign forbidding entry, saying "This is not even in the top ten most interesting places I've trespassed" when she stutters in protest.
He stops when they're surrounded by the most beautiful blossoming cherry trees Keyleth has seen since she left Zephrah. The glass ceilings of the botanical gardens let in the light of the stars above, and the entire scene is so fragrant and beautiful. "Vax...this is lovely."
"So are you." She wrinkles her nose at him, and he kisses it. "Did you have fun?"
"I don't think I've ever had so much fun in my life. I can't believe you kept this a surprise from me for so long."
"I can't believe you didn't catch on. I mean honestly, Keyleth, don't tell me I have to be the brains in this relationship, because if that's the case, we're screwed."
She punches his arm. "Jerk."
"Yeah, well, this jerk has one more surprise for you. Look over there." He points over her shoulder and she turns. She squints in the low light, but she sees nothing beyond the cherry trees except more plants.
"I don't understand, is there supposed to be—" She cuts herself off as she turns around to see Vax on one knee, a small box in hand. Her hands fly to her mouth, her eyes instantly watery.
"Keyleth, I am not a man of the gods." His voice is cracked, strained, like he's choking back tears of his own. "There is little that I have ever had faith in in this life. Until you. Until I fell in love with a girl I'd follow to the ends of the earth. Until I learned that fate did not mean that my life was a cart on a track, hurtling toward an uncertain future I couldn't avoid, but rather a certainty, a knowing that in this life, in any life, I am yours until I die and long after. And now my faith is in how much I love you, in how much I know you love me. And I may be a lovesick fool, but I have every faith that love will carry us through whatever the gods have in store for us." Keyleth is openly weeping, her breaths coming fast and sharp. "So, then, Keyleth..." He opens the ring box, revealing a pair of rings, one with a gorgeous smokey gray stone. "Will you marry me?"
She doesn't answer him, choosing instead to tackle him into a kiss that knocks him pack onto the stone pathway of the gardens. She kisses him until she can't breath, until the crying and the laughing and the hyperventilating has him sitting her upright before she passes out. Her hand trembles as he slides the rings onto her finger, and it isn't until he closes the ring box again that he pauses and asks, "Uh, wait, was that a yes?"
"Oh, you are definitely not the brains in this relationship." And she kisses her fiancé again, beneath the stars and the cherry blossoms and the eyes of the gods.

Summer: Sorry, old habits...
Sorella: I know.
Summer: When do you leave for Sulani?
Sorella: Monday, after all the musical performances are done.
Summer: How long will you be gone?
Sorella: I don't know…. A week maybe? Shit that reminds me I have to finish one of my final papers before then… Ugh. I can't wait to graduate.
Summer: You're going straight to college though!
Sorella: Yeah but it's drama school, surely we won't have as many essays…..
Summer: I think you're delusional at that.
Sorella: Maybe. Anyway, I don't think we'll be gone too long… Unless she is excited to meet me and wants us to hang around. [sighs]
Summer: I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Sorella: Thanks. At the very least I'll be back before prom. Otis asked me to go as friends, and since you'll definitely be going with Graham I said sure. I'm not gonna third wheel alone!
Summer: You don't know for SURE that he'll ask me!

I have a drabble request (and if it’s not your cup of tea that’s totally fine) could you write something where Max and Erica both roast Eddie about his obvious crush on Chrissy? I love how you write the Max/Eddie dynamic and I’d love to see Erica too!
Erica is a very intimidating character to me 😅 she has such a distinctive voice, I'm always afraid I won't be able to capture it. Same with Argyle, which is why they both rarely if ever appear in my fics. But here's my attempt ,just for you, nonny! (gosh, these are getting wayyy longer than drabbles. oh well)
---
Usually, the drama room was a sanctuary for Eddie. A safe haven from the swirling storm of high schoolers just outside its doors. A quiet corner where he could ditch his classes and remain blissfully alone.
Usually.
Today, his peaceful refuge was rudely disturbed by not one, but two nuisances.
“Lying isn’t going to get us to back off,” Max said with a roll of her eyes. “You know that, right?”
“I’m not—” he cleared his throat to get rid of his voice crack. “I’m not lying.”
“Yes, you are,” Erica said, folding her arms. “Straight through your teeth. You like Chrissy Cunningham, and you’re too chicken to do anything about it.”
“Fuck off,” he said, rubbing his forehead. These idiots were giving him a headache. “If you want to play matchmaker, go bother somebody else.”
“We’re not playing matchmaker,” Max said, idly rolling her skateboard across the floor. “We just think you should stop being so pathetic and ask her out.”
“I am not asking out the fucking Queen of Hawkins High,” Eddie hissed, giving them a glare that would’ve shaken most of his sheep.
Unfortunately, it had absolutely zero effect on these two.
“But she broke up with her boyfriend,” Max said emphatically.
“And she doesn’t have a date for prom,” Erica added smugly. “We heard it in the bathroom.”
“We?” Eddie shot her a frustrated look. “You don’t even go here, little Sinclair. How the hell did you hear anything from the high school girls’ bathroom?”
“I’m on a field trip,” she said with a raise of her eyebrow.
“And we also know,” Max cut in smoothly. “That she looks at you almost as much as you look at her. So there.”
“That doesn’t prove anything,” Eddie said, forcefully squashing down that small feeling of hope rising in his chest.
“You’re not denying you like her anymore.” Max smirked. “That sure as hell proves something.”
“Out!” Eddie pointed forcefully toward the door. “Both of you. Now.”
Erica leveled him with a glare. “Not until you promise to talk to Chrissy.”
“No.” He swallowed, his throat suddenly dry. “I can’t.”
Ask out Chrissy Cunningham? The most perfect, wonderful girl in the world? The girl who couldn’t possibly know he even existed? Not a fucking chance.
“Are you really going to finally graduate Hawkins High without even trying to go to prom?” Max asked. “Come on. Stick it to the man, or whatever you say that gets you out of bed in the morning.”
“Fuck you.”
“Right back at you.” Max glared at him until he backed down. “You just have to talk to her, jeez. Is that so hard?”
“It’s just—not that simple,” he said, his hands hanging limp at his sides. “She’s everything. And I’m nothing.”
“You’re only nothing if you don’t try, loser,” Erica said, putting her hands on her hips. “Now get. Off. Your. Ass.”
Why did they have to make so much goddamn sense (and be so fucking annoying while they did so)? What was the point of being the school rebel if he wasn’t willing to take a risk? Just this once.
“You know what? Fine.” Eddie marched toward the drama room door. “I’ll ask her. And you two, get the fuck off my back.”
They gave him their solemn oaths of honor, which he didn’t believe for a moment. Then he marched off into battle.
Send a prayer for the lowly freak, Eddie thought to himself as he passed a prop cross. He’s going to need it.
Max and Erica grinned at each other once the door swung shut behind him.
“Ten bucks says he runs away before he gets a full sentence out,” Erica said as she headed for the door.
Max hopped on her skateboard with a grin. “Twenty says I can trip him before he makes it five feet.”
“You’re on.”
---
P.S. any other requests will be answered tomorrow (ish)!

A follow-up to that Info ask, Can I get some info on both Teddy and Kitty, please?
Kathryn "Kitten" Gauthier is a entire package. Prom Queen, College Cheerleader, and the daughter of a prestigous rich family. She is a popular girl through and through, always with a sweet smile and sweet attitude. A perfectionist with a talent for athletics she always is there to lend a helping hand ESPECIALLY if you are the target of her affections. When you are her darling precious love of her life she will do ANYTHING for you. No matter WHAT. Dedicated and loyal she is a ride or die kind of girl who requires a constant need of affection and attention. She's the cute trophy girlfriend you can have on your arm and always will be your #1 Fan and Hype girl. Sadly however behind the facade of her sweet perfect persona is a mirror thats been cracking for over a decade. With extremely strict parents and being raised into the image of perfection Kittens always had a hard time growing up with her family. And with the pressures of highschool and her need for a true connection has led her to latch easily onto the ideal of a fantasy "true love". She's already had three ex's and all three have had disapeared in different ways. Eventually leading to the tragic death of her parents right after winning Prom Queen.
Currently she is your classmate in College, one of the head cheerleaders of the schools cheer squad and is on a veternarian course. As she of course by her name implys absolutely loves cat and cat themed items. Owning two cats herself named Dorothy (White cat) and Toto (Grey cat). The only thing she could possibly love more than you is her two cats. And anyone who messes with you or her cats will be forced into a destroyed social life and slow agonizing torture. She often doesn't prefer to get her hands dirty preferring to deal with her problems with words and the use of other people. However it doesn't mean she won't snap and be bringing her own knife to the party either. While not the strongest she is extremely quick and agile which she uses very much to her benefit. She will absolutely spoil you rotten with sweet words and sweet gifts and is very much the personal space invader type.
Teddy Bauto is a very sweet man, a orphan at birth he was raised by his very kind grandparents. And he is your local pizza delivery boy for a small hometown shop ran by a friend of his grandpas who he calls Uncle. Teddy is a whopping 6'4" and a very soft spoken man despite his size. At least to you. The man can barely mutter a single sentence to you 90% of the time as you make him absolutely nervous and heart racing. However he seems to be the only delivery boy anytime you order from the shop as if the man never gets a day off! Teddy is a fan of musicals and disney movies and his ideal date with you would be to take you to one of those things and to have a chill sweet time where you can both laugh and sing together. He's not a fan of crowds and often seems to get lost in thought and sidetracked. While he seems like a big loveable goof on the outside inside he's suffering due to a supernatural parasite residing in his mind. A parasite that latched onto him as a young boy and essentially lives in a part of his brain coming out like a second personality. The parasite has taken to the name Ted and in apperance seems to look like a rubberhose cartoon version of Teddy. While Teddy himself is very kind hearted, Ted is the opposite often driving Teddy to make bad decisions and fueling the bubbling anger hidden underneath. Often antagonistic and bullying Teddy when he can in any situation. In higshchool guiding Teddy down the wrong path by becoming a thug in a bully gang. Only to inevitably snap on the leader sending him to the hospital and Teddy himself sent to Juvie in his final years thus not graduating school. While Teddy could finish school he seems unsure to and doesn't find himself good enough to go back. Let alone good enough for you.
But that doesn't stop Teddys obsessive personality, the strong desire to be loved and to see you easily overwriting his worries about being good enough or how wrong it is to beat up others who harass you. How mean it is to bully the other delivery drivers to give your address up on any order. To stalk you quietly when he has his days off. He knows its wrong, and often will feel extremely guilty for his behavior. But with the help of Ted he keeps on going and hopes one day to get the courage to properly talk to you. To earn your love. He is a lover who appreciates quality time spent together and honesty in a relationship. He's also a Grade A snuggler~

...You have been feeling it for a while now, but as the night went on you longed to go home more and more.
By now you were convinced you lost every last bit of wanting to have fun, or the need to socially interact with anyone.
'You guys should kiss each other!' Harua's friend group shouted before your last photo session and that's when you realized you're too tired for this.
So slowly, but you started to head toward the exit after your photos were done.
You drank another bottle of champagne between the waiting — because the printing took some time —, and saw some of your classmates from afar, enjoying themselves while you smiled to yourself.
At least the people you like were having a good time here, so you thought you won't leave with completely negative thoughts after the incident with your partner.
You were forming a slight plan in your head, to try and call him when you're home, or text him a longer paragraph, asking for an explanation about his absence tonight.
Or maybe you'll do it tomorrow, you just felt tired especially emotionally after an evening like this, so you just wanted to get home, take a hot bath, and concentrate on yourself.
After your photos were done you said goodbye to Harua, the boy who you considered the true savior of your night with his endearing personality, he kept you company a bit, but you refused to go on with him and his friend group.
He was understanding and the two of you parted ways, you walking towards the exit, and him rejoining his friends who were still waiting.
As you looked back one last time it seemed like the crowd reduced a bit, but it was to be expected, you were here for about two hours by now, and surely some couples already left on their own.
You stepped out, the cool night air welcoming you once again with a harsh breeze, but it felt nice.
You were already thinking about facing your parents, debating how detailed will you tell them what happened tonight.
Although, do they have to know?
You can settle this on your own, right?
It would feel a bit embarrassing after sending them away with so much confidence in the beginning, but... at the end of the day, they deserve to know.
As a last resort you walked across the small garden once again to calm yourself, dialing your dad's number, but as you were mindlessly sightseeing you spotted another presence not so far away.
He didn't notice you, he seemed too occupied by a book, sitting by the only tiny coffee table in the whole garden.
He was wearing a formal dark grey suit so he was probably a graduate too, but why was he outside like that..?
It was awkward, the way you just couldn't tear your eyes away from his form, trying to guess what book is he holding but as you stepped a bit closer, still trying to remain discreet your phone suddenly lit up as your dad picked up the call and you forgot you like to redirect every call onto the speakerphone.
So the cute guy with glasses immediately noticed you from afar.
"H-Hi, dad!" You hurriedly spoke, turning away from him so he doesn't see your face.
You fiddled with your phone, turning it off from the speaker and you tried to walk away, but your heels didn't do you justice so you probably looked very clumsy to the guy across from you.
You knew he was still staring, but hoped he didn't hear your words clearly as you told your dad to give you a lift because you're tired, hastily trying to dismiss his guesses about your partner.
When he finally agreed you heard him call for your mom so you said goodbye and hung up.
You sighed, hanging your head a bit, and then slowly walked to the other side of the garden, close to the cute guy, and sat down on a spacious outdoor sofa that looked comfortable enough until your parents are here.
"...Sorry you had to see that, I didn't want to stare." You apologized after a minute since you felt like he was still looking at you.
From the corner of your eye, you saw him slightly jump in his seat.
"It's fine..." He laughed shyly. "I was staring too, so you caught me red-handed as well. I'm Euijoo by the way." He smiled your way and closed the book in his lap with a slight pinkish tint to his cheeks.
It's going to take at least 20 minutes until your parents arrive... so a little talking doesn't hurt.
"How come you're outside? Are you some sort of guard here?" You asked out of curiosity.
"No, I'm an attendee just like you," Then he tapped the small bouquet on his suit showing that he has a partner. "but my partner left about 30 minutes ago with her friends, saying that I was a bit boring. I don't know where they went but probably to one of their homes, for girl's night or something." He shrugged his shoulders, a soft smile still present on his lips.
"That's quite harsh..." You replied quietly.
"When I offered her that we can go to a park late at night and stargaze, or I could read something to her to escape from the loud party, she said that she doesn't mind the party. I guess we just had a different idea about prom." Then he made eye contact with you. "After we danced."
Both of you sighed at the same time.
"And you? Were you calling your friends? I saw that you exited alone." He asked in a soft voice, trying not to sound rude.
"No, actually I was calling my dad to take me home. I had enough of the party." You chuckled a bit gloomily, he just nodded with a hum.
You were grateful he didn't pry and asked about your experience further on, it seemed like he understood without words as well.
"And how are you going to go home?" You asked again after a minute of comfortable silence.
"Oh, I asked my friend Yixiang to give me a ride, he should be here soon." He smiled.
"He's still inside the venue?" You got surprised.
"Yes, well, he said that he's still enjoying the last bits of the party, probably going wild on the dance floor or something. He's a very good dancer." He laughed and you almost melted by his honey-like voice. "So I came out to read until then, but I trust him, he will be here shortly. His tolerance isn't that high either." He nodded, still smiling.
"Ah, what are you reading?" You leaned a bit forward to show your interest.
"The Little Prince." He raised to book to show the cover. "It's one of my favorites from childhood, so nowadays I started to reread it." He pushed up his reading glasses and grinned sheepishly.
You gazed at the cover, it seemed very lovely so you were sure it was a children's book, but you found his enthusiasm cute nonetheless.
"Do you want me to read for you?" He leaned closer too and his voice dropped a bit, almost whispering to you.
"Sure, I'd like that." You smiled warmly at him because this seemed to be the perfect distraction right now, a cute guy reading to you to ease your mood.
You listened to his every word as he started, his soothing, comforting, honey-like voice, ever so sweet to your ears and that tiny smile he wore while he went on...
You had no idea how many pages the two of you got through but his friend was nowhere to be seen when you saw a familiar car pull up opposite the venue.
You stood up, quickly waving to your parents to make yourself noticeable, and then awkwardly said goodbye to Euijoo, thanking him for keeping you company and hoping that this Yixiang arrives soon to take him home.
You walked away with a small sigh, leaving behind a stressful and disappointing night, but with these last memories in mind, you had something nice to remember, also the photos that you held in your hand the whole time.
You mentally prepared yourself that when the car door closes behind you you'll have to be honest with your parents, or at least tell the reason why you need to leave so early.
But as you looked back on Euijoo to check on him from afar one last time, you caught another person by his side this time.
Slightly shorter than him but with a similar build, blonde locks pulled back to expose his forehead, and that face, those smouldering eyes and stare you somehow remembered even from afar.
Also his navy-colored suit, no doubt it was him... The guy you met beside the female lavatory.
So how come he's Yixiang? Didn't he tell you his name was Nicholas?
....What kind of a liar is he?
But the car's starting engine cut your thoughts short, the scenery slowly drifting away as the vehicle fell into a comfortable pace, going towards your home and you finally relaxed against your seat.
The event was over, for you at least.
You felt at ease at last, this was the first moment in hours when you didn't think about your missing partner.
You were over it finally.

I finally got to see you, again!
(A different take on "It's Great to see you!" A more happier ending! Beginning part is the same from the other one-shot.)
Miles had a lot to think about. The two were have more fights, they were distant and unhappy. They seem to talk about the future but ending it without no resolution.
When the two decided to go to this burger joint, Miles knew what he had to do. Hobie came by to pick him up, they weren't making any conversation.
They ordered milkshakes, burgers and fries. Hobie casually said, "I'll be going to a national tour, luv. I won't be able to see you for a while."
"It's really happening, huh? You're famous." Miles softly spoke.
"Hahaha, yeah. Hopefully get bigger than simple 'Hey, I know you'," He chuckles, "I hope you can see one of my concerts. I can book you to California, that's the last stop. You and me, we can spend time and look at the apartments."
Miles giggles, "Long distant relationship?"
"Yeah, you know you're only for me." Hobie stares at him with loving eyes.
"Hobie... I have to tell you something." Miles gulps being nervous, "You know, I love you and what we have it's pure, Special! You're my other half, mi alma! Mi amor!"
"Yeah?" Hobie looking concerned, he sat up straight from the booth he's sitting on. Across his beautiful partner.
"You know, we are having a drastic change in our lives. I'm finally gonna graduate and I got three schools already accepting me. Another one on the way," Miles sighs being so shaky, "I know, I'm going to be super busy with school. I know you are doing all these tours, making music, and seeing and meeting new people. Heck, I'm sure at times you're holding yourself back because of me, the same with me to you."
"What are you saying, Sunflower?"
"I think we should break up." Miles finally said.
It went silent, Hobie's eyes widen in disbelief. "Hahaha, funny Sunflower. Don't joke like that." His voice forced into laughter sounding joyful then his hand touches his face getting worried. "You got me." A weak tone.
Miles finally look at him with those serious honey-brown eyes and pout. "You're not joking? You really want to break us up?" His boyfriend in shock being panicked, "Why? Is that fucking Ben bloke?"
"Hobie, no. You know, this is more than just Ben." Miles finally said, "I think we need to separate. We won't be able to survive if we keep going. We keep arguing, distant- I... We need to be single."
"Need to be single. This sounds like you want to shack up Benny boy, eh?" Hobie getting mad.
"Hobie, you are going on tour! You're telling me you're not tempted with all those pretty girls and hot guys? Hobie, I know you want to go crazy and party to your fullest."
"I love you!"
"I love you, too and it's not enough! Where we're at is not enough and if we go down this path- I just know we'll regret it." Miles hugs himself, "I wanna have fun, too. Go to college parties, make friends but I don't want to be your boyfriend then all of sudden, I catch you cheating on me."
"It won't happen. I swear!"
"What about the concert? The VIP? If you really cared about me being there you would've answer my phone call and be there." Miles sighs, "Hobie, it's the little things, too. I miss you and I don't want a long distance."
"Okay, so you're blaming me? What about you? You got mad for every moment about your study time and I can see why, because of Ben!" Hobie scowls.
Miles sniffs going to grab a napkin, "How can you be so fucking mean?" He wipe his eyes, "Why can't you see the truth? I'm eighteen. Your nineteen! You're going to be a famous rock star while I'm going to college! We keep fighting and fighting and I'm tired of this. It's not fair. Okay! I can't even have you at prom because you're busy! I want to have fun, have my experience! I know, you feel the same way."
Hobie held back his tears, "I can't believe this is over. What happens to love conquers all and this bullshit of being together in the future."
"So you're telling me, you'll be fine giving up the partying, the sleeping around, while focusing on me? What if I have a special event on your important concert or you win an award? Or we make plans and it's always push aside! You know, this is a lot?" Miles wipes his final tears. "Hobie, I love you so much. You don't know how much I love, you're my Moonflower, mi amor. I want you to be happy, but I know I can't make you happy- not right now." He grabs his boyfriend's hands, "You will always be my soulmate."
He looks into those dark eyes seeing his Hobie filled with hurt. His punker sighs looking exhausted, "I know. I'm sorry, Sunflower. Things haven't been well with us." His hand gripped tightly on Miles's hands, "I thought I was being selfish... I wanted us, I love you. You are my everything. You're my Sunflower- fuck, I even wrote that song of you."
"Sunflower became your hit single." Miles giggles, smiling at him. "Hobie, I know. I know. But we'll be fine."
"What if we never see each other again? Or we just... never got back together?"
"Only time can tell." Miles softly said, "Even if all that happen, your still my soulmate."
"You're mine, too." Hobie nodded, "I fucking love you so much."
"Me too."
Hobie saw their food on the table, "Let's go back to my place and I wanna show you how much I love before... before we officially end it."
Miles giggles, "Alright."
The two left the burger joint with their take-out. The two spend their times in Hobie's bedroom kissing, touching, feeling each other one last time. Hobie pulls away from their kiss, he smells his boyfriend's scent, "You smell good... sweeter."
"Heh, really?"
"Yeah, you're so soft." Hobie worries Miles was stressing over his classes, maybe gaining weight because his muscles were much leaner. He feels so soft.
"Bad?"
"No, never. You're always beautiful to me." He purr kissing him back.
Miles let out a purr with his arms wrapping around his boyfriend's neck, the bed sheets semi-covering them. They were in love, in passion, it was bittersweet. It was the last time they share their bodies, showing their love.
After that, Miles graduated from high school, Hobie had sent him a bouquet of Sunflowers with a letting saying, "I'm proud of you, Sunflower. XOXOXO Hobie." Miles smiles happily at the gift that he had the sunflowers dried up and made it into a necklace. He got a full ride to Princeton University.
As for Hobie, he went on tour, soon his popularity sky rocket with a much large fanbase. His charms, his looks got him into modeling, and movies. He was involved in a lot of collabs with famous artists, celebrities and talk show host. His band had reached the top Billboards, winning many awards.
Yes, the two had achieved their dreams, over time they forgotten about each other. Life, new friends, new drama got them so focus that anything about high school became a memory. Yet from time to time, they feel they lack in the love compartment. They would think back wondering the 'What if?'
-Ten years later-
The Punk star was busy walking in a mall being twenty nine years old, a tall man wearing leather jacket and pants, thick combat boots, and shredded crop top. His hair long in dreads and gold cuffs. New piercings on his face and ears. Wearing thick Sunglasses, "Oi, what does Manny want? I'm at the mall I'll buy him- what do you mean no? Don't be like that, Mindy! Ugh, ain't you a peach, darling." He scowls at his Smartphone, "Oh, so it's about the check, huh?"
The Punker was getting looks here and there, luckily there was barely anyone in the mall. It's a school day and it's morning, Hobie kept walking still on the phone. Then without a thought, someone passed him, with a very familiar scent.
A scent of fresh tropical shea butter, coconut and floral perfume. It took him a moment trying to figure out where that scent came from, or who does it remind him of someone. Hearing his baby's mama on the phone, he said, "No, 'am listenin'."
Once he speaks, the person that pass him by quickly turns over, "Hobie?" An odd feminine voice, he never heard before yet it felt familiar.
The Punker turns around, his eyes on the female figure. She had long box braids hair, wore a mint green long sleeve, and blue jeans with some white shoes. She looks at him with a kind smile as she hold the brown strap of her purse. "Long time no see." She had this big beautiful smiles with those gorgeous big honey-brown doe eyes.
Hobie's eyes widen from shock, he stares at the figure as if time was froze. No words came out of his mouth, the voice of his baby's mama ring his ear. The female figure gave a weak shrug. He quickly hung up his Smartphone slowly going up to the woman, "Sun-sunflower? Oh my god... is that really you?" His mouth opens before thinking.
"In the flesh." She giggles.
Hobie hugs her tightly having to twirl her around, "SUNFLOWER! It's fucking good to see you!" He could smell her scent, delicious tropical coconut scent!
"Ahh," She squeals being picked up and twirl making her laugh, "Moonflower! You causing a scene!" Some people had their attentions on them.
"So-sorry." He put her down, his hands on her shoulders, "Wow. Just wow!" HIs Miles... is a woman! "Luv, your-your a bloody lass?" He asked out loud still in shock, "I hardly recognize you."
Miles giggles, "It's Mimi, now. Actually, I'm a trans-woman, Hobie."
"What? Since when?" Hobie gawks at his Miles completely look like a woman.
"Um..." She bites her bottom lip, "After we broke up, I think? I actually started taking hormones at the end of my senior year. I didn't tell you because I was still figuring myself out."
"You know, I would accept you, Sunflower. I would've been supportive." Hobie frowns at this, "Is this why you were wearing make up, tight clothing, dresses?"
"Yeah! You're a fast thinker, Hobie Brown." She smiles at him with her honey-brown eyes gleaming with joy.
Hobie felt his body going pink, his beautiful Sunflower. "You're gorgeous! As a man and as a woman."
"Awe, you're making me blush." Mimi could feel her heart pounding against her chest, her hands sweaty. It been so long, she did miss her Hobie.
"You're so beautiful, I knew I smelled you when you passed by me," Hobie's eyes can go heart shape, his heart beating against his chest. His stomach filled with butterflies. Old love rising again. His soulmate is right here.
"Ohh creepy," She teased when she raised her left hand. That's when Hobie saw an engagement ring.
"Wait... you're married?" Hobie asked, his eyes squinting at the ring. Looks cheap. He felt upset seeing that. Not when his Soulmate was finally here. His hand quickly took Mimi's left hand to have a good look at the ring.
"Oh, this." She forced at smile at her ex-boyfriend, "Um... actually it's a long story!" Then rubs her ring being content with it.
"Well, there's a cafe over there and you can tell me all about it, hmm?" Hobie put his arms around her shoulder, he noticed at Mimi gotten shorter, and her shoulders weren't broad like when she was Miles in high school. "How 'bout it, luv?"
"Alright. A cup of coffee would be nice." She giggles, as she walks with him close.
Hobie wanted to know if she was married or engaged. He didn't know what to do if she is. What if she is in- "I'm divorced, y'know." She finally said as the two waited in line to order coffee.
"Huh?" He asked.
"After all these years, I can still know when you're anxious. Hehehe you're so funny, Hobie." She giggles, "I'm giving you a peace of mind."
"Divorce, you say?" He gave a small smirk, "So single?"
"Very." She added with her eyes on him. "I'll pay for-" He took out his black card with a big grin on his face, "I got this, Sunflower." He saw her putting back her wallet into her purse. "What do you want?"
"Iced Americano." She tapped her bottom lip seeing the menu. "I'll have a danish pastry, too."
"Alright." Hobie put his shades on the collar of his shredded white crop top. The tall punker got in front of the barista, "Ello luv, I'll have two iced Americanos, large and one danish pastry and a blue berry muffin."
"Alrighty, coming right up. It'll be fifteen, seventy five." The barista said, putting up the price on the register.
Hobie pays for it through his black card, and got his receipt. The two went to find a table to talk, they were sort of the only ones around. There was one student doing homework in the corner. Another side is an old man sipping his coffee while reading the newspaper. Then, two young adults talking about a movie.
The Punker chuckles as he lay back on his seat, "Does that remind you of any one?" He moves his chin upward to mimic pointing at the student in the corner.
"Oh gawd, not your throwing shade on me." She rolled her eyes, "But that was so me when I got my Masters."
"Oh look at you, being a scholar." Hobie chuckles with a smile on his face, it felt like he was happy, again. All this time, he was on autopilot with his emotions. "Not going for a PHD."
"Uhhh, maybe. Who knows." She had her fingers rubbing her wedding finger, the ringing move side to side. She's nervous. "Heh, my divorce was a bit expensive. My wallet was crying paying for my lawyer."
"Oh? What did the bloke do- More so, who is this bloke?" Hobie asked then he frowns, "Don't tell me, it's Benny boy."
"Oh my gosh," She burst out laughing while tucking her box braids behind her ear, "You remember him?"
"Hmpfh."
"After all these years you're still jealous?"
"I'm telling you, he had a thing for you."
"Oh yeah? Well, the reason he was around me so much, he's trans!"
"What?"
"He's a transman and he was giving me advices about what I should expect and stuff at the time." Mimi giggles at Hobie's facial expression, "He's living his best life, right now. I work with his cousin and my ex-husband."
"Wait, you're telling me a lot of stuff right now. You work with your ex?"
"Oh sorry, I-" The barista called out, "Number 38!" Hobie check his receipt then turns to his ex-partner, "Wait just a moment, luv. I gotta get our order."
Mimi nodded, before going to check her phone. A text from her ex-husband appeared on the family group chat.
Miguel: Are you going to take Gabriel for the weekend?
Mimi: Of course, we had plans to go to a cat cafe. ☺️
Gabriella: WHOA! I wanna get the choco-cat cake! -sends a cute photo of a chocolate cat with a frosting shape of a black cat sleeping on it.-
Miguel: Alright. Are you home safe?
Mimi: I'm meeting with an old friend.
Gabriella: Is someone we know?
Miguel: Send location, plz. Need to know your safe.
Mimi: -send location- No, he's an old high school ex of mine.
Miguel: ??? How did this happen?
Gabriella: 😲 Are you on a date? See, old man! You should start dating, too.
Mimi let out a giggles from her mouth seeing how her step-daughter likes to poke fun at her dad. They were married for three years and dated two years, overall five years of history. Shame how their love wasn't the same as the beginning of their relationship. Thus a divorce happened. Don't get her wrong, she loves her step-child as her own, this is why she has partial custody. Only every two weeks on the weekends.
Hobie came back with their drinks and snacks, "Hey, what are you laughing about?"
"Oh," She set her phone down on the table with a smile on her face, "My step-child, she was scolding her dad."
"So you married with a kid in the fam?" Hobie sat back down as he handed her iced Americano and pastry. "Who is this bloke that let you get away?" He flirted at his Sunflower, because what kind of idiot would let her go. HIs Miles, His Mimi that is so beautiful so perfect.
"Awe, Hobie." She shyly tuck her box braid behind her ear, she does this when she's flustered. Hobie's lips slowly turning to wide smile, seeing her like this... it makes his heart flutter. "Well, I've been with Miguel for five years. We dated for two and married for three. Um... we met at work. Turns out Ben has this cousin name Peter that got me a job at Alchemax, while I was trying to finish my BA. I had trouble finding internships because you know, me being trans and getting discriminated. Luckily, Peter being so kind to me got Miguel to hire me."
"So you married your boss?"
"You can say that. We work in genetic engineering, and I helped him with getting the reports handed out and check on our projects. We kinda clicked and dated." She felt so nervous talking about this. It's like she was caught cheating from her Hobie, and now she has to speak the truth. It felt weird. "Miguel is a great man, husband, and dad. He helped me through my transitioning." She finally said.
"So you actually... cut it?" Hobie asked being curious. "Sorry if that sounds rude, luv."
Mimi nodded, "Hehehe, your good, Hobie. I have a vagina now. I never felt so happy being me!" She smiles at him. "I feel complete like this is what I always yearn for."
"Well, you look beautiful, luv. You are glowing." His eyes on her, "I wish I was there to support you. I can't imagine going through that. Wasn't it traumatic?"
"Well, I had at the time my husband supporting me, our friends, his daughter... I went to therapy for it. There's times where I do think about my organ being cut and if I didn't go along with it. But my surgery was fine, Miguel made sure I had the best doctors and so far, I'm at peace with myself." She sips her Iced American through a straw. "Mm. So, what about you, Mr. Punk Star? You been making waves ever since?"
"OH me? Nah, nothing is interesting." Hobie scoffs, "Same ole' Same ole'." he didn't want to talk about himself. He wanted to hear more on Mimi's life, her journey. His Soulmate is here and he didn't want to blabber about his stupid years.
"Ohh, come on, I've told me my story."
"Mmm?" He hummed thinking about it.
Mimi did her cute puppy eyes, "Please, Moonflower?" She's so curious to know.
Hobie couldn't say no, his heart burst with love. "Alright. Alright. You still have a hold on me, Sunflower."
"Hehehe. I can see." She snickers.
"Well, I am a dad... got a little sprog named Manny if you haven't follow those nosy podcasters about me life." Hobie finally admits, he pulls out his phone.
She gasps being surprised, "OMG, Hobie Brown, you're a dad? I don't believe it!"
"Here. My lad." He handed her his phone to show his photo of his three year old son.
"Oh my god, he does look like you," She smiles happily. "And the Mrs.?"
"Baby mama, and no we're not together. We been on and off, she just always seems to care about the child support." He rolled his eyes.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Are you planning to stay with her?" Mimi asked having to feel envious for the woman, she got her Hobie.
"Nah, we never work out..." His eyes yearning for her instead, "besides, I think I'm interested in this one specific person."
"Oh?" Her heart pounds rushing all the blood through her head being excited, she kept calm, "Who is this specific person?"
"A beautiful Sunflower." His hand touches her, "You know, not a day goes by when I don't think about you."
"You're such a flirt. You couldn't possibly think of me while you're out partying and being famous." She giggles.
"OKay, that might be cheesy. But luv, I never met anyone like you. You are my Soulmate." Hobie explains, his hand holding on to her, "Its not the same. What we had? I could never found anyone like that- these feelings- Even right now, I'm taking all my will power to not kiss you, hold you, feel you." His hands started to do more than hold, he's massaging her feeling her soft skin.
Mimi's eyes sparkle with love, it felt like she was in high school all over, again. "Hobie..."
"Luv, let's try again. We're older, and free. Your single. I'm single. What could go wrong? You miss me too." Hobie's voice low, deep with a certain charm.
"Mi amor, your famous and I'm... I'm trans, you would get hated and-" Hobie snorted, "Fuck it. I finally got to see you, again and I'm not planning to let you go."
Mimi couldn't help but let a flustered smile, her cheeks warm, "You wanna take that leap, again?"
"I do." Hobie felt her hand holding onto his a bit tighter this time.
Later, the Punker walks with Mimi back to her apartment. He wanted to be with her till she got home safely. The two took their sweet time getting there. They stop at old places they use to date, ate lunch, heck they even took a stroll in Central Park. They were holding hands, and cuddling feeling like nothing has changed, their love felt so fresh.
Mimi got to her apartment in Brooklyn, "Well, here we are!"
"Heh, you don't live too far from your parents."
"Hey, Billie have to go somewhere else than stay at home." She mentions about her little sister. Billie is only ten years old, "and she always have my dad dropping her off here and Gabi is always coming by whenever her dad is so busy." She got to the top steps while Hobie stood along with her.
"I guess, this is it, eh?" Hobie finally asked.
"Wo-would you," She felt his hands around her waist, "like... if you want, since you must be busy... and it's cold today- would you like to come inside?"
"Is that because I'm cold or something else?" He lowly asked with his lips getting closer to her mouth. Eyes slowly closing as he felt sweet tropical scent.
"Maybe something else." Mimi's eyes slowly closed as she felt Hobie's lips on her. Her arms wrapping around his neck, pulling him into a heat passionate kiss.
Hobie swept her off her feet as he felt his old love burning like a dim candle suddenly burst into its bright flames. He never felt so in love. They share tongue, feeling every part of their mouth. God, it felt so right. It's like they were the missing piece into their puzzle. Mimi took her keys struggling to open the front door, being so busy kissing her ex.
Hobie helps her unlock her apartment door, they went in. Somehow they made it to Mimi's floor and her apartment. The doorknob struggles to open, while Hobie chuckles. "Someone is eager."
"Oh hush you too." She felt her lips swollen, "Unless you don't want too-" Hobie quickly kisses her like a hungry beast, "I do! Luv, don't be cruel. I was joking." They had their sloppy kisses when they enter Mimi's apartment. Hobie kick the door shut when she got her keys out.
The next thing happens, the two fell on top of the couch with clothes being tossed around. Mimi's wearing a b-cup size laced pastel cream bra. Hobie had no time kissing those beautiful breasts, her neck... every part of her body. Same did Mimi, she kisses Hobie's pierced nipples, his six pack, and belly button. They were in love, their passionate sex was gentle, romantic, holding hands to the point they refuse to let each other go. It felt like their love for each other never went away but became like an addictive drug.
When their passion ended, Hobie kisses his beloved's shoulder as the two were wrapped around a thin blanket, "Mmm, that amazing." He mutters.
"Mm, it was." She kisses his lips feeling his hands wrapping around her waist, "I love you, Hobie."
"I love you, too, Mimi."
