Hello!
Hope you're having a good day.
I know we often send you questions about the OS arc, which shouldn't be surprising given that we love it when you get your sad-boy-stick out and there's just so much potential there, but I'm actually very eager to read about other arcs too.
I'm fairly curious about the one which will follow DT, Runaways. Seeing as you're still loosely following canon events, it's safe to assume you will tackle Lucy's past, with a good chance of a repeat Phantom Lord conflict quickly stopped by Acnologia (I'm guessing it might never evolve into a full out war). What I'm curious about, is that your title is about RunawayS, plural. So not only Lucy.
So who is/are the other runaway(s) ?
Is it a reference to how most guild members are running away from their past, some more literally than others? (Erik having run from Brain, Gajeel from slavery, I'm not sure if the Strauss siblings fall in the runaways or in the cast out category...) Or does it refer to some specific persons in particular? For instance you will probably tackle the Loke issue in this arc, but technically he never ran away, he was just exiled... Or we could also get a brand new plot, with other characters from the series running away! (... to FT or from FT ... for whatever reason(s). )
So yeah, pretty curious about the meaning behind the next arc's title. (Also curious about some other titles, but given that they are post Tenrou, it's hard to guess what they might be about because things might get pretty AU by then XD.)
Lots of love to a wonderful author!
🐧
Hey Penguin!
Lol, I get it. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited for the OS arc for the same reasons. (There's a scene I've been rotating in my mind like a rotisserie for over a year now and I'm gonna love subjecting you all to it.)
Aha! Good eye! It is, indeed, plural. There's lots of little themes that add onto it, like the struggle of dealing with conflict or not dealing with those pesky repressing-feelings habits or some minor character stuff involving some aftermath of DT, but as for the main reason, you are correct. Lucy and her past (mostly dealing with her father) are a big focus, but the other one, in this case is Gajeel. Metallicana leaving aside (although Gajeel does mentally run from that one, so eh), the dude's got a track-record of, well, literally running away from a situation if he can't fight it (Minstrel, Denish, Phantom Lord) and Phantom Lord, in this case, doesn't think too kindly of it. Gajeel can't punch and ignore his way through this one, heheh...
Aaaand perhaps there's some other literal aspects in the midst, because as you might have guessed, the Phantom Lord situation—while still instigated by Jude—will go differently from the get-go due to changes. (Because PL really doesn't have a chance of a direct war with Acno around, lol.)
Haha, yeah you're right things do start veering rather significantly post-Tenrou, and it'll get to the point where things stack on each other and cause some chain reactions, plot-wise, so it'll all make sense once we get there.
#htryds#ask#penguin anon#os arc#runaways#phantom lord arc#but yeah i'm excited for both arcs though maybe i'm also more excited for os#i get to hurt people with astounding proficiency up there#though runaways involves some existential crises and i love those too#i also finally get to give gajeel some love#i've neglected him just a bit because for a while#he was among the most stable of the dragonlings#but no longer! >:D#and of course i get to bully all of the dragonlings in one go in this next one#because you mess with one of them you mess with all of them

Ionian dragon headcanons
Dragons only lay one egg at a time
Dragons lack almost all sexual dimorphism between sexes. The gender representation in human form is chosen by the individual dragon and mostly reflects their preferred aesthetic. (used with courtesy of @shensheng-aoman thank you <3)
Dragons very very rarely form pairs. Most often they mate and part ways, sometimes they may choose to exclusively mate with one dragon, but it is very rare that two dragons choose to stay together and share a territory.
Dragons are extremely territorial and will not allow another dragon to cross their borders without announcing themselves
In dragon etiquette it is commonly known that, if a dragon enters another dragons territory, they have to announce themselves. If they do not, it is taken as a sign of hostility and will likely prompt an attack
Dragons don’t grow up as humans do. Instead, they cultivate qi/magic to achieve growth leaps. They generally reach their adult stage by the human age of 45, though it may differ depending on the lifestyle of the dragon
Dragon teeth, while sharp, are rather soft and are unfit to make weapons out of. Sometimes they are used for medicine, or other purposes and they are quite desired to make knife handles out of.
Dragon teeth regrow when dragons lose them and you may sometimes come across a rock with bitemarks on it. That most definitely means you are in the territory of a dragon, and that rock is most likely the dragons preferred way of losing rotten teeth
Dragon horns are among the hardest known materials on Runeterra. And unlike dragon teeth, dragons never lose their horns. If you see dragon horns on a market, they are likely fake. The only way to reliably obtain dragon horns is by killing one
Dragons are excellent swimmers and very much enjoy taking a dip in any body of water
Dragons can hold their breath for extended periods of time. If you pay close attention, you may spot a dragon in human form by noticing that they breathe less often
It isn’t uncommon for dragons to pick mates from other species. Most likely because most dragons simply can’t get along with one another and therefore prefer the company of other species
Dragons, despite their size, are outstandingly good at hiding. You may live your whole life in a dragon’s territory and not see them once
Despite being good at hiding, dragons will often make their presence known by howling. They do this to ensure that any possibly dragons around their territory know that they are close and should not enter
When dragons have laid an egg, they generally abandon it. It can take years for a dragonling to hatch. When they do hatch, they first eat the shell, which is made purely of concentrated magic. They then start exploring their new territory and search for a suitable place to live and thrive
Small dragons tend to lave longer paws and shorter bodies. They don’t fly as often. This will change as they grow older.
Generally, Ionian dragons are shepherds of their territory. They maintain nature and keep balance. Everything within their territory belongs to them
Dragons are very vain creatures and take outstanding care of themselves. If they allow you to touch them, or ride on them, you should consider it a great honor
Dragons can die from a broken heart. When a mate they particularly enjoyed passes away, it is not uncommon for a dragon to isolate themself and die
Dragons have the same ability as birds to keep their head stable while their body moves
All dragons can smell magic
Every dragons roar is unique
When dragons near a growth leap, they get very cranky. As their body changes, they are in a constant state of mild pain
Ionian dragons can’t hold their liquor. They are incredible light weights
How Yún differs from ‘wild’ dragons
Yún knows how to purr. He learned it from foxes
Unlike almost any dragon, Yún is extremely physical. He loves to cuddle and loves to be petted. It is unknown whether this is because Yún is domesticated, or just an exception to the rule
While most dragons live alone, Yún thrives in an environment with others around him. Perhaps most dragons are so cold because they’re lonely
Unlike most dragons, Yún would actually do his best to stay with his mate and child, but would sometimes give in to instincts and abandon them for a while
Yún is incredibly monogamous. Even if his feelings aren’t reciprocated, he will still be apprehensive about dating someone else
Unlike wild dragons, Yún is far more attuned with human society. He will obey laws and is taught manners. He also has a slightly different moral compass
While Yún does think humans are a species that is below him, he does hold humans in slightly higher regard than most wild dragons. He has far more respect for them
