(This is inspired by @r0-boat's Bull Farm Au. (Warnings: Their blog does contain NSFW elements and some content done may not like. Just a heads up but this WILL STAY Sfw.) I did ask if they were alright with me writing something inspired by their au and they gave the go ahead. So here it is.

The smells of hay and faintly fruit from the fields behind you ready to be harvested any day now. The hot warm sun shown down on her back as she sighed and relaxed back in her small hiding spot in the tree. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, flowers in bloom, and most importantly you had the entire morning off. She didn't have any duties until tomorrow when she had to get a delivery for her boss. Until then there was nothing to worry about but to relax in the silence.

The peaceful, silent, still silence. Nothing but the wind rustling through the leaves where you sat.

BAM!!

The entire tree under you shook suddenly. On instinct your hands dug themselves into the bark of the tree not caring for any possible splinters. Blinking wildly you looked around. What the-?

BAM!!

A second force rocked the tree. Your hands slipped on the bark loosing grip. Your world tilted. And you were weightless. A squeal left your mouth as you just tumbled out from the tree. Arms waved out and eyes closing. But...you didn't hit the ground? No impact was made?? Instead you suddenly found yourself suddenly held up by something relatively soft. Your eyes popped open- Only for you to shriek seeing a smiling face inches away from yours.

"VOLO!! WHAT THE HELL?!"

A hand pushed against the widely smiling face of the male. Grey pupils small and smile wickedly wide as your hand smoothed his cheek as you pushed it away. Gaining some distance from his face you looked around you and noticed with a pale face that he was holding you in his arms.

"...Why the hell are you holding me like this?!"

A chuckle from him was your only warning before he pulled you closer against him. "Because you're mine and I decided I wanted you now."

You hissed still pushing against the blonde to no avail. "We've been over this!" You growled at him. "I had a long day and when I disappear for a little while it's because I don't want to be bothered by anyone especially a clingy, whiny bull-headed jerk!" Your struggling was in because he easily held you up effortlessly and nudged his horns into your forehead. "Wait...DID YOU SERIOUSLY JUST KNOCK ME OUT OF THE TREE BECAUSE YOU CAN'T LET ME HAVE TWO MINUTES TO MYSELF?!"

"Mine." He pressed you closer.

"Yes. I know but- EH!!" You reached out from his grip.

"Mine."

"Down!"

"Mine."

"One minute!"

"Mine!~"

"You are hopeless!" Throwing your arms up defeated, you allowed him to hold you with a frown. "Why did I even agree to pick you out of the entire farm again to pursue a relationship with?"

"Because I'm haaaaandsome.~"

"Oh you just love to stroke your own ego don't you?"

With a wicked grin he snorted amused. "Maybe but it doesn't matter now. Because you are m i n e.~ "

Out. Minami was out of the game, out of the running, benched with no hope of getting back in. Touji almost can’t believe what is happening in front of him, he had been able to hold everything back with Mirai’s death but that loss left him fragile. Cracked but not yet broken, it doesn’t take more than another nudge for something that was at the core so fucking weak to break.

His face goes a ghostly pale color as Minami utters her last words. The red of her blood stained shirt engulfs Touji’s senses, smell of iron and streaks of running crimson. There is a lump in his throat and a quiver of his facial muscles. A deep breathe in and a step towards Minami’s body. His hands shake with an uncontrollable tremor, fear taking his senses from the blood.

It was after the two of them proved themselves to be the absolute undisputed chads of Hell, the coolest guys and the biggest losers of Never Have I Ever. It’s really easy to lose when you’re just that cool…

[♪ ♪ ♪]

“Hey! You play?”

“Shit you setting this up. I’m a little out of practice but yeah I can play. Bet I can kick your ass in this!”

“Oh, really? I’ve probably been playin’ this since you were a little kid, man. It ain’t gonna be quite as easy as all that.”

“Yeah playing since I was a little kid. Means your skills have probably already started wearing obaa-san.”

Touji was always so disrespectful towards his elders, it was never out of malice but his own way to tease the people that he thinks are cool. And as he had already seen; there was no one cooler than Minami.

It felt like years had passed before he finally reached Minami. He looked down at her and the sound of his collapsing knees echoing out bone against hard ground.

His tears fell even quicker than they did for anyone else. The glass case around his heart shattered and he didn’t know what to do with all of these emotions that are being released from within.

Tough guys don’t cry…His fear was that he was weak…the fear hasn’t left, it’s only been proven true to him. Touji was completely useless here, he couldn’t even help his best friend before she fell.

“Hey…Minami…obaa-san! Don’t fucking fall asleep here…c'mon you’re…you wouldn’t…”

His entire body shakes and the tremors have moved from his hands to his entire body. He’s never had someone he’s cared about actually die before. He was a happy kid from a happy family that was all sticking kicking. He’s never lost a friend, never lost a pet, the only thing he’s ever lost was himself…and this hurt all the more in this moment.

At least for himself he could pick himself back up and through hardwork he’s gotten to where he is today. Minami will never stand again…at least as a human, but living as a demon wasn’t living to him.

“C'mon, you’re…we’re the cool guys here! We’re the ones that gotta fucking have our heads on right! For all these dumbasses!”

Every word is said with care and sorrow. The cool guys, the dumbasses, he cared about both of the groups immensely.

“Just open your fucking eye…stop bleeding. Please…just fucking wake up…C'mon, obaa-san…”

Touji tries to wipe the tears from his eyes but it’s all to no avail when they just come right back to cloud his vision and make everything so watery.

“I wouldn’t say I have a guy back home…exactly. Just some dude I like. It’s not that serious.”

“Oh? A guy at home, huh? That’s sweet~ what’s his name?”

“His name is uhh…ᴹᵘᵍᵉⁿ. Anyway, I think it’s about time I actually shot this thing.”

“Mugen, huh? Is he haaaaandsome?”

“Shut the hell up! Yeah, he’s really fucking cute! That’s what you wanna hear!? Geez!”

All the conversations with her that she could turn on him, always shooting him a knowing and mischievous look when he was embarrassed and she knew better than anyone why.

“Laugh at me! Just fucking laugh at me! Make fun of me for having a stupid crush! Do something instead of just laying there!”

But of course she can’t. And Touji needs to accept it. But he just wants to deny and deny and deny. Just like he denied everything that was laid out for his future, every person that told him he was never going to be able to do the things he does now.

Denial of the bad circumstances and hard work should fix everything…If he just hopes enough then she’ll be fine.

“What about Daishin!? Huh!? What the fuck are you gonna do with them!? Are you just gonna die on them like this!? How could you do that!? Who’s gonna take care of that fucking kid!?”

Acceptance came with anger. That anger that he treasured so much being wrongly thrown out at the corpse of his friend…Please he still begs for her to get up and sock him in the face or something for that…but she doesn’t.

“This is all just complete fucking bullshit…”

They both sucked with talking about their feelings…but he trusted her enough to try and be as open as he could with her. He trusted her more than anyone else and he wanted nothing more than to see her go home…she deserved it.

She opened up to him and he hopes that she trusted him as well. Touji lets himself stew in his memories…all of them just coming and going…

The cold winter air on his skin and the light of fireworks raining down on everyone in a shared yet fleeting moment of peace for he hoped, everyone.

“Ihihihihi! Damn, look at the chads over here with no one to hold hands with! We did a real damn good job.”

“I know! Bet you wish you had someone here to hold, though, huh?” - “…Heh, yeah. I’m glad everyone’s havin’ a good time after all the shit that’s been goin’ on.”

"Yeah I sure do! It’s why I gotta get out of here!” - “We all really needed it…even if stuff gets fucking hard again.”

“When you get out of here, I’ll do a second fireworks show just so you can hold your man’s hand, ‘kay?” - “…Hopefully everyone remembers gettin’ along when the next shit hits the fan.”

Yeah, Touji wishes that he could live up to the hope for her…but all he wants to do right here at this moment is cry his heart out. And when his heart is all dried up, there is going to be a desert left.

Dry and hot. Unforgiving if you go in without a plan. Relentless in the way it will beat you down and leave you just as dry and desolate as itself if you don’t know how to escape it. All encompassing and destructive when you don’t know

It could almost be comparable to Wrath itself…

Yes, that was all that was going be left of his heart once these tears stop flowing is a beast befitting Satan’s sin.

And Touji was going to make his rage everyone else’s problem.
