You can’t run from your demons. That’s what his psychiatrist had said, but he sure felt a lot faster when he was on the ice. He didn’t feel the clutches of his nightmares clabbering at him when he was skating.

He’s not even the slightest bit ashamed to say he was staring, thoroughly impressed by the seemingly sudden burst of life. There was something else, too, about the way their passes could connect so easily, even having never played with each other before and the way Bucky follows him without hesitation through the routine.
