god thank you – like i’m not a fan of how andrea was feeding lines to will during hungary, and the immediate aftermath was iffy for me, but that was quite literally the FIRST time andrea and the rest of this “new”-mclaren has had to deal with a situation like that in at least a decade, if ever for some of the staff. some of the rhetoric recently has been exhausting.
this is not the mclaren of old, of veterans and consistent championship contenders and a ruthless ron dennis, it’s a newly spun thing – they’re going to make mistakes when the pressure is dialled up to eleven, nothing can truly compare to the stresses of competing for fully fledged grand prix victories.
i feel like people forget that this is only andrea’s second year in the job… he’s never been a TP before! and look how quickly he managed to turn things around from what went so wrong technically in 2022/23, and fix it to the point where we’re getting a pit-stop sized gap for a win over p2.
i feel we should be giving him at least a bit of grace for giving us the pace in the car that’s causing these luxury problems 🫠
hungary was handled in completely the wrong way, but i do have to wonder that if that didn’t happen if people would be so against andrea right now. in reality andrea has made such impressive improvements to the team since becoming team principal, so much so that we can even be having a discussion about lando winning a wdc in a car, that even at the start of last year we were in the trenches.
